Triple recognition of B-DNA

A novel conjugate of Hoechst 33258, pyrene and neomycin was synthesized and examined for its binding and stabilization of A-T rich DNA duplexes using spectroscopic and viscometric techniques. The conjugate, containing three well known ligands that bind nucleic acids albeit in different binding modes, was found to significantly stabilize DNA over parent conjugates containing only one or both of the other recognition elements. The study represents the first example of DNA molecular recognition capable of minor/major groove recognition in conjunction with intercalation.     

Triple Starr Valve Replacement

Of nine patients who have had triple valve replacements for organic rheumatic triple valve disease two died in the postoperative period from inadequate myocardial reserve, and a third died four months later from cerebral embolism originating from clot on the left atrial wall. The remainder are well and, except for one, leading normal lives. Though cardiac transplantation has been recommended and used successfully for triple valve disease by Cooley, it is suggested that the long-term outlook today of triple valve replacement is likely to be better than that of transplantation.

Triple benefits from spatial resource management

Standard fishery management models suggest that regulations designed to produce maximum rent should reduce effort – and thus employment – from its open-access level. Using a simple diffusion model, we show that the opposite can be true when the spatial distribution of effort, as well as the total amount of effort, can be controlled. Under certain ecological and economic circumstances that we describe, optimal spatial management can produce “triple benefits” compared to open access: an increase in rent, an increase in standing stock, and an increase in employment. A Dioxan Technic for Triple Staining

The first part of the paper summarizes the ways in which technicians have used dioxan in the various phases of microtechnic. The rest of the paper consists of a detailed account of the use of dioxan in triple staining. Specific directions are given for modifications of Castroviejo's method and Mallory's triple connective tissue stain. Special emphasis is placed upon the fact that dioxan will not wash the stains out of the sections in the dehydrating process to any great extent. This makes triple staining easier.     

Triple Fixation Suture in Operative Gynecology

A secure three-point fixation suture for large tissue pedicles is described. It is particularly applicable to vaginal hysterectomy but is also useful during abdominal hysterectomy.
