The measured divergence angles between successive primordiain the developing flower were compared with angles expectedon several hypotheses concerning primordial initiation. Theresults lead to the conclusion that the position and sequenceof initiation of the younger sepals is determined by the olderones but that the influence of an older primordium lasts foronly two plastochrons. The petals and carpels are apparentlypositioned by the sepals. The positions of the stamens are consistentwith their king determined by the sepals (antesepalous stamens)or petals (antepctalous stamens), but their sequence of initiationis consistent with its being determined, like the sepals, bythe two youngest primordia. The data indicate that there aretwo sets of factors governing the initiation of the primordiasubsequent to the sepals: one governing the positioning of theprimordia and resembling the factors governing the positionsof axillary buds, and the other governing the sequence of primordiaand resembling the factors which determine the initiation ofleaves. Measurements of the plastochron ratios were used tocalculate the sizes of the sepal, petal and stamen primordiaat initiation. At the moment of initiation the sepal primordiawere about one third, and the petal and stamen primordia aboutone sixth, of the size of the leaf primordia. In its early developmentthe Silene flower therefore resembles a condensed leafy shootwith precocious axillary buds but with primordia which are smallcompared to leaf primordia. 用扫描电子显微镜(SEM)对铁线莲属(Clematis L.)植物灌木铁线莲(C. fruticosa Turcz.)花的形态发生和发育过程进行了观察。灌木铁线莲花原基形成后,4枚萼片以交互对生的方式首先发生,呈轮状排列。最早的4枚雄蕊原基在4枚萼片交接的位置上近螺旋状发生,此后,随着雄蕊原基的向心发生和数目不断增多,其发生的螺旋状序列逐渐明显。雄蕊原基发生后,在花原基顶端,心皮原基沿着雄蕊原基的发生序列呈螺旋状发生。本文结果支持在原始被子植物花中螺旋状排列和轮状排列同时存在的观点。此外,本文也进一步证实了花萼与苞片的同源性。  相似文献

花的发生和发育过程研究可以发现早期进化的轨迹,为系统发育的研究提供重要线索。蓝堇草属(Leptopyrum)为毛茛科唐松草亚科一单种属,仅包含蓝堇草一种,其花的发生和发育过程仍为空白。为了深入理解唐松草亚科乃至毛茛科花发育多样性和演化规律,该文运用扫描电子显微镜(SEM)观察了蓝堇草各轮花器官的形态发生和发育过程。结果表明:该属植物所有的萼片、花瓣、雄蕊和雌蕊均为螺旋状发生,花器官排列式样也为螺旋状; 5枚萼片原基宽阔,5枚花瓣原基圆球形、位于萼片原基的间隔,且在后期表现为延迟发育现象,雄蕊原基较小、为圆球形;花瓣原基和雄蕊原基连续发生,无明显的时空间隔,但与萼片原基有时空间隔;心皮原基为马蹄形对折,柱头组织由单细胞乳突组成;胚珠倒生、具单珠被。该属花器官螺旋状排列、胚珠具单珠被在唐松草亚科中是独有的性状,花发育形态学证据支持了该属的特殊性。  相似文献

The growth of the flower and its constituent parts was measuredin Silene coeli-rosa plants, induced at 13, 20 and 27 °C,in order to try and identify those processes which consistentlyoccurred and would therefore be more likely to be essentialfor flower formation. The increased growth rate of the apical dome just before orabout the time of sepal initiation was not maintained in theflower, the growth rate of which was comparable to that of avegetative apex until all the carpels had been initiated, whenit decreased further. The primordia of the same whorl all hadsimilar growth rates so that the relative sizes of the primordiareflected their relative ages since their initiation. The relativegrowth rate of the stamens was the same (13 and 20 °C) orless (27 °C) than that of the sepals, but the relative growthrate of the petals was lower than either. The growth rate ofthe flower axis was least at the sepal node and increased bothdistally and proximally from this region. The plastochron during sepal initiation was shorter than forleaf initiation and tended to be shorter still during initiationof stamens and petals. Increasing temperature increased therate of primordial initiation but at 27 °C the growth ratesof the primordia were lowest although the rates of primordiainitiation were highest. The form of the flower, as exemplifiedby the relative sizes of the primordia at the moment when allcarpels had been initiated, was constant despite the differinggrowth rates and sizes of the primordia on initiation in differenttemperatures. It is concluded that neither the initiation ofthe primordia in the flower nor the form of the flower is determinedprimarily by the relative growth rates of its component parts. The initiation and development of the floral organs of Brassica napus L. (cv. Westar) were examined using the scanning electron microscope. After transition of the vegetative apex into an inflorescence apex, flower primordia were initiated in a helical phyllotactic pattern. The sequence of initiation of the floral organs in a flower bud was that of sepals, stamens, petals and gynoecium. Of the four sepal primordia, the abaxial was initiated first, followed by the two lateral and finally the adaxial primordium. The four long stamens were initiated simultaneously in positions alternating with the sepals. The two short stamens were initiated basipetal to and outside the long stamens, and opposite the lateral sepals. The petals arose on either side of the two short stamens and the gynoecium was produced from the remainder of the apex. During development, the sepal primordia curved sharply at the tips and tightly enclosed the other organs. Stamen primordia developed tetralobed anthers at an early stage while filament elongation occurred just prior to anthesis. A unique pattern of bulbous cells was present on the abaxial surface of the anther. Growth of petal primordia lagged relative to the other floral organs but expansion was rapid prior to anthesis. The gynoecium primordium was characterized by an invagination early in development. At maturity, there was differentiation of a papillate stigma, an elongated style and a long ovary marked externally by sutures and divided internally by a septum. Distinct patterns of cuticular thickenings were observed on the abaxial and adaxial surfaces of the petals and stamens and on the surface of the style. The patterns were less obvious on the sepals and ovary. Stomata were present on both surfaces of the mature sepals, on the style and restricted areas on the abaxial surface of the anthers and nectaries but were absent from the petals, the adaxial surface of the stamens and the ovary. The inflorescence of Houttuynia cordata produces 45–70 sessile bracteate flowers in acropetal succession. The inflorescence apical meristem has a mantle-core configuration and produces “common” or uncommitted primordia, each of which bifurcates to form a floral apex above, a bract primordium below. This pattern of organogenesis is similar to that in another saururaceous plant, Saururus cernuus. Exceptions to this unusual development, however, occur in H. cordata at the beginning of inflorescence activity when four to eight petaloid bract primordia are initiated before the initiation of floral apices in their axils. “Common” primordia also are lacking toward the cessation of inflorescence apical activity in H. cordata when primordia become bracts which may precede the initiation of an axillary floral apex. Many of these last-formed bracts are sterile. The inflorescence terminates with maturation of the meristem as an apical residuum. No terminal flowers or terminal gynoecia were found, although subterminal gynoecia or flowers in subterminal position may overtop the actual apex and obscure it. Individual flowers have a tricarpellate syncarpous gynoecium and three stamens adnate to the carpels; petals and sepals are lacking. The order of succession of organs is: two lateral stamens, median stamen, two lateral carpels, median carpel. The three carpel primordia almost immediately are elevated as part of a gynoecial ring by zonal growth of the receptacle below the attachment of the carpels. The same growth elevates the stamen bases so that they appear adnate to the carpels. The trimerous condition in Houttuynia is the result of paired or solitary initiations rather than trimerous whorls. Symmetry is bilateral and zygomorphic rather than radial. No evidence of spiral arrangement in the flower was found.  相似文献

Impatiens balsamina L. was induced to flower by exposure to5 short days and then made to revert to vegetative growth byreturn to long days. After 9 long days reverted plants wereinduced to re-flower by returning them to short days. Petalinitiation began immediately and seven primordia already presentdeveloped into petals instead of into predominantly leaf-likeorgans. However, the arrangement of primordia at the shoot apex,their rate of initiation and size at initiation remained unchangedfrom the reverted apex, as did apical growth rate and the lengthof stem frusta at initiation. The more rapid flowering of thereverted plants than of plants when first induced, and the lackof change in apical growth pattern, imply that the revertedapices remain partially evoked, and that the apical growth patternand phyllotaxis typical of the flower, and already present inthe reverted plants, facilitate the transition to flower formation. 利用扫描电镜(SEM)观察了突脉金丝桃(Hypericum przewalskii)(金丝桃科)的花部器官发生发育过程。结果表明,突脉金丝桃2枚苞片原基首先发生,花原基在苞片原基的包裹中完成发育。在苞片原基发生后,5枚萼片原基沿2/5圆周依次发生。萼片原基发生近完成时,5枚雄蕊—花瓣共同原基在萼片原基之间的角隅处近同时发生,此后,雄蕊—花瓣共同原基下部向外伸展形成花瓣原基,上部向上凸起形成与花瓣原基相对的雄蕊原基,之后雄蕊原基由内向外依次分化发育产生次生雄蕊原基,随着次生雄蕊原基的发育和数目的增多,形成了5束雄蕊。次生雄蕊原基发生的同时,5枚心皮原基近同时发生。突脉金丝桃雄蕊束的发生方式表明,金丝桃属的雄蕊束可能起源于5基数的单轮雄蕊。金丝桃科与藤黄科植物花瓣及雄蕊原基发生方式的显著不同,支持了APG Ⅲ系统将金丝桃亚科从藤黄科中独立为金丝桃科的观点。  相似文献

An intriguing phenomenon in plant development is the timing and positioning of lateral organ initiation, which is a fundamental aspect of plant architecture. Although important progress has been made in elucidating the role of auxin transport in the vegetative shoot to explain the phyllotaxis of leaf formation in a spiral fashion, a model study of the role of auxin transport in whorled organ patterning in the expanding floral meristem is not available yet. We present an initial simulation approach to study the mechanisms that are expected to play an important role. Starting point is a confocal imaging study of Arabidopsis floral meristems at consecutive time points during flower development. These images reveal auxin accumulation patterns at the positions of the organs, which strongly suggests that the role of auxin in the floral meristem is similar to the role it plays in the shoot apical meristem. This is the basis for a simulation study of auxin transport through a growing floral meristem, which may answer the question whether auxin transport can in itself be responsible for the typical whorled floral pattern. We combined a cellular growth model for the meristem with a polar auxin transport model. The model predicts that sepals are initiated by auxin maxima arising early during meristem outgrowth. These form a pre-pattern relative to which a series of smaller auxin maxima are positioned, which partially overlap with the anlagen of petals, stamens, and carpels. We adjusted the model parameters corresponding to properties of floral mutants and found that the model predictions agree with the observed mutant patterns. The predicted timing of the primordia outgrowth and the timing and positioning of the sepal primordia show remarkable similarities with a developing flower in nature.  相似文献

毛茛科天葵属为东亚特有类群,但其花器官的发生过程仍不清晰。该研究利用扫描电子显微镜观察了天葵[S. adoxoides (DC.) Makino]花器官的发生过程,以揭示毛茛科花形态的多样性和演化规律,为进一步探讨天葵属与近缘类群的亲缘关系提供发育形态学证据。结果表明:(1)天葵萼片、花瓣和雄蕊均为螺旋状发生,轮状排列;不育雄蕊的数目和位置不定,心皮轮状发生。(2)天葵萼片原基为宽阔的新月形,其他花器官为窄的半球形。(3)天葵花发育后期,花瓣有延迟发育现象,花瓣原基基部发育为浅囊状,心皮原基马蹄形对折,胚珠倒生、双珠被、具胎座附属物。(4)天葵属与耧斗菜属、尾囊草属的花发育性状存在相似性,支持分子系统学证据的三者近缘的观点;天葵属的花性状的特殊表现为:花直径较小,雄蕊、不育雄蕊和心皮数目较少,花器官没有形成明显的直列线,内珠被较长等。  相似文献

Pseudowhorls are composed of leaves attached at almost equallevels and separated by single fully elongated internodes. InPeperomiaverticillata, pseudowhorls form regularly in shoots exhibitingboth spiral and truly whorled patterns of phyllotaxis. In spiralsystems, they are composed of successive leaves positioned onthe ontogenetic helix. In whorled phyllotaxis, leaves of twoadjacent whorls occur at almost the same level and this wayform a pseudowhorl. The number of leaves per pseudowhorl dependson the type of phyllotactic pattern and also the system of primordiapacking. In all the shoots, regardless of the type of phyllotaxis,the number of leaves per pseudowhorl equals the number of leafprimordia in physical contact with the apical dome. It is thesame as the higher number in contact parastichy pairs in spiralpatterns or the number of orthostichies in whorled phyllotaxis.The pseudowhorled pattern is already manifested in the arrangementof leaf primordia. In spiral and whorled phyllotaxis the plastochronratio calculated for primordia or whorls belonging to adjacentpseudowhorls is always higher than that calculated for membersof one pseudowhorl. Moreover, angular distances between primordiaof one pseudowhorl in spiral patterns are more uniform thanexpected in Fibonacci phyllotaxis. These observations were madeon plants both growing in pots and culturedin vitro. 6-Benzylaminopurine,a synthetic cytokinin, added to the medium increases the meannumber of leaves per pseudowhorl. The floral ontogeny of Pisum sativum shows a vertical order of succession of sepals, petals plus carpel, antesepalous stamens, and antepetalous stamens. Within each whorl, unidirectional order is followed among the organs, beginning on the abaxial side of the flower, as in most papilionoids. Unusual features include the four common primordia which precede initiation of discrete petal and antesepalous stamen primordia, and the marked overlap of organ initiations between whorls which are usually separately initiated. The stamens arise in free condition, then become diadelphous by intercalary growth at the base of nine stamens, and finally become pseudomonadelphous by surface fusion between the vexillary stamen filament and the adjacent edges of the filament tube. The early initiation of the carpel is not unique among papilionoids, but is somewhat unusual.  相似文献

Modified proliferous flowers arose spontaneously in a smallproportion of plants of Silene coeli-rosa growing in gardenplots. The modified flowers consisted of leaves, arranged spirallywith a mean divergence angle of 138.4° instead of the pentamerousarrangement of the normal flower, and sometimes also carpelswhich ranged from open structures with exposed ovules to follicle-likestructures, free or fused, to fully fused carpels with free-centralplacentation. In the modified flowers petals and stamens werenot formed. The primordia at initiation were intermediate insize (relative to the apical dome) between normal leaf and normalsepal primordia but were the same absolute size as the latter.The structure of these anomalous flowers is discussed in relationto the normal flowering process. The floral development and anatomy ofChrysosplenium alternifolium were studied with the scanning electron microscope and light microscope to understand the initiation sequence of the floral organs and the morphology of the flower, and to find suitable floral characters to interpret the systematic position of the genus within the Saxifragaceae. The tetramerous flower shows a highly variable initiation sequence. The median sepals and first stamens arise in a paired sequence resembling a dimerous arrangement, but the first sepal and stamen arise on the side opposite to the bract. Transversal sepals and stamens emerge sequentially, as one side often precedes the other; sepals and stamens occasionally arise on common primordia. Initiation of the gynoecium is more constant with two median carpel primordia arising on a sunken floral apex. Several flowers were found to be pentamerous with a 2/5 initiation sequence. Flowers were invariably found to be apetalous without traces of petals in primordial stages; this condition is interpreted as an apomorphy. It is postulated that the development of a broad gynoecial nectary is responsible for the occurrence of an obdiplostemonous androecium. The gynoecium shows a number of anatomical particularities not observed in other Saxifragaceae. The presence and distribution of colleters is discussed.  相似文献

Inflorescence and floral development of two tropical legume trees, Dahlstedtia pinnata and Dahlstedtia pentaphylla, occurring in the Atlantic Forest of south-eastern and southern Brazil, were investigated and compared with other papilionoids. Few studies have been made of floral development in tribe Millettieae, and this paper is intended to fill that gap in our knowledge. Dahlstedtia species have an unusual inflorescence type among legumes, the pseudoraceme, which comprises axillary units of three or more flowers, each with a subtending bract. Each flower exhibits a pair of opposite bracteoles. The order of flower initiation is acropetal; inception of the floral organs is as follows: sepals (5), petals (5), carpel (1) plus outer stamens (5) and finally inner stamens (5). Organ initiation in sepal, petal and inner stamen whorls is unidirectional; the carpel cleft is adaxial. The vexillum originates from a tubular-shaped primordium in mid-development and is larger than other petals at maturity, covering the keels. The filament tube develops later after initiation of inner-stamen primordia. Floral development in Dahlstedtia is almost always similar to other papilionoids, especially species of Phaseoleae and Sophoreae. But one important difference is the precocious ovule initiation (open carpel with ovules) in Dahlstedtia, the third citation of this phenomenon for papilionoids. No suppression, organ loss or anomalies occur in the order of primordia initiation or structure. Infra-generic differences in the first stages of ontogeny are rare; however, different species of Dahlstedtia are distinguished by the differing distribution pattern of secretory cavities in the flower.  相似文献

We examined the floral development of Dichocarpum fargesii, Thalictrum fargesii, Thalictrum przewalskii, and Aquilegia yabeana in Thalictroideae, Ranunculaceae, by scanning electron microscope. The sepals are initiated spirally in D. fargesii and A. yabeana, and in two pairs (with four sepals) or spirally (with five sepals) in T. fargesii and T. przewalskii. The petals in D. fargesii and A. yabeana and the stamens and carpels are initiated in a whorled pattern in all three genera. The floral phyllotaxis is whorled in these genera. The primordia of sepals are lunular and truncate, but that of petals and/or stamens are hemispherical, rounded, and much smaller than the sepal primordia. A relatively long plastochron exists between the last sepal and the first petal in D. fargesii and A. yabeana or the first stamen in T. fargesii and T. przewalskii. The similarity between the primordia of petals and stamens may indicate an evolutionary relationship between petals and stamens. The petals develop slower than the stamens in D. fargesii, but faster than stamens in A. yabeana. The early developmental stages of the staminodes in A. yabeana are similar to that of stamens, so they may be phylogenetically homologous organs. The carpel primordia are initiated in a single whorl; are lunular in shape and plicate in A. yabeana and D. fargesii; and are initiated spirally and hemispheric in shape and ascidiate in T. fargesii and T. przewlaskii. The stigma is everted and decurrent with unicellular papillae in T. fargesii and T. przewalskii; the head has unicellular papillae in D. fargesii and is smooth in A. yabeana. The floral development features of Aquilegia are unique in Thalictroideae.  相似文献

The floral ontogeny of three species of Tropaeolum was studiedusing scanning electron microscopy to find morphological evidencefor discussing the systematic position of the family. The initiationof the androecium is highly unusual: there are always eightstamens which arise (1) either in a spiral sequence startingwith the stamen opposite sepal four, running in a directionopposite to the sequence of the sepals, and with reversals inthe direction of the spiral, or (2) as a sequence of pairedand unpaired stamens. The floral symmetry changes twice duringthe development of the flower, from polysymmetrical at sepaland petal initiation, through oblique monosymmetry at stameninitiation, and ending with median monosymmetry in later developmentalstages. The occurrence of median monosymmetry is a late-developmentalevent and is caused by the initiation of a hypanthial spur,and the unequal growth of the petals and styles. The originfor the unusual sequence of stamen initiation reflects a trendaffecting the whole flower which is linked with the changingpatterns of floral symmetry. Octandry is enhanced by multiplecauses, such as the loss of two stamens in an originally diplostemonousandroecium and the regulating pressure of the gynoecium. Thechange in symmetry during ontogeny is significant for discussingthe systematic position of Tropaeolaceae in comparison withthe glucosinolate-producing taxa and the Sapindales. The combinationof an androecium with eight stamens and oblique monosymmetryis either a single event in evolution and links Tropaeolum withthe Sapindales, or it has evolved at least twice, once in theSapindales, and once in a clade comprising Tropaeolaceae, Akaniaceaeand Bretschneideraceae. Morphological data support a sistergroup relationship of the three latter families, which is inline with macromolecular studies. 以不同发育时期的长角凤仙花Impatiens longicornuta Y.L.Chen(凤仙花科Balsaminaceae)为材料,利用扫描电镜技术观察了其花器官的分化及其发育过程。长角凤仙花为两侧对称花,具2枚侧生萼片,唇瓣囊状,旗瓣具鸡冠状突起,雄蕊5枚,子房上位,5心皮5室。其花器官分化顺序为向心式,萼片—花瓣—雄蕊—雌蕊原基。2枚侧生萼片先发生,然后近轴萼片(即唇瓣)原基和2枚前外侧萼片原基近同时发生;但是这3枚萼片原基的发育不同步,远轴的2枚前外侧萼片原基的发育渐渐滞后,然后停止发育,最后渐渐为周围组织所吸收,直至消失不见。花瓣原基中,旗瓣原基最先发生,4个侧生花瓣原基相继成对发生,且之后在基部成对愈合形成翼瓣;5枚雄蕊原基几乎同时发生,5个心皮原基轮状同时发生。本文结果支持凤仙花属植物为5基数的花,并进一步证实了唇瓣的萼片来源;此外,研究结果表明花器官早期发育资料对植物系统与进化研究具有重要参考价值。  相似文献

The vegetative morphology of Theobroma cacao, the cacao tree, was studied in order to provide a foundation for further investigations on the morphogenesis of the cacao dimorphic shoot system. The seedling of cacao has a determinate orthotropic shoot with a (2+3) phyllotaxis. Branch dimorphism is initiated after 1 to 2 years of growth at which time the apical meristem of the orthotropic shoot aborts and a pseudowhorl of plagiotropic branches is initiated from axillary positions in the shoot tip. The plagiotropic branches are characterized by a distichous phyllotaxis and indeterminate growth. Subsequently an axillary bud below the pseudowhorl develops into a new orthotropic shoot. The apical meristem of this shoot eventually aborts and another pseudowhorl is formed. The apical anatomy of the two types of shoots is similar. The developmental potentiality of the orthotropic shoot axillary buds to form one or the other type of shoot was investigated. The phyllotaxis of the axillary buds of the orthotropic shoot is spiral and that of the axillary buds of the plagiotropic branch is distichous. Pruning and apical puncture experiments showed that the axillary buds of a plagiotropic branch, and of an orthotropic seedling shoot which has not yet formed a pseudowhorl, always give rise to the parent type of shoot. However, the axillary buds of an orthotropic shoot which already bears a pseudowhorl give rise to either type of shoot for several nodes below the point of origin of the pseudowhorl. The type of shoot has no influence on the form of branch which develops from an axillary bud grafted to it. This evidence supports the hypothesis that the axillary buds are initiated as one or the other type of shoot, i.e., once initiated they are predestined.  相似文献
