A 16-year-old girl with trisomy 9p is described. She had a short stature, severe mental retardation and the following abnormal clinical findings: peculiar face with hypertelorism, downward slanting palpebral fissures, convergent strabismus, a bulbous nose with broad and prominent bridge, short upper lip, narrow, high-arched palate; short neck with low hairline; severe kyphoscoliosis and a congenital clubfoot deformity; hypoplasia and dysplasia of several phalanges of the fingers and toes and some nails, a delay by about 6 years in bone age, and remarkable dermatoglyphic patterns. The father and 3 other family members carried a balanced translocation between chromosomes 9 and 13, t(9;13)(q13;q12).  相似文献

Summary Partial trisomy (interchromosomal duplication) of the short arm of chromosome No. 12 was observed in an infant girl with psychomotor retardation, prominent forehead, ptosis of the right eyelid, esotropia/exotropia, flat nose, hypotonia and other anomalies. A comparison of her features with those in five reported cases with a similar chromosomal imbalance shows certain features common to all, but the material is too limited for definitive characterization of a trisomy 12p syndrome.  相似文献

We describe a patient with partial trisomy 3p resulting from maternal translocation, t(3:4)(p23;q35). The male newborn who died at the age of 22 hours presented with distinct facial features including a square-shaped face with prominent forehead and depressed temporal regions, prominent cheeks, short broad nose, left cleft lip and cleft palate, malformed ears, and a receding mandible. Further findings were flexion deformities of the fingers with finger-like thumbs and mild cutaneous syndactyly 2/3 and 4/5, hypoplastic penis and scrotum with no palpable testes. He probably had a congenital heart defect and situs inversus abdominalis. Many of these features have been reported in other patients with distal trisomy 3p.  相似文献

Summary A 31-year-old boy revealed moderate motor and mental retardation, normal growth, a congenital heart defect and multiple minor dysmorphic signs and anomalies including brachycephaly, orbital hypotelorism, upward slanting palpebral fissures, short and beaked nose, full cheeks, malformed auricles, hypoplastic external genitalia, rocker-bottom feet with prominent heels, and various minor radiologic anomalies of bones. An extra chromosome in his karyotype appeared to represent trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 20 due to a maternally inherited balanced t(13;20)(p11;q11) translocation.  相似文献

Summary Two cases of partial trisomy 8q are presented. Common clinical features included severe mental and physical retardation, a prominent and short forehead, widely set mongoloid eyes, broad, flat nose with short septum, short upper lip, misshapen ears, a funnel chest, hypertrichosis of the back, coxa valga, and short fingers with brachymesophalangy and clinodactyly of the little fingers. Moreover, Case 1 had a frontal meningocele and bilateral talipes equinovarus, and Case 2 had a ventricular septal defect. The chromosome aberration in the two girls arose from a maternal balanced translocation, t(8;18) (q2309;p113). Since the major clinical features of mosaic trisomy 8 are absent in the two girls and in other cases of partial trisomy, both for the distal segment of the lang arm and for the short arm of chromosome 8, it is concluded that trisomy of the proximal part of the long arm of chromosome 8 causes most of the clinical findings of trisomy 8 mosaicism syndrome.  相似文献

We describe the prenatal diagnosis and fetal phenotype of partial trisomy 12 (p12-pter) transmitted from a maternal reciprocal translocation 6;12. Genetic analysis was conducted on umbilical cord blood for a fetus accompanied with tricuspid regurgitation and orbital hypertelorism from a 27-year-old gravida 4, para 1 after sonography at gestation 35weeks. The karyotype was unusual, with 46, XY, der (6), t (6;12) (p24; p12) mat. The pregnancy was terminated at 37 gestational weeks. The aborted fetus displayed dysmorphic features of a round flat face with prominent cheeks and high forehead, hypertelorism, short nose, broad and depressed nasal bridge, anteverted nares, deformed philtrum, open mouth, thin upper vermilion and broad everted lower lip, low-set ears and aural atresia, broad hands with simian creases, and a short neck. Fetal anatomy showed right artery catheter vagus, congenital cataract, no turbinate and external auditory canals. Through karyotype-phenotype analysis of this patient and a review of other reported cases, we believe this is a first report that expands the database of partial trisomy 12p, and is beneficial for future clinical genetic counseling. This study supports that phenotypic variability depends on the type and extent of the associated partial monosomy.  相似文献

Summary The first case of trisomy of probable 12p mosaicism originated de novo is presented. Comparison of the clinical findings of this patient with those of previously described cases of 12p trisomy derived from translocated chromosomes indicates that the symptoms of 12p trisomy are: (1) normal birth weight and physical development, (2) severe psychomotor retardation and generalized hypotonia, (3) peculiarly round face with prominent cheeks, hypertelorism, epicanthus, broad, flat nasal bridge, short nose with anteverted nostrils, large philtrum, broad, prominent lower lip, and (4) poly(syn)dactyly of feet.  相似文献

Summary R banding of the fine structure of the chromatids has enabled us to study a new case of trisomy for the short arm of chromosome 9. The syndrome+9p was due to nondisjunction of a maternal translocation t(9;20)(q12;p13).  相似文献

Summary Cytogenetic findings in a case of partial trisomy 6p due to a translocation t(6;20)(p21;p13) and eleven balanced translocation heterozygotes are described. The clinical data of the proposita are compared with those of five other published cases. A partial trisomy 6p syndrome is postulated, characterized by: low birth weight, psychomotor retardation, craniofacial abnormalities (such as high prominent forehead, large fontanel, wide sagittal suture, blepharoptosis, low-set and/or malformed ears), congenital heart malformation, small kidneys, and proteinuria. Linkage studies have shown that the breakpoint in chromosome 6 involved in this translocation is close to the HLA gene cluster.  相似文献

A clinically normal mother of three retarded children has been determined by G-banding to have a balanced translocation 46,XX,t(13;20) (q34;p11.2). The children each have an unbalanced form of the translocation with partial trisomy for 20p. Extensive gene marker studies have been unable to affix any specific gene locus onto the short arm of chromosome 20. The balanced translocation was inherited from the maternal grandfather. Two phenotypically abnormal deceased members of the family are believed to have had the unbalanced trisomy 20p condition. An increases number of spontaneous abortions were possibly due to lethal unbalanced 20p deletions. The moderate to mild mental retardation and somewhate unusual features (round face, prominent cheeks and nose, short mandible) in the three siblings and two other affected relatives suggest that trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 20 may cause a distinguishable clinical syndrome. Vertebral abnormalities and abnormal dermatoglyphics are part of the picture. Clinical and cytogenetic findings of all reported cases are compared.  相似文献

Summary Five cases from two nonrelated families with partial trisomy 10q due to a reciprocal translocation t(10;17)(q25;p13) and t(10;11)(q24;q23), respectively, are reported. The phenotypic findings are compared with those of 17 previously published cases; the clinical data justify the conclusion that cases with trisomy 10q show a specific syndrome of mental retardation and malformation characterized by psychomotor retardation, growth retardation, hypotonia, high forehead, flat face, fine and arched eyebrows, antimongoloid slant of the eyes, narrow palpebral fissures, hypertelorism, short nose, bowshaped mouth, short neck, (kypho)scoliosis, and in some cases microcephaly.  相似文献

A 1-year-old boy with trisomy 18 (pter----q12) following a paternal balanced translocation revealed microcephaly, a pattern of minor dysmorphic features including upslanting narrow palpebral fissures, receding forehead, large nose and receding mandible, cryptorchidism, flexion contractures of fingers, a cardiac malformation and moderate mental retardation. While pure trisomy 18p generally goes along with a near-normal phenotype, additional trisomy of only a short segment of the proximal long arm 18 has a distinct negative influence on the phenotype, as seen in our proband.  相似文献

Double partial trisomy resulting from 3:1 segregation of the respective chromosomal segments of the chromosomes involved in a balanced translocation in meiosis is rarely reported in the literature. We present here a first patient with multiple congenital malformations associated with double partial trisomy of 10pter-p15 and 14pter-q13 resulting from 3:1 segregation of maternal balanced translocation t(10;14)(p15;q13). Proximal partial trisomy of chromosome 14 and subterminal trisomy of the short arm of the chromosome 10 are rare. The present case is the first case with double partial trisomy of these segments resulting from 3:1 segregation of a maternal balanced translocation.  相似文献

A family with six alive patients with partial monosomy 5p and five with partial trisomy 5p due to a t(5;15)(p13.3;p12) translocation is reported. The translocation was present in four generations with eight balanced carriers. This is the first molecular-cytogenetic and clinical study with both syndromes present in the same family. Using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) probes, the breakpoint was mapped to 5p13.3, in the interval corresponding to the BAC clone RP11-1079N14, thereof resulting a 5pter-5p13.3 deletion or duplication of ~32 Mb. These chromosome imbalances can be considered pure, since the other imbalance produced involving chromosome 15p has no phenotypic effect. The presence of several individuals with 5p monosomy and 5p trisomy in the same family is valuable for a better delineation of both syndromes.  相似文献

A child with the Down syndrome revealed besides a regular trisomy 21, an enlargment of the short arm of chromosome 10, and the deletion of the long arm of chromosome 12. The proband's mother, who was phenothypically normal woman, appeared to be a carrier of the reciprocal translocation, her karyotype being: 46, XX, rep (10;12) (10qter leads to leads to 10p14; 12q21 leads to 12qter; 12pter leads to 12q21 : 10p14 leads to 10pter). Hence, the proband had double chromosomal aberration 47, XX, +21, rcp (10; 12) (10qter leads to 10p14 : 12q21 leads to leads to 12qter; 12pter leads to 12q21 : 10p14 leads to 10pter) mat. There is no reason to relate hard manifistation of the Down syndrome with the detected translocation. The influence of the mathernal non-devision in the meiosis and the rise of the trisomy 21 is discussed. In the following pregnancies it is advisable to amniocentesis.  相似文献

Partial Trisomy 14q is a rare chromosomal disorder that mostly results from a parental translocation. We report here a newborn boy with partial trisomy 14q and dysmorphic features that are compatible with previously reported cases. Conventional cytogenetic analysis revealed an extra chromosomal segment at the end of the short arm of chromosome 4. In order to determine the origin of this chromosome region we used subtelomeric FISH technique. Based on the results of these cytogenetic studies and the physical examination, this dysmorphic case was diagnosed as partial trisomy of 14q and his karyotype determined as 46 XY, der(4)t(4;14)(p16;q32) resulting from a balanced maternal translocation identified as 46,XX, t(4;14)(p16;q32).  相似文献

Summary Two sibs show a strikingly concordant syndrome of congenital anomalies and G-banding reveals that each has partial trisomy 20p resulting from a t(18;20) translocation. They resemble other cases of partial trisomy 20p in some respects but also differ in some ways. Their normal sib, mother, and half-aunt are balanced heterozygotes for the t(18;20) translocation. The segregation of the balanced translocation in this family is associated with an extremely poor reproductive record. The segregation pattern closely parallels that of a t(13;20) translocation in a family described by Carrel et al. (1971) and Francke (1972). The similarity of segregation patterns is predictable on the basis of probable pachytene configurations, but the dissimilarity of phenotypes between families is not readily explained.  相似文献

The detection of a familial translocation, t(10;18)(p12;q22), has made possible the observation in type and countertype of two related persons with opposite chromosomal imbalance: trisomy 18q22----18qter with monosomy 10p12----10pter in one of the two and monosomy 18q22----10pter in the other. In each case the abnormalities attributable to monosomy overrule those attributable to monosomy overrule those attributable to the associated trisomy.

Partial trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 4 due to translocation t(4p-22p+)
Summary Partial trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 4 was found in a 3-year-old microcephalic, mentally retarded girl. This aberration resulted from a reciprocal translocation t(4p-22p+) present in the mother, the grandfather and both siblings.
