The thermotropic phase transitions were determined for a variety of phospholipids including dimyristoyl (DMPC) and distearoyl phosphatidylcholine (DSPC); dimyristoyl (DMPE), dioleoyl (DOPE) and egg phospatidylethanolamine (PE); egg and bovine brain sphingomyelin (SM) and bovine brain phosphatidylserine (PS) in the presence and absence of calcium or magnesium. The gel to liquid crystal phase transition is accompanied by a 2–4% increase in volume for a variety of phospholipids. This transition can be readily detected by scanning densitometry with multilamellar suspensions of phospholipids. In contrast, the liquid crystal to hexagonal phase transition does not involve any detectable change in volume. In addition, the volume coefficient of expansion for the hexagonal phase is similar to that found for several other bilayer systems. PS in the presence of Ca2+, SMs and DMPC at 50°C all have lower values of the volume coefficient of expansion. This property may be correlated with the resistance of these systems to the formation of additional gauche isomers in the hydrocarbon chains with increasing temperatures resulting in lowered permeability.  相似文献

Processes occurring in dispersions of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine containing myristic acid have been studied by light scattering of dilute dispersions (concn. ≤ 1 mg/ml) at temperatures above and below the phase transition temperatures of these dispersions. The transition temperatures increase with increasing mol fraction of myristic acid. Above these temperatures, vesicles with different mol fractions of myristic acid exchange lipid molecules. The exchange process leads to vesicles having phase transition temperatures and radii, which are both intermediate between the initial transitions and radii, respectively. In contrast with the observations above the phase transitions, it was found that when dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine/myristic acid vesicles were cooled to a few degrees below the phase transition, larger particles were formed. These observations are consistent with a mechanism consisting of vesicle aggregation followed by fusion of the aggregated vesicles. The aggregation process is of second order in the vesicle concentration, and its rate increases with increasing mol fraction of myristic acid.  相似文献

The structure and thermotropic phase behaviour of aqueous dispersions of egg phosphatidylcholine, egg sphingomyelin, bovine brain sphingomyelin and binary mixtures of phosphatidylcholine and sphingomyelins have been examined by synchrotron X-ray diffraction methods. Small-angle lamellar Bragg peaks and wide-angle X-ray scattering bands have been subjected to peak fitting procedures to identify coexisting gel and fluid as well as fluid-fluid bilayer structures. Molecular species of egg phosphatidylcholine exhibit fluid-fluid immiscibility throughout heating scans from 20 ° to 50 °C. Egg and brain sphingomyelins exhibit gel-fluid bilayer coexistence at temperatures below the main phase transition temperature and fluid-fluid phase coexistence at higher temperatures. Binary mixtures of equimolar proportions of egg phosphatidylcholine and either of the sphingomyelins show gel-fluid phase coexistence at temperatures below the gel phase transition temperature of the respective sphingomyelin. Binary mixtures containing egg sphingomyelin show fluid-fluid immiscibility at all temperatures of the heating scans whereas the fluid phase of mixtures comprising brain sphingomyelin are apparently miscible at all temperatures. An analysis of binary mixtures containing egg sphingomyelin and egg phosphatidylcholine in molar ratios 50:50, 67:33 and 83:17 at 50 °C to identify the composition of the lamellar phases indicated that the two phospholipids are immiscible in bilayers in the fluid phase. The results are discussed in terms of the role of intermolecular hydrogen bonds and hydrocarbon chain composition of sphingomyelins in maintaining coupling across fluid bilayers.  相似文献

To understand the role of ω-cyclohexyl fatty acid residue of lipids in acido-thermophilic bacterial membranes, three unusual phosphatidylcholines, 1,2-di-11-cyclohexylundecanoyl-l-α-phosphatidylcholine (11CYPC), 1,2-di-13-cyclohexyltridecanoyl-l-α-phosphatidylcholine (13CYPC), and 1–13-cyclohexyltridecanoyl-2–11-cyclohexylundecanoyl-l-α-phosphatidylcholine (1–13CY-2–11CYPC) were prepared and the steady-state fluorescence anisotropy of 1,6-diphenylhexatriene (DPH) in the hydrophobic domain of these liposomal bilayers was determined. Compared with the case of dipalmitoyl (DPPC) or dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine (DMPC), introducing the ω-cyclohexyl moiety onto lecithins makes the bilayers fluid below the phase transition temperature, while immobilizes them above the phase transition temperatures. The properties of the unusual phosphatidylcholine liposomes suggested by the steady-state fluorescence anisotropy investigation were in good agreement with those obtained from the thermotropic and permeability investigations. Results obtained are discussed from the view point of the role and function of lipid membranes of acido-thermophilic bacteria which contain unusual fatty acids.  相似文献

The temperature dependency of the partitioning of p-alkylphenols and p-halophenols has been determined between dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine liposomes and 0.15 M NaCl. Partition coefficients increased as a function of temperature below the endothermic phase transition temperature (Tc) of the phospholipid but decreased above this temperature. The transfer process was found to be entropy-dominated below and enthalpy-dominated above the Tc, although large negative entropy changes were observed. Regular changes in the thermodynamic functions, partition coefficients and functional group free energies occurred as a function of the alkyl chain length or size of the halogen substituent below but not above the Tc. This has tentatively been attributed to increased phenol-phospholipid interaction at the higher temperatures. The partitioning of p-fluorophenol behaved in a manner expected of fluorinated compounds, yielding relatively low partition coefficients, but it produced an additional effect of markedly lowering the Tc of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine. Good correlations of the partition coefficients in liposomes with those in bulk organic solvents and with molecular size of the solute have been obtained.  相似文献

Cytochrome P-450 LM2 was reconstituted by the cholate-dialysis method into vesicles containing a mixture of either phosphatidylcholine or phosphatidylethanolamine with up to 50 mol% of phosphatidic acid. Phase transition curves in the presence or absence of cytochrome P-450 were obtained from electron paramagnetic resonance experiments by measuring the partitioning of 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl. Protein-free phospholipid vesicles exhibit a phase separation into domains of gel phase enriched in phosphatidic acid in a surrounding fluid matrix containing mainly phosphatidylcholine. The phase transition of the phosphatidic acid domains disappeared following incorporation of cytochrome P-450 into the bilayers. In contrast, in vesicles containing mixtures of egg-phosphatidic acid and dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine, the phase transition of the domains enriched in dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine was less sharp than in the corresponding vesicles containing cytochrome P-450. The results of both of these experiments could be explained by a redistribution of the mol fraction of the two phospholipids in the gel phase due to preferential binding of the egg-phosphatidic acid to the cytochrome P-450. For comparison, incorporation of cytochrome P-450 into uncharged vesicles of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine and egg-phosphatidylethanolamine did not alter the  相似文献

X-ray diffraction studies were made on the multilamellar systems produced by incubation of phospholipid bilayers and the membrane protein, cytochrome b5, or non-membrane proteins (albumin, ovalbumin and β-lactoglobulin A) at pH 8.1 in aqueous 5 mM CaCl2 solutions.Detergent-extracted cytochrome b5 (soluble aggregate) forms two types of lamellar phase with dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine bilayers, depending upon the incubation temperature. One type, which has a repeat distance of 114Å, is formed above 34°C, where the binding of cytochrome b5 to the bilayers is hydrophobic. The other type, with a repeat distance of 153 Å, is formed below 34°C, where the binding is electrostatic. It is also suggested that cytochrome b5 is monomeric in the former phase but remains aggregated in the latter phase.When dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine is used, the boundary temperature for the two types shifts to 12°C. These boundary temperatures coincide with the thermal pretransition points of hydrated dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine and dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine, respectively.Trypsin-treated cytochrome b5 (monomeric) and the three non-membrane proteins exhibit only binding of the electrostatic type to the bilayers, independently of the incubation temperature. The observed repeat distances suggest that in these cases two layers of protein molecules are incorporated between the bilayers.  相似文献

The hydration characteristics of phosphatidylcholines and the effect of cholesterol on these were studied with differential thermal analysis and water vapour adsorption experiments. Also the water adsorption of egg phosphatidylethanolamine and the effect of cholesterol on this was studied and compared with corresponding qualities of phosphatidylcholine.The differential thermal analysis study showed that the monohydrates of egg, dipalmitoyl, and dioleoyl phosphatidylcholine tightly bind ~9 molecules of water per phosphatidylcholine molecule. Cholesterol is proved to somewhat increase the water binding of the phospholipids. Cholesterol is also shown to decrease the heat change of the chain melting transition of dioleoyl phosphatidylcholine, but not to abolish it completely.The water adsorption experiments indicate that the hydration of phosphatidylcholines takes place in two steps; a strong initial water binding and a second phase of weak binding. The adsorption isotherm of egg phosphatidylethanolamine is strikingly different from that of egg phosphatidylcholine. Cholesterol is shown, also by this method, to increase the hydration of phospholipids especially that of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine.The results in this study are in good agreement with those presented by many other authors. Starting with the accumulated information of the hydration characteristics of phosphatidylcholines the organization of the bound water around the polar group is discussed and the most probable model is evaluated.  相似文献

Isolated mammalian cytochrome oxidase gave an Arrhenius plot with a break (Tb) at about 20 degrees C when assayed in a medium containing Emasol. The activation energies above and below 20 degrees C were 9.3 (EH) and 18.9 kcal/mol (EL), respectively. Isolated cytochrome oxidase was also incorporated into vesicles of dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC, phase transition temperature Tt = 40 degrees C), dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine (DMPC, Tt = 23 degrees C) and dioleoyl phosphatidylcholine (DOPC, Tt = -22 degrees C). The DPPC system showed a nearly linear Arrhenius plot between 9 and 36 degrees C with E = 22.8 kcal/mol. When cytochrome oxidase was resolubilized from the DPPC vesicles and assayed in solution a biphasic plot was obtained again. Cytochrome oxidase-DOPC was more active than the solubilized enzyme and exhibited a biphasic Arrhenius plot with Tb = 23 degrees C. EH and EL were 6.6 and 15.8 kcal/mol, respectively. The plot for the oxidase-DMPC also showed a break (Tb = 26 degrees C) with EH = 6.6 and EL = 26.6 kcal/mol. These results indicate that the break in the Arrhenius plot reflects primarily a structural transition in the cytochrome oxidase molecule between the "hot" and "cold" conformations, as proposed previously. This transition, as well as the molecular state of cytochrome oxidase, is affected by the physical state of the membrane lipids as reflected by changes in the kinetic properties.  相似文献

The structure of cytochrome c bound to anionic lipid membranes composed of dimyristoyl, dipalmitoyl, or dioleoyl phosphatidylglycerols, or of bovine heart cardiolipin, has been investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Only small changes in secondary structure, as registered by the amide I band of cytochrome c, were observed upon binding at temperatures below that of denaturation of the protein, and these were not coupled to the thermotropic phase transitions of the lipid. The denaturation temperature of the protein decreased by approximately 25-30 degrees upon binding, in a progression which correlated with that of the lipid phase transition temperatures, being approximately 7 degrees lower for complexes with dioleoyl than with dipalmitoyl phosphatidylglycerol. Large changes in the amide proton exchange characteristics, as monitored by the spectral shifts in the amide I band of the protein in D2O, were observed on binding cytochrome c to the lipid membranes. For the slowly exchanging population, the amide deuteration rates of the free protein were nearly independent of temperature, whereas those of the bound protein increased by up to two orders of magnitude over the temperature range from 10 to 40 degrees C. In addition, the extent of exchange differed between the bound and unbound protein. A structural transition in the bound protein was detected as a discontinuous step in Arrhenius plots of the deuterium exchange rates which occurred at a temperature in the region of 22 to 29 degrees C, depending on the lipid, far below that of denaturation. The temperature of this transition was determined by the physical state of the lipid, being 7 degrees lower for the lipids in the fluid state than for those in the gel state, and, for complexes with dimyristoyl phosphatidylglycerol, occurred at an intermediate temperature, being controlled by the lipid chain-melting transition at 27-28 degrees C. These results provide evidence for a coupling of the tertiary structure of the membrane-bound protein with the physical state of the membrane lipids.  相似文献

Lipid rafts are membrane structures enriched in cholesterol, sphingomyelin and glycolipids. In majority raft-mimicking model systems high contents of cholesterol and sphingomyelin (approximately 30 mol%) are used. Existence of raft-like structures was, however, reported also in model and natural membranes containing low levels of cholesterol and sphingomyelin. In the present work differential scanning calorimetry and fluorescence spectroscopy with the use of Laurdan probe was employed to demonstrate the existence of phase separation in model systems containing DPPC with addition of 5 mol% or 10 mol% of both cholesterol and sphingomyelin. Additionally, the influence of three phenothiazine derivatives on phase separation in mixed DPPC/cholesterol/sphingomyelin bilayers was investigated. Chlorpromazine, thioridazine and trifluoperazine were able to induce phase separation in DPPC and DPPC/cholesterol/sphingomyelin bilayers in temperatures below lipid main phase transition. However, only trifluoperazine induced phase separation in temperatures close to or above main phase transition. Trifluoperazine also induced phase separation in bilayers composed of egg yolk PC or DOPC mixed with cholesterol and sphingomyelin. We concluded that presence of lipid domains can be observed in model membranes containing low levels of cholesterol and sphingomyelin. Among three phenothiazine derivatives studied, only trifluoperazine was able to induce a permanent phase separation in phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol/sphingomyelin systems.  相似文献

Calorimetric experiments showed a marked effect of Ca2+ and Mg2+ on the thermotropic behaviour of dimyristoyl phosphatidylglycerol. 2. Concentrations of Ca2+ and Mg2+ lower than 1 ion to 2 molecules of phosphatidylglycerol produced a shift of the phase transition to higher temperatures and an increase in the enthalpy change which is consistent with a closer packing of the lipid molecules in the liposomes. 3. Above the 1:2 ratio, freeze-fracture electron microscopy demonstrated typical "crystal" structures both in the presence of Ca2+ and Mg2+. In the presence of Mg2+ a metastable behaviour was noticed in the calorimetric experiments. 4. A Ca2+- and Mg2+-induced shift in the transition temperature and an increase in the enthalpy change was also observed in a 1:1 mixture of dimyristoyl phosphatidylglycerol and dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine. However, these mixed samples remained liposomal in structure at any concentration of the divalent ions. 5. Liposomes prepared from a 1:1 mixture of dimyristoyl phosphatidylglycerol and dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine in the absence of divalent cations are permeable in the range 10-50 degrees C. Bilayers of mixtures neutralized by Ca2+ or Mg2+ were demonstrated to be completely impermeable to K+, except in the vicinity of the phase transition. 6. The leak of ions from liposomes of a 1:1 mixture of dimyristoyl phosphatidylglycerol and dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine in the vicinity of the phase transition temperature was considerably less in the presence of Ca2+ than in the presence of Mg2+. 7. It is concluded that there is a correlation between the calorimetric data and the permeability properties of dimyristoyl phosphatidylglycerol-containing bilayers with respect to the influence of Ca2+ and Mg2+.  相似文献

Summary The interaction of furosemide with different phospholipids was investigated. Its influence on the lipid structure was inferred from its effect on the phase transition properties of lipids and on the conductance of planar bilayer membranes. The thermotropic properties of dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine (natural), dipalmitoyl phosphatidylethanolamine, brain sphingomyelin, brain cerebrosides and phosphatidylserine in the presence and absence of furosemide were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry,. The modifying effect of furosemide seems to be strongest on phosphatidylethanolamine (natural) and sphingomyelin bilayers. The propensity of furosemide to decrease the electrical resistance of planar lipid membranes was also studied and it is shown that the drug facilitates the transport of ions. The dynamics and environment of sphingomyelin spin-labelled at different positions in the N-acyl chain have been studied in dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine bilayer membranes by using electron spin resonance spectroscopy. Comparison was made with phosphatidylcholine spin-labelled on the sn-2 acyl chain in the same host membrane. Spin-labelled sphingomyelin was found to mix well with the host phosphatidylcholine lipids in both gel and fluid phase membranes. At 1 mol%, mutual spin-spin interactions are no greater than for spin-labelled phosphatidylcholine. In the fluid membrane phase, the effective chain order parameters and polarity-sensitive isotropic hyperfine coupling constants of spin-labelled sphingomyelin display a similar dependence on the position of labelling to those of spin-labelled phosphatidylcholine. The values of both parameters are, however, generally larger for sphingomyelin than for phosphatidylcholine at equivalent positions of acyl chain labelling. This difference is attributed to the different chain linkage of sphingo- and glycero-lipids, combined with an offset of approximately one C-atom in transbilayer register between the respective N-acyl and O-acyl chains. In the gel phase, differences in chain configuration between sphingomyelin and phosphatidylcholine are indicated by differences in spin label spectral anisotropy between the two lipids, which appears to reverse towards the terminal methyl chain end.  相似文献

Interactions of proteins and cholesterol with lipids in bilayer membranes.   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
Mixtures of lipids and protein, the ATPase from rabbit sarcoplasmic reticulum, were studied by freeze-fracture electron microscopy and by measurement of the amount of fluid lipid with the spin label 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEM-PO). In dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine vesicles the protein molecules were randomly distributed above the transition temperature, Tt, of the lipid and aggregated below Tt. For mixtures of dimyristoyl and dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine the existence of fluid and solid domains were shown in the temperature interval predicted from earlier TEMPO measurements. When protein was incorporated into this lipid mixture, freeze-fracture particles were randomly distributed in fluid lipids, or aggregated when only solid lipids were present. In mixtures of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine with cholesterol the protein was distributed randomly above the transition temperature of the phosphatidylcholine. Below that transition temperature the protein was excluded from a banded phase of solid lipid in the case of 10 mol% cholesterol. In mixtures containing 20 mol% cholesterol, protein molecules formed linear arrays, 50-200 nm in length, around smooth patches of lipid. Phase diagrams for lipid/cholesterol and lipid/protein systems are proposed which account for many of the available data. A model for increasing solidification of lipid around protein molecules or cholesterol above the transition temperature of the lipid is discussed.  相似文献

Unsonicated liposomes prepared from dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine were nearly completely dissolved during a 3 h incubation with rat plasma at or close to the phase-transition temperature of 24°C. At 37 or 15°C virtually no liposomal disintegration was observed even after 24 h of incubation. The liposomal solubilization, which was monitored by turbidity measurements or by determination of phospholipid sedimentability, was accompanied by the formation of a phospholipid-protein complex similar or identical to the one we previously reported to be formed from sonicated liposomes of egg phosphatidylcholine (Scherphof, G., Roerdink, F., Waite, M. and Parks, J. (1978) Biochim. Biophys. Acta 542, 296–307). Unsonicated multilamellar liposomes made of egg phosphatidylcholine were completely resistant to the dissolving potency of plasma when incubated at 37°C. Liposomes from equimolar mixtures of dimyristoyl and dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine were only degraded by plasma in the temperature range between 30 and 35°C at which temperature this cocrystallizing phospholipid mixture undergoes a phase transition. However, even at these temperatures the rate of dissolution of this mixture was significantly lower than of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine at 24°C. In the dissolving process of this mixture a slight preference for the lower-melting component was observed.The ability of cholesterol to completely abolish the susceptibility of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine liposomes to plasma at a 1:2 molar ratio of cholesterol to phospholipid substantiates the essential role of the phase transition in the process of liposome solubilization.When liposomes of the monotectic mixtures dimyristoyl and distearoyl phosphatidylcholine or dilauroyl and distearoyl phosphatidylcholine were incubated with plasma at temperatures in between those at which the constituent lipids undergo a phase change in the mixture, the liposomes were slowly disolved. Under those conditions a selective removal of the lipids in the liquid-crystalline phase was observed.It is concluded that for the plasma-induced dissolution of unsonicated liposomes, which is most probably achieved by interaction with (apo)lipoproteins, the presence of phase boundaries is required in much the same way as was first reported for phospholipases by Op den Kamp, J.A.F., de Gier, J. and Van Deenen, L.L.M. Dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine rapidly exchanges between vesicles at 37°C without vesicle fusion.The rate of the transbilayer movement of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine in sonicated vesicles has been measured employing 13C NMR using N-13CH3? labeled lipids which are introduced into the outer monolayer of non-labeled vesicles by a phosphatidylcholine exchange protein. The rate of transbilayer movement of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine shows a distinct maximum (halftime 4 h) in the temperature range at which the hydrocarbon phase transition occurs.The activation energy of the flip-flop rate above the phase transition is 23.7 ± 2.0 kcal/mol.  相似文献

The interaction of melittin, a polypeptide consisting of 26 amino acid residues, with dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine bilayers was investigated by vibrational Raman spectroscopy. Spectral peak height intensity ratios, involving vibrational transitions in both the 3000 cm?1 acyl chain methylene carbon-hydrogen stretching mode region and the 1100 cm?1 acyl chain carbon-carbon skeletal stretching mode interval, served as temperature profile indices for monitoring the bilayer order-disorder processes. For a lipid : melittin molar ratio of 14 : 1 two order-disorder transitions were observed. In comparison to a gel to liquid crystalline phase transition of 22.5°C for the pure lipid, the lower transition, exhibiting a 2°C width, is centered at 17°C and is associated with a depression of the main lipid phase transition of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine. The second thermal transition, displaying a 7°C interval, occurs at approx. 29°C and is associated with the melting behavior of approximately seven immobilized boundary lipids which surround the inserted hydrophobic segment of the polypeptide. For a lipid : melittin molar ratio of 10 : 1 two thermal transitions are also observed at 11 and 30°C. As before, they represent, respectively, the main gel to liquid crystalline phase transition and the melting behavior of approximately four boundary lipids attached to melittin. From these data alternative schemes are suggested for disposing the immobilized lipids around the hydrophobic portion of the polypeptide within the bilayer.  相似文献

An instrument that measures the temperature dependence of fluorescence polarisation and intensity directly and continuously is described. The behaviour of four fluorescent probes bound to a number of well characterised model systems was then examined. The motional properties of the probes were determined from the polarisation and intensity data and were found to be sensitive to the crystallineliquid crystalline phase transitions in phospholipid vesicles of dimyristoyl and dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine. Binary mixture of dilauroyl and dipalmitoyl phosphatidycholine show lateral phase separation and in this system the probes partition preferentially into the more ‘fluid’ phase. In systems that have been reported to contain ‘short range order’ or ‘liquid clustering’, such as dioleoyl phosphatidylcholine and liquid paraffin, the motion of the probes was found to have anomalous Arrhenius behaviour consistent with the idea that homogeneous phases were not being sampled. The significance of these findings for the interpretation of the behaviour of fluorescent probes bound to natural membranes is discussed.  相似文献

The purified Na+,Mg2(+)-ATPase from the Acholeplasma laidlawii B plasma membrane was reconstituted with dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine and the lipid thermotropic phase behavior of the proteoliposomes formed was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. The effect of this ATPase on the host lipid phase transition is markedly dependent on the amount of protein incorporated. At low protein/lipid ratios, the presence of increasing quantities of ATPase in the proteoliposomes increases the temperature and enthalpy while decreasing the cooperativity of the dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine gel to liquid-crystalline phase transition. At higher protein/lipid ratios, the incorporation of increasing amounts of this enzyme does not further alter the temperature and cooperativity of the phospholipid chain-melting transition, but progressively and markedly decreases the transition enthalpy. Plots of lipid phase transition enthalpy versus protein concentration suggest that at the higher protein/lipid ratios each ATPase molecule removes approximately 1000 dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine molecules from participation in the cooperative gel to liquid-crystalline phase transition of the bulk lipid phase. These results indicate that this integral transmembrane protein interacts in a complex, concentration-dependent manner with its host phospholipid and that such interactions involve both hydrophobic interactions with the lipid bilayer core and electrostatic interactions with the lipid polar head groups at the bilayer surface.  相似文献
