Reported literature data strongly suggest that steroid metabolism is dysregulated in Type 1 diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to non-invasively examine the cortisol metabolism in children with Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) in detail and to test the hypothesis that adrenarche is affected under conventional intensive insulin therapy. In 24-h urine samples of 109 patients aged 4-18 years with T1DM of more than 1 year, steroids were profiled using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Additionally, urinary free cortisol (UFF) and cortisone (UFE) were quantified by RIA after extraction and chromatographic purification. Data on urinary steroids from 400 healthy controls served as reference values. Enzyme activities were assessed by established steroid metabolite ratios, e.g. 5alpha-reductase and 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase Type 2 (11beta-HSD2) by 5alpha-tetrahydrocortisol/tetrahydrocortisol and UFE/UFF, respectively. Urinary markers of adrenarche, especially dehydroepiandrosterone and its direct metabolites were elevated in patients, as were urinary 6beta-hydroxycortisol, UFE, and 11beta-HSD2 activity. However, overall cortisol secretion, as reflected by the sum of major urinary cortisol metabolites, was mostly normal and activity of 5alpha-reductase clearly reduced. Our study provides evidence for an exaggerated adrenarche in T1DM children, which may help to understand reported sequelae in female patients like hyperandrogenic symptoms. The findings also suggest a reduced cortisol inactivation via 5alpha-reductase that is not compensated by a fall in cortisol secretion. Whether the elevated urinary 6beta-hydroxycortisol and cortisone excretion, observed in the patients, are also present in other forms of hypercortisolism and may thus serve as non-invasive clinical stress markers deserves further study.  相似文献

Enzyme hydrolysis, solid phase extraction, methoxym-silyl derivatization and capillary gas chromatographic analysis were used to examine the changes in urinary steroid metabolites in men with androgenic alopecia. A total of 23 men with androgenic alopecia and 7 age-matched control healthy men collected 24-h urine. Significantly increased values were found in the metabolites of testosterone (T): androsterone (A) (p<0.02), and etiocholanolone (E) (p<0.05) in patients with androgenic alopecia, compared to the control values. Elevated levels of 16-hydroxy-dehydroepiandrosterone (16-OHD) (p<0.03) and cortisol (F) (P<0.05) were found, but the levels of cortisol metabolites were unchanged. Calculating the ratio of total 5 alpha/5 beta metabolites provided information on the activity of 5 alpha-reductase. The ratio of total 5 alpha/5 beta metabolites was increased in the patients showing the increased 5 alpha-reductase activity. The elevated 16-OHD level could be indicative of patients who had mild hyperadrenal activity.  相似文献

The feasibility of performing steroid analysis by capillary gas chromatography on random urine samples for the detection of mild late-onset 21-hydroxylase deficiency was evaluated. Comparisons were made of basal excretions of androgen and 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone metabolites with plasma levels (basal and stimulated) of 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone and testosterone in six patients with the disorder. The following steroid metabolite excretion ratios were determined for normal controls and affected individuals. 1) 17 alpha-hydroxypregnanolone/tetrahydrocortisone + tetrahydrocortisol + 5 alpha-tetrahydrocortisol (cortisol metabolites) (normal 0.017-0.10, affected 0.17-0.42); 2) pregnanetriol/cortisol metabolites (normal 0.03-0.15, affected 0.17-0.99); 3) pregnanetriolone/cortisol metabolites (normal 0.02-0.014, affected 0.08-0.20); 4) androsterone + etiocholanolone/cortisol metabolites (normal 0.26-1.02, affected 0.34-1.47). Among the 21-deoxy steroid ratios, there was no overlap between affected and unaffected individuals. Two of six affected individuals had androsterone + etiocholanolone/cortisol metabolite ratios in the normal range. This method provides excellent discrimination between normal and affected individuals, precluding the need for an ACTH-stimulation test. It is anticipated that it will be increasingly used for diagnosis of the condition.  相似文献

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The responses of metaphyseal bone tissue to physiological variations of endogenous adrenal steroid hormones during childhood are unclear. Therefore, we studied potential hormonal influences in children before the appearance of pubic hair (onset of pubarche). METHODS: Excretions of major glucocorticoid metabolites (C21), cortisol, sum of adrenarchal dehydroepiandrosterone and its immediate 16-hydroxylated metabolites (DHEA&M), and 5-androstene-3beta,17beta-diol (hermaphrodiol) were analyzed in a cross-sectional study in 24-hour urine samples of 109 healthy boys and girls, aged 6-13 years, using steroid profiling by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Total and trabecular volumetric bone mineral densities, bone mineral content (BMC) and bone strength strain index were determined with peripheral quantitative computed tomography at the distal forearm. RESULTS: In multiple regression analyses significant associations with the metaphyseal radius were seen for grip force, age, or BMI depending on gender and bone variable analyzed. DHEA&M did not contribute to the explanation of the variance of any bone variable. However, hermaphrodiol positively explained a significant part of variation of bone mineral densities, and BMC (p < 0.01) in girls. Significantly negative associations with all bone variables were seen in boys for cortisol. CONCLUSIONS: The steroid hormones, cortisol and hermaphrodiol, in their physiological ranges, but not the adrenarche marker DHEA&M, appear to associate with metaphyseal bone in a sex-dependent manner during childhood.  相似文献

The circadian profiles of cortisol and dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEA-S) were analyzed in a homogeneous group of 15 young normally cycling women, at 4 times of the menstrual cycle: early follicular (EF), late follicular (LF), early luteal (EL) and late luteal (LL) stages. The circatrigintan variations of the same hormones were also evaluated. Population-mean cosinor analysis allowed the demonstration of a highly significant circadian periodicity for both variables in any of the 4 stages of the menstrual cycle; on the other hand, the same computation failed to demonstrate a significant circatrigintan periodicity. In each of the stages considered, the circadian acrophase of DHEA-S was delayed in comparison to that of cortisol, being located in the early afternoon hours. The demonstration of a clear-cut circadian oscillation in serum DHEA-S prompts studies on possible chrono-abnormalities of the steroid production in women with hyperandrogenic diseases.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the objectively observed binge eating behavior of obese subjects meeting the proposed DSM-IV criteria for binge eating disorder would be similar to that observed in patients with bulimia nervosa. Non-obese patients with bulimia nervosa (BN), obese subjects with binge eating disorder (BED), obese and non-obese women without eating disorders were each instructed to binge eat single- and multiple-item meals. In the multiple-item meal, the obese subjects with BED ate significantly more (1515 kcal) than obese subjects without BED (1115 kcal), but they ate less than the normal-weight bulimic patients (2680 kcal). The non-obese controls ate amounts similar to the obese non-binge-eating-disordered group (1093 and 1115.2 kcal, respectively). In the single-item meal, consisting of ice cream, patients with BN ate significantly more than any other group (1307 kcal), while obese subjects with or without binge-eating disorder ate significantly more (762 kcal) than non-obese controls (308 kcal). This study has demonstrated that although both BN and BED are characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating, quantitatively there appear to be differences between the eating disturbances in the two disorders. Because single- and multiple-item meals differ in external cues, these results also suggest that the obese subjects with BED may be disinhibited by external cues, while obese subjects without BED may be inhibited by external cues.  相似文献

Peptides ghrelin, obestatin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) play an important role in regulation of energy homeostasis, the imbalance of which is associated with eating disorders anorexia (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN). The changes in ghrelin, obestatin and NPY plasma levels were investigated in AN and BN patients after administration of a high-carbohydrate breakfast (1604 kJ). Eight AN women (aged 25.4+/-1.9, BMI: 15.8+/-0.5), thirteen BN women (aged 22.0+/-1.05, BMI: 20.1+/-0.41) and eleven healthy women (aged 25.1+/-1.16, BMI: 20.9+/-0.40) were recruited for the study. We demonstrated increased fasting ghrelin in AN, but not in BN patients, while fasting obestatin and NPY were increased in both AN and BN patients compared to the controls. Administration of high-carbohydrate breakfast induced a similar relative decrease in ghrelin and obestatin plasma levels in all groups, while NPY remained increased in postprandial period in both patient groups. Ghrelin/obestatin ratio was lower in AN and BN compared to the controls. In conclusions, increased plasma levels of fasting NPY and its unchanged levels after breakfast indicate that NPY is an important marker of eating disorders AN and BN. Different fasting ghrelin and obestatin levels in AN and BN could demonstrate their diverse functions in appetite and eating suppression.  相似文献

Sex differences in incidence and severity of some stress-related, neuropsychiatric disorders are often reported to favor men, suggesting that women may be more vulnerable to aberrant hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis responses to stress. In this review, we discuss several investigations that we, and others, have conducted assessing salivary cortisol as a measure of HPA function. We have examined basal cortisol among healthy men and women and also following acute exposure to stressors. Among healthy participants, men had higher basal cortisol levels than did women. In response to acute stressors, such as carbon dioxide or noise, respectively, cortisol levels were comparable between men and women or higher among women. We have also examined cortisol levels among those with problem eating, gambling, or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Women with restrained eating habits have higher basal cortisol levels than do women without restrained eating habits. Pathological gamblers have more aberrant stress response to gambling stimuli than do recreational gamblers, and these effects are more prominent among men than women. Men who have motor vehicle accident related PTSD, demonstrate more aberrant cortisol function, than do their female counterparts. Although these sex differences in cortisol seem to vary with type of stress exposure and/or pathophysiological status of the individual, other hormones may influence cortisol response. To address this, cortisol levels among boys and girls with different stress-related experiences, will be the subject of future investigation.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate adrenal steroid hormone secretion in response to corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) or to adrenocorticotropin hormone in women with hypothalamic amenorrhea. DESIGN: Controlled clinical study. SETTING: Department of Reproductive Medicine and Child Development, Section of Gynecology and Obstetrics, University of Pisa, Italy. PATIENT(S): Fifteen women with hypothalamic amenorrhea were enrolled in the study. Eight normal cycling women were used as control group. INTERVENTION(S): Blood samples were collected before and after an injection of ovine CRF (0.1 microg/kg iv bolus) or after synthetic ACTH (0.25 mg iv). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Plasma levels of ACTH, 17-hydroxypregnenolone (17OHPe), progesterone (P), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17OHP), cortisol (F), 11-deoxycortisol (S) and androstenedione (A). RESULT(S): Basal plasma concentrations of ACTH, cortisol, 11-deoxycortisol, DHEA and 17OHPe were significantly higher in patients than in controls, whereas plasma levels of progesterone and 17-OHP were significantly lower in patients than in controls. In amenorrheic women the ratio of 17-OHPe/DHEA, of 17-OHPe/17-OHP and of 11-deoxycortisol/cortisol were significantly higher than in controls, while a significant reduction in the ratio of 17-OHP/androstenedione, of 17-OHP/11-deoxycortisol was obtained. In response to corticotropin-releasing factor test, plasma levels of ACTH, cortisol, 17-OHP, 11-deoxycortisol, DHEA and androstenedione were significantly lower in patients than in controls. In response to adrenocorticotropin hormone, plasma levels of 17-OHP, androstenedione and androstenedione/cortisol were significantly higher in patients than in controls. CONCLUSIONS: Patients suffering for hypothalamic amenorrhea showed an increased activation of hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, as shown by the higher basal levels and by augmented adrenal hormone response to corticotropin-releasing factor administration. These data suggest a possible derangement of adrenal androgen enzymatic pathway.  相似文献

Activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis had been studied for the past half century, when some researchers noted that some patients with Cushing's syndrome and severe mood disorders had high baseline cortisol levels, which resulted in an inhibited response in the 1 mg dexamethasone suppression test. Altered dexamethasone suppression test results were subsequently found in many psychiatric diseases, including anorexia nervosa, obsessive-compulsive disorder, degenerative dementia, bipolar disorders, and schizophrenia. The relationship between high baseline cortisol levels and stress has also been studied. Some researches on the genesis of borderline personality disorder focused on traumatic childhood backgrounds. Other investigations aimed at elucidating the relationship between traumatic backgrounds and some psychiatric disorders noted that patients with post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder showed an enhanced cortisol suppression with low cortisol doses (0.5 mg). Recent studies showed that use of an ultra-low dose of cortisol during the dexamethasone suppression test may be helpful for deteting disorders with hyperactivity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.Recent advances in neuroimaging support the existence of hyperactivity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis in patients with borderline personality disorder, relating a decreased pituitary gland volume to major traumatic backgrounds and suicidal attempts. The purpose of this paper is to make a narrative review of research using dexamethasone suppression test in psychiatric disorders, in order to ascertain its value as a supplemental diagnostic test or as a prognostic marker.  相似文献

Urinary unconjugated cortisol, total 17-oxogenic steroids and cortisol metabolites (THF, allo-THF, THE, cortol and cortolone) were measured in 90 normal women and in 90 women with idiopathic hirsutism of comparable age group. After carrying out Student's "t"-test, the mean steroid excretion values in hirsute women were significantly higher than those from normal females. The results indicate that, due to stress, these hirsute women do have altered adrenocortical function, as assessed by the estimation of these corticosteroids of which urinary unconjugated cortisol was found to be the most sensitive index.  相似文献

Eating disorders are complex brain disorders that afflict millions of individuals worldwide. The etiology of these diseases is not fully understood, but a growing body of literature suggests that stress and anxiety may play a critical role in their development. As our understanding of the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to disease in clinical populations like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder continue to grow, neuroscientists are using animal models to understand the neurobiology of stress and feeding. We hypothesize that eating disorder clinical phenotypes may result from stress‐induced maladaptive alterations in neural circuits that regulate feeding, and that these circuits can be neurochemically isolated using animal model of eating disorders.  相似文献

Using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, urinary excretion rates of cortisol, cortisone and of various steroid metabolites were determined in 35 acromegalic patients (18 men, 17 women) and in 45 age- and weight-matched controls. The ratio of excreted cortisol/cortisone was similar in acromegalics (0.75 +/- 0.20) and in controls (0.75 +/- 0.24). Hence, the preponderance of the main cortisone-derived metabolite, tetrahydrocortisone, over the main metabolites of cortisol (tetrahydrocortisol and allotetrahydrocortisol; p < 0.01), which was seen both in female and in male acromegalics and which was directly correlated with the postglucose concentrations of growth hormone (r = 0.508, p < 0.01), suggests a decreased activity of 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 in acromegaly. Furthermore, the preponderance of etiocholanolone over androsterone (p < 0.01) in men (though not in women) with acromegaly--the ratio androsterone/etiocholanolone being negatively correlated with the serum concentrations of insulin-like growth factor type 1 (r = -0.406, p < 0.05)--suggests a relatively reduced activity of hepatic 5alpha-reductase in male acromegalics.  相似文献

The detrimental effect of stress on the immune response increases with age, though the mechanisms responsible are not fully understood. The physiological response to stress is regulated in part by the adrenocortical system. Adrenal hormones dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEAS) and cortisol have opposing effects on the innate immune system, DHEAS enhances while cortisol suppresses immunity and the molar ratio of cortisol to DHEAS increases with age. We found that elderly hip fracture patients produced a robust neutrophilia after injury, but circulating neutrophils showed an impaired antibacterial response. We therefore proposed that adrenocortical hormones mediate the heightened immunosuppression seen in the elderly after injury. We examined neutrophil function and adrenocortical hormone levels in elderly (> 65 years) hip fracture patients and age-matched healthy controls. Thirteen out of 35 elderly patients acquired infections following hip fracture. Neutrophil superoxide production was lower in elderly hip fracture patients compared with controls (P < 0.005) and lower in patients who acquired infection following injury compared with those who did not (P < 0.05). Serum cortisol:DHEAS ratio was higher in elderly hip fracture patients (0.56 +/- 0.38) compared with either age-matched controls (0.36 +/- 0.21; P < 0.05) or young fracture patients (0.087 +/- 0.033; P < 0.0001). Moreover, cortisol: DHEAS was increased in elderly patients who succumbed to infection compared with those who did not (0.803 +/- 0.42 vs. 0.467 +/- 0.28; P < 0.02). In vitro cortisol significantly decreased neutrophil superoxide generation (P < 0.05) and this was prevented by coincubation with DHEAS. We propose that increased cortisol:DHEAS ratios may contribute to reduced immunity following physical stress in the elderly.  相似文献

Oral dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) replacement therapy may have a multitude of potential beneficial effects and exerts its action mainly via peripheral bioconversion to androgens (and estrogens). A daily dose of 50-mg DHEA has been shown by us and others to restore low endogenous serum DHEA concentrations to normal youthful levels followed by an increase in circulating androgens and estrogens. As the hepatic first-pass effect may lead to a non physiological metabolism of DHEA after oral ingestion we studied the influence of two single DHEA doses (50 and 100 mg) on the excretion of steroid metabolites in 14 elderly males [age 58.8+/-5.1 years (mean +/- SEM)] with endogenous DHEAS levels <1500 ng/ml and in 9 healthy females (age 23.3+/-4.1 years) with transient suppression of endogenous DHEA secretion induced by dexamethasone (dex) pretreatment (4x0.5 mg/day/4 days). Urinary steroid profiles in the elderly males were compared to the steroid patterns found in 15 healthy young men (age 28.9+/-5.1 years). In the females the results were compared to their individual baseline excretion without dex pretreatment. Urinary steroid determinations were carried out by semiautomatic capillary gas-liquid chromatography. In both genders DHEA administration induced significant increases in urinary DHEA (females: baseline vs. 50 mg vs. 100 mg: 361+/-131 vs. 510+/-264 vs. 1541+/-587 microg/day; males: placebo vs. 50 mg vs. 100 mg: 434+/-154 vs. 1174+/-309 vs. 4751+/-1059 microg/day) as well as in the major DHEA metabolites androsterone (A) and etiocholanolone (Et). Fifty mg DHEA led to an excretion of DHEA and its metabolites only slightly above baseline levels found in young females and in young men, respectively, whereas 100 mg induced clearly supraphysiological values. After 50 mg DHEA the ratios of urinary DHEA metabolites (A/DHEA, Et/DHEA) were not significantly different between elderly males vs. young male volunteers and young healthy females versus their individual baseline levels. In conclusion, an oral dose of 30 to 50 mg DHEA restores a physiological urinary steroid profile in subjects with DHEA deficiency without evidence for a relevant hepatic first-pass effect on urinary metabolites.  相似文献

Background

Epilepsy in women may be associated with reproductive disorders and alterations in serum steroid levels. Some steroids can be induced by epilepsy and/or treatment with antiepileptic drugs; however, there are still limited data available concerning this effect on the levels of other neuroactive steroid metabolites such as 3a-hydroxy-5a/b-reduced androstanes.

Aim

To evaluate steroid alterations in women with epilepsy (WWE) on lamotrigine monotherapy.

Subjects and methods

Eleven WWE and 11 age-matched healthy women underwent blood sampling in both phases of their menstrual cycles (MCs). The steroid metabolome, which included 30 unconjugated steroids, 17 steroid polar conjugates, gonadotropins, and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), was measured using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and radioimmunoassay (RIA).

Results

WWE had lower cortisol levels (status p < 0.001), but elevated levels of unconjugated 17-hydroxypregnenolone (status p < 0.001). Progesterone was higher in the follicular menstrual phase (FP) in WWE than in the controls (status × menstrual phase p < 0.05, Bonferroni multiple comparisons p < 0.05), whereas 17-hydroxyprogesterone was higher in WWE in both menstrual phases (status p < 0.001). The steroid conjugates were mostly elevated in WWE. The levels of 5α/β-reduced androstanes in WWE that were significantly higher than the controls were etiocholanolone (status p < 0.001), 5α-androstane-3α,17β-diol (status p < 0.001), and the 5α/β-reduced androstane polar conjugates (status p < 0.001).

Conclusions

WWE showed a trend toward higher circulating 3α-hydroxy-5α/β-reduced androstanes, increased activity of 17α-hydroxylase/17,20 lyase in the Δ5-steroid metabolic pathway, and increased levels of the steroid polar conjugates.  相似文献

Endocannabinoids modulate eating behavior; hence, endocannabinoid genes may contribute to the biological vulnerability to eating disorders. The rs1049353 (1359 G/A) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of the gene coding the endocannabinoid CB1 receptor ( CNR1 ) and the rs324420 (cDNA 385C to A) SNP of the gene coding fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), the major degrading enzyme of endocannabinoids, have been suggested to have functional effects on mature proteins. Therefore, we explored the possibility that those SNPs were associated to anorexia nervosa and/or bulimia nervosa. The distributions of the CNR1 1359 G/A SNP and of the FAAH cDNA 385C to A SNP were investigated in 134 patients with anorexia nervosa, 180 patients with bulimia nervosa and 148 normal weight healthy controls. Additive effects of the two SNPs in the genetic susceptibility to anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa were also tested. As compared to healthy controls, anorexic and bulimic patients showed significantly higher frequencies of the AG genotype and the A allele of the CNR1 1359 G/A SNP. Similarly, the AC genotype and the A allele of the FAAH cDNA 385C to A SNP were significantly more frequent in anorexic and bulimic individuals. A synergistic effect of the two SNPs was evident in anorexia nervosa but not in bulimia nervosa. Present findings show for the first time that the CNR1 1359 G/A SNP and the FAAH cDNA 385C to A SNP are significantly associated to anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, and demonstrate a synergistic effect of the two SNPs in anorexia nervosa.  相似文献

BackgroundStress system consists of the hypothalamicpituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the locus caeruleus/norepinephrine-autonomic nervous system (ANS). Traditionally, HPA axis activity is evaluated by measuring its end-product cortisol, while the activity of ANS is assessed using heart rate variability (HRV) indices. Alterations in cortisol levels and HRV measures during laboratory-based stress tasks were extensively studied in previous research. However, scarce data exist on the associations of HRV measures with the levels of other adrenal steroid hormones under baseline conditions. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the activity of the HPA axis by measuring salivary cortisol, cortisone, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels, and their ratios and to examine its association with HRV measures in a sample of healthy young and middle-aged adults.MethodsFor each participant (n=40), three data collection sessions taking place at the same time of the day were scheduled within five working days. Participants completed a self-reported questionnaire on sociodemographic and lifestyle characteristics, filled out t h e Perceived Stress Scale and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Also, saliva samples were collected, and physiological measures, including resting HR and HRV, were recorded during three data collection sessions.ResultsStatistically significant associations between diminished parasympathetic vagal tone evaluated by time domain HRV measures and higher salivary cortisol, lower DHEA levels, as well as decreased DHEA to cortisol ratio, were found. Also, physiological stress indicators (i.e., HRV) showed greater intraindividual stability compared with biochemical biomarkers (i.e., salivary steroid hormones) within five days.ConclusionsOur findings suggest that both cortisol and DHEA mediate the link between two stress-sensitive homeostatic systems.  相似文献

Of 208 young women with insulin dependent diabetes, 15 (7%) had a clinically apparent eating disorder (anorexia nervosa or bulimia), a much higher prevalence than reported in non-diabetic women. Most, but not all, of these patients had a long history of poor glycaemic control. In contrast with previous suggestions, control did not deteriorate after the onset of the eating disorder. There was a high incidence and an early onset of diabetic complications. Eleven of the 15 patients had retinopathy, six with proliferative changes; six had nephropathy; and six neuropathy. Most strikingly, four patients with anorexia nervosa developed acute painful polyneuropathy. In each case pain started when the eating disorder developed, almost coinciding with the peak of weight reduction. Remission of pain occurred as weight was regained. The symptoms were accompanied by abnormalities in peripheral nerve electrophysiology and autonomic nerve function, some improvements in which accompanied weight recovery. It is suggested that nutritional factors may contribute to the high rate of early onset diabetic complications, particularly neuropathy.  相似文献
