In the course of monographic work in Myrtaceae it has become evident thatEugenia prismatica cannot be accommodated within any existing genus in the family. Therefore, a new genus,Curitiba, is described to contain it and the new combinationCuritiba prismatica is made.Curitiba is diagnosed by a combination of 4-angled hypanthia and fruits, ovules radiating from a central protruding placenta, and seed coats with wavy rows of papillae. A key is provided to distinguishCuritiba from the Caribbean and Mesoamerican genusMosiera, where the species also had been placed before this transfer, and from other 4-merous genera in Brazil of subtribe Myrtinae. In the Atlantic Forest of Brazil where the family Myrtaceae is one of the most species rich and ecologically important plant families, the discovery ofCuritiba reveals a unique evolutionary lineage, highlights the endemism present in the Atlantic Forest, and underscores, the urgent need for conservation of this rapidly disappearing and highly endangered biome.  相似文献

Abstract

Four small moss families found in Malawi are reviewed, and keys are provided to all taxa known in Malawi (and usually to all known in Africa). Regmatodontaceae is shown to contain only one species in Africa, but both known species are keyed. Rhachitheciaceae, contains three genera in Africa (which are keyed), only one of which occurs in Malawi, and for this genus a key is provided for all three African species. Rhacocarpaceae contains only two species in Africa, which are keyed, only one of which is known from Malawi. Rhizogoniaceae contains two genera and three species in Africa.  相似文献

Summary

A key to the British species of the genera Aureoboletus, Boletinus, Gyroporus, Phylloporus, Porphyrellus, Pulveroboletus, Strobilomyces and Uloporus based on habitat, microscopic and macroscopic features is discussed. Four species as yet unrecorded from the British Isles, Boletinus asiaticus, Xerocomus amarellus, Boletus vaccinus, Boletus badiorufus and seven species which could possibly be sought in one of these genera are included in the discussion for completeness; the latter are also included in the key.  相似文献

A new genus and species, Olemehlia krali n. g. & n. sp. (Coleoptera: Ripiphoridae: Ripidiinae), is described from Baltic amber. The newly described genus is compared with all known fossil and extant closely related genera of the subfamily Ripidiinae. It is characterised by the following combination of characters: antennae consisting of 10 antennomeres, with scape, pedicel, and antennomere 3 simple and antennomeres 4–10 uniflabellate, mouthparts reduced to a small single unpaired tubercle, postocular ommatidia absent, pronotum trapezoid without grooves or impressions, elytra without white apical spots, tarsal formula 5–5–4, hind tarsomere I shorter than three remaining combined. Diversity of Ripiphoridae in Baltic amber is discussed; key to Ripidiinae genera from Baltic amber is provided.  相似文献

A synopsis of the genus Cohniella is presented with nomenclatural updates with a discusion of diagnostic features and biogeographical data. Thirteen species and one natural hybrid are recognized. Two new species, Cohniella pendula and Cohniella biorbicularis, are described and illustrated. The following four new combinations are proposed: Cohniella binotii, Cohniella brachyphylla, Cohniella cepula, and Cohniella longifolia. Lectotypes are selected for Oncidium subulifolium, Oncidium helicanthum, Oncidium humboldtii, Oncidium jonesianum var. phaeanthum, Oncidium cepula, and Oncidium wittii. We also propose an amended lectotype for Epidendrum cebolleta and several epitypifications and new synonyms. A key to the genera of the Trichocentrum complex is presented (Appendix) as well as keys to the species of Cohniella.  相似文献

Existing classifications of Tenebrionidae are reviewed briefly. The inclusion of the families Alleculidae, Lagriidae, and Nilionidae in Tenebrionidae is confirmed. The splitting off from this complex of a family, Tentyriidae, by Doyen is discussed and rejected. Various taxa which had been included in Tenebrionidae are excluded, amongst which Syrphetodes, Brouniphylax, Exohadrus, Arthopus, Cotulades, Docalis, and Latometus (=Elascus) have not previously been formally excluded. A new family, Archeocrypticidae, is established and defined briefly for Archeocrypticus, Sivacrypticus, and Enneboeus.

Data from matrices based on adult and larval characters comparing Tenebrionidae with most other families of Tenebrionoidea (=Heteromera) are presented for derived characters in common, and for overall similarity. The families most closely related to Tenebrionidae according to these data are Zopheridae, Chalcodryidae, Merycidae, Archeocrypticidae, Synchroidae, Colydiidae, and Monommatidae; none is very close to Tenebrionidae, which has had a long independent history.

Characters of the subfamilies recognised are tabulated, and interpreted in a phylo‐genetic dendrogram. Phylogeny is discussed in relation to adaptive changes in the biology of the various subfamilies, which are Zolodininae new subfamily, Pimeliinae new sense (including Tentyriinae), Toxicinae new sense, Phrenapatinae new sense (including Archeoglenini new tribe), Diaperinae new sense, Gnathidiinae, Tenebrioninae new sense, Alleculinae, Nilioninae, Lagriinae new sense, Cossyphinae, and Cossyphodinae new status.

Biology, economic importance, copulation, orientation of the aedeagus, and distribution are discussed briefly.

Definitions of the family and subfamilies and a key to subfamilies are given, and keys to tribes are included for the smaller subfamilies. The previously unknown larvae of the genera Zolodinus, Menimus, Archeoglenes, Lepispilus, and Nyctoporis are described in detail. Pupae of Zolodinus and Nyctoporis are described. Keys to larvae include many other genera which were hitherto unknown or poorly known.  相似文献

Trattinnickia is closely related toDacryodes and is transferred to the tribe Canarieae. Additional characters are proposed to supplement the weak characters that traditionally have been used to separateCrepidospermum andTetragastris fromProtium. The assumed “intermediate” genusParaprotium is shown to be an unnatural assemblage and is here merged withProtium. This revised concept of generic limits in the Neotropical Protieae and Canarieae leads to the following new combinations:Tetragastris occhionii (Rizzini) Daly,Protium pilosum (Cuatrec.) Daly,Protium nitidifolium (Cuatrec.) Daly,Protium vestitum (Cuatrec.) Daly, andDacryodes cuspidata (Cuatrec.) Daly. A key to the Neotropical genera of Burseraceae is provided.  相似文献

Mariannaea aquaticola sp. nov. is described, illustrated, and compared with closely related taxa. Phylogenetic analysis of rDNA ITS and 28S sequences show that Mariannaea aquaticola has affinity with Nectriaceae, which is in agreement with other Mariannaea species. Other morphologically similar genera such as Verticillium and Clonostachys are shown to be phylogenetically distant to Mariannaea. The generic concept of Mariannaea is discussed, and the affinity to Nectriaceous teleomorphs is suggested as additional generic character. A key to Mariannaea species is provided.  相似文献

Presently the only keys available for identification of genera of Anthonomini are limited to those of the United States of America and Canada. A dichotomous key is presented to identify all genera of Mexican and Central American Anthonomini. Previous keys do not include the genera Achia, Botanebius, Loncophorus, Loncophorellus and Melexerus. A brief synopsis is given for each genus and photographs of representative species are included.  相似文献
