Chlorpyrifos, formetanate, methamidophos, imidacloprid and endosulfan were tested in the laboratory for their effects upon the mirid bugs Dicyphus tamaninii and Macrolophus caliginosus, which are polyphagous predators used for IPM programs in some vegetable crops. The mortality of third-fourth instar nymphs was checked 24 and 48 hours and 7 days after exposure to 1-, 3-, 8-, 21- and 30-day residues of the treatments on tomato leaflets. The reproductive capacity of surviving females also was evaluated for 15 days and compared with females that had not been exposed to insecticides. Chlorpyrifos, formetanate and methamidophos are considered persistent because they remained toxic to both mirid species for 30 days. Imidacloprid is moderately persistent, becoming harmless by 21 days after treatment for M. caliginosus and by 30 days after treatment for D. tamaninii. Endosulfan is moderately persistent for M. caliginosus, becoming harmless by 21 days after treatment, and is short lived for D. tamaninii, becoming harmless by 3 days after treatment. There were no effects on the reproductive capacity of females that were exposed as nymphs to the insecticides tested. Of all the insecticides, only endosulfan is marginally compatible with the use of D. tamaninii.  相似文献

The zoophytophagous predator Macrolophus caliginosus (Wagner) (Heteroptera: Miridae) has previously been identified as a potential prey for the intraguild zoophytophagous predator Dicyphus tamaninii Wagner. Its value as an intraguild prey was tested for D. tamaninii nymphal development and adult survival. In the laboratory, plant (red tomato fruit, green tomato fruit, tomato leaf) and animal (aphids, whiteflies, pyralid eggs) resources were compared to frozen nymphs of M. caliginosus as an intraguild resource for D. tamaninii. M. caliginosus nymphs allowed complete and rapid development of D. tamaninii nymphs and generated low mortality of nymphal and adult stages. Performances were higher with the intraguild M. caliginosus resource than with plant resources. Tomato leaves did not allow the complete nymphal development of D. tamaninii. Tomato fruit generated lighter adults and doubled the nymphal developmental time compared with the M. caliginosus resource. In the animal resource group, there were no differences between the M. caliginosus and the other treatments (aphids, whiteflies, pyralid eggs) for nymphal mortality, average number of molts, nymphal developmental time, adult weight, and adult survival. M. caliginosus should be considered a high-quality resource for D. tamaninii.  相似文献

Dicyphus tamaninii Wagner is a polyphagous predator that also feeds on plants. Its effectiveness against several pests has been tested and good results have been obtained on tomato, but not on cucumber. This paper reports the results of three exclusion cage experiments. The first was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of D. tamaninii for reducing greenhouse whitefly and western flower thrips populations on cucumber. The second experiment examined the safety of the mirid bug in terms of the potential for damaging cucumber fruits even at very low prey densities. Two predator (3 and 18 insects/plant) and variable prey release rates were used. The predator was able to reduce whitefly populations greatly, even at high initial pest infestation levels, especially at the higher release rate. Western flower thrips populations were maintained at very low densities a few weeks after the predator had been introduced into cages at the two release rates tested. The mirid bug was barely able to reproduce on cucumber in the absence of prey. Mirid feeding punctures on cucumber fruit or yield decrease due to the action of mirids were not observed. The potential of this mirid bug for inoculative and conservation biological control is discussed.  相似文献

A study of predation choices of Macrolophus caliginosus Wagner (Heteroptera: Miridae) late instars and adults, when offered various developmental stages (eggs and nymphs) of the recently established whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae), was made based on two preference indices. In addition, prey choices of late instars when presented with three ratios of Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) and B. tabaci at a similar developmental stage (eggs, young or late instars) were assessed. M. caliginosus preferred older nymphs of B. tabaci than any other stage. It also chose T. vaporariorum over B. tabaci, unless the latter consisted of > 75% of the available prey. These results suggested that M. caliginosus might interfere with parasitoids such as Encarsia, Eretmocerus, or Amitus spp. because all three species emerge from the host pupal case. Furthermore, in mixed infestations, M. caliginosus preference for T. vaporariorum might either negatively affect the control of B. tabaci, or, contrarily, enhance the predator population, before a B. tabaci outbreak occurs in the greenhouse.  相似文献

Abstract This study investigated the effect of temperature on the development and winter survival of the predatory mirid Macrolophus caliginosus Wagner, recently introduced into the U.K. as a biocontrol agent for glasshouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum . The developmental threshold for M. caliginosus calculated by three methods was between 7.3 and 8.4 °C, with a day-degree requirement per generation varying between 472 and 524 day-degrees. It was estimated that under outdoor conditions M. caliginosus could complete two generations per year in the U.K. All life stages of M. caliginosus had supercooling points around −20 °C, with some pre-freeze mortality evident in both acute and chronic low temperature exposures. Acclimation increased survival of nymphal M. caliginosus from approximately 24–52 days when exposed to a constant 0 °C. Provision of prey extended survival of nymphs in the laboratory at a constant 5 °C from 39 to 64 days and in the field by c . 150 days. The results are discussed in the context of the occurrence and establishment of M. caliginosus in the U.K. and the need to develop a reliable risk assessment system for non-native species used in glasshouse biocontrol.  相似文献

Predation rate and nymphal development time were determined for four predatory bugs (Dicyphus tamaninii Wagner andMacrolophus caliginosus Wagner [Het.:Miridae],Orius laevigatus (Fieber) andO. majusculus (Reuter) [Het.:Anthocoridae], on cucumber withAphis gossypii Glover (Hom.:APhididae) as prey and for both mirids also on tomato withMacrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas) as prey. All four predator species were able to achieve adulthood feeding on both aphids. The developmental period ofD. tamaninii nymphs was the longest and the shortest was forO. majusculus. During nymphal developmentD. tamaninii consumed greater numbers of both aphids thanM. caliginosus, whileOrius’ consumption ofA. gossypii was intermediate. Average daily predation was higher forD. tamaninii than forM. caliginosus, but was not different from bothOrius species. FemaleD. tamaninii exhibited a typical type-II functional response when preying on varying densities ofA. gossypii nymphs.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The predatory mirids of the genus Macrolophus are key natural enemies of various economically important agricultural pests. Both M. caliginosus and M. pygmaeus are commercially available for the augmentative biological control of arthropod pests in European greenhouses. The latter species is known to be infected with Wolbachia -inducing cytoplasmic incompatibility in its host- but the presence of other endosymbionts has not been demonstrated. In the present study, the microbial diversity was examined in various populations of M. caliginosus and M. pygmaeus by 16S rRNA sequencing and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis. RESULTS: Besides Wolbachia, a co-infection of 2 Rickettsia species was detected in all M. pygmaeus populations. Based on a concatenated alignment of the 16S rRNA gene, the gltA gene and the coxA gene, the first is phylogenetically related to Rickettsia bellii, whereas the other is closely related to Rickettsia limoniae. All M. caliginosus populations were infected with the same Wolbachia and limoniae-like Rickettsia strain as M. pygmaeus, but did not harbour the bellii-like Rickettsia strain. Interestingly, individuals with a single infection were not found. A PCR assay on the ovaries of M. pygmaeus and M. caliginosus indicated that all endosymbionts are vertically transmitted. The presence of Wolbachia and Rickettsia in oocytes was confirmed by a fluorescence in situ hybridisation. A bio-assay comparing an infected and an uninfected M. pygmaeus population suggested that the endosymbionts had minor effects on nymphal development of their insect host and did not influence its fecundity. CONCLUSION: Two species of the palaearctic mirid genus Macrolophus are infected with multiple endosymbionts, including Wolbachia and Rickettsia. Independent of the origin, all tested populations of both M. pygmaeus and M. caliginosus were infected with three and two endosymbionts, respectively. There was no indication that infection with endosymbiotic bacteria had a fitness cost in terms of development and fecundity of the predators.  相似文献

Zoophytophagous predators of the family Miridae (Heteroptera), which feed both on plant and prey, often maintain a close relationship with certain host plants. In this study, we aimed to select a suitable mirid predatory bug for aphid control in sweet pepper. Four species were compared: Macrolophus pygmaeus (Rambur), Dicyphus errans (Wolff), Dicyphus tamaninii Wagner and Deraeocoris pallens (Reuter). They were assessed on their establishment on sweet pepper plants with and without supplemental food (eggs of the flour moth Ephestia kuehniella Zeller and decapsulated cysts of the brine shrimp Artemia franciscana Kellogg) and on their effects on aphids with releases before and after aphid infestations. None of the predator species was able to control an established population of aphids on sweet pepper plants; however, the predators M. pygmaeus and D. tamaninii could successfully reduce aphid populations when released prior to an artificially introduced aphid infestation. The best results were achieved with M. pygmaeus in combination with a weekly application of supplemental food. Hence, our results demonstrate that the order and level of plant colonization by mirid predators and aphids determines how successful biological control is. Further studies are needed to evaluate the performance of mirid predatory bugs in sweet pepper crops in commercial greenhouses with multiple pests and natural enemies, in particular to understand how increased variation in food sources affects their feeding behaviour and preferences.  相似文献

Abstract  A comparative study between direct prey preference and odour-mediated preference of the predatory mirid bug, Macrolophus caliginosus , was conducted. We used a Y-tube olfactometer to determine the attraction of the predator to herbivore-induced volatiles from Myzus persicae or Tetranychus urticae -infested sweet pepper plants over clean plants and to direct prey odours over clean air. The mirid bugs showed a stronger response to odours from infested plants than to odours from clean plants. The mirids did, however, not seem to exploit odours emitted directly from the prey themselves. Our results further demonstrated that M. caliginosus prefers M. persicae to T. urticae in a direct two-choice consumption test. This preference was, however, not reflected in a similar odour-mediated preference between plant volatiles induced by either of the two preys. Two hypotheses are suggested for this neutral response of the mirids to herbivore-induced volatiles from a preference prey or a non-preference prey.  相似文献

We examined patch residence times for an omnivorous predator, Dicyphus hesperus on a variety of plants and prey. Individual D. hesperus were placed in cages containing either mullein, tomato, pepper or chrysanthemum plants, and either no prey, Mediterranean flour moth eggs, greenhouse whitefly pupae or two-spotted spider mite adults. Patch residence times were typically greater than 24 h. The probability of remaining on the patch was greatest on mullein and tomato, followed by chrysanthemum and least on pepper, whereas probability of remaining on the patch was greatest when flour moth eggs were present, and least when no prey were available. Patch residence time in D. hesperus was determined by both the prey, and the species of plant, in an independent fashion. Our results reinforce the notion that for omnivores, the patch itself is as important as the prey that it harbors.  相似文献

The separation of the closely related predatory species Macrolophus melanotoma Costa (= M. caliginosus Wagner) and Macrolophus pygmaeus (Rambur) based exclusively on the different colour pattern of the first antennal segment (white central band in M. melanotoma and entirely black in M. pygmaeus) is rather precarious and their taxonomic status is still in doubt. In the present study their taxonomic status was evaluated by DNA confirmatory analysis and hybridization experiments between M. pygmaeus and a Macrolophus taxon, resembling M. melanotoma, with a first antennal segment entirely black or with a white central band collected from Dittrichia viscosa (L.) W. Greuter (Asteraceae) in southern Greece. Adult females from Dittrichia plants hybridized with males of M. pygmaeus and vice versa did not produce viable eggs. The Macrolophus species from Dittrichia irrespective of the first antennal segment coloration differed from M. pygmaeusin digestive patterns generated by AseI, XbaI, and MseI on 16S rRNA and in RAPD profiles produced by the primers OPA-18 and OPA-20. These results demonstrate that on Dittrichia plants there is a distinct dimorphic taxon, M. melanotoma, as it is the only species of the genus Macrolophus bearing a first antennal segment with a central white band. Given the limitation of the coloration pattern, the mtDNA genetic markers are the appropriate method for the identification of M. melanotomaand M. pygmaeus.  相似文献

Dicyphine mirids are one of the most important groups of predators on tomato. In the Mediterranean region, several species in the genera Dicyphus, Macrolophus, and Nesidiocoris (Hemiptera: Miridae, Bryocorinae, Dicyphini) colonize protected horticultural crops. In Portugal, Nesidiocoris tenuis (Reuter) is increasingly abundant in the mirid species complex of tomato crops and appears to be displacing the native Dicyphus cerastii Wagner. In order to know whether intraguild predation (IGP) can explain the decreasing abundance of D. cerastii, we evaluated predatory interactions between adult females and first instars of D. cerastii vs. N. tenuis but also D. cerastii vs. Macrolophus pygmaeus (Rambur), as this species is also naturally present in horticultural crops in Portugal. Cannibalistic interactions were also tested for the same three species. All experiments were performed under laboratory conditions, in Petri dish arenas, in the presence or absence of Ephestia kuehniella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) eggs as alternative prey. Predation on both heterospecific and conspecific nymphs occurred only in the absence of alternative food. Intraguild predation was mutual and symmetrical between D. cerastii and M. pygmaeus. However, IGP was asymmetrical between D. cerastii and N. tenuis, favouring the first. Cannibalism was not significantly different among these mirid species. Our results show that D. cerastii has a greater capacity to feed on intraguild prey than N. tenuis. Therefore, IGP on small nymphs does not explain the abundance shift between D. cerastii and N. tenuis.  相似文献

Field and laboratory studies were conducted to determine the effect of transgenic Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) corn, Zea mays L. (YieldGard Rootworm), expressing the Cry3Bb1 protein on aboveground nontarget insect predators (minute pirate bug, ladybird beetles, and carabids). Visual counts of adult and immature Orius insidiosus (Say), Coleomegilla maculata (DeGeer), Hippodamia convergens Gurin-Meneville, and Scymnus spp. occurring in Bt corn and its non-Bt isoline were made at Manhattan, KS, in 2002 and at Manhattan and Scandia, KS, in 2003. No significant differences were found between the Bt corn and non-Bt isoline plots in the abundance (number per plant) of O. insidiosus, C. maculata, H. convergens, and Scymnus spp. Field predation on Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) egg masses was also observed during the silking stage of corn at Manhattan and Scandia in 2003. No significant differences were observed among treatments in predation rate for predators with chewing versus sucking mouthparts. Two laboratory studies determined the effect of Cry3Bb1 protein expressed in Bt corn pollen on C. maculata and carabids. The larvae of C. maculata were reared on Bt pollen, non-Bt pollen, or greenbugs, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani). The duration of larval and pupal stages, developmental time from egg hatch to adult emergence, percentage of survival, and elytra length were compared among treatments. There were no significant differences in developmental time of larvae fed pollen or greenbugs during their first two instars. However, significantly prolonged development of the third (1 d) and fourth instars (2 d) was observed for larvae fed greenbugs only. Total time for larval development was significantly longer for larvae that fed on greenbugs versus larvae fed on pollen. No significant differences were observed among treatments in the percentage of larvae that pupated or pupal stage duration. Larvae that fed on greenbugs had higher pupal and adult weights compared with pollen-fed larvae. However, pupal and adult weights did not vary between the Bt and non-Bt pollen treatments. No significant differences occurred in longevity and elytra length of beetles among all treatments. Two carabid species, Harpalus caliginosus F. and Harpalus pensylvanicus DeGeer, were reared on moistened dog food sprinkled with Bt or non-Bt corn pollen. No significant differences in mortality of H. caliginosus and H. pensylvanicus were detected among any of the treatments. There was no significant effect of Bt pollen on fecundity and egg viability of H. caliginosus. Our studies showed that YieldGard Rootworm had no effect on the selected coleopteran predators; therefore, this Bt corn hybrid could be used in an integrated pest management system.  相似文献

The side-effects of three neem formulations (Neem-Amin EC, Stardoor and B.P. 20/S) were tested on the mirid predator Macrolophus caliginosus Wagner in the laboratory. Direct toxicity tests on 1st instar nymphs exposed to fresh dry residues on glass plates at different doses demonstrated that all the products are harmful to the insects with LD50 values much lower than the maximum recommended rate (1.217, 0.264, 1.083 mg a.i./l instead of 15, 31.5 and 80 mg a.i./l for Neem-Amin EC, Stardoor and B.P. 20/S, respectively). Moreover a reduction of fecundity of the surviving females was assessed with Neem-Amin EC and B.P. 20/S. Persistence tests were carried out on sharp pepper plants treated at the maximum recommended rate. High mortality was recorded when the insects were introduced onto the plants just after the treatment, but no significant differences compared with the controls were observed 5 days after the treatment and any consequence on the fecundity of surviving females was detected. Our experiments showed how azadirachtin can be noxious to M. caliginosus , but the short persistence makes this active ingredient a promising solution in integrated pest management programmes, when a lapse of time is guaranteed between the treatment and the introduction of the predator.  相似文献

Cannibalism and the effects of host plant, sex, time and food resources on its expression were studied for the zoophagous mirid Macrolophus pygmaeus Wagner (Hemiptera: Miridae). Cannibalistic behaviour was studied by offering 5 conspecific larvae (first instar) to newly emerging adults. Four treatments were studied: without water, with water only, with a host plant (tobacco) and with both a host plant and prey (eggs of Ephestia kuehniella). Cannibalism was observed in all treatments. In the “host plant + eggs of E. kuehniella” treatment, very few individuals displayed cannibalistic behaviour. The proportion of cannibalism was only reduced when eggs of E. kuehniella were offered. Water (free or via a host plant) was very important for both survival and feeding. The cannibalistic behaviour of M. pygmaeus should be taken into account when planning a release strategy in the context of biological control.  相似文献

1. In a field experiment we examined the interactive effects of two common predators of zooplankton, bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) and Chaoborus spp. on the growth rate and habitat use of three congeneric prey species (Daphnia). Bluegill and Chaoborus both consume Daphnia, but bluegill also prey on Chaoborus. The prey species, Daphnia pulicaria, D. rosea and D. retrocurva, differed in body size and vertical distribution. We expected the largest species, D. pulicaria, to be most vulnerable to fish predation and the smallest species, D. retrocurva, to be most vulnerable to Chaoborus predation. 2. As we expected, the population growth rate of D. pulicaria was significantly reduced by fish. However, Chaoborus also significantly reduced the growth rate of this species. No significant interaction effect was detected, indicating that the effect of these predators was additive. The growth rates of D. rosea and D. retrocurva were significantly reduced by Chaoborus, but a significant interaction effect indicated that the effect of Chaoborus was stronger in the absence of fish than when fish were present. Therefore the impact of Chaoborus and fish on D. rosea and D. retrocurva was non-additive. The interactive effect of the two predators on D. retrocurva was greater in magnitude than on D. rosea. 3. In the absence of predators, the three Daphnia species showed no differences in mean habitat depth between day and night. Both predators significantly affected diel habitat use of D. pulicaria and D. rosea. Fish caused both of these Daphnia species to move deeper during the day, whereas Chaoborus caused Daphnia to move into shallower water at night. Daphnia retrocurva tended to migrate upwards at night in all predator treatments, but no significant differences in migration were observed among the predator treatments. The effects of predators on habitat use were not interactive for any prey species. 4. Our results suggest that body size, habitat use and the diel migratory response to predators are important factors mediating the interactive effects of multiple predator types on zooplankton.  相似文献

The population parameters and biological characteristics of the predator Macrolophus pygmaeus Rambur when feeding on eggplant, Solanum melongena L., and tomato, Lycopersicon esculentum (Miller) (both Solanaceae), without access to prey, were investigated at several temperatures. The experiments were conducted at 15, 20, 25, and 30 degrees C, 65 +/- 5% RH, and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L:D) h. Females oviposited on both plant species at all temperatures, with the exception of tomato at 30 degrees C. Fecundity was highest at 20 degrees C (21.55 and 8.28 eggs per female on eggplant and tomato, respectively). Adult longevity on both host plants was greatest at 15 degrees C, reaching 38.72 and 34.20 d for females and 92.88 and 62.80 d for males, on eggplant and tomato, respectively. The estimated values of population parameters showed that this predator increased its numbers on eggplant at all temperatures tested, but the highest intrinsic rate of increase occurred at 25 degrees C (0.0401 d(-1)). On tomato, this predator could not increase in number, although it could survive for a relatively long period. Results demonstrated that M. pygmaeus can survive on both host plants in periods of prey scarcity, particularly on eggplant. Therefore, phytophagy can positively contribute to the effectiveness of this biological control agent. The importance of eggplant as a reservoir for the predator in mixed crops that are less suitable host plants is discussed.  相似文献

The Colorless non-ripening (Cnr) mutation in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) results in mature fruits with colorless pericarp tissue showing an excessive loss of cell adhesion (A.J. Thompson, M. Tor, C.S. Barry, J. Vrebalov, C. Orfila, M.C. Jarvis, J.J. Giovannoni, D. Grierson, G.B. Seymour [1999] Plant Physiol 120: 383-390). This pleiotropic mutation is an important tool for investigating the biochemical and molecular basis of cell separation during ripening. This study reports on the changes in enzyme activity associated with cell wall disassembly in Cnr and the effect of the mutation on the program of ripening-related gene expression. Real-time PCR and biochemical analysis demonstrated that the expression and activity of a range of cell wall-degrading enzymes was altered in Cnr during both development and ripening. These enzymes included polygalacturonase, pectinesterase (PE), galactanase, and xyloglucan endotransglycosylase. In the case of PE, the protein product of the ripening-related isoform PE2 was not detected in the mutant. In contrast with wild type, Cnr fruits were rich in basic chitinase and peroxidase activity. A microarray and differential screen were used to profile the pattern of gene expression in wild-type and Cnr fruits. They revealed a picture of the gene expression in the mutant that was largely consistent with the real-time PCR and biochemical experiments. Additionally, these experiments demonstrated that the Cnr mutation had a profound effect on many aspects of ripening-related gene expression. This included a severe reduction in the expression of ripening-related genes in mature fruits and indications of premature expression of some of these genes in immature fruits. The program of gene expression in Cnr resembles to some degree that found in dehiscence or abscission zones. We speculate that there is a link between events controlling cell separation in tomato, a fleshy fruit, and those involved in the formation of dehiscence zones in dry fruits.  相似文献

Intraguild predation (IGP) among predatory species can influence many plant-arthropod associations. However, the relevance of IGP is poorly understood for truly omnivorous species such as those that can complete development on both animal and plant diets. Here we test the hypothesis that IGP among two omnivorous mirids is more common when extraguild food is either absent or not suitable. Laboratory experiments were performed in experimental cages in order to determine the effect of intraguild prey densities and diet availability on direction and intensity of IGP between Dicyphus tamaninii and Macrolophus caliginosus (Heteroptera: Miridae). Intraguild predation was symmetrical between the two mirid species in the absence of alternative food. Increasing densities of intraguild prey enhanced drastically the incidence of IGP. Intraguild predation was reduced when mirids were in the presence of green or red tomato fruits, but the presence of any other extraguild resources had no impact on IGP level. However, when given before the experiments, all resources with the exception of tomato leaves significantly reduced IGP. A second experiment was performed on live plants to compare the results of the previous trials with that obtained in a more natural setting. No IGP was observed when both mirid species were present on a plant. However, development of the intraguild prey (the more vulnerable stage) was hindered by the presence of the intraguild predator. The potential of such results is discussed from community ecology and biological control perspective.  相似文献

It has been reported that PG is a key enzyme related to the tomato fruit ripening. In this study tomato fruits were harvested at the mature-green stage and stored at room temperature. The cell ultrastructure of pericarp tissue was observed at different ripening stages, and the effects of treatments with ethylene and calcium on PG activity and fruit ripening were examined. The object of this study is to elucidate the role of PG in regulation of tomato fruit ripening by ethylene and calcium. PG activity, was undetectable at mature-green stage, but it rose rapidly as fruif ripening. The rise in PG activity was coincided with the dechnmg of fruit firmness during ripening of tomato fruits. The observation of cell ultrastructure showed that the most of grana in chloroplast were lost and the mitochondrial cristae decreased as fruit ripening. Striking changes of cell wall structure was most noted, beginning with dissolution of the middle lamella and eventual disruption of primary cell wall. A similar pattern of changes of cell wall and chloroplast have been observed in pericarp tissue treated with PG extract. In fruits treated with calcium and other divalent metal ions atmature-green stage, the lycopene content and PG activity decreased dramatically. Ethylene application enhanced the formation of lycopene and PG activity. The inhibition of Ca2+ on PG ac ivity was removed by ethylene. Based on the above results, it was demonstrated that PG played a major role in ripening of tomato fruits, and suggested that the regulation of fruit ripening by ethylene and Ca2+ was all mediated by PG. PG induced the hydrolysis of cell wall and released the other hydrolytic enzymes, then effected the ripening processes follow up.  相似文献
