Root glochids of Opuntia arenaria Engelm. are produced by adventitious buds (areoles) that arise endogenously on fleshy roots. If they remain active, root areoles become dwarf shoots that initiate only glochids and trichomes unless the roots are uncovered or the shoots bearing the roots are removed. Then they will expand, producing aerial shoot joints. Root spurs are formed in great numbers on the profusely branched system of small roots. They consist of clusters of rootlets about one mm long that are initiated in sympodial sequence, each new rootlet arising endogenously near the base of the preceding one. On older spurs this results in the formation of a short axial peg. Rootlet primordia lack a root cap from the beginning and appear to mature quickly, losing all their meristematic characteristics and becoming completely covered with root hairs, even over the tip. They may represent a mechanism for the rapid production of root hairs during the infrequent periods when moisture is available. In any case, they seem to be transitory structures because cork soon forms beneath the older ones on a spur.  相似文献

The discovery, occurrence and symptoms of crook-root disease ( Spongospora subterranea (Wallr.) Lagerh. f.sp. nasturtii Tomlinson) are described.
Assessment of crook root in commercial watercress beds indicated that the disease increased with increasing distance from the water source, was more severe from October to April than from May to September, and affected brown more than green watercress.
The healthier condition of plants near the fresh-water inlets, compared with those growing further down the bed, was associated with the low concentration of zoospores.
Water from the river Dene, Wellesbourne, contained a factor inhibiting crook root, which was shown to be calcium bicarbonate. In laboratory tests, increasing concentrations of calcium bicarbonate from 62 to 540 p.p.m. gave an increasing degree of control of the disease. The same effect was shown in a small field test.
The combined (Ca + Mg) bicarbonate content in eighty-seven spring and artesian waters supplying diseased watercress beds in various counties varied, with one exception, from 282 to 401 p.p.m. The only bed fed by water with a higher total bicarbonate content (525 p.p.m.) was free from crook root.
It was shown that solutions containing 350–750 p.p.m. calcium bicarbonate had no effect on the germination of zoosporangia or the activity of zoospores.
Certain resemblances are noted between the control of crook root by calcium bicarbonate and the control of club root of brassicas by lime.  相似文献

树木细根在森林生态系统C和养分循环中具有重要的作用。由于温带土壤资源有效性具有明显的季节变化, 导致细根生物量、根长密度 (Rootlengthdensity, RLD) 和比根长 (Specificrootlength, SRL) 的季节性变化。以 17年生落叶松 (Larixgmelini) 人工林为研究对象, 采用根钻法从 5月到 10月连续取样, 研究了不同土层细根 (直径≤ 2mm) 生物量、RLD和SRL的季节动态, 以及这些根系指标动态与土壤水分、温度和N有效性的关系。结果表明 :1) 落叶松细根年平均生物量 (活根 +死根 ) 为 189.1g·m-2 ·a-1, 其中 5 0 %分布在表层 (0~ 10cm), 33%分布在亚表层 (11~ 2 0cm), 17%分布在底层 (2 1~ 30cm) 。活根和死根生物量在 5~ 7月以及 9月较高, 8月和 10月较低。从春季 (5月 ) 到秋季 (10月 ), 随着活细根生物量的减少, 死细根生物量增加 ;2 ) 土壤表层 (0~ 10cm) 具有较高的RLD和SRL, 而底层 (2 1~ 30cm) 最低。春季 (5月 ) 总RLD和SRL最高, 分别为 10 6 2 1.4 5m·m-3 和 14.83m·g-1, 到秋季 (9月 ) 树木生长结束后达到最低值, 分别为 2 198.2 0m·m-3 和 3.77m·g-1;3) 细根生物量、RLD和SRL与土壤水分、温度和有效N存在不同程度的相关性。从单因子分析来看, 土壤水分和有效N对细根的影响明显大于温度, 对活根的影响大于死根。由于土壤资源有效性的季节变化, 使得C的地下分配格局发生改变。各土层细根与有效性资源之间的相关性反映了细根功能季节性差异。细根 (生物量、RLD和SRL) 的季节动态 (5 8%~ 73%的变异 ) 主要由土壤资源有效性的季节变化引起。  相似文献

Several developmental stages of primary roots of 13 species of Linum were studied. The basic pattern of root apex organization in three species consisted of a single tier of cortical initials. Ten species had a basic pattern of two tiers of cortical initials. Variations, manifested by either an increase or a decrease in the tiers of cortical initials, were observed in some roots in those species that had a basic pattern of two tiers of cortical initials. Although these variations were interpreted as being ontogenetic, there was no total reorganization of the root apex. There was anatomical and cytological evidence that a quiescent center is established in Linum roots.  相似文献

Tomato roots with brown root rot showed three types of lesion: cortical rot of fine roots, 'corky root', and basal stem rot. The fungi most commonly isocated from diseased roots were: Colletotrichum atramentarium, Chaetomium spp., Cephalosporium spp., Volutella ciliata , and a grey mycelial fungus sometimes producing pycnidia ( Pyrenochaeta sp.). Other fungi isocated less frequently were: Myrothecium roridum, Petriella asymmetrica, Trichoderma airide, Phytophthora spp., Alternaria sp. and Fusarium spp. There were differences between the numbers of each species isocated from the three types of lesion in steamed and in unsteamed soils, and some seasonal variation.
Inoculation experiments with seedlings in vitro showed that Ckaetomium cochliodes and Petriella asymmetrica could infect radicles. On older plants growing in soil Colletotrichum atramentarium was the only effective pathogen. Culture filtrates from C. atramentarium, Chaetomium cochliodes , and P. asymmetrica decreased root growth when tested in vitro. Leachates from loam and a loam-manure mixture decreased the growth of tomato root-tip cultures; the effect of these leachates was altered by autoclaving.  相似文献

Population counts and nutritional grouping of bacteria from a tomato-sick soil showed that steaming greatly reduced the population and the percentage of group I bacteria (i.e. those able to use inorganic nitrogen). The numbers subsequently increased, and by the time tomatoes were planted, the distribution of nutritional groups approximated to that in unsteamed soil. Rhizosphere and root-surface population numbers did not differ widely in steamed and unsteamed soils. The nutritional groups in soil before planting differed much more between samples from steamed soil with a changing population, than from soil unsteamed for 3 years. Groups I and II (bacteria requiring amino acids) were higher in unsteamed, cropped soil than in steamed soil, and were dominant in rhizosphere and root-surface populations. Group I increased on the root surface in unsteamed soil from July to October, whereas group II increased on root surfaces in steamed soil. Group V (bacteria requiring soil extract) was less frequent on the root surface than in soil from plots unsteamed for 1 year, but more frequent on the root surface than in soil unsteamed for 3 years.  相似文献

<正> Inspired by Dr. Tom Rich's letter inquiring the structure of the roots of tritylodont cheekteeth, we initiated this study. At first, only several isolated teeth were exposed. Later on, jaws and partial skull carrying the dentition have been included.The generic identification of the materials is based mainly on the morphology of the upper postcanine crowns. Among the four genera dealt with in this work, Yunnanodon is unique in having a cusp formula of 2-3-2:2 buccal, 3 median and 2 lingual cusps. From the smaller and a little medially situated posterior cusp of the lingual row, Lufengia could be separated from the other two genera.Bienotheroides is supposed to be distinguished by a cusp formula of 2-2-2, as those in the later tritylodonts: Stereognathus, Bocatherium, etc. However, in fact, this cusp pattern exists only in the type species, B. wanhsienensis. Another species, B. zigongensis from a lower horizon, namely, Lower Shaximiao Formation of Sichuan and Wucaiwan Formation of Xinjiang, possesses a cusp formula of 2-3-3, much similar to that of Bienotherium. Consequently, the localities and horizons are taken as a measure of discriminating those specimens with similar crown pattern, especially the lower postcanine teeth.  相似文献

低浓度的CaCl2对小麦种根生长、根毛发生和生长无明显影响,高浓度的CaCl2(0.1mol/L)对种根和根毛生长有抑制作用,但不影响根毛的发生。Ca2+专一性螯合剂EGTA抑制种根生长和根毛的发生及生长,添加一定浓度的外源CaCl2,这种抑制作用可被消除。CaM抑制剂TFP(三氟拉嗪)和CPZ(氯丙嗪)对种根生长、根毛发生和生长均有抑制作用,添加外源CaM可减弱或消除这种抑制作用。  相似文献

 在塔克拉玛干沙漠腹地, 采用挖掘法挖取塔克拉玛干柽柳(Tamarix taklamakanensis)、塔克拉玛干沙拐枣(Calligonum roborovskii)和罗布麻(Apocynum venetum )根系, 对根系的拓扑结构特征进行了测定与分析。结果表明: 1) 3种植物根系均以水平分布占优势, 根系浅层化。2) 3种植物根系结构的适应性不同, 表现为两种不同的根系分支模式, 塔克拉玛干柽柳根系为叉状分支结构(qa=0.15、qb=0.09、TI=0.658), 罗布麻(qa=0.43、qb=0.35、TI=0. 83)和沙拐枣(qa=0.52、qb=0.38、TI=0.86)根系趋向于鱼尾形分支结构。3) 3种植物根系的连接长度都较大, 最小也达1.12 m, 说明在塔克拉玛干沙漠腹地, 3种植物通过增加连接长度来扩大根系在土层中的分布范围, 从而提高根系的有效营养空间, 增加根系连接长度是根系对沙漠腹地贫瘠土壤环境的一个良好适应。4)研究验证了Leonardo da Vinci法则, 即根系分支前的横截面积等于根系分支后的横截面积之和, 3种植物根系分支前后的横截面积符合Leonardo da Vinci法则。研究表明沙漠腹地3种植物根系构型特征既有相似性又有差异性, 在相似的沙漠环境中具有不同的根系适应策略。  相似文献

Echinochloa phyllopogon was grown hydroponically under four root zone gassing treatments to determine aeration effects on the growth and development of the plant root system. Although mesocotyl growth and the number of nodal roots were unaffected by the treatments, other aspects of plant growth were altered. Shoot growth was reduced by hypoxic (5 kPa partial pressure O2 in nitrogen gas) and anoxic conditions (O2 free nitrogen gas), but not by ethylene (0.1 ppm in air). Seminal root growth was unaffected by hypoxia or ethylene treatments, but was reduced under anoxia. Hypoxic environments stimulated the emergence of roots along the length of the mesocotyl when compared to aerobic controls; anoxic and ethylene treatments had no significant effects. Mesocotyl roots elongated from primordia that were produced de novo in response to the hypoxic treatment. Under hypoxic conditions, aerenchyma was present in the cortex of nodal roots and to a lesser extent in seminal roots, but mesocotyl roots were devoid of aerenchyma under these conditions. The results are compared with the literature concerning flooding and aeration effects on growth and development in other species.  相似文献

细根直径大小和根序高低对细根寿命和周转估计具有重要的影响,研究不同根序之间的直径变异对认识细根直径与根序的关系具有重要意义。该文根据Pregitzer等(2002)提供的方法,研究了位于东北林业大学帽儿山实验林场尖砬沟森林培育实验站17年生水曲柳(Fraxinus mandshurica)和落叶松(Larix gmelinii)人工林细根1~5级根序的平均直径的变化、直径的最小值和最大值范围、直径的变异系数。结果表明,水曲柳和落叶松细根直径<2 mm时,包含5个根序,随着根序由小到大的增加,细根直径也在增大。各根序平均直径之间,存在较大的差异。在同一根序内,细根直径范围很大,水曲柳和落叶松一级根最小直径均<0.20 mm,最大直径分别<0.50 mm(水曲柳)和<0.70 mm(落叶松)左右。2~3级根序直径最小值在0.20~0.30 mm之间,最大值≤1.0 mm。5级根直径最小值<1.0 mm,最大值超过2.0 mm。随着根序等级增加,直径变异系数增大。一级根序的直径平均变异系数<10%,2~3级根序直径平均变异系数在10%~15%左右,4~5级根序直径的平均变异系数在20%~30%之间。因此,在细根寿命与周转研究过程中,必须同时考虑直径和根序对细根的寿命估计的影响。  相似文献
