A new species, Neolepidapedon smithi, is described from the fish Mora moro in the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean and is distinguished from other members of the genus. It differs from its congeners in the extension of the vitellarium into the forebody and/or the body shape. The genus Neolepidapedon is reviewed and a key to species given. The genus has previously contained up to 20 species, but is here restricted to eight species, which possess a very thick male duct wall within the cirrus-sac, a narrow internal seminal vesicle, an excretory vesicle restricted to the hindbody and no eye-spots. The remaining nominal species with a relatively thin-walled internal male duct, a globular internal seminal vesicle, an excretory system which reaches into the forebody and eye-spots are considered to belong to a separate group which is related to Opechona. Some of these species were included by Yamaguti (1971) in his new subgenus Neolepidapedon (Neolepidapedoides), which is raised to full generic status. Eight new combinations are made: Neolepidapedoides belizensis (Fischthal, 1977), N. dollfusi (Durio & Manter, 1968), N. equilatum (Siddiqi & Cable, 1960), N. hypoplectri (Nahhas & Cable, 1964), N. israelense (Fischthal, 1980), N. macrum (Overstreet, 1969), N. medialunae (Montgomery, 1957) and N. mycteropercae (Siddiqi & Cable, 1960).  相似文献

Results of the study of over 10 thousand specimens of Nomiinae, mostly from the collection of the Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg). Two new synonyms are ascertained: Nomia inermis Morawitz, 1894 = Nomia orientana Warncke, 1976, syn. n. = Pseudapis guichardi Pauly, 1990, syn. n. The lectotypes of the following nominal taxa of the species group are designated: Nomia areocincta var. turcomanica Radoszkowski, N. edentata ssp. elengantissima Popov, N. inermis Morawitz, N. latipes Morawitz, N. squamata Morawitz, and N. tadzhica Popov. Distribution ranges of 11 species are significantly extended owing to the new material examined: Pseudapis elegantissima (Popov) are recorded from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan for the first time; Pseudapis inermis (Morawitz), from Georgia; Nomiapis armata (Olivier), N. equestris (Gerstäcker), Pseudapis bytinski (Warncke), and P. edentata (Morawitz), from Azerbaijan; Nomiapis valga (Gerstäcker) and Pseudapis rufescens (Morawitz), from Kazakhstan; Nomiapis bispinosa (Brullé), from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrghyzstan; N. squamata (Morawitz), from Kyrghyzstan and Iran; N. femoralis (Pallas), from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. An annotated list of 26 species of Nomiinae provided with data on their synonymy and distribution is given.  相似文献

The present paper is the third part of a revision of the fauna of the Volga Area. Five species new for the Volga Area, including four new for Russia are recorded. Nudicauda gen. n. is erected with type species Nudicauda nigra (Matesova, 1957) (comb. n.). The new genus differs from other genera of mealybugs in a complex of characters and mainly in the presence of very specific oral rim tubular ducts with a broad flat ring and in an unusual ovisac with the opening over posterior tergites of the female body. In addition to the type species, N. orientalis (Borchsenius, 1949) and N. salina (Matesova, 1981) (comb. n.) are also included in the new genus. N. nigra and N. orientalis are considered as separate species, contrary to Danzig (1980). All the three species of the new genus are redescribed and illustrated. The structure of the tubular ducts of the genus Humococcus Ferris, 1953 is briefly discussed and illustrated.  相似文献

Neocosmocercella fisherae n. sp. is the first nematode species found parasitising Phyllomedusa bicolor from the Brazilian Amazon Region. The new species has a triangular oral opening, with bi-lobed lips, and is distinguished from N. bakeri (triangular oral opening with simple lips), and from N. paraguayensis (hexagonal oral opening with bi-lobed lips). Additionally, the new species has ciliated cephalic papillae, which are absent in the other species of the genus. The reduced uterine sac and the presence of a single egg in the uterus in females are the main morphological characters that differentiate the new species from its congeners N. bakeri (8–10 eggs) and N. paraguayensis (10 eggs, based on the allotype). Additionally, the new species differs from the other two species of the genus by morphometric characters such as the size of spicules and gubernaculum in males and the vagina in females. Until now, phyllomedusid anurans are the only known hosts for the nematodes of this genus. The present work describes the third species of the genus and the first species of nematode parasitising P. bicolor.  相似文献

The present paper revises the species belonging to the Neoserica (sensu lato) abnormis group, so far known only with two nominal species. Twenty new species are herein described from Indochina and southern China: N. abnormoides sp. n. (Vietnam, China), N. allolaotica sp. n., N. namthaensis sp. n., N. simplicissima sp. n. (Laos), N. thailandensis sp. n. (Thailand), N. alloputaoana sp. n., N. kanphantensis sp. n., N. natmatoungensis sp. n., N. putaoana sp. n., N. taunggyiana sp. n. (Myanmar), N. lamellosa sp. n., N. tonkinea sp. n. (Vietnam), N. bairailingshanica sp. n., N. euyunnanica sp. n., N. huangi sp. n., N. jiangxiensis sp. n., N. trifida sp. n., N. yaoi sp. n., N. yingjiangensis sp. n. (China), N. cardamomensis sp. n. (Indochina and southern China). One new combination is established: Neoserica ponderosa Arrow, 1946, comb. n. The lectotypes of Neoserica abnormis Moser, 1908 and the taxonomically uncertain N. inclinata Brenske, 1898, which very likely also belongs to this species group, are designated herein. A key to the species and to species groups is given, the genitalia of all species including their habitus are illustrated. Maps of species distribution are included.  相似文献

Species of the fish genusNemipterus (Nemipteridae) from Japan and Taiwan are reviewed. A key, diagnoses and synonymies are provided for 9 species, including a new species:N. aurora sp. nov. (previously misidentified asN. delagoae Smith);N. bathybius Snyder;N. furcosus (Valenciennes) [mistakenly referred to asN. peronii (Valenciennes)];N. hexodon (Quoy et Gaimard);N. japonicus (Bloch);N. peronii (Valenciennes) [previously referred to asN. tolu (Valenciennes), a junior synonym];N. thosaporni Russell [previously misidentified asN. marginatus (Valenciennes)];N. virgatus (Houttuyn); andN. zysron (Bleeker) [previously referred to asN. metopias (Bleeker), a junior synonym].N. aurora is described from specimens from Taiwan, the Gulf of Thailand, East Malaysia and Indonesia. It appears to be closely allied toN. bipunctatus (Ehrenberg) (N. delagoae is a junior synonym), an Indian Ocean species, but the two species are readily distinguished on the basis of colour pattern of the dorsal and anal fins:N. aurora has a broad orange-yellow submedial stripe along the dorsal fin, and a lemon submedial stripe on the anal fin; whereas inN. bipunctatus the dorsal fin is uniformly rosy, and the anal fin has 2–4 wavy yellow stripes.  相似文献

The ranges of eight species [Fallenia fasciata (Fabricius, 1805), Neorhynchocephalus tauscheri (Fischer, 1812), Nemestrinus caucasicus (Fischer, 1806), N. bombiformis Portschinsky, 1892, N. brandti (Bequaert, 1938), N. laetus obscuripennis (Portschinsky, 1887), N. reticulatus Latreille, 1802, and Trichopsidea costata (Loew, 1875)] from Eastern Europe and the Caucasus are discussed. With the exception of Nemestrinus caucasicus, the other species are rare in the territory studied; their latest findings are referred to the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These species should be considered as endangered species and included into the Red Data Books of the corresponding regions. N. obscuripennis (Portschinsky, 1887) is regarded as a Caucasian-Anatolian subspecies of N. laetus (Loew, 1873) basing on the study of lecto-and paratypes of the former. This is the 5th part in a series on the family Lecithoceridae (Lepidoptera, Gelechioidea) of New Guinea. Two new genera, Neotimyra gen. nov. and Strombiola gen. nov. are proposed. There are five new species in the genus Neotimyra (N. senara sp. nov., N. milleri sp. nov., N. gyriola sp. nov., N. warkapiensis sp. nov., and N. nemoralis sp. nov.), and one new species in the genus Strombiola (S. papuana sp. nov.). The first Eocene species of the tribe Helopini, Nalassus klebsi sp. nov., from the Baltic amber is described. The new species is included in the nominative subgenus and similar to the extant species N. dermestoides (Illiger) and N. laevioctostriatus (Goeze), from which it differs in the shape of eyes (eyes are considerably less transverse than in living Palearctic species of the genus Nalassus Mulsant), the shape of the pronotum with acute posterior angles (other Palearctic Nalassus have obtuse or straight pronotal angles) as well as convex elytral intervals. Species of the less specialized nominative subgenus are widespread in forests and (partly) alpine landscapes of Europe (eastwards up to the Urals) and eastern Asia.  相似文献

The genus Neophasis is defined. The taxonomic status of the genus is discussed in the light of its life-cycle, hosts and cercarial and adult morphology. It is considered to be closest to the family Acanthocolpidae due to the utilisation of a fish second intermediate host, the form of the cercarial excretory system and, in the adult, the presence of a uterine seminal receptacle and the absence of an external seminal vesicle. The taxonomic value of morphological features are discussed and a key to the north Atlantic species given. The following species are described: Neophasis oculatus (Levinsen) from Myoxocephalus scorpius off West Greenland (type-material), Norway and Denmark, Lycodes esmarkii off NW Scotland and the Faroes, and L. vahli off Newfoundland; N. burti n. sp. (distinguished from N. oculatus by sucker-ratio and testicular configuration) from Myoxocephalus octodecemspinosus off Nova Scotia (type-locality) and New Brunswick, also? immature in Gadus morhua from the Gulf of St. Lawrence; N. anarrhichae (Nicoll) from Anarhichas lupus in the North Sea and off the Faroes; and N. pusilla Stafford from A. lupus off ‘eastern Canada’ (type-material) and Nova Scotia. The only other species in the genus is N. symmetrorchis Machida from the NW Pacific Ocean.  相似文献

In the present paper the species belonging to the Neoserica (sensu lato) septemlamellata group, that included so far only four known species, are revised. Here we describe eleven new species originating mainly from Indochina and Southern China: N. daweishanica sp. n., N. gaoligongshanica sp. n., N. guangpingensis sp. n., N. igori sp. n., N. jiulongensis sp. n., N. plurilamellata sp. n., N. weishanica sp. n., N. yanzigouensis sp. n. (China) N. sapaensis sp. n. (China, Vietnam), N. bansongchana sp. n., N. takakuwai sp. n. (Laos). The lectotypes of Neoserica septemlamellata Brenske, 1898 and N. septemfoliata Moser, 1915 are designated. A new bomolochid copepod belonging to the genus Nothobomolochus Vervoort, 1962 is described from a Red Sea fish species, a ponyfish of the family Leiognathidae that has become established in the Eastern Mediterranean. The new species, N. leiognathicola n. sp., is based on material obtained from the gill chamber of the Red Sea immigrant ponyfish Leiognathus klunzingeri (Steindachner), caught in Egyptian waters off the Alexandria coast at Abuqir. A second new species, N. monodi n. sp., is established to accommodate some material previously described as N. denticulatus (Bassett-Smith, 1898), from the host Hemiramphus far Forsskål. A review of host records reveals that Nothobomolochus species utilise hosts representing five different orders, but are most commonly found on beloniform, clupeiform and perciform fishes. A newly constructed key to the 37 valid species of Nothobomolochus is presented.  相似文献

The taxonomy of all species of Narcissus (Amaryllidaceae), an important horticultural crop, has not been investigated recently. As a new approach, genome size was determined by flow cytometry with propidium iodide from 375 accessions. The somatic nuclear DNA contents (2C) were shown to range from 14 to 38 pg for the diploids. Narcissus assoanus and N. gaditanus are, based on their nuclear DNA content, removed from section Apodanthi and placed in a new section Juncifolii. The different ploidy levels and species involved were entangled for N . “fernandesii” s.l. and a new allotetraploid form is named here. Section Pseudonarcissus was much more heterogeneous in nuclear DNA content than expected. Sixty-five accessions of N. pseudonarcissus possessed, with 23.7 pg, similar amounts of DNA. However, several species from this section were clearly distinctive in nuclear DNA content. It runs from the diploid N. primigenius with 21.7 pg to the also diploid N. nevadensis with 38.2 pg. Also N. abscissus and N. moleroi are with about 26 pg clearly different from N. pseudonarcissus. For the first time, in 11 accessions, hexaploidy was found in N. pseudonarcissus ssp. bicolor. A new section Nevadensis with 30–39 pg of nuclear DNA was split off from the section Pseudonarcissus with now 21–27 pg. A nonoploid N. dubius with 96.3 pg has by far the highest amount of nuclear DNA and can be calculated to have the highest ploidy ever reported in Narcisssus. The total number of Narcissus species was determined as 36, nine more than in Flora Europaea and they were divided up in two subgenera and 11 sections. Flow cytometry is shown to produce easily obtainable and original systematic data that lead to new insights. Genome size or C-value turns out to be one of the most salient features to define the status of the species in the genus Narcissus.  相似文献

The maskray from New Caledonia, Neotrygon trigonoides Castelnau, 1873, has been recently synonymized with the blue-spotted maskray, N. kuhlii (Müller and Henle, 1841), a species with wide Indo-West Pacific distribution, but the reasons for this are unclear. Blue-spotted maskray specimens were collected from the Indian Ocean (Tanzania, Sumatra) and the Coral Triangle (Indonesia, Taiwan, and West Papua), and N. trigonoides specimens were collected from New Caledonia (Coral-Sea). Their partial COI gene sequences were generated to expand the available DNA-barcode database on this species, which currently comprises homologous sequences from Ningaloo Reef, the Coral Triangle and the Great Barrier Reef (Coral-Sea). Spotting patterns were also compared across regions. Haplotypes from the Coral-Sea formed a haplogroup phylogenetically distinct from all other haplotypes sampled in the Indo-West Pacific. No clear-cut geographic composition relative to DNA-barcodes or spotting patterns was apparent in N. kuhlii samples across the Indian Ocean and the Coral Triangle. The New Caledonian maskray had spotting patterns markedly different from all the other samples. This, added to a substantial level of net nucleotide divergence (2.6%) with typical N. kuhlii justifies considering the New Caledonian maskray as a separate species, for which we propose to resurrect the name Neotrygon trigonoides.  相似文献

Background

Although numerous studies model species distributions, these models are almost exclusively on single species, while studies of evolutionary lineages are preferred as they by definition study closely related species with shared history and ecology. Hermit spiders, genus Nephilengys, represent an ecologically important but relatively species-poor lineage with a globally allopatric distribution. Here, we model Nephilengys global habitat suitability based on known localities and four ecological parameters.

Methodology/Principal Findings

We geo-referenced 751 localities for the four most studied Nephilengys species: N. cruentata (Africa, New World), N. livida (Madagascar), N. malabarensis (S-SE Asia), and N. papuana (Australasia). For each locality we overlaid four ecological parameters: elevation, annual mean temperature, annual mean precipitation, and land cover. We used linear backward regression within ArcGIS to select two best fit parameters per species model, and ModelBuilder to map areas of high, moderate and low habitat suitability for each species within its directional distribution. For Nephilengys cruentata suitable habitats are mid elevation tropics within Africa (natural range), a large part of Brazil and the Guianas (area of synanthropic spread), and even North Africa, Mediterranean, and Arabia. Nephilengys livida is confined to its known range with suitable habitats being mid-elevation natural and cultivated lands. Nephilengys malabarensis, however, ranges across the Equator throughout Asia where the model predicts many areas of high ecological suitability in the wet tropics. Its directional distribution suggests the species may potentially spread eastwards to New Guinea where the suitable areas of N. malabarensis largely surpass those of the native N. papuana, a species that prefers dry forests of Australian (sub)tropics.

Conclusions

Our model is a customizable GIS tool intended to predict current and future potential distributions of globally distributed terrestrial lineages. Its predictive potential may be tested in foreseeing species distribution shifts due to habitat destruction and global climate change.  相似文献

Three new species of the recently discovered, and hitherto monotypic, feather mite genus Nanopterodectes Mironov, 2009 are described: N. acutirostris n. sp. from Stymphalornis acutirostris Bornschein, Reinert & Teixeira, N. mentalis n. sp. from Dysithamnus mentalis (Temminck), and N. leucopterus n. sp. from Pyriglena leucoptera (Vieillot). This feather mite genus is currently restricted to passerine birds of the Neotropical family Thamnophilidae in Brazil. A key to the known species of Nanopterodectes is presented for both sexes.  相似文献
