Essential oil (EO) properties of six L. angustifolia (LA) and two L. x intermedia (LI) cultivars were evaluated during summer harvest periods of 2017 and 2018, The cultivars were grown in Dörgicse, Hungary. According to our results, the essential oil (EO) content was highly dependent on the varieties in both experimental years (2017: p < 0.0001 and 2018: p < 0.0001). In 2017, the EO content values of LI accessions were all higher than those of the LA cultivars. However, in 2018, the mean EO content value of ‘Budakalászi’ (LA) (8.2 mL/100g) exceeded that of ‘Grosso’ (LI) (7.7 mL/100g). The EO of ‘Mailette’ (LA) and ‘Budakalászi’ (LA) contained the highest linalool proportions (52.9% and 47.0%) while ‘Beate’ (LA) showed the lowest (18.1%); and this latter variety was richest in linalyl-acetate (58.9%). LI varieties produced lower linalyl acetate and total ester ratios in comparison to the LA cultivars. Concerning EO composition, only the UK varieties ‘Hidcote Blue’ (LA) and ‘Munstead’ (LA) met the requirements of the Ph. Eur.This study provided evidence that the effect of growth year on the EO content was significant only in two varieties out of the eight. However, in the more rainy year 2018, the accumulation of linalool and linalyl acetate was significantly affected in several cases, where linalool proportions decreased and linalyl acetate ratios increased.  相似文献

The involvement of ethylene in shoot formation in vitro was studied in one year old lavandin (Lavandula officinalis Chaix x Lavandula latifoliaVillars) callus. A peak in ethylene evolution characterized thenon-regenerating leaf callus line, as compared to the shoot-forming calyxcallus line, on the growth medium provided with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (1 mg dm-3) and kinetin (0.5 mg dm-3). After one year in culture, calyxcallus attained the capacity to grow on auxin-reduced media, showing decreased ethylene production and faster shoot bud emergence, when transferred onto the regeneration medium, supplemented with 10 mg dm-3 benzyladenine. Shoot formation was also inhibited by addition of the ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid, indicating an involvement of ethylene in the failure of regeneration. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Polyploidization and transposon elements contribute to shape plant genome diversity and secondary metabolic variation in some edible crops. However, the specific contribution of these variations to the chemo-diversity of Lamiaceae, particularly in economic shrubs, is still poorly documented. The rich essential oils (EOs) of Lavandula plants are distinguished by monoterpenoids among the main EO-producing species, L. angustifolia (LA), L. × intermedia (LX) and L. latifolia (LL). Herein, the first allele-aware chromosome-level genome was assembled using a lavandin cultivar ‘Super’ and its hybrid origin was verified by two complete subgenomes (LX-LA and LX-LL). Genome-wide phylogenetics confirmed that LL, like LA, underwent two lineage-specific WGDs after the γ triplication event, and their speciation occurred after the last WGD. Chloroplast phylogenetic analysis indicated LA was the maternal source of ‘Super’, which produced premium EO (higher linalyl/lavandulyl acetate and lower 1,8-cineole and camphor) close to LA. Gene expression, especially the monoterpenoid biosynthetic genes, showed bias to LX-LA alleles. Asymmetric transposon insertions in two decoupling ‘Super’ subgenomes were responsible for speciation and monoterpenoid divergence of the progenitors. Both hybrid and parental evolutionary analysis revealed that LTR (long terminal repeat) retrotransposon associated with AAT gene loss cause no linalyl/lavandulyl acetate production in LL, and multi-BDH copies retained by tandem duplication and DNA transposon resulted in higher camphor accumulation of LL. Advances in allelic variations of monoterpenoids have the potential to revolutionize future lavandin breeding and EO production.  相似文献

Toxicity for albino rats is very low. In mice an anxiolytic effect is exhibited and the pentobarbital evokated sleeping time is increased in animals given essential oil, but this effect disappears if they are administrated during five days.  相似文献

Ethylene production and growth of callus cultures of lavandin (Lavandula offidnalis Cham x Lavandula latifolia Villars) cv. Grosso were examined. Callus lines, derived from various kinds of primary expiants (shoot tip, leaf and calyx), exhibited differences in ethylene production patterns independent of callus growth. Moreover these differences could not be ascribed to the expiant source. Within a line, ethylene pattern paralleled callus growth curve. Variations in ethylene evolution were induced in shoot tip callus by means of ACC, AVG and varied amounts of 2,4-D in the culture medium. Following all these treatments callus growth was not altered. Hie decrease in 2,4-D concentration caused changes in Chl a and water content of the tissues.  相似文献

The role of ethylene in the formation of adventitious roots in vitro was studied in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. UC 105) cotyledons and lavandin (Lavandula officinalis Chaix × Lavandula latifolia microshoots. Both systems were able to form roots on hormone-free medium evolving low amounts of ethylene. The addition of 20–50 M indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) inhibited root formation in tomato cotyledons while increasing ethylene production. Naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA, 3 M) stimulated root number in lavandin explants and induced a transient rise in ethylene evolution. Enhanced ethylene levels via the endogenous precursors 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC, 25–50 M) drastically impaired root regeneration and growth in tomato. In lavandin, 10 M ACC stimulated ethylene production and significantly inhibited the rooting percentage and root growth. Conversely, ACC enhanced the root number in the presence of NAA only. Severe inhibition of rooting was also caused by ethylene reduction via biosynthetic inhibitors, aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG, 5–10 M) in tomato, and salicylic acid (SA, 100 M) in lavandin. A strict requirement of endogenous ethylene for adventitious root induction and growth is thus suggested.Abbreviations LS Linsmaier and Skoog medium - BA N6-benzyladenine - NAA 1-naphthaleneacetic acid - IAA Indole-3-acetic acid - AVG Aminoethoxyvinylglycine - SA Salicylic acid - ACC 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid  相似文献

Medicine has often been approached as a thing apart from culture, as a uniform Western science. Within the past 10 years, we have begun to recognize that medicine is a system of beliefs and practices intrinsically linked to its larger sociocultural context. Still, it is generally perceived as uniform across North America and Western Europe. My recent research on French and American medical perspectives on the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) challenges this view by exploring differences in the structure of health care, the physician-patient relationship, and the conceptualizations of disease, particularly AIDS. These differences are not specific to AIDS, but the disease serves to exemplify them and to act as a medium for expressing what makes French and American medicine distinct. Global epidemics such as AIDS require both international response and cross-cultural understanding.  相似文献

Cytotoxicity of lavender oil and its major components to human skin cells   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Abstract.  Lavender ( Lavandula angustifolia ) oil, chiefly composed of linalyl acetate (51%) and linalool (35%), is considered to be one of the mildest of known plant essential oils and has a history in wound healing. Concerns are building about the potential for irritant or allergenic skin reactions with the use of lavender oil. This study has demonstrated that lavender oil is cytotoxic to human skin cells in vitro (endothelial cells and fibroblasts) at a concentration of 0.25% (v/v) in all cell types tested (HMEC-1, HNDF and 153BR). The major components of the oil, linalyl acetate and linalool, were also assayed under similar conditions for their cytotoxicity. The activity of linalool reflected that of the whole oil, indicating that linalool may be the active component of lavender oil. Linalyl acetate cytotoxicity was higher than that of the oil itself, suggesting suppression of its activity by an unknown factor in the oil. Membrane damage is proposed as the possible mechanism of action.  相似文献

The networks generated by live animal movements are the principal vector for the propagation of infectious agents between farms, and their topology strongly affects how fast a disease may spread. The structural characteristics of networks may thus provide indicators of network vulnerability to the spread of infectious disease. This study applied social network analysis methods to describe the French swine trade network. Initial analysis involved calculating several parameters to characterize networks and then identifying high-risk subgroups of holdings for different time scales. Holding-specific centrality measurements (‘degree’, ‘betweenness’ and ‘ingoing infection chain’), which summarize the place and the role of holdings in the network, were compared according to the production type. In addition, network components and communities, areas where connectedness is particularly high and could influence the speed and the extent of a disease, were identified and analysed. Dealer holdings stood out because of their high centrality values suggesting that these holdings may control the flow of animals in part of the network. Herds with growing units had higher values for degree and betweenness centrality, representing central positions for both spreading and receiving disease, whereas herds with finishing units had higher values for in-degree and ingoing infection chain centrality values and appeared more vulnerable with many contacts through live animal movements and thus at potentially higher risk for introduction of contagious diseases. This reflects the dynamics of the swine trade with downward movements along the production chain. But, the significant heterogeneity of farms with several production units did not reveal any particular type of production for targeting disease surveillance or control. Besides, no giant strong connected component was observed, the network being rather organized according to communities of small or medium size (<20% of network size). Because of this fragmentation, the swine trade network appeared less structurally vulnerable than ruminant trade networks. This fragmentation is explained by the hierarchical structure, which thus limits the structural vulnerability of the global trade network. However, inside communities, the hierarchical structure of the swine production system would favour the spread of an infectious agent (especially if introduced in breeding herds).  相似文献

An efficient protocol for the regeneration of lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia cv. 'Grosso') is reported. Thiadazuron (9 μM), a plant growth-modulating phenylurea, was used to induce callus formation and shoot initiation from cultured leaf explants. Newly emerged shoots were maintained on media containing 0.05 μM naphthaleneacetic acid to allow maturation, and then transferred to media containing 2.9 μM indole-3-acetic acid to allow root formation. The phenolic control agents polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), ascorbic acid, 2-aminoindane-2-phosphonic acid, and activated charcoal were tested for their ability to prevent shoot browning and death in culture. All agents except PVP were found to be effective, with ascorbic acid being most consistent in promoting development of healthy mature shoots. The effect of light type (red light vs. white light) and culture medium composition (full- and half-strength Murashige and Skoog or Llyod and McCown’s woody plant medium (WPM)) on rooting efficiency was also evaluated. Cultures on half-strength WPM in white light were found to have the highest rooting efficiency. Additionally, application of the polyamines putrescine, spermine, and spermidine were tested for their effect on rooting. While rooting efficiency was not improved with any of the treatments, spermine and spermidine were found to have an inhibitory effect at concentrations greater than 10 μM.  相似文献

Immature plants ofLavandula angustifolia x L. latifolia (cv. Twickle Purple) were sprayed with Atrinal and P293 when the growing shoots bore four to six expanded leaves. Atrinal increased the number of inflorescences per plant by stimulating otherwise dormant axillary buds on the shoots of the current season. The number of nonflowering shoots arising on older wood was also increased. The number of florets and the fresh weight per inflorescence were reduced, but the number of florets per plant was increased overall. Oil content per plant was doubled without altering oil composition or floret structure. Flower stalks were shortened below and between the floral nodes. Atrinal sprays achieved a machine-harvestable canopy in 3-year-old plants. Untreated plants required a full year longer to develop similar canopies. P293 and manual disbudding were not as effective as Atrinal. It is suggested that such spray treatments have a useful potential in reducing the time required for the development of the mature canopy form, and so obtaining earlier financial returns on establishment costs.  相似文献
