In order to investigate the effect of chromosome doubling on ozone tolerance, we compared the physiological responses of a diploid honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb.) and its autotetraploid cultivar to elevated ozone (O3) exposure (70 ng g−1, 7 h d−1 for 31 d). Net photosynthetic rate (P N) of both cultivars were drastically (P<0.01) impaired by O3. Although there were significantly positive correlation between P N and stomatal conductance (g s) in both cultivars under each treatment, the decreased g s in O3 might be the result rather than the cause of decreased P N as indicated by stable or increasing the ratio of intercellular to ambient CO2 concentration(C i/C a). P N under saturating CO2 concentration (P Nsat) and carboxylation efficiency (CE) significantly decreased under O3 fumigation, which indicated the Calvin cycle was impaired. O3 also inhibited the maximum efficiency of photosystem II (PSII) photochemistry in the dark-adapted state (Fv/Fm), actual quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (ΦPSII), electron transport rate (ETR), photochemical quenching coefficient (qP), non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), the maximum in vivo rate of Rubisco carboxylation (Vcmax) and the maximal photosynthetic electron transport rate (Jmax) which demonstrated that the decrease in P N of the honeysuckle exposed to elevated O3 was probably not only due to impairment of Calvin cycle but also with respect to the light-harvesting and electron transport processes. Compared to the diploid, the tetraploid had higher relative loss in transpiration rate (E), (g s), (P Nsat), Vcmax and Jmax. This result indicated that the Calvin cycle and electron transport in tetraploid was damaged more seriously than in diploid. A barely nonsignificant (P=0.086) interaction between O3 and cultivar on P N suggested a higher photosynthetic sensitivity of the tetraploid cultivar.  相似文献

The relationship between O2-based gross photosynthesis (GP) and in vivo chlorophyll fluorescence of Photosystem II-based electron transport rate (ETR) as well as the relationship between effective quantum yield of fluorescence (ΦPSII) and quantum yield of oxygen evolution (ΦO_2) were examined in the green algae Ulva rotundata and Ulva olivascens and the red alga Porphyra leucosticta collected from the field and incubated for 3 days at 100 μmol m−2 s−1 in nutrient enriched seawater. Maximal GP was twice as high in Ulva species than that measured in P. leucosticta. In all species ETR was saturated at much higher irradiance than GP. The initial slope of ETR versus absorbed irradiance was higher than that of GP versus absorbed irradiance. Only under absorbed irradiances below saturation or at values of GP <2 μmol O2 m−2 s−1 a linear relationship was observed. In the linear phase, calculated O2 evolved /ETR molar ratios were closed to the theoretical value of 0.25 in Ulva species. In P. leucosticta, the estimated GP was associated to the estimated ETR only at high irradiances. ETR was determined under white light, red light emitting by diodes and solar radiation. In Ulva species the maximal ETR was reached under red light and solar radiation whereas in P. leucosticta the maximal ETR was reached under white light and minimal under red light. These results are in agreement with the known action spectra for photosynthesis in these species. In the case of P. leucosticta, GP and ETR were additionally determined under saturating irradiance in algae pre-incubated for one week under white light at different irradiances and at white light (100 μmol m−2 s−1) enriched with far-red light. GP and growth rate increased at a growth irradiance of 500 μmol m−2 s−1 becoming photoinhibited at higher irradiances, while ETR increased when algae were exposed to the highest growth irradiance applied (2000 μmol m−2 s−1). The calculated O2 evolved /ETR molar ratios were close to the theoretical value of 0.25 when algae were pre-incubated under 500–1000 μmol m−2 s−1. The enrichment by FR light provoked a decrease in both GP and ETR and an increase of nonphotochemical quenching although the irradiance of PAR was maintained at a constant level. In addition to C assimilation, other electron sinks, such as nitrogen assimilation, affected the GP–ETR relationship. The slopes of GP versus ETR or ΦPSII versus ΦO_2 were lower in the algae with the highest N assimilation capacity, estimated as nitrate reductase activity and internal nitrogen contents, i.e., Ulva rotundata and Porphyra leucosticta, than that observed in U. olivascens. The possible mechanisms to explain this discrepancy between GP and ETR are discussed. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Little is known about the response of trees to elevated ozone (O3) in the subtropical region of China, where ambient O3 concentrations are high enough to damage plants. In this study, pigment content, gas exchange and chlorophyll (Chl) a fluorescence in leaves of Liriodendron chinense (Hemsl.) Sarg seedlings, a deciduous broadleaf tree species native in subtropical regions, were investigated at 15, 40, and 58 days after O3 fumigation (DAF) at a concentration of 150 mm3 m−3 (E-O3). At the end of experiment, seedlings were harvested for biomass measurement. E-O3 caused visible injuries on the mature leaves e.g. necrotic patches and accelerated early defoliation. Relative to the charcoal-filtered air (CF) treatment, E-O3 significantly decreased shoot and root biomass, pigment content, light-saturated net photosynthesis (P Nsat), stomatal conductance (g s), maximum rate of carboxylation (Vcmax), photochemical quenching coefficient (qp) and effective quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (ΦPSII), and also caused a slight reduction in relative increase of basal diameter. Therefore, L. chinense can be assumed to be an O3-sensitive tree species, which will be threatened by increasing ambient O3 concentrations in China.  相似文献

The effects of elevated growth temperature (ambient + 3.5°C) and CO2 (700 μmol mol−1) on leaf photosynthesis, pigments and chlorophyll fluorescence of a boreal perennial grass (Phalaris arundinacea L.) under different water regimes (well watered to water shortage) were investigated. Layer-specific measurements were conducted on the top (younger leaf) and low (older leaf) canopy positions of the plants after anthesis. During the early development stages, elevated temperature enhanced the maximum rate of photosynthesis (P max) of the top layer leaves and the aboveground biomass, which resulted in earlier senescence and lower photosynthesis and biomass at the later periods. At the stage of plant maturity, the content of chlorophyll (Chl), leaf nitrogen (NL), and light response of effective photochemical efficiency (ΦPSII) and electron transport rate (ETR) was significantly lower under elevated temperature than ambient temperature in leaves at both layers. CO2 enrichment enhanced the photosynthesis but led to a decline of NL and Chl content, as well as lower fluorescence parameters of ΦPSII and ETR in leaves at both layers. In addition, the down-regulation by CO2 elevation was significant at the low canopy position. Regardless of climate treatment, the water shortage had a strongly negative effect on the photosynthesis, biomass growth, and fluorescence parameters, particularly in the leaves from the low canopy position. Elevated temperature exacerbated the impact of water shortage, while CO2 enrichment slightly alleviated the drought-induced adverse effects on P max. We suggest that the light response of ΦPSII and ETR, being more sensitive to leaf-age classes, reflect the photosynthetic responses to climatic treatments and drought stress better than the fluorescence parameters under dark adaptation.  相似文献

To investigate whether brassinosteroids (BRs) could be used to alleviate chill-induced inhibition of photosynthesis in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L) during chilling and subsequent recovery, the effects of exogenously applied 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) on gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, and antioxidant enzyme activity were studied. Cucumber plants were exposed to chilling under low light (12/8°C and 100 μmol m−2 s−1 PPFD) for 3 days and then recovered under normal temperature and high irradiance (28/18°C and 600 μmol m−2 s−1 PPFD) for 6 days. Chilling significantly decreased the net photosynthetic rate (P N) and stomatal conductance (g s), and increased rate of O2 ·− formation and H2O2 and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in cucumber leaves, but did not influence the optimal quantum yield of PSII (Fv/Fm). Chilling also decreased the effective quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (ΦPSII) and photochemical quenching (qP), but induced an increase in nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ), and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX). High irradiance (600 μmol m−2 s−1) further aggravated the decrease in P N, g s, ΦPSII and qP, and enhanced the increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and accumulation in the first day of recovery after chilling. However, high irradiance induced a sharp decrease in Fv/Fm and NPQ, as well as the activities of SOD and APX on the first day of recovery. EBR pretreatment significantly alleviated chill-induced inhibition of photosynthesis during chilling stress and subsequent recovery period, which was mainly due to significant increases in g s, ΦPSII, qP and NPQ. EBR pretreatment also reduced ROS generation and accumulation, and increased the activities of SOD and APX during chilling and subsequent recovery. Those results suggest that EBR pretreatment alleviates the chill reduction in photosynthesis and accelerated the recovery rate mainly by increasing of the stomatal conductance, the efficiency of utilization and dissipation of leaf absorbed light, and the activity of the ROS scavenging system during chilling and subsequent recovery period.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to elucidate the genetic relationship between the specific leaf area (SLA) and the photosynthetic performance of maize (Zea mays L.) as dependent on growth temperature. Three sets of genotypes: (i) 19 S5 inbred lines, divergently selected for high or low operating efficiency of photosystem II (ΦPSII) at low temperature, (ii) a population of 226 F2:3 families from the cross of ETH-DL3 × ETH-DH7, and (iii) a population of 168 F2:4 families from the cross of Lo964 × Lo1016 were tested at low (15/13 °C day/night) or at optimal (25/22 °C day/night) temperature. The latter cross was originally developed to study QTLs for root traits. At 15/13 °C the groups of S5 inbred lines selected for high or low ΦPSII differed significantly for all the measured traits, while at optimal temperature the groups differed only with regard to leaf greenness (SPAD). At low temperature, the SLA of these inbred lines was negatively correlated with ΦPSII (r = − 0.56, p < 0.05) and SPAD (r = − 0.80, p < 0.001). This negative relationship was confirmed by mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) in the two mapping populations. A co-location of three QTLs for SLA with QTLs for photosynthesis-related traits was detected in both populations at 15/13 °C, while co-location was not detected at 25/22 °C. The co-selection of SLA and ΦPSII in the inbred lines and the co-location of QTL for SLA, SPAD, and ΦPSII at 15/13 °C in the QTL populations strongly supports pleiotropy. There was no evidence that selecting for high ΦPSII at low temperature leads to a constitutively altered SLA.  相似文献

Seedling performance may determine plant distribution, especially in water-limited environments. Plants of Caragana korshinskii commonly grow in arid and semiarid areas in northwestern China, and endure water shortage in various ways, but little is known about their performance when water shortage occurs at early growth stages. The water relations, photosynthetic activity, chlorophyll (Chl) content and proline accumulation were determined in 1-year-old seedlings growing in a 1:1 mixture of Loess soil and Perlite and subjected to (1) a water deficit for 20 days and (2) kept adequately watered throughout. The water deficit induced low (−6.1 MPa) predawn leaf water potentials (LWP), but did not induce any leaf abscission. Stomatal conductance (g s), leaf transpiration rate (E), and net photosynthetic rate (P N) decreased immediately following the imposition of the water deficit, while the maximal photochemical efficiency of photosystem II (PSII) (Fv/Fm) and the effective quantum yield of PSII (ΦPSII) decreased 15 days later. An early and rapid decrease in g s, reduced E, increased Chl (a+b) loss, increased the apparent rate of photochemical transport of electrons through PSII (ETR)/P N, as well as a gradual increase in non-photochemical quenching of fluorescence (NPQ) and proline may have contributed to preventing ΦPSII from photodamage. C. korshinskii seedlings used a stress-tolerance strategy, with leaf maintenance providing a clear selective advantage, considering the occasional rainfall events during the growing season.  相似文献

Predicted future climatic changes for the Mediterranean region give additional importance to the study of photooxidative stress in local economic species subjected to combined drought and high-temperature conditions. Under this context, the impact of these stresses on photosynthesis, energy partitioning, and membrane lipids, as well as the potential ability to attenuate oxidative damage, were investigated in Ceratonia siliqua L. Two thermal regimes (LT: 25/18°C; HT: 32/21°C) and three soil water conditions (control, water stress, and rewetting) were considered. HT exacerbated the adverse effects of water shortage on photosynthetic rates (P N) and PSII function. The decrease in P N was 33% at LT whereas at HT it was 84%. In spite of this, the electron transport rate (ETR) was not affected, which points to an increased allocation of reductants to sinks other than CO2 assimilation. Under LT conditions, water stress had no significant effects on yield of PSII photochemistry (ΦPSII) and yields of regulated (ΦNPQ) and nonregulated (ΦNO) energy dissipation. Conversely, drought induced a significant decrease of ΦPSII and a concomitant increase of ΦNO in HT plants, thereby favouring the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Moreover, signs of lipid peroxidation damage were detected in HT plants, in which drought caused an increase of 40% in malondialdehyde (MDA) content. Concurrently, a marked increase in proline content was observed, while the activities of catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) were unaffected. Despite the generation of a moderate oxidative stress response, C. siliqua revealed a great capability for photosynthetic recovery 36 h after rewatering, which suggests that the species can cope with predicted climate change.  相似文献

Filtrates from crushed Moringa oleifera seeds were tested for their effects on growth and Photosystem II efficiency of the common bloom-forming cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa. M. aeruginosa populations exhibited good growth in controls and treatments with 4- and 8-mg crushed Moringa seeds per liter, having similar growth rates of 0.50 (±0.01) per day. In exposures of 20- to 160-mg crushed Moringa seeds L−1, growth rates were negative and on average −0.23 (±0.05) .day−1. Presumably, in the higher doses of 20- to 160-mg crushed seeds per liter, the cyanobacteria died, which was supported by a rapid drop in the Photosystem II efficiency (ΦPSII), while the ΦPSII was high and unaffected in 0, 4, and 8 mg L−1. High-density populations of M. aeruginosa (chlorophyll-a concentrations of ∼270 μg L−1) were reduced to very low levels within 2 weeks of exposure to ≥80-mg crushed seeds per liter. At the highest dosage of 160 mg L−1, the ΦPSII dropped to zero rapidly and remained nil during the course of the experiment (14 days). Hence, under laboratory conditions, a complete wipeout of the bloom could be achieved. This is the first study that yielded evidence for cyanobactericidal activity of filtrate from crushed Moringa seeds, suggesting that Moringa seed extracts might have a potential as an effect-oriented measure lessening cyanobacterial nuisance.  相似文献

Six months old in vitro-grown Anoectochilus formosanus plantlets were transferred to ex-vitro acclimation under low irradiance, LI [60 μmol(photon) m−2 s−1], intermediate irradiance, II [180 μmol(photon) m−2 s−1], and high irradiance, HI [300 μmol(photon) m−2 s−1] for 30 d. Imposition of II led to a significant increase of chlorophyll (Chl) b content, rates of net photosynthesis (P N) and transpiration (E), stomatal conductance (g s), electron transfer rate (ETR), quantum yield of electron transport from water through photosystem 2 (ΦPS2), and activity of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/ oxygenase (RuBPCO, EC 4.1.1.39). This indicates that Anoectochilus was better acclimated at II compared to LI treatment. On the other hand, HI acclimation led to a significant reduction of Chl a and b, P N, E, g s, photochemical quenching, dark-adapted quantum efficiency of open PS2 centres (Fv/Fm), probability of an absorbed photon reaching an open PS2 reaction centre (Fv′/Fm′), ETR, ΦPS2, and energy efficiency of CO2 fixation (ΦCO2PS2). This indicates that HI treatment considerably exceeded the photo-protective capacity and Anoectochilus suffered HI induced damage to the photosynthetic apparatus. Imposition of HI significantly increased the contents of antheraxanthin and zeaxanthin (ZEA), non-photochemical quenching, and conversion of violaxanthin to ZEA. Thus Anoectochilus modifies its system to dissipate excess excitation energy and to protect the photosynthetic machinery.  相似文献

This work aimed to evaluate if gas exchange and PSII photochemical activity in maize are affected by different irradiance levels during short-term exposure to elevated CO2. For this purpose gas exchange and chlorophyll a fluorescence were measured on maize plants grown at ambient CO2 concentration (control CO2) and exposed for 4 h to short-term treatments at 800 μmol(CO2) mol−1 (high CO2) at a photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) of either 1,000 μmol m−2 s−1 (control light) or 1,900 μmol m−2 s−1 (high light). At control light, high-CO2 leaves showed a significant decrease of net photosynthetic rate (P N) and a rise in the ratio of intercellular to ambient CO2 concentration (C i/C a) and water-use efficiency (WUE) compared to control CO2 leaves. No difference between CO2 concentrations for PSII effective photochemistry (ΦPSII), photochemical quenching (qp) and nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ) was detected. Under high light, high-CO2 leaves did not differ in P N, C i/C a, ΦPSII and NPQ, but showed an increase of WUE. These results suggest that at control light photosynthetic apparatus is negatively affected by high CO2 concentration in terms of carbon gain by limitations in photosynthetic dark reaction rather than in photochemistry. At high light, the elevated CO2 concentration did not promote an increase of photosynthesis and photochemistry but only an improvement of water balance due to increased WUE.  相似文献

Direct comparisons between photosynthetic O2 evolution rate and electron transport rate (ETR) were made in situ over 24 h using the benthic macroalga Ulva lactuca (Chlorophyta), growing and measured at a depth of 1.8 m, where the midday irradiance rose to 400–600 μmol photons m−2 s−1. O2 exchange was measured with a 5-chamber data-logging apparatus and ETR with a submersible pulse amplitude modulated (PAM) fluorometer (Diving-PAM). Steady-state quantum yield ((Fm′−Ft)/Fm′) decreased from 0.7 during the morning to 0.45 at midday, followed by some recovery in the late afternoon. At low to medium irradiances (0–300 μmol photons m−2 s−1), there was a significant correlation between O2 evolution and ETR, but at higher irradiances, ETR continued to increase steadily, while O2 evolution tended towards an asymptote. However at high irradiance levels (600–1200 μmol photons m−2 s−1) ETR was significantly lowered. Two methods of measuring ETR, based on either diel ambient light levels and fluorescence yields or rapid light curves, gave similar results at low to moderate irradiance levels. Nutrient enrichment (increases in [NO3 ], [NH4 +] and [HPO4 2-] of 5- to 15-fold over ambient concentrations) resulted in an increase, within hours, in photosynthetic rates measured by both ETR and O2 evolution techniques. At low irradiances, approximately 6.5 to 8.2 electrons passed through PS II during the evolution of one molecule of O2, i.e., up to twice the theoretical minimum number of four. However, in nutrient-enriched treatments this ratio dropped to 5.1. The results indicate that PAM fluorescence can be used as a good indication of the photosynthetic rate only at low to medium irradiances. Citrus volkameriana (L.) plants were grown for 43 d in nutrient solutions containing 0, 2, 14, 98, or 686 μM Mn (Mn0, Mn2, Mn14, Mn98, and Mn686, respectively). To adequately investigate the combined effects of Mn nutrition and irradiance on photosystem 2 (PS2) activity, irradiance response curves for electron transport rate (ETR), nonphotochemical quenching (qN), photochemical quenching (qP), and real photochemical efficiency of PS2 (ΦPS2) were recorded under 10 different irradiances (66, 96, 136, 226, 336, 536, 811, 1 211, 1 911, and 3 111 μmol m−2 s−1, I66 to I3111, respectively) generated with the PAM-2000 fluorometer. Leaf chlorophyll content was significantly lower under Mn excess (Mn686) compared to Mn0; its highest values were recorded in the treatments Mn2-Mn98. However, ETR and ΦPS2 values were significantly lower under Mn0 compared to the other Mn treatments, when plants were exposed to irradiances ≥96 μmol m−2 s−1. Furthermore, Mn0 plants had significantly higher values of qN and lower values of qP at irradiances ≤226 and ≥336 μmol m−2 s−1, respectively, than those grown under Mn2-Mn686. Irrespective of Mn treatment, the values of ΦPS2 and qN decreased, while those of qP increased progressively by increasing irradiance from I136 to I3111. Finally, Mn2-Mn98 plants were less sensitive to photoinhibition of photosynthesis (≥811 μmol m−2 s−1) than the Mn686 (≥536 μmol m−2 s−1) and Mn0 (≥336 μmol m−2 s−1) ones.  相似文献

Chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence of warm day/cool night temperature exposed Phalaenopsis plants was measured hourly during 48 h to study the simultaneous temperature and irradiance response of the photosynthetic physiology. The daily pattern of fluorescence kinetics showed abrupt changes of photochemical quenching (qP), non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) and quantum yield of photosystem II electron transport (ΦPSII) upon transition from day to night and vice versa. During the day, the course of ΦPSII and NPQ was related to the air temperature pattern, while maximum quantum efficiency of PSII photochemistry (Fv/Fm) revealed a rather light dependent response. Information on these daily dynamics in fluorescence kinetics is important with respect to meaningful data collection and interpretation.  相似文献

To investigate how excess excitation energy is dissipated in a ribulose-1,5-bisphospate carboxylase/oxygenase activase antisense transgenic rice with net photosynthetic rate (P N) half of that of wild type parent, we measured the response curve of P N to intercellular CO2 concentration (C i), electron transport rate (ETR), quantum yield of open photosystem 2 (PS2) reaction centres under irradiation (Fv′/Fm′), efficiency of total PS2 centres (ΦPS2), photochemical (qP) and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), post-irradiation transient increase in chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence (PITICF), and P700+ re-reduction. Carboxylation efficiency dependence on C i, ETR at saturation irradiance, and Fv′/Fm′, ΦPS2, and qP under the irradiation were significantly lower in the mutant. However, NPQ, energy-dependent quenching (qE), PITICF, and P700+ re-reduction were significantly higher in the mutant. Hence the mutant down-regulates linear ETR and stimulates cyclic electron flow around PS1, which may generate the ΔpH to support NPQ and qE for dissipation of excess excitation energy.  相似文献

An open-top chamber experiment was carried out from April through October 2006 to examine the effects of elevated (80 nmol mol−1) atmospheric O3 on Ginkgo biloba (4-years-old) in urban area. The air with ambient O3 (AA, ≈ 45 nmol mol−1) was used as control. The leaf mass and size, leaf area index, net photosynthetic rate (P N), apparent quantum yield, transpiration rate, and stomatal conductance were decreased by elevated O3 (EO) exposure. Visible foliar injury, which is light-brown flecks, was observed in the EO OTCs after 90 d of exposure. Carboxylation efficiency (ΦCO2) and photorespiration and dark respiration rates were enhanced by EO exposure in the first half of the season, but all of them turned to be lower than those of the AA control at the end of experiment. Stomata limitation of photosynthesis was significantly higher than control in the whole season (p<0.05). Chlorophyll (Chl) content was lower in EO variant than in the control and the difference became more and more apparent through the season. Hence the decrease in P N of G. biloba exposed to EO was the result of both stomatal and non-stomatal limitations. In the early season, the inhibition of photosynthesis was mainly caused by the stomatal limitation, and the earliest response was photoprotective down-regulation of photosynthesis but not photodamage. However, at the end of the season, the non-stomatal limiting factors such as decrease in Chl content, decrease in ΦCO2, and anti-oxidative enzyme activity became more important.  相似文献

Detached leaves of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) experienced photoinhibition associated with sharp reductions in net photosynthetic rate (Pn), quantum efficiency of PSII (ΦPSII) and photochemical quenching (qP) even though they were exposed to mild light intensity (400 μmol m−2 s−1 PPFD) at 28°C. Photoinhibition and the reduction in Pn, ΦPSII and qP, however, were significantly alleviated by 1 mg l−1 ABA, 0.1 mg l−1 N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N′-phenylurea (CPPU) and 0.01 mg l−1 24-epibrassinolide (EBR). Higher concentrations, however, reduced the effects or even exacerbated the occurrence of photoinhibition. Superoxide dismutase and ascorbate peroxidase activity in leaves increased with the increases in ABA concentration within 1–100 mg l−1, CPPU concentration within 0.1–10 mg l−1 and EBR concentration within 0.01–1.0 mg l−1. Catalase and guaiacol peroxidase activity also increased with the increase in EBR concentration but CPPU and ABA treatments at higher concentrations caused a decrease. Malondialdehyde (MDA) content decreased with the increase in CPPU concentration. ABA and EBR, however, decreased MDA concentration only at 1 and 0.01 mg l−1, respectively. In conclusion, detached leaves had increased sensitivity to PSII photoinhibition. Photoinhibition-induced decrease in photosynthesis, however, was significantly alleviated by EBR, CPPU and ABA at a proper concentration.  相似文献

Antioxidant enzymes in chloroplasts and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of leaves of Puccinellia tenuiflora (Turcz.) scribn.et Merr. under isotonic Na2CO3 and NaCl stresses were studied. Ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities showed a similar increasing trend and then decreased with the decreasing osmotic potential of culture solution, peaking at −4.74 × 105 Pa under NaCl stress and at −3.40 × 105 Pa under Na2CO3 stress. APX, glutathione transferase and SOD activities were higher under NaCl stress than those under Na2CO3 stress, and higher activities of antioxidant enzymes in chloroplasts were accompanied by lower MDA content under NaCl stress. F v/F m, F v/F o and F v′/F m′ all initially increased and then decreased with the decreasing osmotic potential of culture solution, while Φ PSII, qNP and HDR showed a constant increase. F v/F m, F v/F o, Φ PSII and qNP under NaCl stress were also shown to be higher than those under Na2CO3 stress. The present study suggested that acidity played an important role in the hurt toPuccinellia tenuiflora seedlings, which was due to higher activities of antioxidant enzymes, qNP and Φ PSII, and the Na2CO3 resistance to Puccinellia tenuiflora was also supposed to be less than NaCl resistance in present work.  相似文献

The seeds of soybean cv. Aldana and spring wheat cv. Torka were soaked for 24 h in solution of zearalenone [ZEN, 2,4-dihydroxy-6-(10-hydroxy-6-oxo-trans-1-undecenyl)-benzonic acid lactone, 4 mg dm−3] and then they were sown in the pot experiment in an open vegetation hall. The after-effects of ZEN on growth of plants, net photosynthetic (P N) and transpiration (E) rates, stomatal conductance (g s), photochemical efficiency of photosystem II (PSII) and on final seeds yield, were determined. A significant increase of seeds yield was revealed in plants of both cultivars i.e. by 22% and 19% of seed (grain) number and by 28 and 24% of seed (grain) mass, in soybean and in wheat, respectively. The photosynthetic rate (P N) was stimulated during the juvenile and final phase by about 13.6% (average) in soybean plants. During other developmental stages, assimilation of CO2 was retarded. The response of CO2 assimilation in wheat plants was less pronounced as compared to that in soybean, but an increase of P N by over 24% near the final stage of development was observed. The quantum yield of PSII electron transport (ΦPSII) in soybean plants was changed after the treatment of seeds by ZEN similarly as for the rate of CO2, whereas in wheat it continued to gradually increase i.e. during the whole growth period. Changes of ΦPSII both in soybean and in wheat plants, as the response to ZEN treatment, were accompanied with an increase in the efficiency of changes occurring within the antenna (Fv′/Fm′) as well as within centres of photochemical reactions (qp). The conclusion is that ZEN can affect plant growth and development in many ways, as well as in the status and functioning of the photosynthetical apparatus. Some of the effects can be very longlasting, as e.g. stimulation of production of seed yield in response to treatment of seeds with this substance.  相似文献
