QT/QS2 ratio has been assessed in 26 patients with both borderline and mild hypertension and mitral valve prolapse syndrome (19 patients), and hyperthyroidism (16 patients) in comparison with method control groups. The following polycardiographic parameters have been analyzed: QT, QTp, QS2, QT/QS2, and QTp/QS2. Higher values of QT/QS2 ratio have been noted in patients with mitral valve prolapse syndrome and hyperthyroidism than that in the control group. There has been no difference in patients with mild hypertension while the values of the analyzed parameter have been significantly lower in patients with borderline hypertension. QT has been longer than QS2 (QT)QS2 1/in 9 (56%) patients with hyperthyroidism. A positive correlation between QT/QS2 ratio and ++thyroxine levels have been noted in these patients. QT values have been higher than QS2 values only in 1 patient with mild hypertension. It seems that QT/QS2 value has limited value as an indirect index of the adrenergic activity in the dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system.  相似文献

The authors investigated why intrapulmonary shunt (QS/QT) increases with sodium nitroprusside (SNP) in canine oleic acid pulmonary edema. To determine the effects of flow alone on QS/QT, a peripheral arteriovenous fistula with a variable resistor was employed to increase cardiac output (Q) 26 and 52% above base line in a stepwise fashion (P less than 0.01). To examine the direct effects of SNP, distinct from changes in flow, the drug was given to produce matched increments in Q in each dog (P less than 0.01). To control for time, base-line measurements were obtained before and after each intervention, the sequence of which was alternated. At each increment in Q, SNP and the arteriovenous fistula increased QS/QT a similar amount. The mixed venous O2 tension (P-vO2) followed Q similarly in each group. Pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) fell more (P less than 0.01) with SNP than with the arteriovenous fistula at identical Q and P-vO2. The authors conclude that, in this model, a direct pharmacological effect of SNP does not contribute to the deterioration in QS/QT. In fact, SNP exerts a pulmonary vasoactive effect that does not adversely affect gas exchange.  相似文献

Quercetin is a flavonoid which activates oxidative metabolism. Quercetin may reduce weight gain by decreasing feed efficiency. The present study aims to evaluate weight gain, caloric intake and feed efficiency in exercised and sedentary rats supplemented with quercetin. Wistar rats were divided into four groups: quercetin-exercise training (QT), quercetin-sedentary (QS), placebo-exercise training (PT) and placebo-sedentary (PS). Rats were exercised and/or orally supplemented with quercetin (25 mg · kg−1 on alternate days) during six weeks. Weight gain of the QT group decreased when compared with the PT and PS groups. Exercised groups increased cumulative caloric intake during the experimental period. The QT group rats also reduced their feed efficiency when compared with the QS and PS groups. These results suggest that quercetin is not able to decrease weight gain because no differences were found between placebo and quercetin condition either in the sedentary or in the training condition.  相似文献

Systolic time intervals were studied in 28 young, previously healthy burn patients (TBS 10-90%) on 145 occasions. A NEK 116 type 3 channel recorder of 100 mm/sec paper speed was used. Synchronous ECG recordings in lead II, PCG in the m "1" frequency band, and external carotid pulse tracings were recorded. RR, QS2, S1S2, LVET, PEP, PEP/LVET and QT, QTc, QS2-QT intervals were measured in 5-10 cardiac cycles in each of the examinations. Calculation of the additional parameters ICT, LVET/ICT, DT, EVR, PRP, EF and SV values were correlated to the extent of, and the time elapsed since, burn injury. The derivated parameters and statistical analysis were performed on a Commodore 64 type computer based on a software program. Elongation of QTc (greater than 440 msec) and frequent electrodynamic failure (QT-QS2 greater than 40 msec) especially during the first postinjury week were found characteristic in severe injury. In 53% the PEP/LVET ratio was less than 0.31, mean 0.32 +/- 0.093. In 21 cases of severe hypovolaemia the increase of PEP raised this value beyond 0.41. With the exception of 3 examinations, QS2I was normal or shortened. Calculated EF were normal or increased, SV reduced being interdependent with burn extent and shortening of DT. In patients with severe burns, oxygenization was inadequate (EVR less than 0.8); it showed an inverse correlation to HR. The simultaneously high LVET/ICT ratio and shortened ICT values pointed to an increase in contractility.  相似文献

There is evidence that nitric oxide (NO) is involved in the chronotropic, the inotropic, and the vasodilator response to beta-adrenoceptor agonists. In the present study we hypothesized that inhibition of NO synthase may modulate the systemic vascular and cardiac effects of isoprenaline, a beta-adrenoceptor agonist, in healthy subjects. Subjects received stepwise increasing doses of isoprenaline (0.1-0.8 microg/min) in the absence or presence of systemic NO-synthase inhibition using two intravenous doses of N-monomethyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA; dosage 1, 3.0 mg/kg over 5 min, followed by 30 microg/kg/min over 75 min; dosage 2, 6.0 mg/kg over 5 min, followed by 60 microg/kg/min over 75 min) or peripheral vasoconstriction using exogenous endothelin-1 (ET-1; 5.0 ng/kg/min for 80 min). The chronotropic (RR interval) and the inotropic (QS2c) responses were assessed by noninvasive measurement of systolic time intervals. L-NMMA alone did not influence QS2c, but did increase the RR interval (P < 0.001) and the mean arterial blood pressure (P = 0.003). L-NMMA did not attenuate the blood pressure and the QS2c responses to isoprenaline, but significantly and dose-dependently blunted the heart rate response to beta-adrenoceptor stimulation (P = 0.029). ET-1 decreased the RR interval (P < 0.001) and increased the mean arterial blood pressure (P = 0.028). Our results indicate that beta-adrenoceptor mediated effects on the heart rate are much more susceptible to NOS inhibition than inotropic responses. This indicates that NO has an important role in heart rate control during beta-adrenoceptor stimulation.  相似文献

Gravitropic bending of Lepidium roots caused by intermittent stimulation lasting ≈ 1 h was the same for a particular sum of stimulation intervals and was independent of (i) the length of a single stimulation interval (from 1 to 12·2 s) during which the roots were exposed unilaterally and horizontally, and (ii) rest intervals (from 60 to 300 s) during which roots were horizontally rotated at two revolutions per minute on a clinostat. The same effectiveness of equal sums of short stimulations separated by relatively long rest intervals indicates that the signals into which the stimuli are transduced are: (i) additive; (ii) proportional to the duration of a single stimulation; and (iii) stable for at least 5 min. The perception time is shorter than 1 s, the presentation time is ≈ 10 s. The effects of intermittent stimulation fit the hypothesis that the gravity-induced movement of statoliths changes asymmetrically the stress in cytoskeletal actin filaments, thereby inducing gravitropic bending.  相似文献

The dependence on heart rate of the QT interval has been investigated for many years and several mathematical formulae have been proposed to describe the QT interval/heart rate (or QT interval/RR interval) relationship. While the most popular is Bazett's formula, it overcorrects the QT interval at high heart rates and under-corrects it at slow heart rates. This formulae and many others similar ones, do not accurately describe the natural behaviour of the QT interval. The QT interval/RR interval relationship is generally described as QT dynamics. In recent years, several methods of its assessment have been proposed, the most popular of which is linear regression. An increased steepness of the linear QT/RR slope correlates with the risk of arrhythmic death following myocardial infarction. It has also been demonstrated that the QT interval adapts to heart rate changes with a delay (QT hysteresis) and that QT dynamics parameters vary over time. New methods of QT dynamics assessment that take into account these phenomena have been proposed. Using these methods, changes in QT dynamics have been observed in patients with advanced heart failure, and during morning hours in patients with ischemic heart disease and history of cardiac arrest. The assessment of QT dynamics is a new and promising tool for identifying patients at increased risk of arrhythmic events and for studying the effect of drugs on ventricular repolarisation.  相似文献

We have measured the osmotic permeability of the basolateral cell membrane (Poscb) and compared it with the transepithelial permeability (Poste) to calculate the paracellular (Posp) permeability of the upper malpighian tubules (UMT) of the 5th instar of Rhodnius prolixus under several experimental conditions, namely, at rest and after stimulation to secrete with 5-HT, each under control conditions (no treatment), after treatment with pCMBS, and after addition of pCMBS and DTT. Secretion rate is negligible at rest. During stimulation mean secretion rate is 43.5 nl/cm2 sec. Secretion is severely curtailed by pCMBS and fully restored by DTT. Poscb = 9.4 (resting, control); 5.8 (control + pCMBS); 10.7 (control + pCMBS + DTT); 20.6 (stimulated, control); 14.7 (stimulated + pCMBS); 49.1 (stimulated + pCMBS + DTT) (x10?4 cm3/cm2 sec Osm). Calculated Posp are higher than the transcellular permeability, Posc, at rest and after stimulation. Electron micrograph morphometry of UMT sections show that cells significantly decrease their volume after stimulation. Lateral intercellular space (LIS) and basolateral extracellular labyrinth (BEL) are barely discernible at rest. LIS and BEL are widely dilated in stimulated UMT. Thus, ions have restricted access to the deep and narrow basolateral cell membrane indentations at rest, but they have ready access to cell membrane indentations after stimulation, because of the opening of LIS and BEL. These findings are discussed in relation to isosmotic secretion. The rate-limiting step for paracellular movement is located at the smooth septate junctions.  相似文献

The level of sympathetic nervous activity was assessed by evaluating cardiovascular responses to a cold test in 63 vibration-exposed workers (50 subjects without vibration white finger (VWF) and 13 subjects at stages 1 and 2 of VWF) and in 41 controls. Blood pressure, heart rate, systolic time intervals and the skin temperature of the third finger of the right hand were monitored throughout the cold test period. Basal urinary excretion of free catecholamines and platelet aggregation indices both in vitro and in vivo were also determined in all subjects. Systolic time intervals such as electromechanical systole index (QS2I) and left ventricular ejection time index (LVETI) were found to be shorter in the vibration-exposed workers with and without VWF than in the controls, both at rest and during cold exposure and recovery (p less than 0.001). A significant inverse relationship between urinary free catecholamines and the duration of LVETI was observed under resting conditions (p less than 0.03). The recovery rate of the basal finger skin temperature after local cooling was slower in vibration workers with VWF than in those without VWF (p less than 0.05) and in the controls (p less than 0.001). Platelet aggregation indices were similar in all groups studied. The results suggest that the level of sympathetic nervous activity is higher in vibration-exposed workers than in controls. In subjects with VWF, sympathetic hyperactivity in combination with local factors such as vibration-induced hyperresponsiveness to cold of the digital vessels may be responsible for finger blanching attacks.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

用无创法(阻抗法)测量了40名青年学生和40名运动员在两种运动负荷(50W和150W)运动前、运动后即刻和恢复时程的收缩时间间期(STI)和心率(HR)。在静态时,“运动员组”的心率较缓(P<0.01)、QS_1较长(P<0.05)、PEP/LVET比值较大(P<0.05和P<0.01)、LVETc较短(P<0.001)。运动后即刻,“学生组”和“运动员组”都表现为QS_z、LVET、PEP、IVCT、QS_1缩短、PEP/LVET比值减小、心率增速和LVETc延长。但“运动员组”QS_2、LYET的缩短和心率增速的程度较少,而PEP/LVET比值的减小和LVETc延长的程度较大。除PEP/LVET比值外,其余各项指标的恢复速度均与负荷量有关。“运动员组”的恢复速度较快,尤其在150W时更为明显。本文指出:1)用阻抗法测算动态下的STI更为实用;2)系统训练可提高心脏活动的潜力,改善泵功能,促进心脏活动的调节速度。  相似文献

QT-RR hysteresis is characterized by longer QT intervals at a given RR interval while heart rates are increasing during exercise and shorter QT intervals at the same RR interval while heart rates are decreasing during recovery. It has been attributed to a lagging QT response to different directional changes in RR interval during exercise and recovery. Twenty control subjects (8 males, age 51 ± 6 yr), 16 subjects with type 2 diabetes (12 males, age 56 ± 8 yr), 71 subjects with coronary artery disease (CAD) and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (≥50%) (51 males, age 59 ± 12 yr), and 17 CAD subjects with depressed LVEF (<50%) (13 males, age 57 ± 10 yr) underwent two 16-min exercise tests followed by recovery. In session 2, parasympathetic blockade with atropine (0.04 mg/kg) was achieved at end exercise. QT-RR hysteresis was quantified as: 1) the area bounded by the QT-RR relationships for exercise and recovery in the range of the minimum RR interval at peak exercise to the minimum RR interval + 100 ms and 2) the difference in QT interval duration between exercise and recovery at the minimum RR interval achieved during peak exercise plus 50 ms (ΔQT). The effect of parasympathetic blockade was assessed by substituting the QT-RR relationship after parasympathetic blockade. QT-RR hysteresis was positive in all groups at baseline and reversed by parasympathetic blockade (P < 0.01). We conclude that QT-RR hysteresis is not caused by different directional changes in RR interval during exercise and recovery. Instead, it is predominantly mediated by differential autonomic nervous system effects as the heart rate increases during exercise vs. as it decreases during recovery.  相似文献

Our purpose was to determine the effect of eight different combinations of contraction intensity, duration, and rest on the rate of fatigue in vastus lateralis muscle. A single combination consisted of contractions at 30 or 70% maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), held for 3 or 7 s with 3- or 7-s rest intervals. Contractions were repeated until the subject could not hold the force for the requisite duration. At regular intervals during each experiment, a brief MVC, a single twitch, and the response to eight stimulation pulses at 50 Hz were elicited. The rate of fatigue was the rate of decline of MVC calculated from regression analysis. Mean rate of fatigue (n = 8) ranged from 0.3 to 25% MVC/min and was closely related (r = 0.98) to the product of the relative force and the duty cycle. Force from 50 Hz stimulation fell linearly and in parallel with MVC. Twitch force was first potentiated and then fell twice as fast as 50 Hz stimulation and MVC (p less than 0.05). Differentiated twitch contraction and relaxation rates were higher at potentiation and lower at the limit of endurance, compared with control values (p less than 0.05). The maximal electromyogram decreased 25% and the submaximal EMG increased to maximal by the end of the protocol, indicating that the entire motor unit pool had been recruited. The close relation between rate of fatigue and the force x time product probably reflects the off-setting interaction of contraction amplitude, duration, and rest interval. This occurs despite the changes in twitch characteristics and the apparent recruitment of fast fatiguing motor units.  相似文献

Noninvasive measurement of cardiac output (QT) is problematic during heavy exercise. We report a new approach that avoids unpleasant rebreathing and resultant changes in alveolar PO(2) or PCO(2) by measuring short-term acetylene (C(2)H(2)) uptake by an open-circuit technique, with application of mass balance for the calculation of QT. The method assumes that alveolar and arterial C(2)H(2) pressures are the same, and we account for C(2)H(2) recirculation by extrapolating end-tidal C(2)H(2) back to breath 1 of the maneuver. We correct for incomplete gas mixing by using He in the inspired mixture. The maneuver involves switching the subject to air containing trace amounts of C(2)H(2) and He; ventilation and pressures of He, C(2)H(2), and CO(2) are measured continuously (the latter by mass spectrometer) for 20-25 breaths. Data from three subjects for whom multiple Fick O(2) measurements of QT were available showed that measurement of QT by the Fick method and by the C(2)H(2) technique was statistically similar from rest to 90% of maximal O(2) consumption (VO(2 max)). Data from 12 active women and 12 elite male athletes at rest and 90% of VO(2 max) fell on a single linear relationship, with O(2) consumption (VO(2)) predicting QT values of 9.13, 15.9, 22.6, and 29.4 l/min at VO(2) of 1, 2, 3, and 4 l/min. Mixed venous PO(2) predicted from C(2)H(2)-determined QT, measured VO(2), and arterial O(2) concentration was approximately 20-25 Torr at 90% of VO(2 max) during air breathing and 10-15 Torr during 13% O(2) breathing. This modification of previous gas uptake methods, to avoid rebreathing, produces reasonable data from rest to heavy exercise in normal subjects.  相似文献

In rats, pseudopregnancy has been induced by mating with vasectomized males, by mechanical stimulation of the uterine cervix with a glass rod or vibrator, and by stimulation of the vagina with a tampon. On the other hand, no practical data are available in reports on the induction of pseudopregnancy in Mongolian gerbils. Pseudopregnancy of gerbils has been induced by mating with vasectomized males. But this method was uncertain because the incidence of pseudopregnancy was lower than that obtained in rats by other means. In the present study, two experiments were undertaken as follows. 1) Copulatory behavior of gerbils was observed for one hour to determine the most effective stimulation interval. 2) From the results of Experiment 1, female gerbils in estrus were mechanically stimulated to test the effectiveness of inducing pseudopregnancy by vaginal stimulation at various time intervals. The results of these experiments indicated that, although the frequency of copulatory behavior varied among individuals, on average the most effective method for inducing pseudopregnancy was stimulation of 5 min duration and at 20 or 30 min intervals. Because the incidence of pseudopregnancy induced by such mechanical stimulation (83.3%) was higher than that induced by mating with vasectomized males (30.0%), this method might be useful in inducing pseudopregnancy in Mongolian gerbils.  相似文献

Myocardial hypertrophy (MH) due to cardiac pathology is characterized by an increase in QT interval duration and dispersion, while the findings for exercise-induced myocardial hypertrophy are contradictory. The majority of published research findings have not explored this relationship, but there have only been a few conducted studies using 24-hour ECG monitoring. The aim of the study was to determine the QT interval duration and dispersion in short-term and 24-hour ECG in endurance athletes with myocardial hypertrophy and without it. Methods: A total of 26 well-trained rowers underwent a resting 12-lead ECG, 24-hour ECG monitoring and echocardiography. Results: Athletes with MH (n = 7) at rest did not show any increase in QTc interval duration and dispersion, or mean and maximal QTc duration in Holter monitoring compared to athletes without MH (n = 19). Left ventricular mass was not significantly correlated with any QTc characteristics. Furthermore, athletes with MH had significantly longer mean QT (P = 0.01) and maximal QT (P = 0.018) intervals in Holter monitoring and higher 24-hour heart rate variability indexes due to stronger vagal effects. Conclusions: The present study demonstrated that athlete''s heart syndrome with myocardial hypertrophy as a benign phenomenon does not lead to an increase in QT interval duration, or increases in maximal and mean duration in a 24-hour ECG. An increase in QT interval duration in athletes may have an autonomic nature.  相似文献

Hypoxia potentiates the ventilatory response to exercise, eliciting a greater decrease in arterial PCO2 (PaCO2) from rest to exercise than in normoxia. The mechanism of this hypoxia-exercise interaction requires intact carotid chemoreceptors. To determine whether carotid chemoreceptor stimulation alone is sufficient to elicit the mechanism without whole body hypoxia, ventilatory responses to treadmill exercise were compared in goats during hyperoxic control conditions, moderate hypoxia (PaO2 = 38-44 Torr), and peripheral chemoreceptor stimulation with the peripheral dopamine D2-receptor antagonist, domperidone (Dom; 0.5 mg/kg iv). Measurements with Dom were made in both hyperoxia (Dom) and hypoxia (Dom/hypoxia). Finally, ventilatory responses to inspired CO2 at rest were compared in each experimental condition because enhanced CO2 chemoreception might be expected to blunt the PaCO2 decrease during exercise. At rest, PaCO2 decreased from control with Dom (-5.0 +/- 0.9 Torr), hypoxia (-4.1 +/- 0.5 Torr), and Dom/hypoxia (-11.1 +/- 1.2 Torr). The PaCO2 decrease from rest to exercise was not significantly different between control (-1.7 +/- 0.6 Torr) and Dom (-1.4 +/- 0.8 Torr) but was significantly greater in hypoxia (-4.3 +/- 0.7 Torr) and Dom/hypoxia (-3.5 +/- 0.9 Torr). The slope of the ventilation vs. CO2 production relationship in exercise increased with Dom (16%), hypoxia (18%), and Dom/hypoxia (68%). We studied the effect of edema on the regional distribution of pulmonary blood flow in 12 anesthetized dogs. Two were controls, six had low-pressure pulmonary edema, and four had high-pressure pulmonary edema. All were ventilated with 100% O2. The physiological shunt fraction (Qs/QT), as an indicator of the degree of venous admixture, was determined by measuring the arterial and venous blood gases and the hemoglobin at different times during the experiment. Cardiac output (QT) was modestly increased by opening the femoral arteriovenous shunts. The initial regional blood flow (Qi) and final regional blood flow (Qf) were marked before and after the shunts were opened, using two differently labeled macroaggregates. The dogs were then killed, and the lungs were removed and sampled completely so that Qi and Qf and the amount of regional extravascular lung water (Wdl) in each regional sample could be measured (sample size: wet wt = 5.9 +/- 2.9 g, n = 833; Wdl ranged from 5.15 +/- 1.18 to 14.42 +/- 2.34 g). The data show that QS/QT increased as QT increased in the three conditions studied. However, there was no correlation between Wdl and Qi, Qf, or the relative change in regional blood flow. The data also show that gravity affects regional blood flow more than it affects regional edema. We conclude that the increased Qs/QT seen with increased pulmonary blood flow cannot be explained by a preferential increase of blood flow to the more edematous regions.  相似文献

The aim of the current study was to establish the quantitative relationship between plasma potassium concentrations and the QT interval of the electrocardiogram in dogs. Furosemide, a potent diuretic, was given at increasing doses (5-60 mg/kg) to five male and five female beagle dogs. Electrocardiogram (ECG) was recorded three times each day, simultaneous to blood sampling for measurement of plasma potassium. Furosemide treatment produced a clear hypokalaemia, which was associated with an increase in QT and corrected QT intervals (QTc) duration. On average, the slopes of the negative linear correlation between potassium plasma levels and QT or QTc were steeper in females than in males. These results show that a decrease in potassium plasma level may explain a concomitant increase in QT duration in a toxicity study in dogs, in particular if potassium values are decreased below 3.3 mmol/L. Correction of QT interval for K+ plasma level has, therefore, been established separately for males and females. A global formula correcting QT for K+ and heart rate simultaneously was established. Hypokalaemia was also associated with changes in the morphology of the T wave recorded in CV5RL, in particular, with a flattening and/or a notching of the wave (appearance of a second peak), biphasic aspect or inversion of polarity. These changes are probably related to an increased heterogeneity of repolarization between different populations of cardiomyocytes. In conclusion, hypokalaemia is quantitatively associated with an increase in QT and QTc duration in dogs. The relationship is apparently stronger for females than for males. A formula may be used to correct QT for potassium plasma level.  相似文献

The electrical and mechanical activities of myocardial strips from Rana pipiens were studied in the steady state at various stimulation frequencies and after a period of rest. The temperature of the bath was varied between + 12 and 35 degrees C. Normal myocardium was compared with that damaged by isoproterenol (ISO). The percentage change of action potential durations (APD50) and isometric force (P) was similar in ISO-damaged and control hearts at various bath temperatures with steady state stimulation rates between 20 and 100/min. At low stimulation rates (3-6/min) the prolongation of the action potential (AP) was more pronounced and the P-decrease was less in ISO-damaged myocardium compared to controls. These differences became more apparent at low bath temperatures. After 10 min of rest, APD50-90 was significantly prolonged in ISO-damaged heart and P was increased by a factor of 2 compared to controls (stimulation rate 20/min). Steady state values, on the other hand, were nearly the same in both groups.
