Ring-width chronologies of Picea abies (L.) Karst. from ten sites in the Tatra Mountains, Poland, were developed to explore growth/climate responses in stands along an altitudinal gradient ranging from 839 to 1468 m a.s.l. There were positive relationships between current-year radial growth and mean monthly temperatures in March, April, June and July, but with increasing elevation, the strength of this correlation declined for March–April and increased for June–July temperatures. The mean monthly temperature in October of the previous year positively influenced radial growth of trees at all sites. Lower mean temperatures in January negatively affected growth of trees at the high-elevation sites. Trees at the low-elevation sites responded positively to a warm early spring, whereas trees at the high-elevation sites showed positive growth responses to higher summer temperatures. Growth of trees at the high-elevation sites was better explained by the temperature regime than was growth at the lower-elevation sites. Therefore, it is likely that these sites may be particularly sensitive to potential effects of temperature change.  相似文献

Considerable knowledge exists about the effect of aluminium (Al) on root vitality, but whether elevated levels of Al affect soil microorganisms is largely unknown. We thus compared soils from Al-treated and control plots of a field experiment with respect to microbial and chemical parameters, as well as root growth and vitality. The field experiment was established in a 50-year-old Norway spruce (Picea abies L.) stand where no Al or low concentrations of Al had been added every 7–10 days during the growth season for 7 years. Analysis of soil solutions collected using zero tension lysimeters and porous suction cups showed that Al treatment lead to increased concentrations of Al, Ca and Mg and lower pH and [Ca + Mg + K/Al] molar ratio. Corresponding soil analyses showed that soil pH remained unaffected (pH 3.8), that exchangeable Al increased, while exchangeable Ca and Mg decreased due to the Al treatment. Root in-growth into cores placed in the upper 20 cm of the soil during three growth seasons was not affected by Al additions, neither was nutrient concentration or mortality of these roots. The biomass of some taxonomic groups of soil microorganisms, analyzed using specific membrane components (phospholipid fatty acids; PLFAs), was clearly affected by the imposed Al treatment, both in the organic soil horizon and in the underlying mineral soil. Microbial community structure in both horizons was also clearly modified by the Al treatment. Shifts in PLFA trans/cis ratios indicative of short term physiological stress were not observed. Yet, aluminium stress was indicated both by changes in community structure and in ratios of single PLFAs for treated/untreated plots. Thus, soil microorganisms were more sensitive indicators of subtle chemical changes in soil than chemical composition and vitality of roots.  相似文献

青海云杉是祁连山森林生态系统的主要建群种,具有重要的生态水文功能.冠层盖度是评估生态环境的一个重要参数, 但目前缺乏有效评估手段.半球摄影技术在估算林冠盖度方面已显示出潜在优势,但它受到环境条件例如天气的影响仍然没有报道.在祁连山排露沟流域利用半球摄影技术反演冠层盖度,界定不同天气条件对阈值的影响,评估与传统方法估算林冠盖度的差别,结果表明:分类阈值受天气状况的影响较大,阴天的最佳阈值为118,晴天的最佳阈值为149;另外传统观测与半球图像法获得的林冠盖度有一定的差异,其中最大差值17.88%,最小差值5.34%.该项研究对青海云杉林盖度估算提供新的方法,为生态水文过程模型提供有价值的输入参数.  相似文献

In order to investigate the influence of different magnesium nutrition on photosynthesis, one hundred 6-year-old spruce trees derived from one clone were planted in October 1990 into a special out-door experimental construction, where they were cultivated in sand culture with an optimal supply of nutrients, except magnesium, via circulating nutrient solutions. Magnesium was added to the nutrient solutions in three different concentrations, varying from optimal to severe deficient supplies. During the first vegetative period in 1991, photosynthetic performance and carboxylation efficiency were measured under saturating light, controlled CO2 conditions, optimal temperature and humidity, using a minicuvette system.During summer, the trees under moderate magnesium deficiency developed tip yellowing symptoms on older needles, while the youngest needles remained green with unchanged chlorophyll contents. Trees under severe magnesium deficiency showed yellowing symptoms on all needle age classes combined with decreased chlorophyll contents in the youngest needles as well. In comparison with the controls, the photosynthetic performance of the 1-year-old needles was significantly lower in both deficiency treatments. The same was observed in the youngest needles of the trees under severe deficiency. Trees under moderate deficiency treatment decreased in photosynthetic performance during the summer without reduction of chlorophyll contents. The reduction of photosynthetic rates corresponded to a decrease in carboxylation efficiency, which is taken as a measure of the activity of the enzyme ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase. This reduction, together with the observed increase of carbohydrate contents in needles of trees growing under magnesium deficiency, led to the assumption that the photosynthetic carbonfixation is reduced as a consequence of the accumulation of carbohydrates.  相似文献

Decaying wood provides an important habitat for animals and forms a seed bed for many shade-intolerant, small-seeded plants, particularly Nothofagus. Using morphotyping and rDNA sequence analysis, we compared the ectomycorrhizal fungal community of isolated N. cunninghamii seedlings regenerating in decayed wood against that of mature tree roots in the forest floor soil. The /cortinarius, /russula-lactarius, and /laccaria were the most species-rich and abundant lineages in forest floor soil in Australian sites at Yarra, Victoria and Warra, Tasmania. On root tips of seedlings in dead wood, a subset of the forest floor taxa were prevalent among them species of /laccaria, /tomentella-thelephora, and /descolea, but other forest floor dominants were rare. Statistical analyses suggested that the fungal community differs between forest floor soil and dead wood at the level of both species and phylogenetic lineage. The fungal species colonizing isolated seedlings on decayed wood in austral forests were taxonomically dissimilar to the species dominating in similar habitats in Europe. We conclude that formation of a resupinate fruit body type on the underside of decayed wood is not necessarily related to preferential root colonization in decayed wood. Rather, biogeographic factors as well as differential dispersal and competitive abilities of fungal taxa are likely to play a key role in structuring the ectomycorrhizal fungal community on isolated seedlings in decaying wood.  相似文献

粗木质残体(Coarse woody debris,CWD)的空间格局反映了森林群落的死亡格局和干扰格局,在一定程度上体现了群落内林木的死亡过程。采用相邻网格法对色季拉山急尖长苞冷杉(Abies georgei var.smithii)原始林1 hm2固定样地内CWD进行调查,从CWD类型、腐烂等级、径级3个方面对CWD空间分布格局进行分析。结果表明:样地内CWD总密度为582株/hm2,倒木占55.33%,是CWD的主要输入形式。CWD密度在腐烂等级上的分布可用多项式拟合(R2=0.9973),在径级上的分布可用指数衰减模型拟合(R2=0.9746),且在不同类型、腐烂等级及径级上的分布差异较大。在50 m尺度内,CWD整体表现为小尺度的集群分布和中、大尺度的随机分布。在3种CWD分类中,仅有大枯枝、Ⅰ级腐烂、径级ⅠCWD在小尺度或中尺度表现为较强的集群分布,其余则均以随机分布为主,只是在个别尺度达到或接近集群分布。不同类型CWD间整体关联不显著,只有枯立木与大枯枝在0-21 m尺度内达到显著负关联。CWD空间分布格局是急尖长苞冷杉原始林的重要结构特征,在很大程度上决定着林下植物群落及林型自然更新格局。  相似文献

Decayed wood from fallen white spruce (Picea glauca) and trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) collected in northeastern Alberta, Canada, was the source of new isolates of species in the ascomycete generaGymnostellatospora andPseudogymnoascus. In addition to new reports ofG. japonica, G. frigida andP. roseus, two new species are described.Gymnostellatospora canadensis sp. nov. resemblesG. japonica but differs in producing brown ascomata and in the formation of an arthroconidial anamorph.Gymnostellatospora subnuda sp. nov. is distinct in lacking differentiated peridial hyphae.Gymnostellatospora alpina was not found in decayed wood but is reviewed based on extralimital material. The endogenous concentrations of the essential elements Ca, Cl, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, N, P and Zn, and of the nonessential elements Al, As, Ba, Br, Co, Cr, Cs, Hg, I, La, Na, Rb, Sb, Sc, Si and Sr were determined in 5 successive needle age classes. 40 mature spruce trees from 6 different sites were investigated individually. A given element usually shows smooth changes with the needle age class t. Trees on a given site usually have a similar dynamic behaviour. The same holds for the different site means. The concentrations can be approximated by functions c=f(t). Three different types of functions are required to describe the dynamic behaviour of 3 groups of elements that increase with t, and one for the elements that decrease with t. A given element usually can be described by the same type of function at all sites, even if its concentration differs widely. Exceptions are Mn, Co and Zn, which change from a decreasing function at low concentrations to an increasing function at high concentrations. Further irregulatities are found at some sites with Ca, Sr and Ba. These findings are corroborated by a multivariate statistical analysis.  相似文献

Chitinases help plants defend themselves against fungal attack, and play roles in other processes, including development. The catalytic modules of most plant chitinases belong to glycoside hydrolase family 19. We report here x-ray structures of such a module from a Norway spruce enzyme, the first for any family 19 class IV chitinase. The bi-lobed structure has a wide cleft lined by conserved residues; the most interesting for catalysis are Glu113, the proton donor, and Glu122, believed to be a general base that activate a catalytic water molecule. Comparisons to class I and II enzymes show that loop deletions in the class IV proteins make the catalytic cleft shorter and wider; from modeling studies, it is predicted that only three N-acetylglucosamine-binding subsites exist in class IV. Further, the structural comparisons suggest that the family 19 enzymes become more closed on substrate binding. Attempts to solve the structure of the complete protein including the associated chitin-binding module failed, however, modeling studies based on close relatives indicate that the binding module recognizes at most three N-acetylglucosamine units. The combined results suggest that the class IV enzymes are optimized for shorter substrates than the class I and II enzymes, or alternatively, that they are better suited for action on substrates where only small regions of chitin chain are accessible. Intact spruce chitinase is shown to possess antifungal activity, which requires the binding module; removing this module had no effect on measured chitinase activity.  相似文献

Summary Photosynthetic performance of several needle age classes of Norway spruce trees [Picea abies (L.) Karst.] in highly SO2-polluted and heavily damaged forest sites was measured at two different locations in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge, Krusne Hory) during early summer. The carboxylation efficiency showed a dramatic drop from current-year's needles to 1-year-old needles with only a slight further decrease with increased needle age. The light use efficiency also revealed these characteristics. For both parameters, no linear decrease with needle age could be found. In contrast, the maximum photosynthetic capacity (A2500) decreased linearly with time and revealed a good correlation with the total sulfur content of the needles. Absolute values measured for A2500 were approximately 50% lower than those of comparable trees in the nearby Fichtelgebirge. Mineral deficiencies or acute nutrient imbalances of the needles were not detected. In contrast to the situation in the forests of the Fichtelgebirge, a direct effect of gaseous SO2 on the trees in the Ore Mountains seems plausible.This paper is dedicated to our teacher Professor Otto Ludwig Lange on the occasion of his 65th birthday  相似文献

Complete annual cycles of N2O and CH4 flux in forest soils at a beech and at a spruce site at the Höglwald Forest were followed in 1997 by use of fully automatic measuring systems. In order to test if on a microsite scale differences in the magnitude of trace gas exchange between e.g. areas in direct vicinity of stems and areas in the interstem region at both sites exist, tree chambers and gradient chambers were installed in addition to the already existing interstem chambers at our sites. N2O fluxes were in a range of –4.6–473.3 g N2O-N m–2 h–1 at the beech site and in a range of –3.7–167.2 g N2O-N m–2 h–1 at the spruce site, respectively. Highest N2O emissions were observed during and at the end of a prolonged frost period, thereby further supporting previous findings that frost periods are of crucial importance for controlling annual N2O losses from temperate forests. Fluxes of CH4 were in a range of +10.4––194.0 g CH4 m–2 h–1 at the beech site and in a range of –4.4––83.5 g CH4 m–2 h–1 at the spruce site. In general, both N2O-fluxes as well as CH4-fluxes were higher at the beech site. On a microsite scale, N2O and CH4 fluxes at the beech site were highest within the stem area (annual mean: 49.6±3.3 g N2O-N m–2 h–1; –77.2±3.1 g CH4 m–2 h–1), and significantly lower within interstem areas (18.5±1.4 g N2O-N m–2 h–1; –60.2±1.8 g CH4 m–2 h–1). Significantly higher values of total N, C and pH in the organic layer, as well as increased soil moisture, especially in spring, in the stem areas, are likely to contribute to the higher N2O fluxes within the stem area of the beech. Also for the spruce site, such differences in trace gas fluxes could be demonstrated to exist (mean annual N2O emission within (a) stem areas: 9.7±0.9 g N2O-N m–2 h–1 and (b) interstem areas: 6.2±0.6 g N2O-N m–2 h–1; mean annual CH4 uptake within (a) stem areas: –26.1±0.6 g CH4 m–2 h–1 and (b) interstem areas: –38.4±0.8 g CH4 m–2 h–1), though they were not as pronounced as at the beech site.  相似文献

In order to gain information about seasonal and interannual variations of CH4-fluxes at a spruce control site, a limed spruce site and a beech site of the Höglwald Forest, Bavaria, Germany, complete annual cycles of CH4-exchange between the soil and the atmosphere with 2-hourly resolution were followed for 4 consecutive years. The ranges of CH4 fluxes observed for the different sites were: +12.4 to –69.4 g CH4 m–2 h–1 (spruce control site), +11.7 to –51.4 g CH4 m–2 h–1 (limed spruce site), and –4.4 to –167.3 g CH4 m–2 h–1 (beech site). Lowest rates of atmospheric CH4-uptake or even a weak net-emission of CH4 by the soils were observed during winter/spring times, whereas highest rates of CH4-uptake were always found in summer/spring. Over the entire observation period of 4 years, mean CH4-uptake rates were –1.82 kg CH4-C ha–1 yr–1 at the spruce control site, –1.31 kg CH4-C ha–1 yr–1 at the limed spruce site, and –4.84 kg CH4-C ha–1 yr–1 at the beech site. The results obtained in this study demonstrate that in view of the huge interannual variations in CH4-fluxes of approx. 1 kg CH4-C ha–1 yr–1, multiple year measurements of CH4-fluxes are necessary to accurately characterize the sink strength of temperate forest for atmospheric CH4. By comparison of CH4-fluxes measured at the spruce control site and the limed spruce site, a significant negative effect of forest floor liming on CH4-uptake could be demonstrated. Compared to the spruce stand, the beech stand showed on average approx. 3 times higher rates of atmospheric CH4-uptake, most likely due to pronounced differences between both sites with regard to the organic layer structure and bulk density of the mineral soil. Regression analysis between CH4-fluxes and environmental parameters revealed that at all sites the dominating factors regulating temporal variations of CH4 fluxes were soil moisture and soil temperature. Field measurements of CH4 concentrations in the soil profile and laboratory measurements of CH4-oxidation and CH4-production activity on soil samples taken from different soil depths showed that the CH4-flux at the Höglwald Forest sites is the net-result of simultaneous occurring production and consumption of CH4 within the soil. Highest CH4-oxidation activity was found in the uppermost centimeters of the mineral soil, whereas highest potential CH4-production activity was found in the organic layer.  相似文献

祁连山青海云杉林冠生态水文效应及其影响因素   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
以位于祁连山中段大野口关滩森林站的青海云杉林为研究对象,利用2008年观测期间(6月12日至10月8日)34场降雨的大气降雨量、穿透雨量和树干茎流量观测资料,对青海云杉林的降雨再分配特征及其影响因素进行综合分析。结果表明:青海云杉林的总穿透雨量、截留量和干流量分别为212.6、64.5 mm和3.4 mm,分别占大气降雨量的75.8%、23.0%和1.2%;穿透雨在林内具有较大的空间变异性,其变异程度随降雨量的增大而减小,叶面积指数和冠层郁闭度在一定程度上也影响穿透雨的空间分布,且降雨量越小其影响效果越明显;青海云杉林的总干流量为3.4 mm,平均干流率为0.58%,雨前林冠的湿润程度对树干流的产生有很大影响,导致当降雨量为5.6 mm时就开始产生树干茎流;青海云杉林冠截留率的大小主要取决于降雨量,且随着降雨量的增大先减小并逐渐趋于稳定,林冠截留量总体上随冠层郁闭度和叶面积指数的增大而增大,但当观测点位于树冠边缘或多个树冠重叠处时出现负截留现象。所以,就特定林分而言,冠层结构特征对于其林冠生态水文效应起着重要的作用。  相似文献

Diurnal changes in the stem radius of a subalpine mature Norway spruce were measured simultaneously with the flow of sap in xylem. Matric potentials in the soil were > -35 kPa. The kinetics of the flow were closely related to the changes in the radius of the stem resulting from depletion of its extensible tissues. The radius of the stem oscillated daily and, fairly independently of this, fluctuated over several days. The daily shrinkage (d) was correlated with the daily flow through its base (Qd). When the crown transpired little and was nearly saturated during rainy days, ASd tended to increase relative to Qd. Using a linear relation, the estimates of flow by d deviated less than ± 10% from the values measured by heat balance, provided that the periods of calibration in their ratio of dry to rainy days were comparable to those estimated. If the two periods differed in this respect, the estimates of flow deviated up to 42%. A quadratic relation yielded estimates that depended less on weather. It reduced maximal deviations to ±22%. Since d additionally may represent the time pattern of the daily transpiration better than Qd, analysing changes in the radius of stems may supplement or partly replace measurements of sap flow in stems.  相似文献

In order to test the effects of drought on the occurrence of spruce yellowing, in the Vosges Mountains (northeastern France), the soil of a plot of a 30-year-old spruce stand was protected from throughfall input by a roof for two months during the summer. The degree of yellowing of the trees from the dry and control plots was measured before and after the experiment. Sap flow and sap concentrations were measured in the control plot during the whole of the growing season, and in the dry plot during the drought period. Drought brought about an increase of needle yellowing linked to a reduction in Mg uptake. A decrease in sap concentration of concentration of Ca, Mg and K occurred in the dry plot as compared with the control plot at the end of the drought period. It is concluded that climatic stress could have been the triggering factor of spruce yellowing in the Vosges during the eighties.  相似文献

苔藓层是青海云杉林(Picea crassifolia forest)下的一个重要层片,它通过截持降水和减少土壤蒸发,对土壤水分产生影响。以祁连山北坡排露沟小流域的一个阴坡(海拔2700 m,植被为青海云杉林)作为样坡,于2010—2012年生长季对青海云杉林下有、无苔藓层覆盖地点的土壤水分进行对比观测。结果表明在祁连山青海云杉林下,苔藓层覆盖能减少土壤水分的空间差异。主要表现为:(1)无苔藓覆盖各观测点土壤含水量极差达62.2 mm,空间变异系数(CV)为17.3%;有苔藓层覆盖观测点土壤含水量空间变异系数为2.3%,仅为无苔藓覆盖地点的1/7.5,空间差异极显著(sig.0.001)。(2)在持续无雨、小雨后和连阴雨天气下,有苔藓覆盖地点土壤含水量空间差异均显著小于无苔藓覆盖地点(sig.0.05)。在持续无雨的情况下,无苔藓层覆盖各观测点土壤含水量空间变异系数平均值为19.8%,有苔藓覆盖地点土壤含水量空间变异系数平均值为6.6%,仅为无苔藓覆盖地点的1/3。小雨后,无苔藓覆盖各观测点土壤含水量空间变异系数平均值为15.2%,有苔藓覆盖地点土壤水分空间变异系数平均为5.1%,为无苔藓覆盖地点的1/3。连阴雨后,无苔藓覆盖各观测点土壤含水量空间变异系数平均为15.4%,有苔藓覆盖地点土壤水分空间变异系数平均为4.6%,为无苔藓覆盖地点的1/3.3。(3)持续无雨的情况下,苔藓层减小土壤水分空间差异的作用主要反映在土壤表层0—15 cm,对深层的作用不显著。而小雨和连阴雨后,苔藓层对15—80 cm深层土壤影响显著,而表层0—15 cm没有明显规律。  相似文献

祁连山青海云杉林生物量和碳储量空间分布特征   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
根据野外调查资料、祁连山地区青海云杉林相图和气象资料,在GIS技术的支持下估算了祁连山地区青海云杉林的生物量和碳储量及其空间分布.结果表明:2008年,研究区青海云杉林平均生物量为209.24 t·hm-2,总生物量为3.4×107 t;研究区水热条件的差异使青海云杉生物量在地理空间上存在较大的差异性;经度每增加1°,青海云杉生物量增加3.12t·hm-2;纬度每增加1°,生物量减少3.8 t·hm-2;海拔每升高100 m,生物量减少0.05 t·hm-2;2008年,研究区青海云杉林碳密度在70.4~131.1 t·hm-2,平均碳密度为109.8 t·hm-2,幼龄林、中龄林、近熟林、成熟林和过熟林的平均碳密度分别为83.8、109.6、122、124.2和117.1 t·hm-2,研究区青海云杉林总碳储量为1.8×107 t.  相似文献

A greenhouse experiment was performed to evaluate the effect of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) seedlings on net nutrient availability in five different growing media containing F- or H-layer and mineral soil originating from a haplic podzol in northern Sweden. The initial total amounts of eight nutrient elements (N, K, P, Ca, Mg, Mn, Fe, Zn) and exchangeable amounts of the same elements were analyzed in pots with or without spruce seedlings. In the planted pots seedling nutrient uptake was also estimated. After 26 weeks, higher net nutrient availability with seedlings was found in 25 out of the 40 (62%) growing media and nutrient element combinations. A positive seedling effect on net nutrient availability might be explained by rhizodeposition stimulating the soil microorganism activity and accelerating the weathering of minerals or by seedling roots promoting the nutrient providing processes through changes in soil chemical and physical properties. Nitrogen availability was primarily affected by what part of the forest floor the growing medium contained although the positive response to seedling presence was apparent. The positive net availability response of P, Ca, Mg, Mn, Fe and Zn to seedling presence was on the other hand relatively strong. In the case of P, K, and Zn the growing medium composition (if the F- and H-layer was pure or mixed with mineral soil) was also an important factor for the estimated net availability. Pure F-and H-layer provided greater P- and K-availability while the availability of Zn increased when mineral soil was added. The influence of growing plants ought to be considered when soil samples are used for assessing the nutrient availability.  相似文献
