The abundance and composition of phytoplankton were investigated at six stations along a transect from the Barguzin River inflow to the central basin of Lake Baikal in August 2002 to clarify the effect of the river inflow on the phytoplankton community in the lake. The water temperature in the epilimnion was high near the shore at Station 1 (17.3°C), probably due to the higher temperature of the river water, and gradually decreased offshore at Station 6 (14.5°C). Thermal stratification developed at Stations 2–6, and a thermocline was observed at a 17–22-m depth at Stations 2–4 and an 8–12-m depth at Stations 5 and 6. The concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients in the epilimnion at all stations were <1.0 μmol N l−1 and <0.16 μmol P l−1, respectively. Relatively high concentrations of nutrients (0.56–7.38 μmol N l−1 and 0.03–0.28 μmol P l−1) were detected in the deeper parts of the euphotic zone. Silicate was not exhausted at all stations (>20 μmol Si l−1). The chlorophyll a (chl. a) concentration was high (>10 μg l−1) near the shore at Station 1 and low (<3 μg l−1) at five other stations. The <2 μm fraction of chl. a in Stations 2–6 ranged between 0.80 and 1.85 μg l−1, and its contribution to total chl. a was high (>60%). In this fraction, picocyanobacteria were abundant at all stations and ranged between 5 × 104 and 5 × 105 cells ml−1. In contrast, chl. a in the >2 μm fraction varied significantly (0.14–11.17 μg l−1), and the highest value was observed at Station 1. In this fraction, the dominant phytoplankton was Aulacoseira and centric diatoms at Station 1 and Cryptomonas, Ankistrodesmus, Asterionella, and Nitzschia at Stations 2–6. The present study demonstrated the dominance of picophytoplankton in the pelagic zone, while higher abundance of phytoplankton dominated by diatoms was observed in the shallower littoral zone. These larger phytoplankters in the littoral zone probably depend on nutrients from the Barguzin River.  相似文献

Semi-labile dissolved organic carbon (DOC) plays an important role in the transport and hypolimnetic remineralization of carbon in large freshwater lakes. However, sources of semi-labile DOC in lakes remain unclear. This study used a carbon stable isotope approach to examine relative contributions of autochthonous and allochthonous sources to semi-labile DOC. Vertical and seasonal variations in the concentration and carbon stable isotope ratio (δ13C) of DOC were determined in large (surface area 674 km2; maximum depth 104 m), monomictic Lake Biwa. A sharp vertical gradient of δ13C of DOC (δ13C-DOC) during the stratification period [mean ± standard error (SE) −25.5 ± 0.1 and −26.0 ± 0.0‰ in the epi- and hypolimnion, respectively] indicated the accumulation of 13C-rich DOC in the epilimnion. Vertical mixing explained the intermediate values of δ13C-DOC (−25.7 ± 0.0‰) measured throughout the water column during the overturn period. Both DOC concentration and δ13C-DOC decreased in the hypolimnion during stratification, indicating selective remineralization of 13C-rich DOC. Using a two-component mixing model, we estimated the δ13C value of semi-labile DOC to be −22.2 ± 0.3‰, which was close to the δ13C of particulate organic carbon collected in the epilimnion during productive seasons (−22.7 ± 0.7‰) but much higher than the δ13C-DOC in river waters (−26.5 ± 0.1‰). Semi-labile DOC appeared to be mainly autochthonous in origin, produced by planktonic communities during productive seasons. The spatiotemporal uncoupling between production and remineralization of semi-labile DOC implies that hypolimnetic oxygen consumption may be affected by pelagic primary production during productive seasons of the preceding year.  相似文献

Physical, biogeochemical and photosynthetic parameters were measured in sea ice brine and ice core bottom samples in the north-western Weddell Sea during early spring 2006. Sea ice brines collected from sackholes were characterised by cold temperatures (range −7.4 to −3.8°C), high salinities (range 61.4–118.0), and partly elevated dissolved oxygen concentrations (range 159–413 μmol kg−1) when compared to surface seawater. Nitrate (range 0.5–76.3 μmol kg−1), dissolved inorganic phosphate (range 0.2–7.0 μmol kg−1) and silicic acid (range 74–285 μmol kg−1) concentrations in sea ice brines were depleted when compared to surface seawater. In contrast, NH4 + (range 0.3–23.0 μmol kg−1) and dissolved organic carbon (range 140–707 μmol kg−1) were enriched in the sea ice brines. Ice core bottom samples exhibited moderate temperatures and brine salinities, but high algal biomass (4.9–435.5 μg Chl a l−1 brine) and silicic acid depletion. Pulse amplitude modulated fluorometry was used for the determination of the photosynthetic parameters F v/F m, α, rETRmax and E k. The maximum quantum yield of photosystem II, F v/F m, ranged from 0.101 to 0.500 (average 0.284 ± 0.132) and 0.235 to 0.595 (average 0.368 ± 0.127) in the sea ice internal and bottom communities, respectively. The fluorometric measurements indicated medium ice algal photosynthetic activity both in the internal and bottom communities of the sea ice. An observed lack of correlation between biogeochemical and photosynthetic parameters was most likely due to temporally and spatially decoupled physical and biological processes in the sea ice brine channel system, and was also influenced by the temporal and spatial resolution of applied sampling techniques.  相似文献

We conducted a transect survey of water quality and bottom sediments in a large tropical reservoir, the Cirata Reservoir, located on the Citarum River, West Java, Indonesia. In the main basin of this reservoir, the surface water contained high concentrations of chlorophyll a, up to 48 μg l−1, and most of the water body was occupied by thick anoxic water. The thickness of the surface oxygenated water was only 5–7 m, whereas that of the anoxic water mass was more than 70 m. The concentrations of phosphate and ammonia were quite high in the anoxic hypolimnion. The reasons for the formation of the huge anoxic water mass include the oligomictic status of circulation, a relatively weak mixing caused by topography, high hypolimnion temperature, and high loads of organic matter. The carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratios and the carbon stable isotope ratios of sediments indicated that the major source of organic carbon in the sediments was algal production in the reservoir and fish culture activity. The mechanism of eutrophication in the reservoir is also discussed.  相似文献

We compared on eight dates during the ice-free period physicochemical properties and rates of phytoplankton and epipelic primary production in six arctic lakes dominated by soft bottom substrate. Lakes were classified as shallow ( < 2.5 m), intermediate in depth (2.5 m <  < 4.5 m), and deep ( > 4.5 m), with each depth category represented by two lakes. Although shallow lakes circulated freely and intermediate and deep lakes stratified thermally for the entire summer, dissolved oxygen concentrations were always >70% of saturation values. Soluble reactive phosphorus and dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN = NO3 –N + NH4 +–N) were consistently below the detection limit (0.05 μmol l−1) in five lakes. However, one lake shallow lake (GTH 99) periodically showed elevated values of DIN (17 μmol l−1), total-P (0.29 μmol l−1), and total-N (33 μmol l−1), suggesting wind-generated sediment resuspension. Due to increased nutrient availability or entrainment of microphytobenthos, GTH 99 showed the highest average volume-based values of phytoplankton chlorophyll a (chl a) and primary production, which for the six lakes ranged from 1.0 to 2.9 μg l−1 and 0.7–3.8 μmol C l−1 day−1. Overall, however, increased resulted in increased area-based values of phytoplankton chl a and primary production, with mean values for the three lake classes ranging from 3.6 to 6.1 mg chl a m−2 and 3.2–5.8 mmol C m−2 day−1. Average values of epipelic chl a ranged from 131 to 549 mg m−2 for the three depth classes, but levels were not significantly different due to high spatial variability. However, average epipelic primary production was significantly higher in shallow lakes (12.2 mmol C m−2 day−1) than in intermediate and deep lakes (3.4 and 2.4 mmol C m−2 day−1). Total primary production (6.7–15.4 mmol C m−2 day−1) and percent contribution of the epipelon (31–66%) were inversely related to mean depth, such that values for both variables were significantly higher in shallow lakes than in intermediate or deep lakes. Seasonal changes in the phytoplankton community of a small tropical reservoir were monitored over a four year period comprising of an initial two seasonal cycles during which the water column stratified strongly for extended periods each year, and two further seasonal cycles after installation of a mechanical aeration system to induce artificial destratification. In the unmanaged reservoir, the concentration of chlorophyll a at 0.5 m reached maximum values (on one occasion > 90 mg m−3) when the water column was stratified and the epilimnion was very shallow (ca 2 m depth). The hypolimnion at this time was anoxic (less than 2% oxygen saturation) and had a high concentration of bacteriochlorophyll (100–200 mg m−3). The phytoplankton community of the unmanaged reservoir was generally dominated by cyanobacteria (Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii, Anabaena tenericaulis) during the warmer months of the year (November–March) (but replaced by chlorophyta, dinophyceae and euglenophyceae after periods of intense rain) and by bacillariophyceae (Synedra ulna var. chaseana, S. tenera) during the cooler, dry months. In the artificially destratified reservoir (8 h aeration day−1), the phytoplankton community was largely dominated by diatoms except after depletion of the silica content of the water column which caused diatoms to be replaced by cyanobacteria (dominated by A. tenericaulis) and a range of chlorophytes. The changing pattern of stratification and circulation of the water column in the unmanaged reservoir caused repeated disruption of the established phytoplankton assemblage with peaks of high biomass associated with transient cyanobacterial blooms. Continuous aeration and the consequent increase in the ratio mixed: euphotic depth provided conditions suitable for dominance of the phytoplankton by diatoms, as long as silica was available, and resulted in average chlorophyll levels higher than in the unmanaged reservoir (120 ± 10 v. 64 ± 9 mg m−2). Hierarchical fusion analysis based on the biomass of species differentiated the phytoplankton samples into cluster groups that could be related primarily to stratification or mixing of the water column.  相似文献

Two 60-day experiments were conducted to study the influence of photon flux density (PFD) and temperature on the attachment and development of Gloiopeltis tenax and Gloiopeltis furcata tetraspores. In the first experiment, tetraspores of the two Gloiopeltis species were incubated at five temperature ranges (8°C, 12°C, 16°C, 20°C, 24°C) under a constant PFD of 80 μmol photons m−2 s−1 with a photoperiod of 12:12. In a second experiment, tetraspores were incubated under five PFD gradients (30, 55, 80, 105, 130 μmol photons m−2 s−1) at a constant temperature of 16°C with a photoperiod of 12:12. Maximum density of attached tetraspores was observed at 16°C for both species. Maximum per cent of spore germinating into disc was recorded at 12–16°C for G. tenax and 8–12°C for G. furcata. Maximum per cent of discs producing erect axes for G. tenax and G. furcata were recorded at 24°C and 20°C, respectively. Light had no significant effect on tetraspore attachment and developing into disc, but it affected the growth, sprouting and survival of its discs. Under 30–55 μmol photons m−2 s−1, the discs of the two species of Gloiopeltis did not form thallus until the end of the experiment. Optimum PFD range for G. tenax discs was 80–105 μmol photons m−2 s−1, whilst it was 80–130 μmol photons m−2 s−1 for G. furcata. Results presented in this study are expected to assist the progress of artificial seeding of Gloiopeltis.  相似文献

The data on microclimate were collected between 2010 and 2011 in five forest communities (dry miscellaneous, sal mixed, lowland miscellaneous, teak and savannah) in a tropical moist deciduous forest in Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, Uttar Pradesh, India to compare how vegetation structure affects microclimate. Diurnal variations in microclimatic variables [photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) at forest understory level, air temperature, soil surface temperature, ambient CO2, air absolute humidity] were measured with LI-COR 840, LI-COR 191, LI-COR 190 SZ, LI-1400-101 and LI-1400-103 (LI-COR; Lincoln, NE, USA) at centre of three 0.5 ha plots in each forest community. The diurnal trend in microclimatic parameters showed wide variations among communities. PAR at forest floor ranged from 0.0024 to 1289.9 (μmol m−2s−1) in post-monsoon season and 0.0012 to 1877.3 (μmol m−2s−1) in mid-winter season. Among the five communities, the highest PAR value was observed in savannah and lowest in sal mixed forest. All the forest communities received maximum PAR at forest floor between 1000 and 1200 h. The ambient air temperature ranged from 19.15 to 26.69°C in post-monsoon season and 11.31 to 23.03°C in mid-winter season. Soil temperature ranged from 13.54 to 36.88°C in post-monsoon season and 6.39 to 29.17°C in mid-winter season. Ambient CO2 ranged from 372.16 to 899.14 μmol mol−1 in post-monsoon season and 396.65 to 699.65 μmol mol−1 in mid-winter season. In savannah ecosystem, diurnal trend of ambient CO2 was totally different from rest four communities. According to Canonical correspondence analysis, PAR and ambient CO2 are most important in establishment of forest community, among microclimatic variables.  相似文献

Cell cultures of Cayratia trifolia (Vitaceae), a tropical lianas, were maintained in Murashige and Skoog’s medium containing 0.25 mg l−1 NAA, 0.2 mg l−1 kinetin and casein hydrolysate 250 mg l−1. Cell suspension cultures of C. trifolia accumulate stilbenes (piceid, resveratrol, viniferin, ampelopsin), which on elicitation by any of 500 μM salicylic acid, 100 μM methyl jasmonate, 500 μM ethrel and 500 mg l−1 yeast extract, added on the 7th day, were enhanced by 3- to 6-fold (5–11 mg l−1) by the 15th day.  相似文献

The present study reports a simple protocol for indirect shoot organogenesis and plant regeneration of Sutherlandia using rachis and stem segments. Different concentrations (0.0–68.08 μmol l−1) of thidiazuron (TDZ) were used for callus induction and shoot organogenesis. The highest percentage of callus formation (97.5%) and the highest percentage of explants forming shoots (88.8%) were obtained from rachis explants cultured onto Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium (Murashige and Skoog, Physiol. Plant. 15:473–495, 1962) supplemented with 45.41 μmol l−1 TDZ. Scanning electron microscopy demonstrated the early development of adventitious shoots derived from callus cultures. Shoot clusters were further developed and grown in MS hormone-free medium. The presence of l-canavanine was determined by thin-layer chromatography and confirmed after column fractionation using silica gel and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Individual shoots were rooted on different concentrations and combinations of MS salt strength and IBA. Half-strength MS salt medium supplemented with 24.6 μmol l−1 IBA was optimal for root induction in which 78% of shoots were rooted. The in vitro plants were successfully acclimatized in a growth chamber with a 90% survival rate.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to investigate the capability of Haloarcula marismortui to synthesize esterases and lipases, and the effect of physicochemical conditions on the growth and the production of esterases and lipases. Finally, the effect of NaCl concentration and temperature on esterase and lipase activities was studied using intracellular crude extracts. In order to confirm the genomic prediction about the esterase and lipase synthesis, H. marismortui was cultured on a rich medium and the crude extracts (intra- or extracellular) obtained were assayed for both activities using p-nitrophenyl esters and triacylglycerides as substrates. Studies on the kinetics of growth and production of esterase and lipase of H. marismortui were performed, reaching a maximum growth rate of 0.053 h−1 and maximal productions of intracellular esterase and lipase of 2.094 and 0.722 U l−1 using p-nitrophenyl valerate and p-nitrophenyl laurate, respectively. Both enzymes were produced as growth-associated metabolites. The effects of temperature, pH, and NaCl concentration on the growth rate and production of enzymes were studied by using a Box–Behnken response surface design. The three response variables were significantly influenced by the physicochemical factors and an interaction effect between temperature and NaCl concentration was also evidenced. The surface response method estimated the following maximal values for growth rate and productions of esterase and lipase: 0.086 h−1 (at 42.5°C, pH 7.4, and 3.6 mol l−1 NaCl), 2.3 U l−1 (at 50°C, pH 7.5, and 4.3 mol l−1 NaCl), and 0.58 U l−1 (at 50°C, pH 7.6, and 4.5 mol l−1 NaCl), respectively. Esterases were active at different salt concentrations, showing two optimal activities (at 0.5 and 5 mol l−1 NaCl), which suggested the presence of two different esterases. Interestingly, in the absence of salt, esterase retained 50% residual activity. Esterases and lipase activities were maximal at 45°C and inactive at 75°C. This study represents the first report evidencing the synthesis of esterase and lipase by H. marismortui.  相似文献

In vitro physiology and carbon metabolism can be affected by the sink–source relationship. The effect of different sucrose concentrations (10, 30, and 50 g L−1), light intensities (80 and 150 μmol m−2 s−1), and CO2 levels (375 and 1,200 μmol mol−1) were tested during plantain micropropagation in temporary immersion bioreactors. Activities of pyruvate kinase, phosphoenol pyruvate carboxylase, and the photosynthesis rate were recorded. From the morphological and practical point of view, the best results were obtained when plants were cultured with 30 g L−1 sucrose, 80 μmol m−2 s−1 light intensity, and 1,200 μmol mol−1 CO2 concentration. This treatment improved leaf and root development, reduced respiration during in vitro culture, and increased starch level at the end of the hardening phase. In addition to that, the number of competent plants was increased from 80.0% to 91.0% at the end of the in vitro phase and the survival percentage from 95.71% to 99.80% during ex vitro hardening.  相似文献

To understand how chemoreceptor organs may extract temporal information from odor plumes, we investigated the frequency filter properties of lobster chemoreceptor cells. We used rapid stimulation and high-resolution stimulus measurement for accurate stimulus control and recorded extracellular responses from chemoreceptors in the lobster lateral antennule in situ. We tested 16 hydroxyproline-sensitive cells with a series of ten 100-ms pulses at 10, 100 and 1000 μmol l−1 at stimulation frequencies from 0.5 Hz to 4 Hz. Receptor cell responses could accurately encode 10 μmol l−1, but not 100 or 1000 μmol l−1 pulses, delivered at rates of 4 Hz. Flicker-fusion frequency and synchronization with the stimulus pulse train were concentration dependent: performance rates above 1 Hz became poorer both with increasing pulse amplitude and frequency. Flicker fusion frequency was 3 Hz for 100 μmol l−1 pulses and 2 Hz for 1000 μmol l−1 pulses. Individual cells showed differences in their stimulus pulse following capabilities, as measured by the synchronization coefficient. These individual differences may form a basis for coding temporal features of an odor plume in an across-fiber pattern. Accepted: 7 July 1999  相似文献

Using ectoine-excreting strain Halomonas salina DSM 5928T, we developed a new process for high-efficiency production of ectoine, which involved a combined process of batch fermentation by growing cells and production by resting cells. In the first stage, batch fermentation was carried out using growing cells under optimal fermentation conditions. The second stage was the production phase, in which ectoine was synthesized and excreted by phosphate-limited resting cells. Optimal conditions for synthesis and excretion of ectoine during batch fermentation in a 10 l fermentor were 0.5 mol l−1 NaCl and an initial monosodium glutamate concentration of 80 g l−1 respectively. The pH was adjusted to 7.0 and the temperature was maintained at 33°C. In phosphate-limited resting cells medium, monosodium glutamate and NaCl concentration was 200 g l−1 and 0.5 mol l−1, respectively, as well as pH was 7.0. The total concentration of ectoine produced was 14.86 g l−1, the productivity and yield of ectoine was 7.75 g l−1 day−1 and 0.14 g g−1, respectively, and the percentage of ectoine excreted was 79%. These levels of ectoine production and excretion are the highest reported to date.  相似文献

In January 2004 the microplankton community from the coastal waters of Terre Adélie and Georges V Land (139°E–145°E) was studied. Results showed a diatom-dominated bloom with chlorophyll a levels averaging 0.64 μg l−1 at 5 m depth (range 0.21–1.57 μg l−1). Three geographic assemblages of diatoms were identified, based on principal diatom taxa abundances. The stratified waters near the Mertz Glacier presented highest phytoplankton biomasses (0.28–1.57 μg Chl a l−1 at 5 m) and diatom abundances (6,507–70,274 cells l−1 at 5 m), but low diversity, dominated by Fragilariopsis spp. Lower biomasses (0.38–0.94 μg Chl a l−1 at 5 m) and abundances (394–9,058 cells l−1 at 5 m) were observed in the mixed waters around the Astrolabe Glacier with a diverse diatom community characterised by larger species Corethron pennatum and Rhizosolenia spp. Finally an intermediate zone between them over the shallower shelf waters of the Adélie Bank represented by Chaetoceros criophilus, where biomasses (0.21–0.35 μg Chl a l−1 at 5 m) and abundances (1,190–5,431 cells l−1 at 5 m) were lowest, coinciding with the presence of abundant herbivorous zooplankton.  相似文献

The Root cultures of Cayratia trifolia (Vitaceae) a tropical lianas, were maintained in liquid Murashige and Skoog’s medium containing 0.5 mg l−1 NAA, 0.1 mg l−1 kinetin with 3% sucrose. These root cultures when grown with 6% sucrose accumulated stilbenes (piceid, resveratrol, viniferin, ampelopsin) in high amounts, which on elicitation by 500 mg l−1 yeast extract, 50 μM salicylic acid (SA), 50 μM methyl jasmonate (MeJa), 500 μM ethrel added at 25th day, increased up to ninefolds (7.1 mg l−1). Addition of alar or phenylalanine along with the elicitors further enhanced the stilbenes content. In the present study, stilbenes accumulation up to 12 folds (9.2 mg l−1) was obtained with SA and alar. The SA was the most effective in increasing the stilbenes contents while less than control values were recorded in the cells treated with MeJa. The roots could be grown up to 2 l flasks. The present work demonstrates that presence of precursor and sucrose during elicitation at an appropriate time combined with growth retardation significantly increased the production of stilbenes in C. trifolia cell cultures.  相似文献

Detached leaves of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) experienced photoinhibition associated with sharp reductions in net photosynthetic rate (Pn), quantum efficiency of PSII (ΦPSII) and photochemical quenching (qP) even though they were exposed to mild light intensity (400 μmol m−2 s−1 PPFD) at 28°C. Photoinhibition and the reduction in Pn, ΦPSII and qP, however, were significantly alleviated by 1 mg l−1 ABA, 0.1 mg l−1 N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N′-phenylurea (CPPU) and 0.01 mg l−1 24-epibrassinolide (EBR). Higher concentrations, however, reduced the effects or even exacerbated the occurrence of photoinhibition. Superoxide dismutase and ascorbate peroxidase activity in leaves increased with the increases in ABA concentration within 1–100 mg l−1, CPPU concentration within 0.1–10 mg l−1 and EBR concentration within 0.01–1.0 mg l−1. Catalase and guaiacol peroxidase activity also increased with the increase in EBR concentration but CPPU and ABA treatments at higher concentrations caused a decrease. Malondialdehyde (MDA) content decreased with the increase in CPPU concentration. ABA and EBR, however, decreased MDA concentration only at 1 and 0.01 mg l−1, respectively. In conclusion, detached leaves had increased sensitivity to PSII photoinhibition. Photoinhibition-induced decrease in photosynthesis, however, was significantly alleviated by EBR, CPPU and ABA at a proper concentration.  相似文献

The skin of intact, free-swimming Xenopus laevis transports Ca2+ inwardly in a manner that is proportional to the external [Ca2+] up to about 0.3 mmol · l−1, saturates above 0.3 mmol · l−1, and is opposed to the electrochemical gradient. Efflux is relatively constant at external concentrations between 0.016 and 0.6 mmol · l−1; net flux which is negative below 0.125 mmol · l−1 becomes positive above this external [Ca2+]. Allometric analysis suggests that both Ca2+ influx and efflux scale to the 2/3 power approximately like surface area. There were no significant differences in influx between summer and fall animals; however, efflux was greater in the fall and this resulted in a change from positive balance in the summer to negative balance in the fall. Isolated skins were shown to support a Ca2+ uptake rate of nearly 30 nmol · cm−2 · h−1. The phenylalkylamine verapamil in the apical bathing solution significantly inhibited this at 25 μmol · l−1. The benzothiazepine diltiazem was also effective at 50 μmol · l−1 while the dihydropyradine nifedipine was ineffective up to 100 μmol · l−1. The inorganic ion La3+ was effective at blocking Ca2+ uptake at 300 μmol · l−1; Ni2+ was also effective at 500 μmol · l−1 but Co2+ was ineffective up to 500 μmol · l−1. These results suggest that apical calcium channels in Xenopuslaevis skin have properties similar to mammalian L-channels and fish gill Ca2+ channels. Accepted: 23 January 1997  相似文献

By simultaneously analyzing the chlorophyll a fluorescence transient and light absorbance at 820 nm as well as chlorophyll fluorescence quenching, we investigated the effects of different photon flux densities (0, 15, 200 μmol m−2 s−1) with or without 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea (DCMU) on the repair process of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) leaves after treatment with low temperature (6°C) combined with moderate photon flux density (200 μmol m−2 s−1) for 6 h. Both the maximal photochemical efficiency of Photosystem II (PSII) (F v/F m) and the content of active P700 (ΔI/I o) significantly decreased after chilling treatment under 200 μmol m−2 s−1 light. After the leaves were transferred to 25°C, F v/F m recovered quickly under both 200 and 15 μmol m−2 s−1 light. ΔI/I o recovered quickly under 15 μmol m−2 s−1 light, but the recovery rate of ΔI/I o was slower than that of F v/F m. The cyclic electron transport was inhibited by chilling-light treatment obviously. The recovery of ΔI/I o was severely suppressed by 200 μmol m−2 s−1 light, whereas a pretreatment with DCMU effectively relieved this suppression. The cyclic electron transport around PSI recovered in a similar way as the active P700 content did, and the recovery of them was both accelerated by pretreatment with DCMU. The results indicate that limiting electron transport from PSII to PSI protected PSI from further photoinhibition, accelerating the recovery of PSI. Under a given photon flux density, faster recovery of PSII compared to PSI was detrimental to the recovery of PSI or even to the whole photosystem.  相似文献
