Four granular nentaticides were evaluated for control of the yam nematode, Scutellonema bradys (Steiner &LeHew) Andrassy, on Guinea yam, Dioscorea rotundata Poir, under field conditions prevelant in the tropics. A single application of nematicides (sidedressing) at the rate of 2 kg ai/ha as postplanting treatment at the onset of the rainy season depressed numbers of S. bradys attacking yams during the growing season and significantly increased tuber yields over untreated. The efficacy, based on the regression coefficient values of evaluated nematicides, was in the order of miral, carbofuran, aldicarb, and oxamyl (b = -75.9, -75.5, -72.1, and -65.9, respectively). Yam tuber yields increased by 136.9, 90.6, 87.9, and 85.3% over untreated (P = 0.05) in aldicarb, carbofuran, oxamyl, and miral treated plots, respectively. Residues in raw tubers pretreated with aldicarb, carbofuran, or miral were negligible (front less than 0.02 to 0.3 ppm) and far below the established tolerance levels (l.0 and 1.3 ppm for aldicarb and carbofuran, respectively) of a related crop in the United States. This is the first report on residues of systemic pesticides in yams.  相似文献

In greenhouse tests using potted grape plants three nematicides, aldicarb 10 G at 4.5 ai/ha, phenamiphos 15 G at 22 kg ai/ha, and oxamyl liquid at 4.5 kg ai/ha, were tested against Xiphinema index on ''Thompson Seedless'' grape. Different timings for chemical treatments and X. index inoculations were used to determine some of the aspects of the mode of action. When nematodes and nematicides were applied simultaneously, nematodes were reduced from the initial 500 to the averages 5, 1, and 4, respectively, for aldicarb, phenamiphos, and oxamyl. Similar counts (respectively, 3, 1, and 2) were obtained when the nematicides were added first and the nematodes 14 d later. Nematode counts were 83, 112, and 1,346 when nematicides were applied first, and 14 days later plants were washed free of soil, repotted in untreated soil, and then inoculated. In untreated controls the population increased to an average of 2,703. Plant growth was inversely related to the level of nematode population resulting from the treatment.  相似文献

The efficacy of abamectin as a seed treatment for control of Meloidogyne incognita on cotton was evaluated in greenhouse, microplot, and field trials in 2002 and 2003. Treatments ranging from 0 to 100 g abamectin/100 kg seed were evaluated. In greenhouse tests 35 d after planting (DAP), plants from seed treated with abamectin were taller than plants from nontreated seed, and root galling severity and nematode reproduction were lower where treated seed were used. The number of second stage juveniles that had entered the roots of plants from seed treated with 100 g abamectin/kg seed was lower during the first 14 DAP than with nontreated seed. In microplots tests, seed treatment with abamectin and soil application of aldicarb at 840 g/kg of soil reduced the number of juveniles penetrating seedling roots during the first 14 DAP compared to the nontreated seedlings. In field plots, population densities of M. incognita were lower 14 DAP in plots that received seed treated with abamectin at 100 g/kg seed than where aldicarb (5.6 kg/ha) was applied at planting. Population densities were comparable for all treatments, including the nontreated controls, at both 21 DAP and harvest. Root galling severity did not differ among treatments at harvest.  相似文献

Greenhouse tests were conducted to determine the effects of two kinds of Meloidogyne hapla inoculum on the growth and quality of carrot roots, and the protection afforded in each case by nonfumigant nematicides in organic soils. For all treatments the percentage of carrots damaged was greater with larvae alone as inoculum than with larvae and eggs, indicating that most of the damage occurs early during formation of the taproot. Fosthietan, aldicarb, and oxamyl at 4 and 6 kg ai/ha protected the roots during formation and gave a lasting control of root-knot nematode. There was some nematode damage to the roots with phenamiphos and carbofuran at 4 and 6 kg ai/ha. Isazophos, diflubenzuron, and fenvalerate gave little protection to carrot roots and did not control root-knot nematode effectively.  相似文献

Applied to potato ridge soil in spring, before potatoes were planted, small amounts of aldicarb (10-3 kg/ha or less) controlled potato cyst-nematodes (Heterodera rostochiensis Woll.) better than large amounts of dazomet (110–466 kg/ha) or D-D (102–439 kg/ha). Applied in spring 1968 and 1969 to heavily infested sandy clay soil 466 kg dazomet/ha allowed Majestic potatoes to grow and yield well in both years without increasing the number of nematodes in the soil after harvest, but in peaty loam dazomet was toxic to potato plants and, when applied in autumn, killed fewer nematodes. D-D in potato ridges in spring controlled nematodes less well than dazomet or aldicarb, but 896 kg D-D/ha injected in sandy clay soil in autumn increased potato yield the following year without increasing the number of nematodes after harvest.  相似文献

Florunner peanut was grown after 1 and 2 years of Tifton 9 bahiagrass, corn, cotton, and continuous peanut as whole-plots. Pesticide treatments aldicarb (3.4 kg a.i./ha), flutolanil (1.7 kg a.i./ha), aldicarb + flutolanil, and untreated (control) were sub-plots. Numbers of Meloidogyne arenaria second-stage juveniles in the soil and root-gall indices of peanut at harvest were consistently lower in plots treated with aldicarb and aldicarb + flutolanil than in flutolanil-treated and untreated plots. Percentages of peanut leaflets damaged by thrips and leafhoppers were consistently greater in flutolaniltreated and untreated plots than in plots treated with aldicarb or aldicarb + flutolanil but not affected by cropping sequences. Incidence of southern stem rot was moderate to high for all chemical treatments except those that included flutolanil. Stem rot loci were low in peanut following 2 years of bahiagrass, intermediate following 2 years of corn or cotton, and highest in continuous peanut. Rhizoctonia limb rot was more severe in the peanut monoculture than in peanut following 2 years of bahiagrass, corn, or cotton. Flutolanil alone or combined with aldicarb suppressed limb rot compared with aldicarb-treated and untreated plots. Peanut pod yields were 4,186 kg/ha from aldicarb + flutolanil-treated plots, 3,627 kg/ha from aldicarb-treated plots, 3,426 kg/ha from flutolanil-treated plots, and 3,056 kg/ha from untreated plots. Yields of peanut following 2 years of bahiagrass, corn, and cotton were 29% to 33% higher than yield of monocultured peanut.  相似文献

Application of the bioregulator, 2-(3,4-dichlorophenoxy)triethylamine (DCPTA) to tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. Pixie) significantly increased the vegetative growth and fruit-yield productivities of mature plants. Compared with controls, application of 30 M (10 ppm) DCPTA as a pre-germination seed treatment increased the mean relative growth rates of leaves, stems, and roots, 37%, 16%, and 20%, respectively, during exponential growth. At fruit harvest, the dry weights of leaves, stems, and roots, and the harvestable yield of 30 M DCPTA-treated plants were doubled when compared with controls. Increases in both the total fruit number per plant and the size of individual fruits contributed to the improved yield of 30 M DCPTA-treated plants. The total soluble solids contents of mature fruits harvested from 30 M DCPTA-treated plants were increased 24%, and the lycopene and beta-carotene contents were doubled as compared with controls. These results indicate that DCPTA treatment does not adversely affect the balanced partitioning of photoassimilate to vegetative and reproductive sinks in tomato.  相似文献

Soil application of DBCP (l,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane) and foliar applications of oxamyl (methyl N'',N''-dimethyl-N-[(methylcarbamoyl)oxy]-l-thiooxamimidate) were compared for control of Tylenchulus semipenetrans in a grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) orchard, DBCP reduced nematode populations and increased fruit growth rate, fruit size at harvest, and yield compared to the untreated controls in the 2 years following treatments. Foliar applications of oxamyl reduced nematode populations and increased fruit growth rate slightly the first year, but not in the second. Foliar applications of oxamyl did not improve control attained by DBCP alone. Soil application of aldicarb [2-methyl-2-(methylthio)propionaldehyde-O-(methylcarbamoyl)oxime] or DBCP to an orange (C. sinensis) orchard reduced T. semipenetrans populations in the 3 years tested and increased yield in 1 of 3 years. Aldicarb treatment reduced fruit damage caused by the citrus rust mite, Phyllocoptruta oleivora. Aldicarb, applied at 5.7 or 11.4 kg/ha, by disk incorporation or chisel injection, was equally effective in controlling nematodes, improving yields, fruit size, and external quality. In a grapefruit orchard, chisel-applied aldicarb reduced nematode populations and rust mite damage and increased yields in both years and increased fruit size in one year. The 11.4-kg/ha rate was slightly more effective than the 5.7-kg/ha rate. Aldicarb appears to be an adequate substitute for DBCP for nematode control in Texas citrus orchards and well-suited to an overall pest management system for Texas citrus.  相似文献

Summary Plant dry weight, total N, and total Ca was increased at 0.1 and 1 ppm N-serve. At greater 10 ppm the plants showed visual symptoms of a stunted growth, stem elongation, flowers, and pods failed to form or were aborted, young leaves were curled, and roots were club shaped with many branches. These symptoms were increasingly evident with increasing N-serve application rates. The reason was attributed to an auxin effect. Dry wt and total N in the plant was less than the control at the higher N-serve applications. There was little effect on nitrogenase activity at less than 10 ppm N-serve. Nodulation tended to increase at 0.1 and 1 ppm N-serve.Nitrification was inhibited up to 104 days at 20 ppm N-serve. The soil pH of the high N-serve rates was decreased at 104 days probably due to nitrification. Generally there were little detectable differences among treatments in soil organic N. The average soil organic N from 0 to 104 days decreased by 0.01%. Average increase in total N within each pot at harvest was equivalent to about 138 kg N/ha.  相似文献

Greenhouse and field tests established that fenamiphos at 6.7 and 13.4 kg ai/ha applied in a 30-cm band directly on iris bulbs at planting effectively controlled Ditylenchus destructor. Aldicarb at rates of 5.6 to 11.2 kg ai/ha was less effective. Carbofuran, fensulfothion, and oxamyl at 6.7 to 13.4 kg ai/ha were ineffective. When applied on the bulbs, fenamiphos (granular or liquid) reduced nematode infection from 31 to 0.6% as determined by visual inspection of bulbs at harvest. Populations of D. destructor were reduced from 5.7 nematodes/g of fresh weight of bulb tissue to 0.04, 0.05, and 0.14 with applications of 13.4, 6.7, and 3.3 kg ai/ha fenamiphos, respectively. The most effective treatment was fenamiphos (granular or liquid) applied in a 30-cm band directly on the bulbs at time of planting.  相似文献

Altlicarb residues in foliage of Beta vulgaris L. 21 days after transplanting to soil treated with 1-5 μg aldicarb/g soil were proportional to residues in storage roots, but 20 times as great. Initial concentrations of residues in roots 21 days after treatment were proportional to applied rates but declined by 56% when roots were stored 25 days at 24 C. Mean respective concentrations of aldicarb, aldicarb sulfoxide, and aldicarb sulfone were 8.7, 81.6, and 9.8% of the total residues. In separate tests, equivalent concentrations of toxic carbamates in roots resulted in similar levels of control of Heterodera schachtii. Systemic levels that completely suppressed development of females and males on sectioned roots were respectively 0.35 and 0.8 μg/g of root tissue.  相似文献

Summary The effects of K and Mg application on dry matter yield and uptake of K, Mg and Ca in cowpea were studied in greenhouse at Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar (india). Dry matter yields of leaves, stems and roots increased by 17, 30 and 27 per cent over control due to application of 150 ppm K and 17, 16 and 26 per cent by 40 ppm Mg respectively. Potassium application has antagonistic effect on Ca concentration of leaves, stems and roots and synergistic on root Mg concentrations upto 25 ppm K. However, Mg had a synergistic effect on concentration of K upto 20 ppm Mg and antagonistic at 40 ppm Mg in all plant parts. Uptake of K, Mg and Ca increased by Mg application, but K increased only K uptake.  相似文献

Five field trials were conducted in Italy in 1983 and 1984 to test the efficacy of isazofos and benfuracarb in controlling Heterodera carotae on carrot, Ditylenchus dipsaci on onion, and Meloidogyne javanica on tomato. Methyl isothiocyanate (MIT) was tested against H. carotae and M. javanica. Single (10 kg a.i./ha) and split (5 + 5 kg a.i./ha) applications of isazofos gave yield increases of carrot and onion similar to those obtained with DD (300 liters/ha) and aldicarb (10 kg a.i./ha). Population densities of H. carotae in carrot roots at harvest and of M. javanica in tomato roots 2 months after transplanting were also suppressed by isazofos. Benfuracarb (10 kg a.i./ha increased onion yields in a field infested with D. dipsaci, but it was not effective against H. carotae or M. javanica. The efficacy of MIT at 400 and 600 liters/ha was similar to that of MIT + DD (Di-Trapex) at 300 liters/ha. Both nematicides inhibited hatch of H. carotae eggs and decreased the soil population density of M. javanica.  相似文献

Bean plants ( Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Processer) were grown in water culture with separate air supply to roots for four to five weeks at five levels of SO2 ranging from 10 μg m−3 to 950 μg m−3. At harvest the plant material was divided into six fractions: root, stem, fruit and leaves of three age groups.
Plants were mainly affected at and above approx. 250 μg m−3 SO2. Fresh weight was reduced in mature and old leaves, and roots and fruit. Dry weight was also reduced in mature and old leaves, and roots and stem. A reduction was found in chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b in mature and old leaves, and also starch was reduced in the leaves. Sulfur content of leaves and fruit increased with exposure time and concentration, while Br, Ca, Cl, K, Mn, P and Zn increased at the highest SO2 level only. Total (but not specific) peroxidase activity increased in all aerial fractions, i.e. soluble protein increased just like peroxidase activity. Seventeen studied amino acids all increased on the average by 38% in mature bean pods.
The observed effects may be parts of a reaction for survival and propagation of the plant, as fruit quality was not affected, indeed, it sometimes improved slightly. The latter observation is of commercial interest.  相似文献

Summary A field experiment was conducted on soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) with a view to find out the effect of seed inoculation and scheduling of irrigation on nodulation, accumulation and re-distribution of nitrogen in plant tops and soil. The eight treatment combinations consists of two seed inoculations, viz. uninoculated and inoculated with rhizobium culture, and four irrigation schedules, viz. irrigation water to the cumulative pan evaporation (IW/CPE) ratio of 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 and a control (rainfed). Seed inoculation by, rhizobium culture increased the number, dry-weight and N content of nodules per plant. Inoculation of seeds also increased the N accumulation rate in plant top and it was 2.48 kg/ha/day during the flower-initiation to the pod-initiation stage (30–60 days interval). At harvest, 32.2, 47.8 and 26.2 kg N/ha was re-distributed from the stems, leaves and pods-wall of inoculated plants to the grains, respectively. A total of 186.5 kg N/ha was harvested and 64.7 kg N/ha, was accumulated in soil under the inoculated condition.Scheduling of irrigation at 0.7 IW/CPE proved better, than other irrigation schedules and helped in increasing the nodulation, nitrogen accumulation and grain yield. As compared to control, 8.4, 17.8 and 18.4 kg more of N/ha was redistributed from the stems, leaves and pods-wall respectively when the irrigations were scheduled at 0.7 IW/CPE ratio. Under this irrigation schedule the total N harvest was 200.1 kg/ha while the total N increased by 55.9 kg over that present in soil at the time of sowing.  相似文献

Our study focuses on the study of the phosphorus efficiency on the mineral nutrition of a leguminous plant; to study this efficiency, we tested the effect of increasing doses of phosphorus on the mineral nutrition of faba bean and on the concentration of Nt (total nitrogen), Pi (available phosphorus), KE (exchangeable potassium), C (organic carbon), and the organic matter (OM) rate in the rhizospheric soil after harvest, as well as the concentration of N, P, K, Na, and Ca in the roots, stems, leaves, and seeds of faba bean. The faba bean crop was subjected to four phosphorus doses (P0?=?0 kg/ha; P1?=?70 kg/ha; P2?=?140 kg/ha; P3?=?210 kg/ha). The main results obtained showed that the concentration of the mineral elements in the different faba bean parts reacted differently to the phosphorus treatments. Regarding the dosage of nutrients in the different parts of the faba bean, the results obtained highlight that Pi deficiency in the soil does not only affect phosphate nutrition but can also affect the absorption of other mineral elements, a synergy is recorded between the K concentration in the roots and in the stems with the organic carbon in the soil, and an antagonism between K and Na in the different parts of the plant. All the results obtained in this work show that a phosphate fertilization for doses between 70 kg/ha and 140 kg/ha of P2O5 improves the microbial life of soil microorganisms.

Summary The benefit of fertilizer application during establishment of a tree plantation depends on effective nutrient uptake and the utilization of the nutrients in growth. Five urea treatments (0, 50, 75, 150, and 450 kg N/ha) were applied in a completely randomized plot design to a field planted with American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis L.) seedlings to evaluate growth responses and nitrogen use efficiency during the first season of plantation establishment. The site was in the Oak Ridge Reservation in eastern Tennessee on a highly weathered soil. Harvests were conducted on 3 occasions during a 22 week experimental period, and dry weights of stems, leaves, and large and small roots were measured. Chemical analyses were conducted on plant tissues from the 0, 75, and 450 kg N/ha treatments. Plant dry weight increased with urea application and growth analysis showed that this was mainly associated with increase in leaf area and to a minor extent with increase in net assimilation rate. Root weight increased significantly with urea application. The specific absorption rate of roots for several nutrients was greater at higher urea levels for the first 2 harvest periods, but this pattern reversed during the 3rd growth period. Surprisingly, manganese uptake and the specific absorption rate for manganese were enhanced with higher urea application. The acidifying effect of urea nitrification is a likely explanation for the increased Mn availability, and nitrate leaching and/or nitrogen immobilization contributed to low uptake of urea-N by the seedlings. The proportion of the applied nitrogen incorporated into the seedlings was 1.5 and 0.6% for the 75 and 450 kg N/ha urea treatments, respectively. Broadcast fertilizer application is not an effective way of supplying nutrients to seedlings during plantation establishment.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to examine the response of pear (Pyrus communis L.) trees to soil and foliar applications of boron (B). The experiment was carried out during 2000–2001 in a commercial orchard in Central Poland on mature `Conference' pear trees grafted on Pyrus communis var. caucasica seedlings planted at a spacing of 4 × 2.5 m on a sandy loam soil with a low hot water-extractable B status. Annually, foliar sprays with B were applied. (i) before full bloom (at green and white bud stage, and when 1–5% of flowers was at full bloom), (ii) after flowering (at petal fall, and 7 and 14 days after the end of flowering), or (iii) postharvest in fall (approximately 6 weeks before leaf fall). Spray treatments involved application of B at a rate of 0.2 kg ha–1 in spring or 0.8 kg ha–1 in fall. Additionally, other trees were supplied with soil-applied B at the bud break stage at a rate of 2 kg ha–1. Trees untreated with B served as the control. The results revealed that foliar applications of B before full bloom or after harvest increased fruit set and fruit yield. Tree vigor, mean fruit weight, firmness, soluble solids concentration and titratable acidity of fruits at harvest were not affected by B treatments. Foliar B sprays before full bloom or after harvest increased B concentrations in flowers, and both leaves and fruitlets at 40 days after flowering. Only the foliar treatments after flowering and soil fertilization with B increased the content of this microelement in fruit and leaves at 80 and 120 days after full bloom. Foliar B application before full bloom or after harvest increased calcium (Ca) in fruitlets at 40 days after full bloom, in fruit, and in leaves at 80 and 120 days after full bloom. Nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), and magnesium (Mg) in plant tissues were not affected by B fertilization. After storage, and also after the ripening period, fruits from the trees sprayed with B before full bloom or after harvest had higher firmness and titratable acidity than those from the control trees. After the ripening period, fruits from the trees sprayed with B before full bloom or after harvest had lower membrane permeability and were less sensitive to internal browning than the control fruits. These findings indicate that prebloom and postharvest B sprays are successful in increasing pear tree yielding and in improving fruit storability under the conditions of low B availability in the soil.  相似文献

The amount of extractable protein from leaves taken at the time of harvest of the edible part was determined for brassicas, beet root, turnip and radish. These leaves yielded much more dry matter and total nitrogen per ha than did the edible material. With only one pulping, from 35 to 59% of protein nitrogen could be extracted and the yields of extractable protein from the leaves ranged from 76 to 170 kg/ha. It would be advantageous to obtain protein from these leaves which otherwise are discarded.  相似文献

Seasonal Accumulation of Starch by Components of the Kiwifruit Vine   总被引:2,自引:2,他引:0
The accumulation of starch by various components of 6-year-oldkiwifruit vines (Actinidia deliciosa var dehciosa cv Hayward)was recorded over one season Twenty vines were harvested periodicallythroughout the year and separated into perennial components(fibrous roots, structural roots, stump, stem, cordon, laterals)and current season's growth (shoots, leaves, and fruit) The concentration of starch in the fibrous roots followed asinusoidal trend Minimum concentrations occurred 98 d afterbudbreak, while the maximum concentrations occurred 182 d laterCorresponding times in the structural roots were approximately42 d earlier In the above-ground perennial components, elevatedconcentrations of starch in the cordon, fruiting wood and barkof the stem were evident at budbreak and fruit harvest (approx220 d later) In the case of the stem, concentrations were greatestat fruit harvest Because the biomass of the perennial componentswas found to be relatively constant throughout the year, starchconcentrations and contents were directly proportional in thesetissues For current season's growth, peak concentrations and contentsin leaves and shoots were observed at fruitset and fruit harvest, respectively For fruit, starch increased continuously untilharvest Approximately 30% of the total starch content accumulated inthe perennial components by leaf abscission was lost duringwinter and early summer Quantitative losses were greatest forthe roots Regeneration of the starch pools in the perennialcomponents of the vine occurred from midseason until leaf abscissionAt the same time, approximately five times more starch was accumulatedby the current season's growth, in particular the fruit, thanby the perennial components As a result of the difference inthe rate of accumulation, the starch content of the currentseason's growth increased from less than 10% midseason to nearly60% of the total starch content of the vine by fruit harvest The results were discussed in relation to the carbon economyof the kiwifruit vine, and compared with seasonal trends instarch concentrations found for other deciduous crops Actinidia deliciosa, kiwifruit, seasonal changes, starch content, whole plant  相似文献
