SYNOPSIS Eimeria albertensis n.sp. and E. borealis n.sp. are described from black bears Ursus americanus from Alberta, Canada. Oocysts of E. albertensis are ellipsoidal, 41.5 (36.5-43.8) by 21.7 (19.0-22.5) μ, double walled and have a distinct micropyle; sporocysts elongate-ovoid, 14.7 (10.9-18.7) by 7.7 (7.2-10.9) μ. Oocysts of E. borealis are ellipsoidal to slightly concave, 30.2 (28.8-32.8) by 14.8 (14.6-15.8) μ, and double walled; micropyle indistinct; sporocysts ovoid, 10.1 (7.3-11.5) by 6.1 (3.6-7.3) μ.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS The oocysts of 2 new species of Eimeria are described from heteromyid rodents. The subspherical to ellipsoidal cocysts of Eimeria reedi from Perognathus formosus averaged 22.6 by 20.8 μ. An ellipsoidal polar granule was present. The oocyst residuum was a single globule about 8 μ in diameter. The ovoid sporocysts averaged 10.9 by 7.7 μ and had a residuum of 6-12 granules. A Stieda body and substiedal body were present in the sporocysts. Eimeria chobotari oocysts, from Dipodomys merriami and D. microps , were ellipsoidal to ovoid and averaged 47.7 by 35.2 μ. No polar granule was seen. The large oocyst residuum consisted of several granules of various sizes. The ovoid sporocysts averaged 15.8 by 11.3 μ and had a residuum of many small granules. A Stieda body and substiedal body were present in the sporocysts.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Oocysts of Eimeria oreamni, E. montanaensis n. sp. and E. ernsti n. sp. were present in a fecal sample collected from a male Rocky Mountain goat Oreamnos americanus in Ravalli County, Montana. Oocysts of E. oreamni were nearly identical to those originally described from this host. Oocysts of E. montanaensis were 15-23 by 13-19 μ (mean 18.9 by 15.2 μ), with sporocysts 8-12 by 4–7 μ(mean 9.9 by 5.2 μ). Oocysts of E. ernsti were 28-37 by 19-26 μ (mean 32.9 by 23.0 μ), with sporocysts 14-20 by 6-9 μ (mean 16.7 by 7.3 μ). A distinct micropyle and micropylar cap were present in E. ernsti.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Eimerians from 27 gray squirrels Sciurus carolinensis sampled in Waterloo County were studied. Two double-walled species, E. ontarioensis n. sp. which was piriform (36.8 × 23.5) and E. confusa Joseph which was subspherical (35.7 × 28.4), were described and compared with similar species from the genus Sciurus. Eimeria sp., ellipsoidal (24.9 × 14.4), from Ontario gray squirrels resembled E. ascotensis and E. neosciuri and was a new eimerian record from Ontario. The zoogeographic significance of E. ontarioensis n. sp. and E. sp. in North American gray squirrels is discussed.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Eimeria kinsellai sp. n. is described from the marsh rice rat Oryzomys palustris from Florida. Its ellipsoidal oocysts were 23–31 by 15–19 μ (mean 26.7 by 16.9 μ). One to four polar granules were present but an oocyst residuum was absent. The sporocysts were 12–15 by 7–9 μ (mean 13.9 by 8.1 μ), and sporocyst residua were present.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Eimeria vermiformis sp. n. and E. papillata sp. n. are described from the mouse Mus musculus. The sporulated oocysts of E. vermiformis are 18–26 by 15–21 μ (mean 23.1 by 18.4 μ); its sporocysts are 11–14 by 6–10 μ (mean 12.8 by 7.9 p). The sporulated oocysts of E. papillata are 18–26 by 16–24 μ (mean 22.4 by 19.2 μ); its sporocysts are 10–13 by 6–9 μ (mean 11.2 by 8.0 μ). A substiedal body is present in E. papillata sporocysts. Patent infections were produced in white laboratory mice with both species. Fourteen species of Eimeria have now been described from the genus Mus.  相似文献

Eimeria dalli sp. n. is described from fecal samples collected from Dall sheep, Ovis dalli, from the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. The oocysts are spherical or subspherical with mean dimensions of 43.7 × 37.4 μm. The outer oocyst wall is rough and irregular. No micropyle, micropylar cap or residuum was observed. Sporocysts were elongate ovoid with mean dimensions of 19.0 × 10.7 μm. Stieda bodies were not discernible.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Eimeria callosciuri n. sp. is described from Prevost's squirrel Callosciurus prevostii in Malaysia. Its oocysts are 24–31 by 20–2μ with a mean of 21.9 by 28.4μ. Schizogonic and gametogonic stages develop in the tips of the villi of the small intestine, above the nuclei of the host epithelial cells. It is the first species of Eimeria described from the rodent tribe Callosciurini.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Eimeria aurati n. sp. is described from the intestine of the goldfish, Carassius auratus , from Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Oocysts were very numerous in long, whitish, opaque fecal casts. They were 16 to 24 by 14 to 17 μ (mean, 20.1 by 16.3) and were non-sporulated when passed but sporulated 2 to 5 days later.  相似文献
