Methanogenic bacteria are considered to couple methane formation with the synthesis of ATP by a chemiosmotic mechanism. This hypothesis was tested with Methanobacterium thermoautotrophicum. Methane formation from H2 and CO2 (2.5 - 3 mumol X min-1 X mg cells-1) by cell suspensions of this organism resulted in the formation of an electrochemical proton potential (delta mu H +) across the cytoplasmic membrane of 230 mV (inside negative) and in the synthesis of ATP up to an intracellular concentration of 5 - 7 nmol/mg. The addition of ionophores at concentrations which completely dissipated delta mu H + without inhibiting methane formation did not result in an inhibition of ATP synthesis. It thus appears that delta mu H + across the cytoplasmic membrane is not the driving force for the synthesis of ATP in M. thermoautotrophicum.  相似文献

The electrochemical proton gradient in Mycoplasma cells   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The electrochemical proton gradient, delta mu H+ generated upon glycolysis by Mycoplasma mycoides var. Capri cells has been determined. The components, the transmembrane pH gradient, delta pH, and the membrane potential, delta psi, were measured using several methods. The determination of the delta pH was conducted by measuring the transmembrane distribution of weak acids (acetate and butyrate) and of a weak base (methylamine), using flow dialysis and filtration techniques. The transmembrane electrical potential was determined from the distribution of the lipophilic cation Ph3MeP+ and of Rb+ or K+ in the presence of valinomycin. At extra-cellular pH 7.2, glycolyzing Mycoplasma cells maintain an internal pH more alkaline (0.5 pH unit) than that of the milieu and an electrical potential of - 85 mV, interior negative. The delta mu H+ in M. mycoides var. Capri cells is thus about - 115 mV. When the external pH was altered from 7.7 to 5.7 delta psi decreased from - 90 mV to - 60 mV. On other hand although the internal pH decreased, delta pH was found to increase from 0.2 to 1.0 pH unit. Since the changes in delta psi were largely compensated by the changes in delta pH, delta mu H+ remained practically constant at about - 115 mV throughout the pH range tested. Finally, inhibition of delta pH by N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, carbonylcyanide-p-trifluoromethoxyphenylhydrazone or nigericin confirmed that chemiosmotic phenomena contribute to energy transduction across the membranes of M. mycoides var. Capri cells.  相似文献

The electrochemical proton gradient in Escherichia coli membrane vesicles.   总被引:25,自引:0,他引:25
S Ramos  H R Kaback 《Biochemistry》1977,16(5):848-854
Membrane vesicles isolated from Escherichia coli grown under various conditions generate a transmembrane pH gradient (delta pH) of about 2 pH units (interior alkaline) under appropriate conditions when assayed by flow dialysis. Using the distribution of weak acids to measure delta pH and the distribution of the lipophilic cation triphenylmethylphosphonium to measure the electrical potential (delta psi) across the membrane, the vesicles are demonstrated to develop an electrochemical proton gradient (delta-muH+) of almost - 200 mV (interior negative and alkaline) at pH 5.5 in the presence of reduced phenazine methosulfate or D-lactate, the major component of which is a deltapH of about - 120 mV. As external pH is increased, deltapH decreases, reaching 0 at about pH 7.5 and above, while delta psi remains at about - 75 mV and internal pH remains at pH 7.5-7.8. The variations in deltapH correlate with changes in the oxidation of reduced phenazine methosulfate or D-lactate, both of which vary with external pH in a manner similar to that described for deltapH. Finally, deltapH and delta psi can be varied reciprocally in the presence of valinomycin and nigericin with little change in delta-muH+ and no change in respiratory activity. These data and those presented in the following paper (Ramos and Kaback 1976) provide strong support for the role of chemiosmotic phenomena in active transport and extend certain aspects of the chemiosmotic hypothesis.  相似文献

A number of tight urinary epithelia, as exemplified by the turtle bladder, acidify the luminal solution by active transport of H+ across the luminal cell membrane. The rate of active H+ transport (JH) decreases as the electrochemical potential difference for H+ [delta mu H = mu H(lumen) - mu H(serosa)] across the epithelium is increased. The luminal cell membrane has a low permeability for H+ equivalents and a high electrical resistance compared with the basolateral cell membrane. Changes in JH thus reflect changes in active H+ transport across the luminal membrane. To examine the control of JH by delta mu H in the turtle bladder, transepithelial electrical potential differences (delta psi) were imposed at constant acid-base conditions or the luminal pH was varied at delta psi = 0 and constant serosal PCO2 and pH. When the luminal compartment was acidified from pH 7 to 4 or was made electrically positive, JH decreased as a linear function of delta mu H as previously described. When the luminal compartment was made alkaline from pH 7 to 9 or was made electrically negative, JH reached a maximal value, which was the same whether the delta mu H was imposed as a delta pH or a delta psi. The nonlinear JH vs. delta mu H relation does not result from changes in the number of pumps in the luminal membrane or from changes in the intracellular pH, but is a characteristic of the H+ pumps themselves. We propose a general scheme, which, because of its structural features, can account for the nonlinearity of the JH vs. delta mu H relations and, more specifically, for the kinetic equivalence of the effects of the chemical and electrical components of delta mu H. According to this model, the pump complex consists of two components: a catalytic unit at the cytoplasmic side of the luminal membrane, which mediates the ATP-driven H+ translocation, and a transmembrane channel, which mediates the transfer of H+ from the catalytic unit to the luminal solution. These two components may be linked through a buffer compartment for H+ (an antechamber).  相似文献

Synaptic vesicles contain a H+-ATPase that generates a proton electrochemical gradient (delta mu H+) required for the uptake of neurotransmitters into the organelles. In this study, the synaptic vesicle H+-ATPase was examined for structural and functional similarities with other identified ATPases that generate a delta mu H+ across membranes. The synaptic vesicle H+-ATPase displayed immunological similarity with the 115-, 72-, and 39-kDa subunits of a vacuolar-type H+-ATPase purified from chromaffin granules. Functionally, the ATP-dependent H+ pumping across synaptic vesicles and ATP hydrolysis were sensitive to the sulfhydryl-modifying reagents, N-ethylmaleimide and 4-chloro-7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazole, at concentrations known to affect vacuolar-type H+-ATPases. In addition, as with vacuolar-type H+-ATPases, the presence of NO3-, SO4(2-), or F- inhibited the generation of a delta mu H+, but addition of vanadate or oligomycin had no effect. The delta mu H+ is a function of the pH gradient (delta pH) and membrane potential (delta psi sv) across the synaptic vesicle. Acidification (delta pH) of the synaptic vesicle interior was enhanced in the presence of permeant anions, such as Cl-, or the K+ ionophore, valinomycin. In the absence of permeant anions, the H+-ATPase generated a delta psi sv that effected the transport of L-glutamate into the synaptic vesicles. Dissipation of delta psi sv by incubation with increased external Cl- or nigericin resulted in the abolition of glutamate uptake, despite the continued maintenance of a delta mu H+ across the synaptic vesicle as a substantial delta pH. The results suggest that the synaptic vesicle H+-ATPase is of a vacuolar type and energizes the uptake of anionic glutamate by virtue of the delta psi sv component of the delta mu H+ it generates.  相似文献

The development of membrane bioenergetic studies during the last 25 years has clearly demonstrated the validity of the Mitchellian chemiosmotic H+ cycle concept. The circulation of H+ ions was shown to couple respiration-dependent or light-dependent energy-releasing reactions to ATP formation and performance of other types of membrane-linked work in mitochondria, chloroplasts, some bacteria, tonoplasts, secretory granules and plant and fungal outer cell membranes. A concrete version of the direct chemiosmotic mechanism, in which H+ potential formation is a simple consequence of the chemistry of the energy-releasing reaction, is already proved for the photosynthetic reaction centre complexes. Recent progress in the studies on chemiosmotic systems has made it possible to extend the coupling-ion principle to an ion other than H+. It was found that, in certain bacteria, as well as in the outer membrane of the animal cell, Na+ effectively substitutes for H+ as the coupling ion (the chemiosmotic Na+ cycle). A precedent is set when the Na+ cycle appears to be the only mechanism of energy production in the bacterial cell. In the more typical case, however, the H+ and Na+ cycles coexist in one and the same membrane (bacteria) or in two different membranes of one and the same cell (animals). The sets of delta mu H+ and delta mu Na+ generators as well as delta mu H+ and delta mu Na+ consumers found in different types of biomembranes, are listed and discussed.  相似文献

In the previous paper [ramos, S., and Kaback, H.R. (1977), Biochemistry 16 (preceding paper in this issue)], it was demonstrated that Escherichia coli membrane vesicles generate a large electrochemical proton gradient (delta-muH+) under appropriate conditions, and some of the properties of delta-muH+ and its component forces [i.e., the membrane potential (delta psi) and the chemical gradient of protons (deltapH)] were described. In this paper, the relationship between delta-muH+, delta psi, and deltapH and the active transport of specific solutes is examined. Addition of lactose or glucose 6-phosphate to membrane vesicles containing the appropriate transport systems results in partial collapse of deltapH, providing direct evidence for the suggestion that respiratory energy can drive active transport via the pH gradient across the membrane. Titration studies with valinomycin and nigericin lead to the conclusion that, at pH 5.5, there are two general classes of transport systems: those that are driven primarily by delta-muH+ (lactose, proline, serine, glycine, tyrosine, glutamate, leucine, lysine, cysteine, and succinate) and those that are driven primarily by deltapH (glucose 6-phosphate, D-lactate, glucuronate, and gluconate). Importantly, however, it is also demonstrated that at pH 7.5, all of these transport systems are driven by delta psi which comprises the only component of delta-muH+ at this external pH. In addition, the effect of external pH on the steady-state levels of accumulation of different solutes is examined, and it is shown that none of the pH profiles correspond to those observed for delta-muH+, delta psi, or deltapH. Moreover, at external pH values above 6.0-6.5, delta-muH+ is insufficient to account for the concentration gradients established for each substrate unless the stoichiometry between protons and accumulated solutes is greater than unity. The results confirm many facets of the chemiosmotic hypothesis, but they also extend the concept in certain important respects and allow explanations for some earlier observations which seemed to preclude the involvement of chemiosmotic phenomena in active transport.  相似文献

The relationship between rate of ATP synthesis, JATP, and value of the proton electrochemical gradient, delta mu H, has been analyzed in intact mitochondria. Onset of phosphorylation causes a depression of delta mu H of 1.5 kJ/mol. There is a close parallelism between inhibition of JATP and restoration of delta mu H to its state-4 value during titrations with oligomycin or atractyloside. Titrations with ionophores display the following features: (a) delta mu H can be depressed by 3-4 kJ/mol by valinomycin + K+ without affecting the rate of ATP synthesis; (b) uncouplers abolish JATP completely while depressing delta mu H by 3 kJ/mol; (c) complete abolition of ATP synthesis by inhibitors of electron transport is accompanied by a depression of delta mu H of only 1 kJ/mol. The results indicate that: (a) there is a close functional relationship between redox and ATPase H+ pumps, whereby inhibition of electron transfer is accompanied by simultaneous inhibition of the ATPase H+ pumps; and (b) uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation is not due to depression of delta mu H per se. The consistence of the present data with either a chemiosmotic model where delta mu H is the sole and obligatory intermediate for energy coupling, or models where there is a direct transfer of energy between the two pumps is discussed.  相似文献

The results of double-inhibitor and uncoupler-inhibitor titrations have been simulated and analyzed with a nonlinear model of delocalized protonic coupling obtained by linking two proton pump models of the kind studied by Pietrobon and Caplan [Pietrobon, D., & Caplan, S. R. (1985) Biochemistry 24, 5764-5776] through their common intermediate delta mu H. It is shown that the results predicted by a delocalized chemiosmotic model are highly dependent on the kind of relationships existing between rate of ATP synthesis, Jp, and delta mu H and rate of electron transfer, Je, and delta mu H. With nonlinear flow-force relationships all the results reported so far are not necessarily inconsistent with the delocalized chemiosmotic model provided that the relationships between rates and delta mu H satisfy the following requirements: Jp/delta mu H increases and/or Je/delta mu H decreases as (delta mu H) increases.  相似文献

The rate of ATP synthesis (JP) in isolated rat-liver mitochondria was strongly dependent on the magnitude of the protonmotive force (delta mu H+) across the mitochondrial inner membrane. Addition of different concentrations of various uncouplers or malonate to mitochondrial incubations in State 3 led to a depression of delta mu H+ and a concomitant decrease in JP. A unique relationship between JP and delta mu H+ was obtained, which was independent of the way in which delta mu H+ was varied. This unique relationship was observed when K+ (in the presence of valinomycin) was used as a probe for delta psi. Different relationships between JP and delta mu H+ were observed when K+ was used as a probe for delta psi and when K+ was measured after separation of the mitochondria by centrifugation without silicone oil. This led to a serious underestimation of delta psi, specifically when uncouplers were present, and non-unique flow-force relationships were thus obtained. Anomalous relationships between JP and delta mu H+ were also found when TPMP+ was used as a probe for delta psi. However, in uncoupler incubations the presence of TBP- strongly affected the TPMP+ accumulation ratio without any effect on the K+ accumulation or on JP and in the presence of TBP- unique relationships between JP and delta mu H+ were again obtained. This indicates that the accumulation of TPMP+ inside the mitochondria is not a straightforward function of delta psi but also depends on conditions like the presence of TBP- or uncouplers. We conclude that there is a unique relationship between the rate of phosphorylation and the protonmotive force in mitochondria and that under some conditions the behaviour of TPMP+ is anomalous.  相似文献

Accumulation of 2-aminoisobutyrate by mouse ascites tumour cells was studied in circumstances where nigericin reversed the normal direction of the Na+ concentration gradient. The membrane potential (delta psi) was assayed using oxonol V as a voltage-sensitive probe. The amino acid gradient (delta mu A) that formed did not significantly exceed the likely magnitude of the Na+ electrochemical gradient when this was in the range 2-6 kJ mol-1. When delta-Na mu increased up to 11 kJ mol-1, delta mu A was almost constant at 7-8 kJ mol-1. The observations indicate that when delta psi is large changes in cellular [Na+] in the range 16-80 mM scarcely affect delta mu A.  相似文献

The rates of oxidation and phosphorylation in isolated rat-liver mitochondria have a steep dependence on the protonmotive force (delta mu H+) across the membrane. These experimentally observed relationships proved to be independent of the way in which delta mu H+ was varied. These results were obtained when the membrane potential (delta psi) was calculated from the distribution of K+ (in the presence of valinomycin). When triphenylmethylphosphonium (TPMP+) was used as a probe for delta psi, slightly different flow-force relationships were obtained. We conclude that unique relationships exist between delta mu H+ and the rates of oxidation and phosphorylation, and that under some conditions the behaviour of the probe TPMP+ is anomalous.  相似文献

The H+/ATP stoichiometry of the proton-translocating ATPase was investigated in growing and nongrowing, respiring cells of Escherichia coli. The protonmotive force, delta p, was determined by measuring the transmembrane chemical gradient of protons, delta pH, from the cellular accumulation of benzoate anions, and the electrical gradient, delta psi, from the accumulation of the lipophilic cation tetraphenylphosphonium (TPP+). The accumulation of lactose was also used to calculate the delta p in this lactose operon constitutive beta-galactosidase negative mutant. The phosphorylation potential, delta GP', was determined by measuring the cellular concentration of ATP, ADP, and inorganic phosphate. According to chemiosmotic principles, at steady state the phosphorylation potential is in thermodynamic equilibrium with the protonmotive force, and thus the ratio delta p/delta GP' can be used to determine the H+/ATP ratio. Respiring E. coli cells, in mid-exponential phase of growth or incubated in buffer, at external pHs from 6.25 to 8.25 had a constant delta GP' of about 500 mV. The H+/ATP ratio was found to be 3 when the delta p value derived from lactose accumulation levels was used. However, when the delta p values derived from delta pH and delta psi were used in the calculations, the H+/ATP ratio varied from about 2.5 at external pH 6.25 to about 4 at pH 8.25. Arguments are presented for the hypothesis that the delta psi values obtained from the TPP+ measurements are likely to be inaccurate and that a value of 3 H+/ATP, independent of the external pH, is likely to be the valid stoichiometry.  相似文献

Methanosarcina mazei Gö1 couples the methyl transfer from methyl-tetrahydromethanopterin to 2-mercaptoethanesulfonate (coenzyme M) with the generation of an electrochemical sodium ion gradient (delta mu Na+) and the reduction of the heterodisulfide of coenzyme M and 7-mercaptoheptanoylthreoninephosphate with the generation of an electrochemical proton gradient (delta muH+). Experiments with washed inverted vesicles were performed to investigate whether both ion gradients are used directly for the synthesis of ATP. delta mu Na+ and delta mu H+ were both able to drive the synthesis of ATP in the vesicular system. ATP synthesis driven by heterodisulfide reduction (delta mu H+) or an artificial delta pH was inhibited by the protonophore SF6847 but not by the sodium ionophore ETH157, whereas ETH157 but not SF6847 inhibited ATP synthesis driven by a chemical sodium ion gradient (delta pNa) as well as the methyl transfer reaction (delta mu Na+). Inhibition of the Na+/H+ antiporter led to a stimulation of ATP synthesis driven by the methyl transfer reaction (delta mu Na+), as well as by delta pNa. These experiments indicate that delta mu Na+ and delta mu H+ drive the synthesis of ATP via an Na(+)- and an H(+)-translocating ATP synthase, respectively. Inhibitor studies were performed to elucidate the nature of the ATP synthase(s) involved. delta pH-driven ATP synthesis was specifically inhibited by bafilomycin A1, whereas delta pNa-driven ATP synthesis was exclusively inhibited by 7-chloro-4-nitro-2-oxa-1,3-diazole, azide, and venturicidin. These results are evidence for the presence of an F(1)F(0)-ATP synthase in addition to the A(1)A(0)-ATP synthase in membranes of M. Mazei Gö1 and suggest that the F(1)F(0)-type enzyme is an Na+-translocating ATP synthase, whereas the A(1)A(0)-ATP synthase uses H+ as the coupling ion.  相似文献

The regulation of the membrane-bound H(+)-ATPase from the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodobacter capsulatus was investigated. In the presence of uncouplers the rate of ATP hydrolysis was about 40 mM ATP/M bacteriochlorophyll (Bchl)/s. Without uncouplers this rate increased and if, additionally, the chromatophores were illuminated, it was almost doubled. If uncouplers were added shortly after illumination, the rate increased to 300-350 mM ATP/M Bchl/s. Obviously, energization of the membrane leads to the formation of a metastable, active state of the H(+)-ATPase. The maximal rate of ATP hydrolysis can be measured only when first all H(+)-ATPases are activated by delta mu H+ and when the delta mu H+ is abolished in order to release its back pressure on the hydrolysis rate. The half-life time of the metastable state in the absence of delta mu H+ is about 30 s. It is increased by 3 mM Pi to about 80 s and it is decreased by 1 mM ADP to about 15 s. Quantitatively, the fraction of active H(+)-ATPases shows a sigmoidal dependence on pHin (at constant pHout) and the magnitude of delta psi determines the maximal fraction of enzymes which can be activated: delta pH and delta psi are not equivalent for the activation process.  相似文献

To investigate the mechanism of polytopic membrane protein insertion in Escherichia coli, we have examined the protein and energy requirements for in vivo membrane assembly of the prototypic 12 transmembrane domain sugar co-transporter, melibiose permease (MelB). MelB membrane assembly was analyzed both kinetically, by pulse labeling experiments, and functionally by measuring the activity of the inserted permease. Strikingly, the rate of MelB membrane assembly is decreased approximately 4-fold upon dissipation of the transmembrane electrochemical proton gradient, delta(mu)H+, indicative of a strong requirement for delta(mu)H+. Interestingly, selective dissipation of either the electrical (delta(psi)) or the chemical (delta(pH)) component of delta(mu)H+ demonstrates that either form of energy is required for MelB membrane assembly. In contrast, MelB membrane assembly does not require SecA, SecY or SecE, all three proteins which are strictly required for protein translocation. Neither the rate of MelB membrane assembly nor the amount of functional permease is affected by inactivation or depletion of these Sec proteins. These results strongly suggest that polytopic membrane proteins such as MelB insert into the cytoplasmic membrane by a mechanism fundamentally different from protein translocation.  相似文献

The control of cytochrome c oxidase incorporated into proteoliposomes has been investigated as a function of membrane potential (delta psi) and pH gradient (delta pH). The oxidase generates a pH gradient (alkaline inside) and a membrane potential (negative inside) when respiring on external cytochrome c. Low levels of valinomycin collapse delta psi and increase delta pH; the respiration rate decreases. High levels of valinomycin, however, decrease delta pH as valinomycin can also act as a protonophore. Nigericin (in the absence of valinomycin) increases delta psi and collapses delta pH; the respiration rate increases. On a millivolt equivalent basis delta pH is a more effective inhibitor of activity than is delta psi. In the absence of any ionophores the cytochrome oxidase proteoliposomes enter a steady state, in which there are both delta pH and delta psi components of control. Present and previous data suggest that the respiration rate responds in a linear way ("ohmically") to increasing delta pH but in a nonlinear way to delta psi ("non-ohmically"). High levels of both delta psi and delta pH do not completely inhibit turnover (maximal respiratory control values lie between 6 and 10). The controlled steady state involves the electrophoretic entry and electroneutral exit of K+ from the vesicles. A model is presented in which the enzyme responds to both delta pH and delta psi components of the proton-motive force, but is more sensitive to delta pH than to delta psi at an equivalent delta mu H+. The steady state of the proteoliposome system can be represented for any set of permeabilities and enzyme activity levels using the computer simulation programme Stella.  相似文献

An instrument is described that enables the simultaneous monitoring of proton motive force (PMF), membrane potential (delta psi), the delta pH across a membrane, oxidase activity, proton movements, and H+/O ratios. We have studied the relationship existing among these parameters of energy transduction as a critical condition is changed during an experiment. The major findings are: (a) In the pH range of 4.5 to 7.5, increasing the external pH causes an increase in delta psi, internal pH, and oxidase activity, a decrease in H+/O ratio, and a peak-plateau in PMF from pH 5.5 to 6.6 where delta pH is converted to delta psi. (b) An increase in [K+] from 1 to 100 mM, in the presence of 0.5 microM valinomycin, causes the conversion of delta psi to delta pH, a gradual decline in PMF and an increase in H+/O ratio, internal pH, and oxidase activity. (c) Increasing valinomycin concentration from 0 to 2.5 microM, in the presence of 50 mM [K+], causes a decline in delta psi from 125 to 0 mV, and an increase in delta pH from 35 to 70 mV. From 2.5 to 10 microM, the delta pH and the PMF (which it solely represents), stay constant, H+/O ratio increases mainly from 0 to 0.5 microM and much more slowly from 2.5 to 10 microM. (d) Oxygen at only 10% of its concentration in air-saturated buffer can support the generation of 90% or more of the delta psi, delta pH, and PMF generated in an air-saturated solution. (e) The return of extruded protons to the cell (referred to here as "suck-back") represents a complicated process driven by delta psi and influenced by a variety of factors. (f) H+/O ratios measured by the kinetic technique used here are much higher than those measured by standard oxygen pulse techniques.  相似文献

Membrane vesicles from Halobacterium halobium create a large, inside negative membrane potential (delta psi) and small, inside alkaline pH gradient (delta pH) by illumination in 3 M NaCl. delta psi was the major component of a proton electrochemical potential (delta microH+) over a pH range from 5 to 8. After DCCD treatment of the vesicles, delta psi was replaced by delta pH due to the inhibition of the intrinsic delta pH----delta psi transformation process: delta psi formation in light is markedly retarded and an inversely large delta pH is established at these pHs. DCCD-caused changes in delta psi and delta pH were completely restored to the control level by the addition of monensin, an electroneutral Na+/H+ exchanger. The ratio of DCCD-caused change in delta pH and delta psi was identical to that of monensin-recovered delta psi and delta pH. The delta psi/delta pH ratio was approximately 0.8, that is, 100 mV of delta pH was transformed into 78 mV of delta psi. The present results indicate that the intrinsic activity of the DCCD-sensitive delta pH----delta psi transformation is mediated by an electroneutral Na+/H+ exchange.  相似文献

The results presented show that in Mycoplasma mycoides var. Capri, regulation of glucose uptake by its non-metabolizable analogue methyl alpha-D-glucoside, can be used to control intracellular ATP content. This in turn leads to a control of the rate of proton extrusion catalysed by the Mg2+-dependent ATPase (phi (cHxN)2C H+) and the respective amplitudes of the components of delta mu H+. When Mycoplasma cells are incubated with 10 mM methyl alpha-D-glucoside, the amplitude of phi (cHxN)2C H+, of the electrical potential delta psi and of the chemical gradient delta pH become continuous functions of external glucose concentration within the limits of the non-energized and fully energized states. Analysis of the relationships between graduated amplitudes of delta psi, delta pH and phi (cHxN) 2C H+ show that the primary form of energy stored by a delta mu H+ generator is the electrical potential.  相似文献
