Cleome socotrana (Capparaceae) and allied species in the Horn of Africa region

Four species of Cleome with small flowers, 6 stamens, petals without appendages, spreading to erect capsules, and hairy seeds, are recognized in the Horn of Africa region: C. socotrana in the Socotra archipelago (Yemen), C. hadramautica , sp. nov., in southern Yemen, C. omanensis , comb, nov., in the Mahrah Region of Yemen and in Oman, and C. albescens in northern Somalia. C. socotrana is lectotypified and a key to the species treated is provided.     

Parapsylla, a Gondwanan element in the psyllid fauna of southern Africa (Homoptera)

The genus Parapsylla (Homoptera: Psylloidea) is redescribed and placed in the Diaphorininae of the Family Aphalaridae. Its relationships within this subfamily are discussed. The genus Agmapsylla syn. nov. is placed into the synonymy of Parapsylla , and Pennavena syn. nov. and Eudiaphorina syn. nov. are placed into the synonymy of Diaphorina. The eight known species of Parapsylla are distributed in southern Africa and upland areas of East Africa. Host plant relationships are not clearly established but the genus appears to be associated with species of Maytenus (Celastraceae), Olinia (Oliniaceae) and possibly Olea (Oleaceae) and Syzygium (Myrtaceae). Parapsylla relicta syn. nov, and A. aureus syn. nov. are placed into the synonymy of Arytaina capensis. Parapsylla capensis comb. nov. is transferred from Arytaina, Parapsylla valens comb. nov. is transferred from Diaphorina , and the following new species are described: P. angolensis sp. nov., P. eafra sp. nov., P. huila sp. nov., P. marginipennis sp. nov., P. rufa sp. nov. and P. theroni sp. nov.     

A revision of the genus Drimia (Hyacinthaceae) in East Africa

The generic delimitation of Drimia and Urginea is discussed with special reference to flower and seed morphology (LM & SEM). The data support the joining of the two into one genus, Drimia. The following taxa are represented in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda): Drimia altissima, D. brachystachys comb, nov., D. calcarata comb, nov., D. congesta, D. elata, D. indica, D. macrocarpa sp. nov., and D. porphyrantha comb. nov.     

Additions to the foliicolous lichen flora of the Ivory Coast and Guinea (Tropical West Africa)

Four new foliicolous lichen species are described from the Ivory Coast (Tropical West Africa): Bapalmuia ivoriensis sp. nov., Chroodiscus africanus sp. nov., C. verrucosus sp. nov., and Lasioloma inexspectatum sp. nov. In addition, the new combination Calenia inconspicua comb, nova [Bas.: Heterothecium inconspicuum] is introduced. Lasioloma inexspectatum is the first species in the genus characterized by transversely septate ascospores and provides additional evidence for phylogenetic lines regarding the evolution of ascospore types in the lichen family Ectolechiaceae. In addition, 61 new records for the Ivory Coast and seven for Guinea are presented, increasing the number of species known in these areas to 161 and 124, respectively. Five species are new for tropical Africa, and six new for the Paleotropics. Further taxonomical and ecogeographical notes on the foliicolous lichen flora of tropical West Africa are provided.     

Calliandra (Leguminosae) in continental Africa

The mainly neotropical genus Calliandra Benth. (Leguminosae–Mimosoideae–Ingeae) is reported for the first time as native in continental Africa. There are two species known, C. gilbertii Thulin & Hunde sp. nov. in E Kenya and Somalia and C. redacta (J. H. Ross) Thulin & Hunde comb. nov. in South Africa near the Namibia border. On pollen morphological grounds they are supposed to be most related to certain neotropical species but the pollen does not agree entirely with any previously known group of the genus. The distribution of C gilbertii and C. redacta stresses the phytogeographical link between the arid zones of northern and southern Africa.

本文记述中国潜叶蜂族Fenusini6属8种,其中包括2新属6新种及4新组合种：大眼郑潜叶蜂Zhenginamegommagen．etsp．nov,吕氏华潜叶蜂Sinofeunsaluigen．etsp．nov,黑鳞丝潜叶蜂Messanigrotegulasp．nov,痕缝脊潜叶蜂Parnavestigialissp．nov,沟缝脊潜叶蜂Parnadistinctasp．nov,黄首原潜叶蜂Profenusaxanthocephalasp．nov．;槭树雅潜叶蜂Anafsnusaacericola（Xiao1992）comb．nov。恢复臀潜叶蜂属AfusaMalaise,将ParafenusaZhelochovtsev（1976）降为AfusaMalaise1964的次异名,原Paarafenusa属下的种类移入Afusa属,建立3个新组合：Afusapruni（Zhelochovtsev1976）comb．nov,Afusacerasi（Zhelochovtsev1976）comb．nov,Afusamaharibiana（Zhelochovtsev1976）comb．nov。新属新种附有主要形态特征图。文中还编制了潜叶蜂族的已知底检索表和Profenusa,Anafeausa,Parna属的已知种检索表。雅潜叶蜂属Anafenusa和脊潜叶蜂属Parna为中国新纪录属。迄今,潜叶蜂族已知24属约60种;中国已记述12属22种。     

A new gnetalean pollen genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Chomsiipites</Emphasis> from cretaceous deposits of the eastern mediterranean

Four species of a new genus, Chomsiipites—Ch. libanicus sp. nov., Ch. pyriformis sp. nov., Ch. dzyubae sp. nov., and Ch. zaklinskaiae (Azèma et Boltenhagen) comb. nov.—are described from the Albian-Cenomanian of western part of Central Lebanon, Eastern Caspian Region, Albian-Turonian of Gabon, and Albian-Senonian of Angola (Equatorial Africa).     

Three new species of Heliotmpium (Boraginaceae) from the Horn of Afiica region

Heliotropium subspinosum sp. nov., from the coastal and subcoastal zones of Yemen, Oman and Somalia, is described and illustrated. This is a woody species with small leaves, and particularly the only 1–4–flowered inflorescences, the axes of which become subspinescent, are remarkable in the genus. H. laxum sp. nov., a slender shrublet from central Somalia, is described, and H. personatum sp. nov., a shrublet that is widespread and scattered, particularly on gypseous ground, in eastern Ethiopia, most parts of Somalia and in southern Yemen, is described and illustrated.     

Indigofera rubromarginata sp. nov. (Leguminosae) from southern Arabia, with a note on I. eremophila

The new species Indigofera rubromarginata , widespread along the coast of southern Arabia in Yemen and Oman, is described and illustrated. The closely related I. eremophila , previously known only from eastern Ethiopia and Somalia, is reported also from Yemen.     

Thamnosma (Rutaceae) in Africa

The African members of the remarkably disjunct Afro-American genus Thamnosma are revised. Six species are recognized, T africana, T. rhodesica and T. crenata in southern Africa, and T. somalensis, T. socotrana and T. hirschii in the Horn of Africa region, including the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula and Socotra. T. somalensis , sp. nov., is described from north-eastern Somalia. T. crenata , comb, nov., is based on T. africana var. crenata . A key to the species is given and two lectotypes and one neotype are selected.     

New grylloblattids of the family Lemmatophoridae (Insecta: Grylloblattida) from the Permian of Russia

New grylloblattids of the family Lemmatophoridae (Insecta: Grylloblattida), Artinska sojanensis sp. nov., Sylvaprisca colorata sp. nov., and Uraloprisca lisca gen. et sp. nov., from the Soyana locality (Lower Kazanian, Arkhangelsk Region) and Paraprisca solikamskensis sp. nov. from the Tyul’kino locality (Ufimian, Perm Region) are described. Two species are transferred from the genus Paraprisca to Uraloprisca gen. nov.: Uraloprisca uralica (G. Zalessky, 1952), comb. nov. and Uraloprisca causaria (Novokshonov, 2000), comb. nov. (both from the Kungurian of the Perm Region). The evolution of the family is discussed.     

Taxonomic revision of the genus Phryganogryllacris (Orthoptera: Gryllacrididae) from China

A taxonomic revision of the genus Phryganogryllacris Karny, 1937 is provided. Twelve species of the genus from China are recorded, including 5 species described as new to science, namely P. sichuanensis Li, Liu Li, sp. nov., P. parva Li, Liu Li, sp. nov., P. truncata Li, Liu Li, sp. nov., P. interrupta Li, Liu Li, sp. nov. and P. longicerca Li, Liu Li, sp. nov. Two new combinations are also reported here, P. gialai(Gorochov, 2004)(Vietnam) comb. nov. and P. alia(Gorochov, 2004)(Vietnam) comb. nov. A key to Chinese species of the genus was provided.     

中国扇瘿蚊属六新种(双翅目,瘿蚊科)

报道了双翅目瘿蚊科中国新纪录属:扇瘿蚊属Rhipidoxylomyia Mamaev 6新种,提出了1新组合:Rhipidoxylomyia concava(Yukawa),comb.nov,编制了扇瘿蚊属世界种类检索表.模式标本保存于南开大学生物系.     

中国驼背蚱属的订正(直翅目：枝背蚱科)

记述了驼背蚱属已知种共7种, 其中有2新种: 圆肩驼背蚱Gibbotettix circinihumerus sp.nov., 壶瓶山驼背蚱Gibbotettix hupingshanensis sp.nov.,并有1新组合: 冠驼背蚱Gibbotettix cristata(Liang,1995),comb. Nov.。模式标本分别保存在中国科学院动物研究所及湖南师范大学生命科学学院标本室。

Systematics of the spider genus Metabus O. P.-Cambridge, 1899 (Araneoidea: Tetragnathidae) with additions to the tetragnathid fauna of Chile and comments on the phylogeny of Tetragnathidae

The spider genus Metabus (Tetragnathidae) previously included nine species: the type M. gravidus O. P.-Cambridge, 1899 – junior synonym of Leucauge ocellata (Keyserling) – from Central America and eight species from Chile. In this paper, the classification of the Metabus species-complex is revised, and two new genera, with three new species and five new combinations, are described. Allende gen. nov. is created for four Chilean species not congeneric with the type of Metabus : the type A. puyehuensis sp. nov. , A. patagiatus (Simon) comb. nov. , A. nigrohumeralis (F. O. P.-Cambridge) comb. nov. and A. longipes (Nicolet) comb. nov. Further additions to the Chilean fauna are under the new genus Mollemeta gen. nov. – created for M. edwardsi (Simon) comb. nov. – and three new species of Chrysometa : C. acinosa sp. nov. , C. levii sp. nov. and C. maitae sp. nov. Metabus now includes four species: M. ocellatus (Keyserling) comb. nov. , M. debilis (O. P.-Cambridge) comb. nov. , M. ebanoverde sp. nov. and M. conacyt sp. nov. All of these species were included in a phylogenetic analysis of 38 tetragnathid and 12 orbicularian outgroup terminals scored for 105 morphological and behavioural characters. The results suggest that Metabus as previously circumscribed is polyphyletic.
