Frequencies and sequences of visually-identifiable acts were investigated in male-female combinations of gerbils of the taxa Tatera brantsii, Gerbillurus paeba paeba, G. p. exilis, G. tytonis, G. setzeri, and G. vallinus. Sexual dimorphism of behaviour was most apparent in T. brantsii, G. setzeri, and G. vallinus, in which following, anogenital sniffing, and mounting were significantly more frequently performed by males than females. Females of all taxa presented and darted, while males did not perform these acts. Analysis of first-order transitions of acts in intraspecific encounters revealed remarkable similarity among species in the sequences identified as most significantly deviating from expected frequency. Species-specific patterns of behaviour were detected by discriminant analysis. G. p. paeba, G. p. exilis and G. vallinus were not clearly distinguished by discriminant analysis, and presented a behaviour pattern characterized by low levels of aggression and high levels of huddling behaviour. G. tytonis, G. setzeri and T. brantsii were characterized by low levels of huddling, G. tytonis performed the largest number of upright postures of all taxa, G. setzeri watched more than other taxa, and T. brantsii nasal sniffed less frequently than Gerbillurus taxa. Differences among taxa were more apparent in males than in females. Interspecific encounters were staged between G. p. paeba and G. p. exilis, G. p. paeba and G. tytonis, G. setzeri and G. vallinus. Males showed more evidence of changed behaviour in interspecific encounters than females. More sexual and less agonistic behaviour was detected in intraspecific encounters than in interspecific encounters, but this was statistically significant in only 5 of 12 combinations. Visual, tactile and olfactory communication during physical contact with another individual may complement auditory communication in promoting conspecific recognition in southern African gerbils.  相似文献

Encounters were staged between male and oestrus-induced females of the same or different taxa of the species/subspecies Gerbillurus paeba paeba, G. p. exilis, G. tytonis, G. setzeri, G. vallinus and Tatera brantsii. Each encounter lasted 20 min; converted ultrasonic emissions were recorded on videotape simultaneously with visual images. Videotapes were transcribed and sequences of acts and vocalizations were recorded. The frequency of acts was compared separately with the number of ultrasonic vocalizations during and after acts by χ2 contingency table analysis, followed by partitioned χ2 to identify individual acts which contributed significantly to the overall χ2 value. Vocalizations occurred significantly more frequently than expected during sexual and/or huddling behaviour in all species-groups; and significantly less frequently than expected during exploratory, watching and/or submissive behaviour. Vocalizations were uncommon during investigative behaviour in all taxa, and aggressive behaviour in Gerbillurus taxa, but occurred significantly more frequently than expected after these behaviour categories in all taxa. Analysis of vocalizations immediately following acts verified the interpretations of function of vocalizations during acts. Ultrasonic vocalizations clearly play an important role in the communication of six taxa of southern African gerbils.  相似文献

Intraspecific agonistic behaviour was investigated by means of staged encounters in Gerbillurus paeba paeba, G. p. exilis, G. tytonis, G. setzeri and G. vallinus. Four groups of behaviour were identified by motivational analysis: i.e. “exploratory and solitary”, “aggressive”, “submissive”, and “sexual” behaviour. Frequencies of acts and levels of interaction differed among species and sexes. Cluster analysis of behaviour data revealed three clusters which agree partially with the karyology and taxonomy of the genus. G. p. paeba and G. tytonis were very aggressive and highly active; female G. p. exilis and G. setzeri less so; while male G. p. exilis and G. vallinus were least aggressive and active, performing more contact-promoting behaviour than other species. A range of social types is exhibited from solitary (G. p. paeba and G. tytonis) through semi-tolerant (G. setzeri and female G. p. exilis) to tolerant (male G. p. exilis and G. vallinus).  相似文献

Ultrasonic calling during male-female encounters between individuals of the same species was investigated in six taxa of southern African gerbils, namely Tatera brantsii, Gerbillurus paeba paeba, G. p. cxilis, G. tytonis, G. setzeri, and G. vallinus. Vocalizations were detected by means of a bat detector utilizing a superheterodyne signal converter and a countdown circuit. Signals were recorded at audible frequencies and analysed with a sonograph. All taxa vocalized at ultrasonic frequencies by means of strongly modulated frequency “sweep” calls, which differed among taxa in duration, maximum and minimum frequency. “Clicks” were emitted by G. p. paeba and G. p. exilis, and G. tytonis emitted a “stutter” vocalization which consisted of a series of clicks. Long modulated “whistles” were identified from G. vallinus and T. brantsii at lower frequencies than “sweep” calls. Only one call type, a “sweep” call which differed in duration and frequency from all other taxa, was identified in G. setzeri. Cluster analysis was applied to the data using 7 acoustic characters. G. p. paeba and G. p. exilis displayed the highest similarity level between taxa and differed only in frequency of “sweep” vocalizations. G. paeba, G. tytonis and G. setzeri formed one cluster, while G. vallinus and T. brantsii formed a separate cluster. Numbers of calls in interspecific encounters were non-significantly less than in intraspecific encounters in all taxa except G. p. paeba, in which more vocalizations were recorded in inter- than intraspecific encounters. It is not clear whether species discrimination, measured by numbers of vocalizations in interspecific encounters, occurs.  相似文献

Staged 10-min encounters between male and female gerbils of the same species were characterized by high levels of exploratory and solitary behaviour, variable levels of agonistic behaviour, and little contact-promoting behaviour. Female Gerbillurus paeba paeba, G. p. exilis and G. tytonis dominated males of these species, while male and female G. setzeri and G. vallinus were equally aggressive. Results of this study indicate that G. p. paeba, G. p. exilis and G. tytonis are aggressively solitary and that females behave aggressively towards unfamiliar males, while G. setzeri and G. vallinus are more tolerant. This is in partial agreement with findings for other gerbil species.  相似文献

We investigated the importance of the MHC-constitution (major histocompatibility complex-constitution) on the endoparasite load in free-range hairy-footed gerbils (Gerbillurus paeba) in the southern Kalahari Desert. While the number of alleles of the duplicated DRB exon 2 gene had no significant effects on the individual status of being 'not infected' or 'infected' and on the number of helminth morphotype infections per individual, it significantly affected the faecal egg count values. One allele (Gepa-DRB*15) was only found in uninfected mice. Our results support the hypotheses that MHC polymorphism in G. paeba is maintained by pathogen-driven selection. The present study is the first investigation on associations between duplicated DRB gene loci and the parasite load in mammals.  相似文献

Maternal nutrient restriction and impaired fetal growth are associated with postnatal insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, and glucose intolerance in humans but not consistently in other species, such as the rat or sheep. We therefore determined the effect of mild (85% ad libitum intake/kg body wt) or moderate (70% ad libitum intake/kg body wt) maternal feed restriction throughout pregnancy on glucose and insulin responses to an intravenous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT) in the young adult guinea pig. Maternal feed restriction reduced birth weight (mild and moderate: both P < 0.02) in male offspring. Moderate restriction increased plasma glucose area under the curve (P < 0.04) and decreased the glucose tolerance index (K(G)) (P < 0.02) during the IVGTT in male offspring compared with those of mildly restricted but not of ad libitum-fed mothers. Moderate restriction increased fasting plasma insulin (P < 0.04, adjusted for litter size) and the insulin response to IVGTT (P < 0.001), and both moderate and mild restriction increased the insulin-to-glucose ratio during the IVGTT (P < 0.003 and P < 0.02) in male offspring. When offspring were classed into tertiles according to birth weight, glucose tolerance was not altered, but fasting insulin concentrations were increased in low compared with medium birth weight males (P < 0.03). The insulin-to-glucose ratio throughout the IVGTT was increased in low compared with medium (P < 0.01) or high (P < 0.05) birth weight males. Thus maternal feed restriction in the guinea pig restricts fetal growth and causes hyperinsulinemia in young adult male offspring, suggestive of insulin resistance. These findings suggest that mild to moderate prenatal perturbation programs postnatal glucose homeostasis adversely in the guinea pig, as in the human.  相似文献

tmRNA and protein SmpB are the main components required for rescue of stalled ribosomes incapable of properly elongating or terminating the polypeptide chain. We examined the tmRNA level and protein synthesis in Streptomyces aureofaciens, S. griseus and S. collinus synthesizing tetracycline, streptomycin and kirromycin, respectively, during various stress conditions. Downshift in temperature caused a decrease in protein synthesis but the level of tmRNA increased. Shift up in temperature induced decay of tmRNA in all strains and in S. collinus led to stimulation and in S. aureofaciens and S. griseus to inhibition of protein synthesis. At high NaCl concentrations protein synthesis was inhibited and tmRNA decayed. Shift in pH from 7.0 to 5.0 had no pronounced effect on the tmRNA level while upshift to pH 9.0 in S. collinus and S. aureofaciens caused inhibition of protein synthesis and decay of tmRNA in S. collinus. In contrast, protein synthesis and tmRNA level increased in S. griseus at the alkaline pH. Our data show that tmRNA abundance is important for survival of streptomycetes under certain unfavorable conditions.  相似文献

Phodopus campbelli has an extensive paternal behavior repertoire whereas the closely-related Phodopus sungorus is not paternally responsive to a displaced pup. For the first time in a naturally paternal mammal, male estradiol and progesterone were determined during two critical phases: (1) the transition from sexually naive male to paired, expectant father that occurs in the absence of stimuli from pups (sexually naive males, paired males on G8, G12, G15, or G17 of the 18-day gestation) and (2) after pup stimuli became available to the males (paired males on days L1, L3, L5, or L12 of pup development). Hormone concentrations in naive males and between G17 and L1 (as stimuli from the birth and the pups became available to males) were also compared. Paternal responsiveness was tested on L3-L5 and confirmed species differences. Hormone concentrations in naive males were similar in the two species and males of both species had estradiol concentrations as high as fertile adult females. However, in direct contrast to predictions, estradiol concentrations were stable in P. campbelli males but increased before the birth, fell across the birth, and increased over pup development in P. sungorus males. Progesterone concentrations in P. campbelli males increased from G17 to L1 whereas a decrease had been predicted. Testosterone dynamics were consistent with previous studies. Either hormonal facilitation of paternal behavior is a hyper-variable trait that has evolved differently in different species, or, more probably, peripheral hormone concentrations are inadequate to explain the role of sex steroid hormones in paternal behavior.  相似文献

The side chain of the antifungal antibiotic ansatrienin A from Streptomyces collinus contains a cyclohexanecarboxylic acid (CHC)-derived moiety. This moiety is also observed in trace amounts of omega-cyclohexyl fatty acids (typically less than 1% of total fatty acids) produced by S. collinus. Coenzyme A-activated CHC (CHC-CoA) is derived from shikimic acid through a reductive pathway involving a minimum of nine catalytic steps. Five putative CHC-CoA biosynthetic genes in the ansatrienin biosynthetic gene cluster of S. collinus have been identified. Plasmid-based heterologous expression of these five genes in Streptomyces avermitilis or Streptomyces lividans allows for production of significant amounts of omega-cyclohexyl fatty acids (as high as 49% of total fatty acids). In the absence of the plasmid these organisms are dependent on exogenously supplied CHC for omega-cyclohexyl fatty acid production. Doramectin is a commercial antiparasitic avermectin analog produced by fermenting a bkd mutant of S. avermitilis in the presence of CHC. Introduction of the S. collinus CHC-CoA biosynthetic gene cassette into this organism resulted in an engineered strain able to produce doramectin without CHC supplementation. The CHC-CoA biosynthetic gene cluster represents an important genetic tool for precursor-directed biosynthesis of doramectin and has potential for directed biosynthesis in other important polyketide-producing organisms.  相似文献

We report the cloning of the gene encoding the 1-cyclohexenylcarbonyl coenzyme A reductase (ChcA) of Streptomyces collinus, an enzyme putatively involved in the final reduction step in the formation of the cyclohexyl moiety of ansatrienin from shikimic acid. The cloned gene, with a proposed designation of chcA, encodes an 843-bp open reading frame which predicts a primary translation product of 280 amino acids and a calculated molecular mass of 29.7 kDa. Highly significant sequence similiarity extending along almost the entire length of the protein was observed with members of the short-chain alcohol dehydrogenase superfamily. The S. collinus chcA gene was overexpressed in Escherichia coli by using a bacteriophage T7 transient expression system, and a protein with a specific ChcA activity was detected. The E. coli-produced ChcA protein was purified and shown to have similar steady-state kinetics and electrophoretic mobility on sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels as the enoyl-coenzyme A reductase protein prepared from S. collinus. The enzyme demonstrated the ability to catalyze, in vitro, three of the reductive steps involved in the formation of cyclohexanecarboxylic acid. An S. collinus chcA mutant, constructed by deletion of a genomic region comprising the 5' end of chcA, lost the ChcA activity and the ability to synthesize either cyclohexanecarboxylic acid or ansatrienin. These results suggest that chcA encodes the ChcA that is involved in catalyzing multiple reductive steps in the pathway that provides the cyclohexanecarboxylic acid from shikimic acid.  相似文献

Bennett's wallaby ( Macropus r. rufogriseus ) of Tasmania give birth from late January to early August in marked contrast to the Red-necked wallaby ( M. r. banksianus ) of mainland south-eastern Australia which produced young in all months. Within the breeding season however, the lengths of the oestrous cycle and gestation period are similar in the two forms and did not differ by more than 0.5 days. The gestation period of about 30 days extended to almost the length of the oestrous cycle of approximately 33 days. Birth was closely followed by mating which normally resulted in fertilization and subsequent embryonic diapause. Renewed blastocyst development was initiated by removal or loss of a pouch young and birth followed about 27 days later.
Unlike other macropodids with a similar breeding pattern, birth, as a result of renewed blastocyst development near the end of a large young's pouch life, did not occur within a day or two of the permanent emergence of the young, but followed 16 to 29 days later. In M. r. rufogriseus , young that left the pouch permanently in the non-breeding period were not replaced by new young until the beginning of the next breeding season two to four months later, and blastocysts resulting from mating of females without pouch young at the end of the breeding season remained quiescent until the next breeding season five to eight months later.
Females of both subspecies first mated at an age of about 14 months, and males were producing mature spermatozoa by about 19 months.
Young first left the pouch for short periods at about 230 days of age and permanently at about 280 days.
Observations are also given on reproductive behaviour, interpretation of vaginal smears, sex ratio of young, selection of teat by pouch young, and development of morphological features in known-age young that may be used as an aid in age determination.  相似文献

Comparative analysis of the G- and C-banding patterns in six morphologically similar species of the genus Gerbilliscus(G. gambianus, G. guineae, G. kempi, Gerbilliscus sp., G. robustus and G. leucogaster) and one belonging to the genus Gerbillurus (G. tytonis) from 27 West, East and South African localities was carried out. Our study revealed that 17 rearrangements comprising seven fissions, five translocations and five inversions occurred in the evolution of this group, with 1-13 rearrangements differentiating the various species. In addition the unusually large sex chromosomes appear to be species-specific as judged by size and morphology reflecting structural rearrangements as well as the variable presence of a large amount of C-heterochromatin found in each species at a particular chromosomal location. These karyotypic features allow us to recognize five distinct species in West Africa (compared to the two recognized in recent taxonomic lists) and to roughly delimit their geographical distributions. The pattern of phylogenetic relationships inferred from a cladistic analysis of the chromosomal data is in good agreement with recent molecular phylogenetic studies that recognize a West African species group within the genus Gerbilliscus, and the monophyly of both Gerbilliscus and Gerbillurus.  相似文献

Aqueous extract of C. collinus leaves inhibited norepinephrine induced contraction in guinea pig vas deferens and aortic strip in a dose-dependent manner. Inhibition of acetylcholine induced contraction in ileum was dose independent. C. collinus extract per se had no effect on isolated guinea pig vas deferens and aortic strip, but inhibited norepinephrine induced contraction in a dose-dependent manner probably by its antagonist action on alpha-adrenergic receptor. PATTERNS OF PARENTAL CARE AND PARENTAL INVESTMENT IN MARSUPIALS   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
I. Information on growth, development and care of young has been assembled for 62 species of marsupial. 2. During gestation, development of the marsupial embryo proceeds only so far as to allow the neonate to make its way from the urogenital opening to the mammary area on the abdomen of the female where it attaches to a teat. Specific structural adaptations keep the neonate firmly attached to the teat for at least the first month after birth. 3. Six types of pouch are distinguished ranging from lateral folds of skin, which do not cover the mammary area or enclose the developing young, to a fold of skin that covers the mammary area and forms a deep pouch, completely enclosing the developing young. 4. Although the young is very small at birth and birth is rapid, specific changes in the behaviour of females occur around the time of birth, and a specific birth position is adopted. 5. The time at which marsupial young leave the pouch cannot be equated with birth in eutherians, because of the considerable variations in the type of pouch and in patterns of parental care. From a consideration of the functional development of the young in the pouch, it is suggested that the nearest equivalent to eutherian birth is the time at which the marsupial young achieves homeostasis, when it is well furred and endothermic. 6. Maternal behaviour is influenced by the type of pouch. In all species, the mother keeps the young and the pouch clean by licking, especially when the young are wholly within the pouch or attached to the abdomen. In species with reduced pouches where young are left in a nest at an early stage of development, maternal behaviour includes nest building, defence, and retrieving and carrying the young. These functions are performed by the pouch itself in species with large deep pouches in which the young is carried for a much larger part of its development, and other specific maternal behaviours are infrequent. 7. The patterns of parental care are reviewed over all families of marsupial. Not all members of a family have the same pattern of parental care, which appears to be influenced by many factors including body size, type of pouch, diet, litter size and other aspects of life history strategy. 8. Three patterns of parental care are distinguished: (A) As soon as young begin to release the teat they are no longer carried by the mother, and are left in a nest when still barely furred, ectothermic and before the eyes open. This pattern is found in species with large litter size and a pouch reduced or absent, e.g. some Dasyuridae and some Didelphidae. (B) Young remain in the pouch after they begin to release the teat but are left in a nest, at a later stage of development than in A, when well furred, endothermic and with eyes open. After first pouch exit, there is generally a period when young return to the pouch from time to time. This pattern is found in species with well developed pouches and litters of I or > 1 e.g. Peramelidae, some Didelphidae. (C) Young remain in the pouch after they begin to release the teat. At first pouch exit, the young is well furred and endothermic, and leaves the pouch only for brief periods, gradually spending more time out until permanent pouch exit. It is not usually left in a nest. This pattern is found in species with well developed pouches and litters of one, e.g. Macropodidae. 9. Pattern A is seen particularly in the smaller species in any family, where large litter size means that by the time young release the teat, the litter is about 50% of maternal body weight and a considerable burden. In such species, young are left in a nest as soon as possible. In larger species with patterns B or C, litter size is smaller, and by the time they are no longer carried by the female, the litter is still only 20% of maternal weight. 10. Whatever the pattern of parental care, mortality from birth to permanent pouch exit is not unusually high in marsupials in comparison with eutherians. 11. I suggest that the presence of the pouch and the associated patterns of parental care are important determinants of social organization in marsupials. For much of the period of dependence, the young is small, attached to a teat or in a pouch. The male can make little contribution to parental care, and there is little room for improvement in the care of young in complex social groups. In most species, the female on her own is sufficient caretaker. The male is most likely to increase his own biological fitness by going off to mate again and leaving the female to raise his offspring. 12. Patterns of energy expenditure on offspring by female marsupials were assessed throughout the development of young. Investment before birth was assessed by weight of the neonate, during development by growth rate and the time for which the young was carried (pouch life), and total investment by weight of young at weaning and time from birth to weaning. Regression of measures of investment against maternal body weight allowed comparison of investment in animals of different size. 13. Investment in young before birth is very small. Neonatal marsupials range in size from 0·01 to 1 g, and the largest is less than 0·2 % of the size of the mother. Larger mothers produce larger young which are smaller relative to the mother than are the young of smaller species. Individual young in the family Dasyuridae are particularly small. 14. Growth rates in g/d were calculated over the period from permanent pouch exit to weaning. There is a very close correlation between growth rate and maternal body weight - that of litters increases as the 0·78 power of body weight. During this period the growth rate of individuals is comparable with that of eutherian young during lactation, and in litters it is higher still, suggesting that the difference in patterns of growth are not due to the lower metabolic rate of marsupials. As in eutherians there is considerable individual variation in growth rate; it is very high in litters of small dasyurids, which have individual rates comparable to those of larger species. Young of the family Peramelidae grow and develop rapidly; those of the arboreal folivore Phascolarctos do both slowly. I 5. Pouch life, the period for which the young is carried by the mother, increases with body size; as expected, species with pattern A parental care have shorter pouch lives than species of the same size with patterns B or C, reflecting the early stage of development at which young are left in the nest in pattern A. 16. Time from birth to weaning is also longer in larger species. There is a close relationship of age at weaning with maternal weight, with some significant exceptions. For their size, the family Peramelidae have a very short time from birth to weaning, and the time from pouch exit to weaning is particularly short. Many arboreal species have longer periods of dependence than expected from their size. 17. The weight at weaning of individual young is closely related to MBW0·71, but the weight of one young relative to maternal body weight shows no trend with size, and ranges from 25–61 %, with a mean of 42 %. 18. Parental Investment, as measured by the function Wt. of litter at weaning × 100/MBW, decreases with increasing size of mother as MBW0·28. The highest levels of investment are found in very small species. In many small species of the family Dasyuridae, a litter at weaning is > 300% MBW. By contrast, investment in the family Peramelidae is low - at weaning a litter of three is about 50% MBW, comparable with investment in a single young of the family Macropodidae. 19. The evolution of patterns of parental care and investment appears to follow three main lines: (1) Species with large litter size, high levels of investment in litters and in individual young. Investment is directed to growth and not to carrying the young in the pouch, since young are left in a nest at an early stage. Typical of this group is the family Dasyuridae, in which many species make few reproductive attempts per year. (2) Species with litters of more than one, low levels of investment in litters and in individuals, but rapid growth and development of young. Because of the small relative size of young they are carried in the pouch for a large part of the period from birth to weaning. This pattern is shown by the family Peramelidae, and seen as an adaptation to rapid and repeated reproduction in an environment with an extended favourable season. (3) Species with small litter size, lower total investment, but investment in individual young is not low, and investment in carrying young to an advanced stage of development is high. Patterns of this type are found in the Diprotodonta, with extreme development in the Macropodidae. 20. Many of the measures of investment have been expressed as a power function of maternal body weight. The exponents of body weight in these functions are such as to suggest that an important underlying variable is metabolic rate. 21. It has been suggested elsewhere that the marsupial mode of reproduction evolved as an adaptation to environmental uncertainty, in that it allows a reproductive attempt to be abandoned at any time much more readily than in eutherians, thereby increasing the likelihood that a female will survive to reproduce again. I consider this suggestion in the light of patterns of parental investment. For small, short-lived species, any reproductive attempt represents a substantial part of its lifetime reproductive output. 我国1998~1999年流行的婴幼儿腹泻轮状病毒的分型研究   总被引:40,自引:1,他引:39  
轮状病毒是世界范围内引起婴幼儿腹泻的主要病原。根据病毒外壳蛋白VP4和VP7抗原性的不同可区分为不同型:P(VP4,protease sensitive)型和G(VP7,glycoprotein)型。1998-1999年在中国8个城市(长春、秦皇岛、北京、杭州、福州、广州、成都、昆明)采集了急性腹泻患儿的1093份非细菌性腹泻粪便标本,先进行A组轮状病毒(HRV)的筛选,其中阳性标本433份(39.6%),电泳型长型占优势(96%)。对HRV标本,再利用血清型特异的MAbELISA和/或RT-PCR进行G分型。结果表明,在1998-1999年,在上述8城市非细菌性腹泻行季节,以HRV G1型为主要流行株,占阳性的83.4%,其次为G3(12.0%)、G4(3.5%)和G2(3.2%)。此外,有3份(0.7%)HRV标本未能分型,12(2.8%)份标本为混合感染,还结合1982-1996年全国12个地区1382份HRV标本的分型资料,分析了我国HVR G血清型的流行规律。实验中又抽样选取了124份GHRV标本,用RT-PCR进行P分型,其中P[8]型76份(61.3%),P[4]型14份(11.3%),P[6]型12份(9.7%),P[9]型8份(6.4%)。另外15份(12.1%)未能分出P型,有待进一步检定,实验中HRV分离株除了觉见的P[8]G1(51.4%)、P[4]G2(4.6%)毒株外,还检测到P[8]G3(11.0%)、P[8]G4(6.4%) 和其它较少见的病毒型。以上结果为我国轮状病毒疫苗的应用和开发提供了较系统、清晰的流行病学背景资料。  相似文献

Monoclonal antibody (MAb) G10 labels a single high mol. wt. (HMW) band on Western blots of microtubule preparations from 2 day old rat brain. The G10 antigen is thermolabile and co-migrates with microtubule-associated protein (MAP)1 from young rat brain on low percentage (5%) polyacrylamide-SDS gels. The G10 antigen decreases by about five times from birth to adulthood in the rat cerebellum. The same single band is labelled on Western blots of homogenates of whole neonatal rat brain but no labelling is found using neonatal or adult kidney, lung or liver. We have therefore identified a brain-specific MAP1, designated MAP1(x). Immunofluorescence microscopy using MAb G10 on parasagittal sections of rat cerebella shows labelling of the newly formed molecular layer in 6 day old rats. Only a narrow band close to the pial surface is labelled in 18 day old animals, which disappears in the adult. Labelling of the cerebellar white matter found in young rats also disappears. Neurones but not flat cells in cerebellar cultures label with MAb G10. All staining patterns are consistent with an axonal distribution of the antigen. MAP1(x) may be part of a developmentally regulated microtubule structure.  相似文献

Summary Ontogenesis of gastrin cells was studied in the pyloroduodenal mucosa of the mouse using anti-human G17 serum, R-1301, and anti-human G34(1–15) serum, R-2703. R-1301-immunostained cells first appeared in the pyloric mucosa of 14-day-old fetuses. Cells stained with both R-1301 and R-2703 appeared immediately after birth, and gradually increased in number to the adult level. Most R-1301-reactive cells were also reactive to R-2703, whereas some cells that reacted with R-1301 exhibited very weak or no reaction with R-2703. The discrepancy between these two immunoreactivities is discussed.In the duodenum, a considerable number of R-1301-reactive cells were present from the perinatal stage and through out adult development. A few R-2703-reactive cells were seen in the duodenum of young mice but not of the adult.  相似文献
