Representatives of the Tradescantia geniculata alliance (genus Gibasis Rafin.) in cultivation at Kew display considerable cytological and morphological diversity. Chromosome complements consist of either large or small chromosomeS. Plants with small chromosomes have either 2 n = 16 or 2 n = 32, and all form only bivalents at meiosis and have presumed basic numbers of x – 8 and x = 8 or 16 respectively. The 2 n = 32 accessions are considered to represent T.geniculata in its strict sense; the identity of the 2 n =16 plant is uncertain. Plants with large chromosomes have either 2 n = 16 or 2n = 20 and each forms quadrivalents to the extent that they can be considered as cytological autotetraploidS. Basic numbers are then x = 4 and x =5, the lowest yet recorded for the Commelinaceae. The identity of the x = 4 species is uncertain. The x = 5 plants are readily identified as T.karwinskyana. 相似文献

The appearance of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse on hand-painted window blinds in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, presents an interesting convergence of globalization, local entrepreneurship, and artistic and cultural appropriation. In adopting these cartoon characters, the painter has created a livelihood for himself, but he has also identified with them in more personal ways and found in them an artistic focus. Plate count and spectrophotometric methods have been used to asses the ability of an organism to attach to different surfaces
and form biofilms. In the present study we report a highly sensitive, specific and quick method to check the role of flagellin
in bacterial adhesion to polystyrene. Flagellin from Stenotrophomonas maltophilia showed high affinity for polystyrene (P < 0.05), which decreased on pretreatment of flagellin with anti-flagellin in a dilution dependent manner. In an enzyme immunoassay
format a positive correlation was detected between the anti-flagellin dilutions and flagellin attachment to polystyrene (correlation
coefficient +0.860155). These evidences conclusively prove the involvement of flagella in the adhesion of S. maltophilia to polystyrene surface and enzyme immunoassay, a quick and reliable method to check this phenomenon. 相似文献

Polemonium kiushianum is a critically endangered species of which only eight populations exist in semi-natural grasslands of the Mt. Aso area of
Kyushu, Japan. Habitat modification and the risk of hybridization with non-indigenous horticultural congeners, such as P. caeruleum subsp. caeruleum and P. caeruleum subsp. yezoense var. yezoense, pose increasing threats to P. kiushianum. To develop a DNA marker that distinguishes P. kiushianum from other Polemonium species, we performed random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis and selected an approximately 500-bp fragment generated
by the OPB06 RAPD primer. In addition, we designed a primer pair, H11F/R, based on the nucleotide sequences of the fragments
derived from P. caeruleum subsp. caeruleum and P. caeruleum subsp. yezoense var. yezoense. The results with the H11F/R primers indicated that most extant P. kiushianum plants in natural populations are not genetically contaminated by hybridization with non-indigenous horticultural species. 相似文献
