In 1997, Aedes albopictus (Skuse 1894) was detected in Rome in two opposite areas of the city. In the following 2 years, the species quickly spread. In 2000, scattered foci of the species were reported in the whole urban area and in the outskirts of the capital city. In Rome, Ae. albopictus seems to have found optimal environmental conditions to proliferate and to overwinter through and without diapausing eggs. In ten years Ae. albopictus has colonized the whole urban area through three phases: first massive spread, following maintenance of infestation, and colonization of alternative winter breeding sites with favorable climatic conditions. Data collected during the 2007 show that rainfall is no longer the most important factor for the development of the species, with respect to the past. In fact Ae. albopictus probably has found new alternative larval breeding sites through the colonization of small water collections refilled periodically by human activities. During 2007-2008 winter season, in order to evaluate the species adaptability, a study of eggs hatching and length of larval cycle at low temperatures, was carried out in laboratory and in simulated field conditions. 【背景】芒果壮铗普瘿蚊是厦门市2000年发现为害芒果树的一种入侵害虫,并呈现逐年扩散趋势。【方法】本文于2009~2010年针对厦门市7个代表性地点(集美大学周边、同安小西门、思明湖滨南路、东渡周边、鼓浪屿、海沧沧虹路、杏林镇)的芒果壮铗普瘿蚊的为害率、为害程度及羽化率情况进行调查。将叶片上的虫瘿密度划分为3个等级,分别为1~50、51~100、〉100个·片-1。【结果】2009年春梢叶片受害率最高的为海沧区(95.46%),但与思明区(94.00%)、同安区(80.09%)没有显著差异,集美(22.50%)被害率显著低于其他区域;2009年秋梢海沧区叶片受害率达到97.05%,显著高于其他区域,集美受害率最低(18.00%);2010年春梢叶片受害率较低,均在3%以下,各区域差异不显著。2009~2010年的为害程度主要集中在1~50个·片-1,2009年春各区域的为害率普遍高于2009年秋和2010年春。羽化率比较结果表明,各区域瘿蚊的羽化率相当,2009年春均在80%左右波动,2009年秋为60%~94%,2010年春各区域瘿蚊的羽化率明显低于2009年。【结论与意义】由于厦门市2010年春气温明显低于2009年,造成调查时为害情况较轻。但从总体上看,芒果壮铗普瘿蚊在厦门市的发生情况较为严重。本研究可以为明确该虫的扩散趋势及制定防治措施提供依据。  相似文献

在我国首次发现了一种新的重要外来入侵害虫——刺槐叶瘿蚊Obolodiplosis robiniae (Haldemann)。该害虫原产北美洲东部,危害刺槐叶片。其危害特征十分明显:一般是3~8头幼虫群集危害,在刺槐叶片背面沿叶缘形成纵向卷曲的虫瘿,隐藏其中取食。在我国河北省秦皇岛市、辽宁省一些地区刺槐树的受害率近100%,严重影响刺槐的健康生长,进而引起次期性害虫的发生和危害,造成刺槐死亡。因此,该害虫对我国大面积栽培的刺槐林的生态、经济以及社会效益的发挥造成重大威胁。必须提高警惕,加强检疫,防止其扩散蔓延,并开展防治研究。  相似文献

In recent years leishmaniasis has become a serious Public Health problem in Italy. The coexistence of infected dogs, vectors and humans, makes urban areas suitable environment for the spread of this zoonotic disease. With the purpose to improve the current system for the control of leishmaniasis in urban areas, the authors report their experiences carrying out a Health Information System (HIS) for the surveillance of the disease in the city of Messina. The HIS project is built on a dataset containing geographical data on urban environment, census tracts at parish level and data of human and canine leishmaniasis cases reported in the last years. The HIS allows the spatial representation of the disease occurrence and can be used as a novel epidemiological tool to perform area-based surveillance.  相似文献

生态控制区是防止城市建设无序蔓延,保障城市生态安全的重要生态空间。对城市生态控制区进行分级管控能够充分发挥其在维护城市生态安全,促进城市建设与生态保护协同发展等方面的作用。研究基于多源数据融合手段,采用"生态系统服务重要性-生态敏感性-景观连通性"评价结果识别生态源地,采用最小累积阻力模型(Minimum Cumulative Resistance,MCR)判定生态廊道和生态节点,形成了点-线-面交汇的生态安全格局网络,并将其应用于厦门市生态控制区分级划定。研究结果表明,厦门市生态源地共有17处,面积为604.19 km2,约占厦门市陆域面积的35.54%,包括陆域生态保护红线、水源保护地、森林公园等区域;提取主要生态廊道15条,长度为152.84 km,主要为连接生态源地与海洋的山海生态廊道;设置生态节点22个,主要为生态源地范围外的小面积重要保护区域和具有明确生态保护目标的区域。依据生态安全格局将厦门市生态控制区划分为三级管控区域,其中,生态源地、生态廊道以及生态节点划入一级管控区,面积占比为69.48%;一级管控区外的生态重要区和林地划入二级管控区,面积占比为10.15%;生态控制区内的其他区域划入三级管控区,面积占比为20.37%。在此基础上提出了分级管控建议,以期为厦门市实现生态控制区高水平保护与城市高质量发展提供重要参考和借鉴。  相似文献

Movement of individuals promotes colonization of new areas, gene flow among local populations, and has implications for the spread of infectious agents and the control of pest species. Wild Norway rats ( Rattus norvegicus ) are common in highly urbanized areas but surprisingly little is known of their population structure. We sampled individuals from 11 locations within Baltimore, Maryland, to characterize the genetic structure and extent of gene flow between areas within the city. Clustering methods and a neighbour-joining tree based on pairwise genetic distances supported an east–west division in the inner city, and a third cluster comprised of historically more recent sites. Most individuals (~95%) were assigned to their area of capture, indicating strong site fidelity. Moreover, the axial dispersal distance of rats (62 m) fell within typical alley length. Several rats were assigned to areas 2–11.5 km away, indicating some, albeit infrequent, long-distance movement within the city. Although individual movement appears to be limited (30–150 m), locations up to 1.7 km are comprised of relatives. Moderate F ST, differentiation between identified clusters, and high allelic diversity indicate that regular gene flow, either via recruitment or migration, has prevented isolation. Therefore, ecology of commensal rodents in urban areas and life-history characteristics of Norway rats likely counteract many expected effects of isolation or founder events. An understanding of levels of connectivity of rat populations inhabiting urban areas provides information about the spatial scale at which populations of rats may spread disease, invade new areas, or be eradicated from an existing area without reinvasion.  相似文献

Understanding urban growth is one with understanding how society evolves to satisfy the needs of its individuals in sharing a common space and adapting to the territory. We propose here a quantitative analysis of the historical development of a large urban area by investigating the spatial distribution and the age of commercial activities in the whole city of Rome. We find that the age of activities of various categories presents a very interesting double exponential trend, with a transition possibly related to the long-term economical effects determined by the oil crisis of the Seventies. The diversification of commercial categories, studied through various measures of entropy, shows, among other interesting features, a saturating behaviour with the density of activities. Moreover, different couples of commercial categories exhibit over the years a tendency to attract in space. Our results demonstrate that the spatio-temporal distribution of commercial activities can provide important insights on the urbanisation processes at work, revealing specific and non trivial socio-economical dynamics, as the presence of crisis periods and expansion trends, and contributing to the characterisation of the maturity of urban areas.  相似文献

Spatial patterns of the horse chestnut leafminer Cameraria ohridella Deschka & Dimic (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) population density was analysed in the cities of Bern and Brussels in order to explore its spatial population dynamics. The surveys were carried out in Bern in 1998 and 2000 and in Brussels in 2001 to assess population density in relation to local characteristics. In Brussels, population density was also measured using pheromone traps distributed over the city and collected twice per moth generation. A quantitative relationship was found between local population density (measured by pheromone traps and survey observations) and the amount of leaves left on the ground the previous fall. Several other factors were related to observed infestation levels: the occurrence of the pathogen Guignardia aesculi was inversely related to infestation by C. ohridella in Bern in 1998 and 2000, the number of horse chestnut trees within 800 m distance was positively related to infestation level in Bern in 2000, and the proportion of green areas within 100 m and the number of other horse chestnut trees within 2000 m were positively related to infestation levels in the 2001 Brussels survey. The pattern of infestation levels as a function of distance to potential population reservoirs suggested that C. ohridella re‐invades areas where overwintering leaves have been cleaned from refuge areas such as parks or urban forests. Our results indicate that the removal of leaves is a feasible first aid control measure to reduce moth population densities. However, leaf removal may not reduce moth densities when done improperly. In places where proper leaf removal is not feasible, other control measures are needed.  相似文献

The sawfly, Arge rosae Linnaeus (Hymenoptera: Argidae) is a serious pest of rose plants in a vast area of the world including Iran. Pesticides are applied in order to control in areas where infestation is high. So, there is a need for more environmentally benign alternatives to control this insect pest in urban areas. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to study the effect of cereal seed proteinaceous extracts including wheat and triticale on the insect α-amylase. Wheat and triticale seed proteins as well as fourth instars larvae α-amylase were extracted. The results showed that there are two different α-amylase isoenzymes in the insect gut, one major band and the other minor band, which had optimal activity at alkaline pH (pH 8.0). The effect of five concentrations including 0.42, 0.21, 0.105, 0.05 and 0.025?mg?ml?1 of each seed extract was tested on α-amylase activity of the larvae gut. At the highest concentration (0.42?mg?ml?1), wheat seed extract caused 74% inhibition of the enzyme activity while triticale seed extract inhibited 62% enzyme activity. Experiments proved that seed proteinaceous extract affected the enzyme activity in a pH-dependant manner.  相似文献

Anthropogenic disturbance may lead to the spread of vector-borne diseases through effects on pathogens, vectors, and hosts. Identifying the type and extent of vector response to habitat change will enable better and more accurate management strategies for anthropogenic disease spread. We compiled and analyzed data from published empirical studies to test for patterns among flea and small mammal diversity, abundance, several measures of flea infestation, and host specificity in 70 small mammal communities of five biomes and three levels of human disturbance: remote/wild areas, agricultural areas, and urban areas. Ten of 12 mammal and flea characteristics showed a significant effect of disturbance category (six), biome (four), or both (two). Six variables had a significant interaction effect. For mammal-flea communities in forest habitats (39 of the 70 communities), disturbance affected all 12 characteristics. Overall, flea and mammal richness were higher in remote versus urban sites. Most measures of flea infestation, including percent of infested mammals and fleas/mammal and fleas/mammal species increased with increasing disturbance or peaked at intermediate levels of disturbance. In addition, host use increased, and the number of specialist fleas decreased, as human disturbance increased. Of the three most common biomes (forest, grassland/savanna, desert), deserts were most sensitive to disturbance. Finally, sites of intermediate disturbance were most diverse and exhibited characteristics associated with increased disease spread. Anthropogenic disturbance was associated with conditions conducive to increased transmission of flea-borne diseases.  相似文献

Agent-based modeling (ABM) is a bottom-up approach capable of operationalizing complex systems. The approach can be used to reproduce the spatio-temporal patterns in ecological processes such as insect infestation by representing individual dynamics and interactions between “agents” and their environment from which complex behavior emerges. The emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis; EAB) is an invasive species native to south-east Asia which has infested and killed millions of ash trees (Fraxinus sp.) across the eastern United States as well as Ontario and Quebec in Canada. Efforts to model the insect's behavior are ongoing, but current models are limited to approaches that do not address the complexity that emerges from the dynamics between individual beetles and their varying spatial environments. The objective of this study is to develop an ABM to represent the interactions of the EAB and the emerging spatio-temporal pattern of the insect spread. The model is implemented on real datasets from the Town of Oakville, Ontario, Canada from 2008 to 2010. Tree inventory and land use data acquired from the Town of Oakville were used to represent the spatial environment of the EAB agents. The EAB interactions are implemented in the model as subroutines, each representing a stage in the EAB life cycle using a temporal resolution of one day. Model verification was performed based on the literature documenting the life cycle processes of the EAB to represent EAB behavior. The model is calibrated using the rate of spread observed in the Town of Oakville from 2008 to 2009 and is validated using datasets delimiting the spatial extent and severity of EAB infestation in 2009. When comparing simulated and observed data, there is a 72% agreement for the locations of the infestation. This indicates that the developed ABM approach offers a model able to capture the complex behavior of EAB where both the spatial extent and severity of infestation are simulated realistically. The model generates insights about the underlying processes governing EAB behavior, highlights areas of uncertainty in modeling the complex spatio-temporal patterns of EAB infestation, and is a useful tool for forest and pest management.  相似文献

Sewers are historically considered the main reservoir for commensal rodents, posing threats to urban ecosystem health. Aboveground rodent signs are often assumed to give clues to high sewer infestation, which can chronically restock surface areas. Thus, current sewer-baiting programmes are mostly reactive, responding to increased surface infestation. Conversely, proactive sewer-baiting (regardless of infestation levels) is often disregarded because cost-effectiveness is not always addressed. We explored the extent to which the surface infestation is related to rodent feeding activity on sewer and surface baits by analysing a set of proactive bait records in Bologna city, Italy. Sewer bait intakes were significantly lower than surface ones, suggesting that proactive sewer-baiting is generally less effective. As surface infestation increased, probability of recording surface bait intake increased significantly but this was not reflected by increased sewer bait intake, suggesting that surface infestation is not always a reliable indicator of sewer infestation. This should discourage the use of reactive sewer-baiting as a routine strategy. Poison-based control programmes by themselves are scarcely predictable and strategically limited, and ideally they should be handled within an ecologically based integrated pest management approach for achieving satisfactory results.  相似文献

生态用地指以发挥自然生态功能为主,具有重要生态系统服务功能或生态环境脆弱、生态敏感性较高的土地。它是土地利用与生态建设的直接联系,关系区域生态系统的稳定性和安全性。生态用地的研究有利于建立合理的土地利用系统,完善区域生态安全格局,促进经济社会发展与生态环境相协调。在不同尺度下,生态用地的内涵、性质、主导功能以及规划方法都有所不同,结合我国土地利用规划及城市规划的层次划分,选取市域和中心城区为研究范围,其中市域为中尺度代表范围,中心城区为小尺度代表范围,分别分析了两种尺度下生态用地的内涵及区别,提出了相应的规划方法及侧重点。定量规划方面,中心城区生态用地主要结合国家相关法规、规定、政策等确定;而市域生态用地采取借鉴法、土地利用结构数量优化方法以及情景分析三种方法综合确定。空间规划方面,城区生态用地采取分类规划方法,分别对点线面三类生态用地进行提取,主要步骤为辨识重要生态源,构建面状生态用地;结合水体和交通缓冲区,构建线状生态用地;提取关键节点,构建点状生态用地;生态用地分类。市域生态用地则采取综合规划方法,主要步骤为提取特殊生态用地、基于生态用地结构功能和生态敏感性等的生态建设重要性评价、生态用地空间提取及分类。  相似文献

Eleven stands of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) from the city of Ekaterinburg and its surroundings were sampled and analyzed using dendrochronological methods to detect the effects of climate, biotic and anthropogenic factors on the annual growth of trees. Tree-ring chronologies were developed for six sites within the city and for five control sites. All chronologies were highly and positively correlated before the 1940s. However, after this period, there was a significant decrease in the correlation among chronologies from urban and rural sites. Divergence lasted about 20 years. This firstly has an anthropogenic cause, mainly due to the evacuation in 1941 of more than 60 industrial factories to Sverdlovsk (now Ekaterinburg), which generated a significant increase in air pollution. Environmental pollution seems to negatively affect tree growth. In the early 1950s, trees in the region also suffered from severe droughts. The results of climate and historical data analysis suggest that the trees on urban sites were weakened by both climate and air pollution factors, which led to a massive nun moth (Lymantria monacha L.) infestation of trees. Defoliation led to a drastic reduction in tree-ring width and, in some cases, to the complete loss of annual rings. The recovery period lasted 10–15 years on average. Rural populations were much less affected by the insect outbreak. After urban populations of pine recovered in the 1960s, radial growth of urban and rural populations became synchronized again.  相似文献

This work provides an overview of plant diversity in the municipality of Rome (Italy) through an assessment of the flora in urban and suburban sectors of the city. It is aimed at providing the knowledge required to support proactive action for plant conservation. On the basis of a literature-derived catalogue and of an extensive survey campaign, the flora was investigated in terms of conservation interest; habitat types and locations that require protection measures were identified according to the occurrence of valuable native plants. Valuable species exclusive of the urban sector are threatened by the compaction trend affecting the urban fabric. Such species occur mainly in ruderal environments and fallows of archaeological sites and urban parks, near river courses and in remnants of natural forests. Valuable species exclusive of the suburban sector are threatened by urban sprawl. They occur prevalently in wet environments of the subcoastal strip and in coastal sands, Mediterranean maquis, tuffaceous gorges, sulphur springs and archaeological sites. The results highlight the need to preserve the complexity of the land mosaic, especially within the urban matrix, and to strengthen the existing environmental protection tools in the suburban area against foreseeable land cover changes.  相似文献

Chagas disease is a vector-borne disease endemic in Latin America. Triatoma infestans, a common vector of this disease, has recently expanded its range into rapidly developing cities of Latin America. We aim to identify the environmental features that affect the colonization and dispersal of T. infestans in an urban environment. We amplified 13 commonly used microsatellites from 180 T. infestans samples collected from a sampled transect in the city of Arequipa, Peru, in 2007 and 2011. We assessed the clustering of subpopulations and the effect of distance, sampling year, and city block location on genetic distance among pairs of insects. Despite evidence of genetic similarity, the majority of city blocks are characterized by one dominant insect genotype, suggesting the existence of barriers to dispersal. Our analyses show that streets represent an important barrier to the colonization and dispersion of T. infestans in Arequipa. The genetic data describe a T. infestans infestation history characterized by persistent local dispersal and occasional long-distance migration events that partially parallels the history of urban development.  相似文献

The south-central skunk rabies virus (SCSK) is the most broadly distributed terrestrial viral lineage in North America. Skunk rabies has not been efficiently targeted by oral vaccination campaigns and represents a natural system of pathogen invasion, yielding insights to rabies emergence. In the present study we reconstructed spatiotemporal spread of SCSK in the whole territory of its circulation using a combination of Bayesian methods. The analysis based on 241 glycoprotein gene sequences demonstrated that SCSK is much more divergent phylogenetically than was appreciated previously. According to our analyses the SCSK originated in the territory of Texas ~170 years ago, and spread geographically during the following decades. The wavefront velocity in the northward direction was significantly greater than in the eastward and westward directions. Rivers (except the Mississippi River and Rio Grande River) did not constitute significant barriers for epizootic spread, in contrast to deserts and mountains. The mean dispersal rate of skunk rabies was lower than that of the raccoon and fox rabies. Viral lineages circulate in their areas with limited evidence of geographic spread during decades. However, spatiotemporal reconstruction shows that after a long period of stability the dispersal rate and wavefront velocity of SCSK are increasing. Our results indicate that there is a need to develop control measures for SCSK, and suggest how such measure can be implemented most efficiently. Our approach can be extrapolated to other rabies reservoirs and used as a tool for investigation of epizootic patterns and planning interventions towards disease elimination.  相似文献

All howler monkey species ( Alouatta spp.) have a folivorous–frugivorous diet. Howler monkeys are reported to be seed dispersers in several areas, including black howlers ( Alouatta caraya ), which are important seed dispersers in northern Argentinean forests. The goal of this work was to study the three-way interaction between insects, seeds, and black howlers, and assess the functional significance of this tri-trophic interaction for seed dispersal. I determined through direct observation that fruits of species with a high proportion of insect infestation were important components of howler monkey diet. Ocotea diospyrifolia seeds from fresh faeces of black howlers contained dead larvae, but seeds were still able to germinate. Seeds in which larvae had reached an advanced stage of development did not germinate. Larvae of infested Eugenia punicifolia fruits were killed by digestion when they occurred in the pulp early in the fruiting season, but were dispersed alive with seeds later in the season. Banara arguta fruits contained both healthy and infested seeds; infested seeds were destroyed during digestion, while healthy seeds were dispersed. Black howlers' ingestion of infested fruits could result in the: (1) killing of larvae and dispersion of healthy seeds; (2) spread of larvae; or (3) destruction of infested seeds. This will depend on the relationship between the time at which fruit is consumed by black howlers, the time at which insect infestation occurs, and also probably on the hardness of the seed coat and the seed–insect size ratio.  相似文献

照明提升城市夜间安全与活力,是城市建设的重要因素。但近年来夜间照明的迅速蔓延,改变了城市自然环境的光周期与光分布范围,造成光污染生态风险。其中,趋光昆虫受到的胁迫尤为显著,城市绿地昆虫种类与数量急剧下降,进而通过级联效应,引发城市绿地生态系统失衡问题。昆虫是典型的生态指示种和光敏动物,明确昆虫的光谱趋性差异,筛选出对昆虫趋光性友好的光谱,可为生态光源的研发提供依据,从而降低城市照明的生态风险。已有研究较多采用实验室内实验箱的设置方法,探究某一特定昆虫属种的趋光行为,尚缺乏对特定生境下的昆虫群落和典型昆虫目的光谱趋性研究。因此,研究在天津市津南区天津大学北洋园校区绿地系统开展野外人工光诱捕昆虫实验,以野外诱捕昆虫的种类与数量为判定依据,分析各光谱的昆虫趋性差异。野外诱虫实验以7种窄光带光谱(单色光)为研究对象,采用相对评价法,设置趋光昆虫最敏感的紫外光(Ultraviolet,369 nm)为对照组。结果表明,天津城市绿地生境中,4类典型趋光昆虫为双翅目(61.1%)、半翅目(19.7%)、鞘翅目(11.1%)、鳞翅目(5.7%)类,占诱捕总量的97.6%;对照紫外光(Ultraviolet,369 nm),4种典型昆虫总体的趋性敏感光谱排序及趋性概率为:远红色光(Far Red,740 nm)0.5%<深红色光(Deep Red,660 nm)2.0%<橘红色光(Red Orange,627 nm)9.0%<青色光(Cyan,500 nm)22.8%<绿色光(Green,519 nm)22.9%<蓝紫色光(Royal Blue,447 nm)27.6%<蓝色光(Blue,478 nm)40.1%;绝对生态光谱为红光,相对生态光谱为青色光(Cyan,500 nm)和蓝紫色光(Royal Blue,447 nm)。在全面推进人与自然和谐共生的现代化建设阶段,研究将有助于生态光源的开发、生态保护和城市光生态建设的提升。  相似文献

Background

Fifty years of residual insecticide spraying to control Triatoma infestans in the Gran Chaco region of northern Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia shows that vertically coordinated interventions aiming at full coverage have limited effects and are unsustainable. We quantified the spatial distribution of T. infestans domestic infestation at the district level, identified environmental factors associated with high infestation and then explored the usefulness of risk maps for the spatial stratification of interventions.

Methods and Findings

We performed spatial analyses of house infestation data collected by the National Chagas Service in Moreno Department, northern Argentina (1999–2002). Clusters of high domestic infestation occurred in the southwestern extreme of the district. A multi-model selection approach showed that domestic infestation clustered in areas of low elevation, with few farmlands, high density of rural houses, high mean maximum land surface temperature, large NDVI, and high percentage of degraded and deforested lands. The best model classified 98.4% of the communities in the training dataset (sensitivity, 93.3%; specificity, 95.4%). The risk map evidenced that the high-risk area only encompassed 16% of the district. By building a network-based transportation model we assessed the operational costs of spatially contiguous and spatially targeted interventions. Targeting clusters of high infestation would have reached ∼80% of all communities slated for full-coverage insecticide spraying, reducing in half the total time and economic cost incurred by a spatially contiguous strategy.

Conclusions and Significance

In disperse rural areas where control programs can accomplish limited coverage, consideration of infestation hot spots can contribute to the design and execution of cost-effective interventions against Chagas disease vectors. If field validated, targeted vertical control in high risk areas and horizontal control in medium to low risk areas may provide both a logistically and economically feasible alternative to blanket vertical insecticide spraying when resources are limited.  相似文献
