Septal micropores or plasmadesmal canals have been observed in two species of the lipomycetaceous genus Zygozyma. The presence of these canals is considered as further evidence for the connexion between the Lipomycetaceae and the Dipodascaceae. The genus Zygozyma has been emended.  相似文献

A morphological study of eight species of Paralichthys, two species of Hippoglossina, and Lioglossina tetrophthalma, has revealed head lateral-line canal topography differences of taxonomic value. In species of Paralichthys, segment of the supraorbital canal in nasale of the blind side is connected with other canals and canaliculi are ramified, whereas in species of Hippoglossina this segment is not connected and canaliculi are not ramified. These different character states corroborate the generic distinction between Paralichthys and Hippoglossina. The connection of the supraorbital canal in nasale of the blind side with other canals and ramified canaliculi found in L. tetrophthalma and P. oblongus are against regarding them as Hippoglossina species. It appears necessary to restore the monotypic genus Lioglossina and to place P. oblongus in the genus Paralichthys until new morphological or molecular data are obtained. Paralichthys species vary in the degree of ramification of canaliculi, presence or absence of infraorbital canal segment in the lacrimale of the ocular side and posterior line of CST. Differences in lateral-line canal topography of H. macrops and H. bollmani were not found.  相似文献

The South African marine alga Amphithallia crassiuscula, previously subsumed in the widely reported Synarthrophyton patena, is here re-described as a distinct species and genus. Thalli grow as obligate epiphytes on Gelidium capense in the upper sublittoral zone (while S. patena grows on Ballia callitricha). Gametophytes are monoecious with four-celled carpogonial branches and sterile cells are borne on supporting cells (dioecious or hermaphroditic with two or three-celled carpogonial branches and sterile cells borne on hypogynous cells in Synarthrophyton). Postfertilization stages involve a connecting filament linking the carpogonium to several putative auxiliary cells, demonstrating a non-procarpic condition with apparent absence of a fusion cell. Gonimoblast filaments develop at the level of basal cells of carpogonial branches. Spermatangial mother cells remain either unbranched (cutting off spermatangia only) or develop dendroid (branched) filaments with terminal spermatangia (as in Synarthrophyton). Multiporate conceptacles develop straight pore canals lined by non-differentiated cells (conical canals with differentiated pore cells along the base in Synarthrophyton). The here described pre- and post-fertilization characters are new for the order Corallinales motivating the establishment of the new genus Amphithallia.  相似文献

Age variation of radial plates of perittocrinids and aberrant cups of the hybocrinid genus Hoplocrinus from the Middle Ordovician of the St-Petersburg region are examined. Three patterns for the development of folds on the radial plates of perittocrinids are recognized. The differences between patterns are of species level. It is proposed here that the folded structures of perittocrinids (as well as the pore-structures of other pelmatozoans) were not only used for respiration, but also very likely for feeding. Tetracionocrinus transitor is a young individual of a species of the genus Perittocrinus or a paedomorphic species of this genus. The study of aberrant cups of Hoplocrinus suggests that its ancestor could have had biserial arms. Phylogenetic implications of this interpretation are discussed, and homologies within the phylum Echinodermata, reassessed. The three-armed genus Baerocrinus may be an aberrant form of a species of the genus Hoplocrinus.  相似文献

Abstract A new fossil genus and species of the family Mesosciophilidae, Huaxiasciophilites jingxiensis gen. et sp. nov. is described. The fossils of the new genus and species were collected from the Early Cretaceous Lushangfen Formation (K41 1) of Jingxi basin of Beijing China. The new genus is established based on the following characters: that Sc short, not exceed the forking of R and Rs, with branches; r‐m longer than basal part of Rs; Rs very thick and undee; and radial cell very short. The phylogenetic tree of Mesosciophilidae superimposed on the geological time scale was also analyzed. The holotype is deposited in the Beijing Forestry University.  相似文献

Bathycongrus parviporus sp. nova is described from specimens collected in the South China Sea, in the coastal waters of central Vietnam. By its characters (short snout, elongate-oval vomerine tooth patch with numerous small teeth of approximately the same size, slender relatively short tail, and residual leptocephalic pigmentation as a series of small melanophores just below lateral line in adults), the species belongs to the group of species of this genus represented by B. bleekeri, B. trimaculatus, and B. unimaculatus in the western part of the Pacific Ocean and B. dubius in the western Atlantic Ocean but differs in small infraorbital pores which are enlarged in all known species of the genus Bathycongrus. By the number of preanal pores, the new species is similar to B. bleekeri from Philippine waters but differs from it in a higher number of vertebrae (120–122), in more numerous rows of teeth on the premaxilloethmoid, in more number of branchiostegal rays (9–10), a shorter head, and in some other proportions of head and body. Topography of canals and pores of the cephalic seismosensory system of B. parviporus sp. nova is described. Morphometric and osteological characters for placing this species in the genus Bathycongrus are noted.  相似文献

Copaifera langsdorffii Desf., popularly known as copaíba, is an oleoresin-producing tree has been overexploited in Brazil by the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and varnish industries. Despite the long history of the use of this species, the structural knowledge on the resin-producing sites remains inadequate and is limited to the trunk. The aim of this study was to describe the origin, structure and developmental features of secretory spaces present in shoot and root wood of C. langsdorffii, based on the usual techniques of wood anatomy studies. Both root and shoot wood present secretory canals distributed along the marginal parenchyma bands which delimit growth layers. Secretory canals are constituted by a locally biseriate epithelium and lume that contains terpenes. They are arisen in the cambial zone from fusiform cambial initial cells and, eventually, ray initials. The origin of lumen is schizogenous. The epithelial cells have meristematic potential and are responsible for the locally biseriate epithelium. Mature secretory canals are wider and are separated between themselves only by a row of radial cells. The fusion of these adjacent secretory canals is frequent and results from the radial cell collapse. The finding of an interconnected system of resin canals in C. langsdorffii might be of value in terms of sustainable extraction of the resin and realistically assess its sustainable harvest potential.  相似文献

Picea eichhornii n. sp. is described from anatomically preserved seed cones. The fossils are from the Early Oligocene Jansen Creek Member of the Makah Fm. which is exposed along the northern shore of the Olympic Peninsula, Washington. The cones are at least 5.5 cm long and up to 3.5 cm in diameter. The cone axis is 4–6 mm in diameter and contains a pith made up of thick-walled parenchyma cells. Resin canals occur in a single ring in the secondary xylem in some specimens but are absent in others. The cortex is mostly parenchymatous and contains numerous large axial resin canals that branch to supply the bract and scale. Vascular traces to each scale and its subtending bract diverge separately from the vascular cylinder of the cone axis. The bract is tongue-shaped and keeled at its base. It is 5 mm wide and up to 9 mm long. The bract trace fades out before entering the bract base while two resin canals extend into the bract base. The ovuliferous scale is about 2.3 cm long and has a thin, probably papery, apex. Resin canals of the scale occur abaxial to the vascular tissue in the scale base, but some bend around the margins of the vascular strand to become adaxial outward. About 20 resin canals occur in the abaxial scale sclerenchyma, and this is the main anatomical feature that distinguishes these cones as a new species. There are less than 14 such canals in cones in a reference collection of 15 modern species and in the two fossil species known from anatomically preserved material. While the new species adds to our knowledge of the diversity of Cenozoic Picea, its affinities within the genus remain undetermined.  相似文献

The pollen organ Feraxotheca gen. n. is described from Pennsylvanian age coal balls from the Lewis Creek, Kentucky, locality. The fructifications consist of bilaterally symmetrical synangia composed of a basal pad supporting elongate sporangia that are laterally appressed for the entire length of the sporangial cavities. Sporangial tips extend over the center of the synangium and delimit a small open area, while the bases arise from a parenchymatous cushion that is bounded by short tracheid-like cells. Each synangium is borne on the surface of an expanded pinna tip and is surrounded by a small amount of laminar tissue that envelopes the base of the synangium. Ultimate pinnae are rectangular in transverse section, possess an elliptical vascular bundle surrounded by canals containing a yellow froth-like substance, and have a cortex of elongate cells that radiate from the center of the axis. Sporangia contain small (40–64 μm), radial, trilete spores ornamented by regularly spaced coni or blunt tipped grana. Feraxotheca is compared with the compression genus Crossotheca and some new ideas are advanced concerning the morphology of this compression genus. The obvious differences between Feraxotheca and other lyginopterid pollen organs strongly suggests that the Lyginopteridaceae, as it is currently interpreted, is an unnatural family.  相似文献

The Mesozoic megaspore Trileites pedinacron has been studied by transmission electron microscopy. The wall consists of one relatively thick layer (perine) which is perforated by radial tubes. This wall structure is compared with similar wall patterns of the zoosporangia of marine planctonic algae (Tasmanites, Pleurozonaria, Pachysphaera). Essential differences are pointed out. With T. pedinacron as type species a new form genus is established: Tasmanitriletes.  相似文献

A new species ofChimaera is described from three specimens collected from deep water fishing grounds off the North Island of New Zealand at depths ranging from 327–1020 m. This species is distinguished from all other members of the genus by gray coloration with chocolate brown reticulations and spots covering the body and fins, as well as additional external features such as rounded pelvic fins, first dorsal fin with distinct white margin, preopercular and oral lateral line canals sharing a common branch, and morphology of pelvic claspers in males bifid, the distal 1/3 divided, with pale colored fleshy, distal lobes. Comparisons are made toC. monstrosa andC. owstoni, the two most similar species in the genus. this represents the first species ofChimaera to be described from New Zealand.  相似文献

Christensenia gen. nov., C. blocki sp. nov., is described from Signy Island, South Orkney Islands, maritime Antarctic. The new species is identical with specimens that Stephenson (1932) determined as Marionina georgiana (Michaelsen, 1888), but differs from the type material of M. georgiana. The species M. georgiana (Michaelsen, 1888) is also placed in the new genus Christensenia, the main characteristics of which are: possession of sigmoid setae, and the presence of large numbers of small, hyaline, stick-like, anucleate lymphocytes. No other types of lymphocyte are observed. Oesophageal appendages and intestinal diverticulae are absent. Dorsal vessel originates in the clitellar region; blood is colourless. The anteseptal part of the nephridium consists of the funnel and a few canals, with the efferent duct arising postero-ventrally. Spermathecae are without diverticulae, entally connecting with the oesophagus. The known distribution of the genus is currently limited to terrestrial habitats in the sub- and maritime Antarctic. Summary The three-dimensional organization of the canal system in two sponge species, Petrosia ficiformis and Chondrosia reniformis, was studied using corrosion casts. Casts were made of live animals, in situ, and canal replicas were analzyed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In P. ficiformis the incurrent system consists of a superficial canal network giving rise to large radial canals, which ramify and anastomosize forming an internal web. Excurrent canals are arranged into modular ramified systems radiating from atrial cavities opening to the exterior. Main excurrent canals run at various depths within the sponge, even through the superficial incurrent network. Both incurrent and excurrent canal replicas show smooth, blind-ending capillaries. Some large incurrent canals merge with excurrent ones, thus bypassing choanocyte chambers. In C. reniformis there is a cortical collagen layer crossed by three-like incurrent canals, the twigs of which communicate with groups of inhalant pores. The stems of tree-like canals penetrate into the sponge medulla where they ramify and anastomosize to form a web. Main excurrent canals arise from large cloacal ducts leading to the oscular openings. They give rise to a sequence of branches intersecting the incurrent web. Both incurrent and excurrent canals have sharp, blind-ending capillaries. Morphometric data functions show that diameter scaling in canal branches is exponential in Petrosia and linear in Chondrosia. Structural differences and homologies between the two species are discussed.  相似文献

In this study a new species of Neralsia is described, N. incompleta n. sp. The radial cell shape allows to distinguish it clearly from the rest of species of the genus. The distribution of Neralsia incompleta n. sp. is probably the entire American continent, having been collected from Canada to Paraguay. In spite of its abundance, the associated biology is unknown, although it should be related with parasitism of Diptera Cyclorrhapha.  相似文献

The new species Samariscus leopardus is described from one specimen caught at a depth of 159 m in the Indian Ocean, 11°22′ S, 61°42′ E. The species is easily distinguishable from the remaining species of the genus from a set of the following characteristics: the absence of a lateral line on both sides of the body, a short ventral fin, 42 vertebrae (9 trunk and 33 caudal), 5 rays of pectoral fin, and spotted coloration. Other morphological specific features, including topography of sensory canals of the head, are described.  相似文献

Abstract: The rudist bivalve genus Gorjanovicia Pol?ak, 1967 from Istria, Croatia, is currently known from the Coniacian/Maastrichtian of the peri‐Adriatic and Balkan regions and includes 23 nominal species, defined mainly on shell ornamentation and radial bands. However, a re‐appraisal of ‘Radiolitesendrissi Boehm, 1927 shows the type species of the genus Gorjanovicia, G. costata Pol?ak, 1967, to be a junior synonym of Boehm’s species, which thus takes priority as the type species of Gorjanovicia. Our revision of the 24 species thus described from the literature is based on analysis of a set of 21 characters that include the dimensions, shape and ornamentation of the right valve. Sixteen variables are defined from combinations of these 21 characters and subjected to multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) and Hill and Smith analysis (HSA), with cluster analysis, which has allowed us to distinguish three taxonomic groups, each defined by a key species: Gorjanovicia endrissi (Boehm), G. ugarensis Sli?kovi? and G. kvarneri Pol?ak. Cluster analysis identifies three groups of associated variables and suggests that a limited number of characters may be used to recognize the foregoing three taxonomic entities. MCA performed on four variables (the shapes of the anterior radial band, posterior radial band and interband and the width of the anterior band relative to the posterior band) reveals the same three taxonomic groups as in the MCA based on 16 variables. We conclude that the four variables in question may thus be used as specific diagnostic characters and that the genus Gorjanovicia is thereby represented by just three species, Gorjanovicia endrissi, G. ugarensis and G. kvarneri, instead of the 24 described in the literature. Specific assemblages from the peri‐Adriatic, pre‐Apulian and Western Pontides regions are nearly identical, a pattern that suggests free faunal exchanges within the distributional area of the genus Gorjanovicia. The palaeobiogeographical distribution of species corresponds with a relatively narrow palaeolatitudinal range in the subtropical portion of the eastern Mediterranean Tethys.  相似文献
