Results of experimental studies of the effect of an external RF field on the excitation of oscillations in a magnetoplasmadynamic plasma accelerator are presented. It is found that applying an RF field can suppress the drift component of low-frequency oscillations in the ejected plasma flow. The experimental data agree with the concept of stabilization of the plasma accelerator by the magnetic component of the field generated by the RF current loop. The conditions under which the RF field stabilizes the generation of the plasma flow are determined, and the factors limiting the stabilization efficiency are revealed.  相似文献

The engineering characteristics of the KPF-4 Phoenix megajoule Mather-type plasma focus facility constructed at the Sukhumi Physicotechnical Institute are described. Results from preliminary studies of the plasma dynamics at a capacitive-storage energy of up to 700 kJ are discussed. Future experiments in KPF-4 will be oriented at technological applications and will complement the studies carried out in the 2.8-MJ Filippovtype PF-3 plasma focus facility at the Nuclear Fusion Institute of the Russian Research Centre Kurchatov Institute.  相似文献

Screening of a moving charged dust particle in a nonequilibrium plasma is studied by using the point sink model. The characteristic time of the formation of a polarization charge cloud around the moving particle is determined. It is shown that the stationary potential of the moving charged macroparticle has a dipole component which becomes dominant at large distances from the macroparticle. The interaction force of the moving charged macroparticle with the induced charge cloud is determined, and it is shown that the direction of this force can coincide with the macroparticle velocity direction.  相似文献

The energy that can be released in plasma due to the onset of instability (the excess plasma energy) is estimated. Three potentially unstable plasma states are considered, namely, plasma with an anisotropic Maxwellian velocity distribution of plasma particles, plasma with a two-beam velocity distribution, and an inhomogeneous plasma in a magnetic field with a local Maxwellian velocity distribution. The excess energy can serve as a measure of the degree to which plasma is nonequilibrium. In particular, this quantity can be used to compare plasmas in different nonequilibrium states.  相似文献

A theoretical model is presented that describes the charging of dust grains in the positive plasma column of a stratified glow dc discharge in argon. A one-dimensional self-consistent model is used to obtain axial profiles of the electric field, as well as the electron energy distribution function along the axis of the discharge tube. Radial profiles of the electric field are determined in the ambipolar diffusion approximation. It is assumed that, in the radial direction, the electron distribution function depends only on the total electron energy. Two-dimensional distributions of the discharge plasma parameters are calculated and used to determine the potential and charge of a test dust grain at a certain point within the discharge and the electrostatic forces acting on it. It is shown that the grain charge distribution depends strongly on the nonequilibrium electron distribution function and on the nonuniform distribution of the electric field in a stratified glow discharge. A discussion is presented on the suspension of dust grains, the separation of grains by size in the discharge striations, and a possible mechanism for the onset of vortex dust motion at the edge of a dust cloud.  相似文献

The amplitudes of high-frequency longitudinal fluctuations excited by a nonequilibrium source in a nonuniform plasma are calculated. The results obtained are applicable to arbitrary nonequilibrium distributions of plasma particles in the absence of parametric instabilities. The spectra of probing waves scattered by fluctuations in a linear ionospheric plasma layer under conditions typical of experiments on incoherent radio wave scattering are found. The effects of electron-ion collisions and electron temperature anisotropy on the scattering intensity are demonstrated.  相似文献

The concentration of vitamin D was determined in human and bovine plasma samples under various physiological and nonphysiological conditions using a nonequilibrium ligand binding assay. Prior to ligand binding analysis the vitamin D in the plasma organic extracts was purified using chromatographic procedures involving Lipidex-5000 and high performance liquid chromatography. The use of a nonequilibrium assay system greatly increased the sensitivity of our assay allowing for a minimum volume of the initial plasma sample. The vitamin D levels in plasma responded to increased sun exposure as well as to the intoxication with vitamin D3. Analysis of a plasma sample from a vitamin D-deficient patient revealed that lipid interference was not a factor in this ligand binding assay.  相似文献

The screening of the grain charge in a nonequilibrium plasma is studied with allowance for electron and ion fluxes to the grain surface and the bulk processes of production and loss of charged particles in an argon plasma. The objective of the paper is to investigate how the conversion of monatomic Ar+ ions into diatomic Ar2+ ions influences the screening of the dust grain charge in a plasma produced by an external gas ionization source. It is found that the conversion of positive ions leads to the onset of a second ion species in the plasma and, as a consequence, to a three-exponential screening of the grain charge; moreover, in a certain range of plasma parameters, all three screening constants are of the same order of magnitude. Analytical results are compared with the data of numerical simulations carried out based on the drift-diffusion approximation.  相似文献

The MHD activity of plasma in the GOL-3 facility was studied experimentally. The complicated azimuthal structure of the profile of the longitudinal current is revealed by magnetic measurements and high-speed imaging. The azimuthal mode composition of magnetic perturbations, as well as the frequency of their rotation in different regimes, is determined. The signs of differential plasma rotation in the facility are described. Possible mechanisms responsible for the relation of differential rotation to current filamentation and magnetic reconnection in the GOL-3 plasma are proposed. These mechanisms explain the previously observed experimental evidences of these processes.  相似文献

The program of the deep upgrade of the GOL-3 multiple-mirror trap is presented. The upgrade is aimed at creating a new GOL-NB open trap located at the GOL-3 site and intended to directly demonstrate the efficiency of using multiple-mirror magnetic cells to improve longitudinal plasma confinement in a gasdynamic open trap. The GOL-NB device will consist of a new central trap, adjoint cells with a multiple-mirror magnetic field, and end tanks (magnetic flux expanders). Plasma in the central trap will be heated by neutral beam injection with a power of up to 1.5 MW and duration of 1 ms. At present, physical experiments directed at developing plasma technologies that are novel for this facility are being carried out using the 6-m-long autonomous part of the GOL-3 solenoid. The aim of this work was to develop a method for filling the central trap with a low-temperature start plasma. Transportation of a plasma stream from an arc source over a distance of 3 m in a uniform magnetic field with an induction of 0.5–4.5 T is demonstrated. In these experiments, the axial plasma density was (1–4) × 1020 m–3 and the mirror ratio varied from 5 to 60. In general, the experiments confirmed the correctness of the adopted decisions for the start plasma source of the GOL-NB device.  相似文献

We report studies of the optical properties of the proflavine–DNA complex, using absorbance and circular dichroism spectroscopy. From comparison of the absorption spectra of proflavine complexed with calf thymus and T2 DNA, we conclude that stacking of the dyes external to the double helix is comparatively much weaker with T2 DXA, probably because of its glucosylation. Several sources are found for the circular dichroism induced in proflavine when it is complexed with DNA. There is a relatively weak circular dichroism induced when the dye is infinitely dilute on the DNA lattice; this presumably arises from the environmental asymmetry of the binding site. Stronger circular dichroism effects are induced by interaction of intercalated and stacked dyes; studies with T2 DNA, for which stacking seems to be blocked, permit a tentative resolution of effects due to the two modes of binding. One recurring theme of these studies is the observation that the optical properties are quite dependent on environment. The most dramatic example is a strong variation with salt concentration of the amplitude of the circular dichroism induced in the isolated (intercalated) monomer by the surrounding DNA. This suggests that the structure of the intercalated complex is quite sensitive to external conditions.  相似文献

A method for the laser probing of an imploding plasma in the S-300 high-current generator (I=4 MA, Z=0.15 Ω, and τ=100 ns) with the use of a YAG: Nd laser is described. The first version of the method enables obtaining three-frame shadow and schlieren photographs of the plasma of the accelerator load with an exposure of 10 ns and an interval between frames of 25 ns. The second version enables the five-frame probing of the plasma with an exposure of 1 ns and an interval between frames of 10 ns. Stimulated Brillouin scattering in carbon tetrachloride is used to compress the probing laser pulse. A series of shadow and schlieren photographs of the plasma of different liners and Z-pinches are obtained. Mechanisms for the image formation are discussed. The magnitude and gradients of the plasma density are estimated.  相似文献

The calculations of the radiation spectrum, the color rendering index R a , the color temperature T c , and the color coordinates X c and Y c of cesium plasma radiation under the conditions characteristic for a pulse-periodic discharge in cesium are presented. The plasma pressure range of 30–1500 Torr and the range of temperatures on the axis of 3200–6000 K are considered. The color rendering index is shown to be R a > 90 in the entire analyzed plasma parameter ranges. The color temperature of plasma radiation varies within a broad range of 2300–5500 K. The color coordinates of the cesium plasma radiation are close to the X c and Y c coordinates of a black body.  相似文献

The velocities of the plasma jets formed from Ne, N2, Ar, and Xe gases in plasma focus facilities were determined by means of laser-optical shadowgraphy of the shock waves generated at the jet leading edge. In spite of the almost tenfold ratio between the atomic weights of these gases, the outflow velocities of the plasma jets formed in experiments with these gases differ by less than twice, in the range of (0.7–1.1) × 107 cm/s under similar discharge conditions. The energies of the jet ions were found to vary from 0.7 keV for nitrogen to 4 keV for xenon.  相似文献

We use optical tweezers in conjunction with an optical position-sensing system, which spectrally filters signals generated by a trapped fluorescent microsphere to study plasma membrane (PM) mechanics and its interactions with cytoskeleton. We dynamically measure the PM tethering force on human embryonic kidney cells that are a standard cultured cell line. Recorded tethering force vs. PM displacement profiles, revealed the tether formation process, initiated with linear deformation of the PM, followed by a nonlinear regime and terminated with the local separation of PM. Tethering force vs. displacement profiles were used to estimate tether formation force and stiffness parameter of the PM. Integration of the force-displacement profiles yielded the work of tether formation, including linear and nonlinear components. Our results demonstrate that spectral filtering of the optically trapped fluorescent microsphere image formed on the position-sensing system overcomes the artifacts introduced by the transillumination imaging and allows accurate measures of PM mechanics before and during the initial stages of tether formation.  相似文献

Results are presented from studies of the spectral characteristics of a glowing plasma object that forms behind a shock wave propagating in a background gas at a pressure of 1 Torr after laser irradiation of a spherical organic target in the MKV-4 device (a component of the Iskra-5 facility). A model capable of describing the kinetics of collisional recombination in nonideal plasmas by the methods of molecular dynamics is developed. The dependence of the collisional recombination rate on the coupling parameter is found to differ substantially from the extrapolation of the three-body recombination rate in nonideal plasmas. A sharp decrease in the recombination rate in strongly nonideal plasmas is revealed. As the coupling parameter decreases, collisional recombination transforms into three-body recombination.  相似文献

1. The major components of the underwater light field (ULF: vertical attenuation, absorption, scattering and suspensoids including plankton fractions) of Las Madres Lake, a small wind‐sheltered, oligohumic lake in Central Spain, were investigated daily over a period of 3 months at the onset of vernal circulation. 2. Gilvin, arising mostly from the decomposition of reeds in the littoral in autumn, was the main component of vertical attenuation, and its variability explained the highest fraction of absorption variability. Tripton appeared to be the main factor responsible for scattering, and might have resulted from dust deposition from the surrounding mining land. The plankton community played a minor role in attenuation, absorption or scattering throughout the investigation period. 3. Vertical and horizontal mixing dynamics may control the ULF to a certain extent, as most optical properties changed within different mixing periods and poor advective exchanges may have resulted in uneven distribution of water colour in this small lake. 4. Time series analysis showed that most autocorrelations were shorter than a week, inherent properties (absorption, scattering) being delayed longer than apparent properties (attenuation, transparency) as a result of their lower dependence on solar irradiance. A 2‐day lag was observed in cross‐correlations between either gilvin and absorption or tripton and scattering. When different mixing periods at early circulation were considered, however, ULF components changed their relationships and delays with suspensoids and dissolved substances over such periods, probably tracking the dynamics of their controlling factors. 5. Our study, and others at daily, weekly, seasonal, interannual and long‐term scales, demonstrates that ULF is a system upon which different processes are operating at different time scales. Contrary to expectations, however, the variability in the ULF does not increase with time scale and depends partly upon the trophic status of lakes.  相似文献
