Purpose(1) Evaluate the reproducibility of segmentation methods depending on the preselection region for tumour volume determination on 18F-fluoro-ethyl-tyrosine (FET) PET. (2) Evaluate the intra and inter-operator reproducibility of the manual delineation. (3) Compare this delineation with the segmentation methods.Materials and methodsEighteen FET PET of patients with glioblastoma were analysed. Preselection regions were determined prior to any segmentation. Two physicians delineated the tumour volume manually. The tumour volume was also delineated with a threshold method (40 and 70% of SUVmax), and a random walk based method. Pearson coefficient (r) (P < 0.05 for r > 0.468) and Jaccard indices (JI) were used to compare the volumes.ResultsManual delineation was reproducible with r = 0.97 and IJ = 0.65 for intra-operator, and r = 0.76 and IJ = 0.45 for inter-operator reproducibility. The preselection regions for a given lesion were different and the segmentation varied with the preselection region: r = 0.55 JI = 0.58; r = 0.85 JI = 0.83; r = 0.70 JI = 0.39 respectively for the threshold of 40%, 70% and the random walk. The segmentation differed form de manual delineation with r = 0.37 and JI = 0.16; r = 0.54 and JI = 0.42; r = 0.43 and JI = 0.37 respectively for the threshold of 40%, 70% and the random walk.ConclusionThe reproducibility of the segmentation methods depends extensively on the preselection region. The intra-operator reproducibility of cerebral lesion delineation on FET PET is satisfactory. The inter-operator reproducibility could be improved.  相似文献

Acoustic signals that emanate from ecosystems are an important ecological variable which can provide evidence of current ecological condition as well as ecological change over time. The Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN) established protocols to record sounds in ten SuperSites distributed throughout Australia with the objective of characterizing the soundscape in a representative landscape in different regions of Australia. This acoustic monitoring system enables a comparison of the soundscapes within and between Australian regions to determine similarities and differences in these landscapes and regions.This research quantifies the soundscape patterns in one of these SuperSites, Samford Ecological Research Facility (TERN-SERF), which is part of the South-East Queensland Peri-Urban SuperSite. An analysis and visualization of patterns in the soundscape was conducted using a continuous acoustic recording collected at TERN-SERF. The recording was made using a Song Meter (SM2) in a representative wooded habitat at TERN-SERF from 1 August to 30 September 2013. The recording was made in 16-bit stereo at 44 kHz and stored in wav file format. The recording was split into 1-minute-long recordings comprising 86,196 records and then sub-sampled at a 30-minute interval, providing 2878 one-minute-long recordings every 1/2 h. Soundscape metrics were computed for each of the two recording intervals. Soundscape power values were computed for each of ten frequency intervals (1–11 kHz) for both the 1-minute and the 30-minute interval recordings. In addition, six acoustic indices were computed from each recording.The acoustics metrics derived from the two sets of recordings (1-minute and 30-minute recording intervals) were examined to determine if they revealed different patterns. Several soundscape metrics were calculated for each recording including ten soundscape power values at 1 kHz frequency intervals and six acoustics indices. The soundscape shows a dynamic but consistent pattern over time of day during the monitoring period, depending on the metric examined. The metrics revealed different soundscape patterns. All soundscape power values at 1 kHz frequency intervals defined the dawn and dusk chorus, some more distinctly than others. Three of six acoustic indices also changed abruptly at the dawn chorus. No significant difference was found when soundscape metrics were compared between the 1-minute (high resolution) and 30-minute (lower resolution) recording intervals. A t-test was used to compare the mean values of ten soundscape power frequency intervals (p = 0.44) and the mean values of six acoustics indices (p = 0.41).Sounds were identified in 180 recordings made at 0530 h, 0600 h and 0630 h in the 1-minute long 30-minute interval recordings each day during the recording period (August and September). Sixty-seven species of birds were identified. Soundscape metrics were correlated with avian species counts and calls by all species using a correlation threshold of r > 0.7. This analysis revealed that soundscape power at the frequency interval 3–4 kHz was correlated with both the number of species (r =  0.927) and total calls (r =  0.996) over the three time periods. Three indices, the ADI (r = 0.953, r = 0.709), the AEI (r = 0.978, r = 0.774) and (H) (r = 0.795, r = 0.985) were similarly correlated as was an index derived soundscape power, the Shannon-Weaver Index (r =  0.997, r =  0.849). Other indices were correlated (r > 0.7) with only the number of avian species or only the number of calls.This methodology establishes an analysis protocol for analyzing large acoustic data sets, and demonstrates the effectiveness of using acoustic metrics for summarizing and interpreting long-term recordings.  相似文献

ObjectiveThe treatment of lung adenocarcinomas is conditioned by the presence of certain genetic abnormalities. Certain quantitative parameters obtained from FDG PET-CT, at the voxel scale, provide tumour shape and texture characteristics and might predict their mutational status. Our objective was to determine the impact of the segmentation method in the characterization of lung adenocarcinomas in FDG PET-CT.MethodsForty-nine patients with pulmonary adenocarcinomas were retrospectively included, with their initial FDG PET-CT image. The studied tumours were big, heterogeneous and difficult to segment automatically. The automatic FLAB algorithm was used with and without manual adjustment. The parameters were extracted and compared to the ALK, PDL1, and KRAS status, in order to compare the performances of the two segmentation methods. Their performance was determined by the ROC curve method.ResultsSeveral parameters were significant to predict genetic status (AUC > 0.65). The best performing parameters were different according to the genes studied and according to the resampling methods used. The results were less dependent on resampling in automatic segmentation without manual adjustment. The best performing parameters were volume dependent parameters for segmentation with manual adjustment, and texture parameters for automatic segmentation without adjustment.ConclusionThe study of texture parameters is more efficient in automatic segmentation that is not manually adjusted, and it is advantageous to use a manual adjustment when studying volume-dependent parameters in the case of very heterogeneous tumors.  相似文献

This study investigated (a) the feasibility and repeatability of intramuscular fine-wire electromyographic (fEMG) recordings from leg muscles during the repetitive, high-velocity cycling movement, (b) the influence of amplitude normalization technique on repeatability and statistical sensitivity, (c) the influence of test-retest interval duration on repeatability, and (d) differences between fEMG and surface EMG (sEMG) recordings of cycling. EMG activity of leg muscles was recorded using surface and fine-wire electrodes during one (n = 12, to investigate statistical sensitivity and compare sEMG and fEMG) or two sessions (T1 and T2, 5–20 days apart, n = 10, to investigate repeatability). fEMG recordings were feasible and there was high repeatability of fEMG recordings normalised to maximum measured EMG amplitude (MAX); mean coefficients of multiple correlation (CMC) ranged from .83 ± .13 to .88 ± .07. Data normalised to maximal (MVC) or submaximal contractions (sMVC) were less repeatable (p < .01). Statistical sensitivity was also greatest for data normalised to MAX (p < .01). Repeatability of fEMG increased with greater test-retest intervals (p < .01). The global pattern of muscle recruitment was consistent between sEMG and fEMG but sEMG recordings were characterized by additional myoelectric content. These findings support and guide the use of fEMG techniques to investigate leg muscle recruitment during cycling.  相似文献

An automated segmentation of the left and right ventricles on cine MRI is presented here. A rectangular region around the object of interest is defined in the original image, a morphological filter is then applied that combines openings and closings on connected sets, providing an image with homogeneous regions, which is finally segmented with an active contour model. The algorithm was tested on two databases with an expert's segmentation on the ventricles. One of the databases was provided by the Multicentric Initiative for a Platform of Evaluation in Cardiac Imaging (IMPEIC) group. Results show a very satisfactory correlation between the area (given in mm2) of expertise (x) and the area of automated segmentation (y) of the left ventricle (y = 1.00x + 8.6, r = 0.99). First results on the right ventricle show more than 83% similarity. The systolic phase proved to be more difficult to segment, which could be taken into consideration by introducing time regularization criteria in the algorithm.  相似文献

Rising temperatures (1.4–6 °C) due to climate change have been predicted to increase cyanobacterial bloom occurrences in temperate water bodies; however, the impacts of warming on tropical cyanobacterial blooms are unknown. We examined the effects of four different temperatures on the growth rates and microcystin (MC) production of five tropical Microcystis isolates (M. ichthyoblabe (two strains), M. viridis, M. flos-aquae, and M. aeruginosa). The temperature treatments are based on current temperature range in Singapore's reservoirs (27 °C and 30 °C), as well as projected mean (33 °C) and maximum temperatures (36 °C) based on tropical climate change estimates of +6 °C in air temperature. Increasing temperatures did not significantly affect the maximum growth rates of most Microcystis strains. Higher growth rates were only observed in one M. ichthyoblabe strain at 33 °C and M. flos-aquae at 30 °C where both were isolated from the same reservoir. MC-RR and MC-LR were produced in varying amounts by all four species of Microcystis. Raised temperatures of 33 °C were found to boost total MC cell quota for three Microcystis strains although further increase to 36 °C led to a sharp decrease in total MC cell quota for all five Microcystis strains. Increasing temperature also led to higher MC-LR:MC-RR cell quota ratios in M. ichthyoblabe. Our study suggests that higher mean water temperatures resulting from climate change will generally not influence growth rates of Microcystis spp. in Singapore except for increases in M. ichthyoblabe strains. However, toxin cell quota may increase under moderate warming scenarios depending on the species.  相似文献

Electromyographic (EMG) studies into gluteus medius (GMed) typically involve surface EMG electrodes. Previous comparisons of surface and fine wire electrode recordings in other muscles during high load isometric tasks suggest that recordings between electrodes are comparable when the muscle is contracting at a high intensity, however, surface electrodes record additional activity when the muscle is contracting at a low intensity. The purpose of this study was to compare surface and fine wire recordings of GMed at high and low intensities of muscle contractions, under high load conditions (maximum voluntary isometric contractions, MVICs). Mann–Whitney U tests compared median electrode recordings during three MVIC hip actions; abduction, internal rotation and external rotation, in nine healthy adults. There were no significant differences between electrode recordings in positions that evoked a high intensity contraction (internal rotation and abduction, fine wire activity >77% MVIC; effect size, ES < 0.42; p > 0.277). During external rotation, the intensity of muscle activity was low (4.2% MVIC), and surface electrodes recorded additional myoelectric activity (ES = 0.67, p = 0.002). At low levels of muscle activity during high load isometric tasks, the use of surface electrodes may result in additional myoelectric recordings of GMed, potentially reflective of cross-talk from surrounding muscles.  相似文献

The 18F-FDG TEP has demonstrated its importance in oncology, for initial extension and efficacy of antitumoral therapeutics. Several studies have attempted to prove its utility to define tumoral volumes for conformational radiotherapy in nonsmall cell lung cancers. Some authors have suggested the use of threshold of tumor intensity uptake with 40 or 50% of maximal intensity. Black et al. have determined contouring with linear regression formula of mean semi-quantitative index of tumor uptake (standard uptake value): SUVthreshold = 0.307 SUVaverage + 0.588. Nestlé et al. have taken into account the background noise intensity and mean intensity of the tumor: Ithreshold = β Iaverage + Inoise with β = 0.15. Our study was done in collaboration with Inserm U618 team and has compared volumes defined on PETscan defined according to different methods based on intensity or SUV to the tumour volume determined on CT scan by radiophysicist. We have compared those volumes with histological volume that we considered for reference. Four patients have been included. They had 18F-FDG PETscan followed by complete tumoral removal surgery. Specific histological procedure allowed to define complete size of the tumor in reexpanded lung. Comparatively to pathology, the volumes obtained using Imax 40 and Imax 50 are all underestimated. The volumes defined by Black's et al. method are underevaluated for the two largest tumours (15.8% to 22%) and overestimated for the two smallest ones (17.9 to 82.9%). Nestlé's et al. method, using β = 0.15, correctly estimates two tumor volumes over 2 cm, but overestimates the two small tumors (79.6 to 124%). Finally, the corrected Nestlé's et al. formula (using β = 0.264) overestimates three tumours. Volumes defined on CT scan by radiophysicist are correct for one lesion, underestimated for one and overestimated for two other ones (44 and 179.5%). Nestlé's et al. method seems to be the most accurate for tumours over 2 cm of diameter. Today no method can correctly estimate the volume of smaller tumours. To improve those segmentation approaches, partial volume effect correction needs to be implemented for small tumours or tumours close to mediastinal local extension. The main indication of segmentation based on FDG PET is tumour greater than 2 cm for which treatment will be radiotherapy alone or radiotherapy associated with chemotherapy. Our study is important because it compares the different methods described in the literature with the reference histological volume of the tumor, which is the only way to validate tumor segmentation method.  相似文献

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common form of arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice. Its presence causes a rapid and irregular ventricular response, being the topic of intensive research in rate control therapies of AF. To this respect, recent studies suggest that ventricular response is notably influenced by atrial activity (AA) temporal organization. However, the interdependency between atrial and ventricular activations has not been adequately explored to date in real-life AF patients. The present work introduces a novel methodology to quantitatively assess synchronization and coupling between real atrial and ventricular activation series. Furthermore, the method operates on surface ECG recordings, thus providing an easy and cost-effective way to be applied. The method is based on a nonlinear index, such as cross-sample entropy (CSE), which estimates the conditional probability to find similar patterns within both activation series. The study has been carried out on patients with paroxysmal and persistent AF in order to be applied over atrial activation series with different properties in their organization. Results showed a statistically significant positive correlation between AA organization and the synchronization between atrial and ventricular activations (R = 0.53, p < 0.01). Furthermore, higher CSE values were observed for persistent (0.759 ± 0.053) than for paroxysmal AF episodes (0.662 ± 0.091), thus suggesting more synchronization between atrial and ventricular activations in paroxysmal AF. As a consequence, CSE provided findings consistent with previous works and could be used to reveal clinically useful information in the improvement of current rate control therapies, which are mainly focused on controlling ventricular rate without paying much attention to the atrial fibrillatory process.  相似文献

This study was performed to clarify how the relative volume of saturated/unsaturated lipid and reproductive maturation relate to resistance to high temperature in the oceanic sea skaters, Halobates micans. Heat coma temperature (HCT) was measured in H. micans adults collected from a fixed sampling location (12°00′N, 135°00′E) in the western tropical Pacific Ocean. After measuring HCT, the specimen were dissected to measure the testes size and to determine the presence and number of oocytes in females. Bodies of the specimen were assessed by lipid analysis to evaluate saturated and unsaturated lipid content. A negative trend was seen between heat coma temperature and percentage of a saturated fatty acid, myristic acid (ratio of carbon number to number of double bonds = 14:0) (Pearson's correlation test: r =  0.520, p = 0.101). In contrast, a positive trend was detected between heat coma temperature and percentage of an unsaturated fatty acid, palmitoleic acid (16:1) (r = 478, p = 0.137). Young males with small testes showed lower heat coma temperatures, whereas females that showed relatively high heat coma temperatures of 36–40 °C tended to have fewer mature oocytes in their ovaries than those that showed low heat coma temperatures of 30–34 °C. As Halobates appears to exhibit embryonic diapause rather than adult diapause, males of H. micans may develop both testes and resistance to high temperature in the parallel as they grow. In females, a trade-off may occur between heat tolerance function and oogenesis in the oceanic sea skaters.  相似文献

Thermal acclimation capacity was investigated in adults of three tropical marine invertebrates, the subtidal barnacle Striatobalanus amaryllis, the intertidal gastropod Volegalea cochlidium and the intertidal barnacle Amphibalanus amphitrite. To test the relative importance of transgenerational acclimation, the developmental acclimation capacity of A. amphitrite was investigated in F1 and F2 generations reared at a subset of the same incubation temperatures. The increase in CTmax (measured through loss of key behavioural metrics) of F0 adults across the incubation temperature range 25.4–33.4 °C was low: 0.00 °C (V. cochlidium), 0.05 °C (S. amaryllis) and 0.06 °C (A. amphitrite) per 1 °C increase in incubation temperature (the acclimation response ratio; ARR). Although the effect of generation was not significant, across the incubation temperature range of 29.4–33.4 °C, the increase in CTmax in the F1 (0.30 °C) and F2 (0.15 °C) generations of A. amphitrite was greater than in the F0 (0.10 °C). These correspond to ARR's of 0.03 °C (F0), 0.08 °C (F1) and 0.04 °C (F2), respectively. The variability in CTmax between individuals in each treatment was maintained across generations, despite the high mortality of progeny. Further research is required to investigate the potential for transgenerational acclimation to provide an extra buffer for tropical marine species facing climate warming.  相似文献

The study utilized the Electroantennogram (EAG) technique as biological acoustic stimulus to Liriomyza trifolii (Diptera: Agromyzidae). Pure tone sounds and courtship songs were tested in the excised head of test specimens. Significant EAG stimuli were detected when released at 20 Hz pure tone sound together with the courtship song having long pulse train patterns of Cryptonevra inquilina and Lipara japonica (Chloropidae). For their biological effectiveness, movement behaviors were analyzed with stimulus taken from EAG recordings. No attraction effect was observed even with and without acoustic stimulus. However, movement activities were transformed by information entropy and observed to be clearly different when selected acoustic stimuli were broadcast. The combination of response to EAG and behavioral observation would be useful to determine effective movement modification through acoustic stimulus in insect pests that are necessary toward the development of an acoustic pest management tool in agriculture.  相似文献

We examine global phylogeography of the two forms of giant petrel Macronectes spp. Although previously considered to be a single taxon, and despite debate over the status of some populations and the existence of minimal genetic data (one mitochondrial cytochrome b sequence per form), the current consensus based on morphology is that there are two species, Northern Giant Petrel M. halli and Southern Giant Petrel M. giganteus. This study examined genetic variation at cytochrome b as well as six microsatellite loci in giant petrels from 22 islands, representing most island groups at which the two species breed. Both markers support separate species status, although sequence divergence in cytochrome b was only 0.42% (corrected). Divergence was estimated to have occurred approximately 0.2 mya, but with some colonies apparently separated for longer (up to 0.5 my). Three clades were found within giant petrels, which separated approximately 0.7 mya, with the Southern Giant Petrel paraphyletic to a monophyletic Northern Giant Petrel. There was evidence of past fragmentation during the Pleistocene, with subsequent secondary contact within Southern Giant Petrels. The analysis also suggested a period of past population expansion that corresponded roughly to the timing of speciation and the separation of an ancestral giant petrel population from the fulmar Fulmarus clade.  相似文献

Although critical for effective human locomotion and posture, little data exists regarding the segmentation, architecture and contraction time of the human intrinsic foot muscles. To address this issue, the Abductor Hallucis (AH), Abductor Digiti Minimi (ADM), Flexor Digitorum Brevis (FDB) and Extensor Digitorum Brevis (EDB) were investigated utilizing a cadaveric dissection and a non-invasive whole muscle mechanomyographic (wMMG) technique. The segmental structure and architecture of formaldehyde-fixed foot specimens were determined in nine cadavers aged 60–80 years. The wMMG technique was used to determine the contraction time (Tc) of individual muscle segments, within each intrinsic foot muscle, in 12 volunteers of both genders aged between 19 and 24 years.While the pattern of segmentation and segmental –architecture (e.g. fibre length) and –Tc of individual muscle segments within the same muscle were similar, they varied between muscles. Also, the average whole muscle Tc of FDB was significantly (p < 0.05) shorter (faster) (Tc = 58 ms) than in all other foot muscles investigated (ADM Tc = 72 ms, EDB Tc = 72 ms and ABH Tc = 69 ms). The results suggest that the architecture and contraction time of the FDB reflect its unique direct contribution, through toe flexion, to postural stability and the rapid development of ground reaction forces during forceful activities such as running and jumping.  相似文献

Scope: Daily bilateral electromyography (EMG) recordings reveal muscle activation patterns implicated in asymmetric Parkinson’s disease (PD)-related functional decline. Also, daily EMG recordings reveal sex-differences in muscle activity that give rise to unique PD presentation in males and females. Purpose: Quantify handgrip strength and daily muscle quiescence through analysis of gaps in the EMG signal in males and females with PD. Bilateral daily EMG was recorded and normalized to maximal voluntary exertions (MVE). EMG gap was defined as <1% amplitude of MVE for >0.1 s and characterized as number, duration and time occupied by gaps. A dynamometer evaluated maximal grip-strength. Three-way repeated measures ANOVA examined differences in gap characteristics and strength. Gap duration was shorter (p = 0.04) and occupied less time (p = 0.02) in PD than controls. Females had fewer gaps with shorter duration (p = 0.004), occupying less time (p = 0.004) compared with males. Gaps were fewer (p = 0.04) and occupied less time (p = 0.01) on more-affected than less-affected side. PD was weaker than controls (p = 0.04), females were weaker than males (p = 0.00), and the more-affected PD side was weaker than less-affected (p = 0.04). Conclusions: Quantification of muscle quiescence through gaps in the EMG signal recorded during daily life provides insight into mechanisms underlying differential change in functional performance in males and females with PD.  相似文献

Apple snails, large tropical freshwater snails from the family Ampullariidae have been identified in the diet of the endangered Chacoan peccary, Catagonus wagneri. Apple snail shells of the type found in Paraguay, Pomacea canaliculata, have a mean weight of 7.8 gms (N = 50). No previous reports documenting these gastropods as being included in the peccary's diet have been found.  相似文献

Five emergent plant species were compared for their effectiveness in treating contaminants in a wetland system constructed on a military base in El Salvador. The system consisted of the subsurface flow (SSF), open water (OW) and free surface flow (SF) wetlands with a combined flow capacity of up to 151.4 m3 d?1. Reliability and consistent performance in extreme conditions, such as those occurring during the tropical dry or wet seasons were important evaluation criteria. The discontinuous flow patterns typical of tropical climates necessitated the use of water balance calculations using climatic data such as rainfall and evapotranspiration. System characterization was achieved by computation of daily input and output mass loading rates for each individual constituent. Results suggest that Phragmites and Brachiaria were the most effective plants in SSF wetland. Brachiaria provided the added benefit of serving as a source of fodder and proved proficient, with N and P uptakes of 1.5–3.14% and 0.17–0.25% per dry plants’ biomass, respectively. Typha yielded the highest dry season removal efficiency within the SF (BOD5: 80.78 ± 9.35%, COD: 65.18 ± 19.6%, TN: 58.59 ± 19.3%, oil and grease: 78.34 ± 10.55%, total dissolved phosphorus: 66.5 ± 20.7%). PhragmitesTypha treatment subset performed better year-round than either ThaliaThalia or BrachiariaCyperus. Evaluated plants were capable of surviving and proliferating in extreme tropical climates.  相似文献

This cross-sectional study performed on dairy goat herds was designed to establish the relationship between the presence of Mycoplasma species in bulk-tank milk samples from different farms and the bulk-tank milk somatic cell count (BTMSCC) in an area where contagious agalactia (CA) is endemic. Three BTMSCC thresholds, used in payment schemes or as legal requirements for milk quality in Europe and the USA, were considered: (1) 2,000,000 cells/ml; (2) 1,500,000 cells/ml and (3) 1,000,000 cells/ml. Of the 1068 milk samples tested, 7.9% (n = 84) showed the presence of Mycoplasma spp. (Mycoplasma agalactiae 82% and Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides large colony 17%). Somatic cell counts for bulk-tank samples containing mycoplasmas were higher than those recorded for negative samples (1,176,000 cells/ml vs. 875,000 cells/ml; P < 0.001). Two-by-two table analyses revealed that the presence of mycoplasmas in bulk-tank milk increased the risk of surpassing all SCC thresholds considered, with the highest risk for Mycoplasma positive bulk-tank milk samples exceeding the threshold of 1500 × 103 cells/ml (odds ratio = 2.42 (1.49 < OR < 3.91). Our results indicate that the presence of mycoplasmas in goat milk had yet another economic consequence and a further incentive to encourage the implementation of specific programs for disease control.  相似文献

Respiratory cycle related EEG change (RCREC) is characterized by significant relative EEG power changes within different stages of respiration during sleep. RCREC has been demonstrated to predict sleepiness in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea and is hypothesized to represent microarousals. As such RCREC may provide a sensitive marker of respiratory arousals. A key step in quantification of RCREC is respiratory signal segmentation which is conventionally based on local maxima and minima of the nasal flow signal. We have investigated an alternative respiratory cycle segmentation method based on inspiratory/expiratory transitions. Sixty two healthy paediatric participants were recruited through staff of local universities in Bolivia. Subjects underwent attended polysomnography on a single night (Compumedics PS2 system). Studies were sleep staged according to standard criteria. C3/A2 EEG channel and time-locked nasal flow (thermistor) were used in RCREC quantification. Forty Seven subjects aged 7–17 (11.4 ± 3) years (24M:23F) were found to have usable polysomnographs for the purpose of RCREC calculation. Respiratory cycles were segmented using both the conventional and novel (transition) methods and differences in RCREC derived from the two methods were compared in each frequency band. Significance of transition RCREC as measured by Fisher's F value through analysis of variance (ANOVA) was found to be significantly higher than the conventional RCREC in all frequency bands (P < 0.05) but beta. This increase in statistical significance of RCREC as demonstrated with the novel transition segmentation approach suggests better alignment of the respiratory cycle segments with the underlying physiology driving RCREC.  相似文献
