Neue labdan- und pimaren-derivate aus Palafoxia rosea

The investigation ofPalafoxia rosea afforded in addition to known compounds five new labdane derivatives and five pimarene derivatives. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic situation of the genus is discussed briefly.     

Neue labdan-derivate und andere inhaltsstoffe aus Relhania acerosa

The investigation of Relhania acerosa afforded, in addition to known compounds, three new labdane derivatives, two of which are esterified with succinic acid and one which has an anomalous carbon skeleton. Furthermore, several new aromatic compounds are isolated, which are most probably degradated thymol derivatives. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. The stereochemistry of one of the new labdanes has been established by a partial synthesis. The chemotaxonomic situation is briefly discussed.     

Cannabigerol-ähnliche verbindungen aus Helichrysum umbraculigerum

The investigation of a further South African Helichrysum species afforded eleven resorcinol derivatives, most of them closely related to cannabigerol and the corresponding acid, both also being present in the aerial parts of H. umbraculigerum. Furthermore a new geranyl chalcone is present. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The occurrence of the cannabigerol-like compounds in a composite is surprising. Probably, some of these compounds are formed by the combination of three different biogenetic pathways.     

Neue acetylenverbindungen aus chrysothamnus parryl

The investigation of Chrysothamnus parryi afforded, in addition to known compounds, several new matricaria ester derivatives. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. Furthermore, a naphthol derivative was isolated. Chemotaxonomic aspects are discussed briefly.     

Neue labdan-derivate aus Aristeguietia buddleaefolia

The aerial parts of Aristeguietia buddleaefolia afforded, in addition to known compounds, three new diterpenes, all being 12, 13-E-abienol derivatives. A further diterpene turned out to be jhanidiol-18-O-acetate, isolated earlier from an Ageratina species. Furthermore two derivatives of hydroxy dihydroconiferyl alcohol are present. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations.     

A daucanolide further farnesene derivatives from Ageratum fastigiatum

A reinvestigation of Ageratum fastigiatum afforded, in addition to known compounds, several new farnesene derivatives including some tetrahydropyrane derivatives. Furthermore a sesquiterpene lactone derived from daucane and a minor derivative of the ent-labdanes isolated previously were isolated. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods.     

Neue phloroglucin-derivate aus Helichrysum natalitium und Helichrysum bellum

Helichrysum natalitium afforded four new phloroglucinol derivatives, while from H. bellum two further compounds of this type have been isolated; H. platypterum yielded two known derivatives. The new structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomical situation is briefly discussed.     

Eudesmane derivatives from Verbesina species

The investigation of seven Verbesina species afforded, in addition to known compounds, several new eudesmane and germacrane derivatives, all bearing a cinnamate or derivatives as residue. Furthermore, a new bisabolene aldehyde and two acetophenone derivatives were isolated. The structures were elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic situation is discussed briefly.     

Cuauthemone sesquiterpenoids from Blumea alata

The investigation of five Blumea species afforded, in addition to known compounds, several cuauthemone derivatives, most of them being 7,11-epoxides, some thymol derivatives, an eremophilane epoxide and a himachalane diol. From Pterocaulon virgatum a further himachalane derivative was isolated. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and in part by partial synthesis.     

Neue chalkon-derivate aus südafrikanischen Helichrysum-arten

The investigation of two South African Helichrysum species afforded in addition to known compounds two new chalcone derivatives, four related dihydrochalcones,5,7,8-trimethoxyflavone and 5-methoxy-7,8-methylenedioxyflavone. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic situation in the large genus Helichrysum is discussed, in the light of these results.     

Neue sesqui- und diterpene aus Bedfordia salicina

An Australian member of the tribe Senecioneae, Bedfordia salicina, contains besides known compounds new dimeric eremophilenolides, new kolevane derivatives, a kaurenic acid and several further sesquiterpenes, most of them related to xanthatine. The structures are elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic aspects of these findings are discussed briefly.     

Neue sesquiterpene,triterpene, flavanone und andere aromatische verbindungen aus Flourensia heterolepis

The investigation of a further Flourensia species afforded in addition to already known compounds 12 new sesquiterpene acids isolated as their methyl esters, a new eudesmane diol, four lupane derivatives and two flavanones, two cinnamic acid derivatives, also isolated as methyl esters and a ketone. The structures are elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. Several of the compounds isolated are more or less similar to those isolated from other Flourensia species; the considerable amounts of eudesmanes, however, are unusual. The overall picture of the genus is still relatively uniform. Close relationships to Helianthella are obvious, while to Helianthus, placed in the same subtribe, no clear relations are visible.     

β-Isocomen,ein neues sesquiterpen aus Berkheya-arten

The investigation of several Berkheya species afforded in addition to already known compounds three unusual sesquiterpene hydrocarbons. Together with modhephene and isocomene, a new one is present, its structure being elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. All 18 species investigated contain the typical thiophene derivatives, isolated earlier; the patterns of compounds present divide the species into two groups.     

Germacranolides from Perymenium klattianum and Perymeniopsis ovalifolia

The aerial parts of Perymenium klattianum afforded, in addition to kaurane and beyerane derivatives, three germacranolides, two of them isolated for the first time. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations, which in part gave unusual products. Perymeniopsis ovalifolia gave known compounds only.     

New germacranolides,guaianolides and rearranged Guaianolides from Lasiolaena santosii

The aerial parts of L. santosii afforded three new diterpenes, a phenylpropanol, three eudesmane derivatives, three germacranolides, seventeen guaianolides and four rearranged guaianolides of a, so far, unknown type. Furthermore, several known compounds were isolated. The structures of the new compounds, the separations of which caused difficulties, were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic situation is discussed briefly.     

Sesquiterpenes from three Senecio species

Three succulent Senecio species afforded, in addition to known compounds, two further bisabolene derivatives, a norsesquiterpene and a diol related to β-caryophyllene alcohol, which, however, has a different stereochemistry. Structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic relevance of the results is discussed briefly.     

Sesquiterpene and diterpene derivatives from Solidago species

The investigation of four Solidago species afforded, in addition to known compounds, four new caryophyllene derivatives, two eudesmanes, two abietanes, a clerodane, two labdanes, three kauranes and an anol angelate. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. While the diterpenes isolated are widespread in the genus Solidago, the sesquiterpenes have not been obtained before from any species. The overall picture of the large genus, however, is relatively uniform.     

8-Oxo-α-selinen und neue scopoletin-derivate aus Conyza-arten

The investigation of three South African and a North American Conyza species afforded, in addition to known compounds, a new eudesmane ketone and five new scopoletin derivatives. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. Two of the scopoletin enol ethers have very unusual structures. While most of the Conyza species investigated so far contain typical C₁₀-acetylenes, also present in related genera, there are some with different chemistry. The relationship of the genus to Aster and Erigeron, however, is clearly indicated.     

Types of sesquiterpenes from Artemisia douglasiana

Artemisia douglasiana afforded, in addition to known compounds, two new C₁₄-acetylenes, five longipinene derivatives, three nerolidol derivatives, a lactone and a ketone with a new carbon skeleton and lavendulol-2-methylbutyrate. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The configurations of several oxo longipinene-7, 9-di- and 7, 8, 9-triesters isolated previously were corrected. The biogenesis of the new lactones is discussed briefly.     

Neue phloroglucin-derivate aus Leontonyx-arten sowie weitere verbindungen aus vertretern der tribus inuleae

The investigation of several South African species of the tribe Inuleae afforded in addition to known compounds 16 new constituents. From Leontonyx a group of 9 new phloroglucinol derivatives, from Stoebe species two new p-hydroxyacetophenone, two thymol and two coumaric acid derivatives and from Relhania a new euparine-derivative were isolated. The structures are elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods. The chemotaxonomic aspects are discussed briefly. The phloroglucinol derivatives, which in part are derived from geraniol, seem to be especially characteristic.
