Levels of activity, properties, and peculiarities of activation of glycogen phosphorylase (GP; EC 2.4.1.1) and glycogen phosphorylase kinase (GPK; EC 2.7.1.38) were studied in the white skeletal muscle of fish differing in motor behavior. No differences in the GP and GPK activity levels were revealed in laskir Diplodus annularis (L.), horse mackerel Trachurus mediterraneus ponticus, salmon Salmo trutta morphario, scorpena Scorpaena porcus, Scophtalnus maeoticus, and carp Cyprinus carpio; however, properties of the isolated enzymes and peculiarities of formation of their activated forms during swimming in a hydrodynamic tube are determined by functional peculiarities of the muscle tissue and are associated with the motor activity character of the species. In fish capable for the spurt type of swimming (scorpena, salmon) the more rapid ion regulation plays the predominant role. In other species, the glycogenolysis hormonal regulation leading to a change of the GPK activity index has been found.  相似文献

The possible role of glutathione-dependent enzymes in the liver and kidney of the freshwater fish Channa punctatus has been studied after exposure to arsenic trioxide for different durations. Activities of glutathione-S-transferases, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and catalase decreased in the liver and kidney as a result of the initial increase in arsenic concentration in the liver and kidney. However, during longer exposures, a decline in arsenic concentration corresponded with improved enzyme activity. Because arsenic manifests its toxicity by inducing oxidative stress, the antioxidant enzymes, especially the glutathione-dependent enzymes, play a protective role in arsenic toxicity.  相似文献

Studies were carried out on the proteolytic activity of the fry of common carp, rainbow trout, grass carp, and whitefish, as well as on the activity of digestive organs of adult common carp and rainbow trout. Activity of exogenous enzymes in relation to endogenous ones was assessed on the basis of the proteolytic value of fish food and the activity of digestive organs. It was found that the share of proteolytic enzymes of natural food in the digestion process in fish was high. Beginning from a weight of 50–100 g for common carp and 10 g for rainbow trout, the relation between the daily enzymatic ration and the weight of fish indicates the cooperation of an approximately constant amount of exogenous enzymes.  相似文献

Osteichthyan and chondrichthyan fish present an astonishing diversity of skeletal and dental tissues that are often difficult to classify into the standard textbook categories of bone, cartilage, dentine and enamel. To address the question of how the tissues of the dermal skeleton evolved from the ancestral situation and gave rise to the diversity actually encountered, we review previous data on the development of a number of dermal skeletal elements (odontodes, teeth and dermal denticles, cranial dermal bones, postcranial dermal plates and scutes, elasmoid and ganoid scales, and fin rays). A comparison of developmental stages at the tissue level usually allows us to identify skeletogenic cell populations as either odontogenic or osteogenic on the basis of the place of formation of their dermal papillae and of the way of deposition of their tissues. Our studies support the evolutionary affinities (1) between odontodes, teeth and denticles, (2) between the ganoid scales of polypterids and the elasmoid scales of teleosts, and (3) to a lesser degree between the different bony elements. There is now ample evidence to ascertain that the tissues of the elasmoid scale are derived from dental and not from bony tissues. This review demonstrates the advantage that can be taken from developmental studies, at the tissue level, to infer evolutionary relationships within the dermal skeleton in chondrichthyans and osteichthyans.  相似文献

Based on in vitro biochemical experiments, it is generally believed that glycogenolysis is regulated in two different ways; i.e., Ca2+ regulation at the phosphorylase step and phosphate-product regulation at the phosphofructokinase step. Recent studies on glycogenolysis in living vertebrate skeletal muscles using 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) presented evidence that glycogenolysis in vivo is regulated by Ca2+ released from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. We performed 31P-NMR studies on living frog skeletal muscle, and found that glycogenolysis is further regulated by the accumulation of phosphate products by contractile activity. Therefore, glycogenolysis in vivo can actually be regulated by the two mechanisms as predicted by in vitro biochemical studies.  相似文献

Coral reefs are highly diverse ecosystems, where numerous closely related species often coexist. How new species arise and are maintained in these high geneflow environments have been long‐standing conundrums. Hybridization and patterns of introgression between sympatric species provide a unique insight into the mechanisms of speciation and the maintenance of species boundaries. In this study, we investigate the extent of hybridization between two closely related species of coral reef fish: the common coral trout (Plectropomus leopardus) and the bar‐cheek coral trout (Plectropomus maculatus). Using a complementary set of 25 microsatellite loci, we distinguish pure genotype classes from first‐ and later‐generation hybrids, identifying 124 interspecific hybrids from a collection of 2,991 coral trout sampled in inshore and mid‐shelf reefs of the southern Great Barrier Reef. Hybrids were ubiquitous among reefs, fertile and spanned multiple generations suggesting both ecological and evolutionary processes are acting to maintain species barriers. We elaborate on these finding to investigate the extent of genomic introgression and admixture from 2,271 SNP loci recovered from a ddRAD library of pure and hybrid individuals. An analysis of genomic clines on recovered loci indicates that 261 SNP loci deviate from a model of neutral introgression, of which 132 indicate a pattern of introgression consistent with selection favouring both hybrid and parental genotypes. Our findings indicate genome‐wide, bidirectional introgression between two sympatric species of coral reef fishes and provide further support to a growing body of evidence for the role of hybridization in the evolution of coral reef fishes.  相似文献

In fish of the family Cyprinidae extensive polymorphism and heterogeneity of serum transferrins were found. Ten variants of transferrins were detected in barbel, 9 in dace and bleak, 7 in chub and bream, 6 in rudd, 5 in roach, white bream, silver carp, big head and crucian carp, 3 in tench, and 2 variants in nase, ide and goldfish. All the variants observed bound radioactive iron. The phenotype patterns indicated a simple genetic determination, by a set of codominant alleles at one locus, and this even in tetraploid species. Transferrins of some species were partly isolated. The transferrins of all 22 species analysed were heterogeneous and homozygous pheno-types had 1 to 6 zones of various intensities, binding 59Fe. In barbel both single-zone and two-zone variants were present and transferrins of roach had variable heterogeneity. Sialic acid was found only in transferrins of silver carp, big head and in the two-zone variants of barbel. The occurrence of phenotypes with single and double zones of transferrins in barbel indicates the possibility of genetic determination of the inability of single-zone variants to bind sialic acid.  相似文献

The fish community in the littoral areas of eight regulated lakes and five reference lakes in Finland was sampled by electrofishing. No significant effect of winter drawdown on species richness was recorded across lakes. Total fish density for stony bottoms of the regulated and reference lakes averaged 19.3 and 32.7 individuals per 100 m2, respectively, but this difference was not statistically significant. The combined proportion of littoral fish species, including minnow (Phoxinus phoxinus), bullhead (Cottus gobio), alpine bullhead (Cottus poecilopus), nine-spined stickleback (Pungitius pungitius), and stone loach (Barbatula barbatula), supplemented with zoobenthos feeders ruffe (Gymnocephalus cernuus) and young burbot (Lota lota), was much lower in the regulated lakes than in the reference lakes. The activity of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in loach and sturgeon embryogenesis as well as in red and white skeletal muscles of loach was studied. The specific activity of cytoplasmic and mitochondrial forms of superoxide dismutase in developing sturgeon embryos was higher than in loach embryos, which may be due to oxygen conditions under which these species develop in nature. A similar dependence was also observed for the activity of glutathione peroxidase in embryos of these fish species. A comparative study of specific superoxide dismutase activity in loach and sturgeon embryos and in loach skeletal muscles showed that the activity of cytoplasmic superoxide dismutase is maximum in red and white muscles and minimum in loach embryos, whereas the activity of the mitochondrial form of this enzyme is maximum in red skeletal muscles.  相似文献

In the skeletal muscles of the chick embryo from the 10th till the 15th day of embryogenesis, phosphorylase (EC. 2.4.1.1) is represented by two isozymes one of which corresponds, by electrophoretic mobility, to the liver phosphorylase and another to phosphorylase of the skeletal muscles of the adult rat. From the 17th day of embryogenesis on only one isozyme of phosphorylase is found in the skeletal muscles which is identical with that of the skeletal muscles of the adult bird. The isozyme spectrum of phosphorylase of the whole 4 days old embryo contains, besides phosphorylase L, a special "embryonic" isozyme which differs from that of the skeletal muscles by immunochemical characteristics and electrophoretic mobility. From the 10th day of embryogenesis till hatching, the activity of phosphorylase of the skeletal muscles increases more than 50 times and that of glycogen synthetase (EC. 2.4.1.11) only 4 times.  相似文献

Lake Ichkeul in northern Tunisia is a Ramsar site, a MAB Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The system is one of the most important coastal wetlands in North Africa, especially as an over-wintering area for migratory birds, particularly Palaearctic waterfowl. The present study was aimed at diagnosing the status of fish species in Lake Ichkeul and documenting their annual and seasonal occurrence within the system. Fish samples were collected monthly at 22 sites from March 2011 to April 2012 using a variety of gears, including a dragnet, gillnet, trammelnet, frynet and beach-seine. Temperature and salinity measurements were taken at each site, while fishes were obtained from only 11 sites, representing mainly lacustrine stations. A total of 18 fish species belonging to 14 genera and 12 families were identified, with Mugilidae dominating with four species, followed by Syngnathidae with three species. This study represents a relative recovery in terms of fish species richness, since only 13 species were recorded here between 2003 and 2007. However, the numbers of fish caught, especially of the commercial taxa, seem to have declined in recent years, and the number of species currently present is much lower than that of several decades ago. Increasing human pressures, particularly reductions in catchment freshwater inputs, a breakdown in ecosystem connectivity, pollution and over-fishing appear to be the principal causes for the decline in fish abundance and diversity.  相似文献

Hexokinase, glucokinase, phosphofructokinase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase activity was studied in the liver and musculus quadriceps femoris of 110-day foetuses 1, 2, 3, 30 and 60-day piglets and in adult pigs. The activity of all enzymes in the tissues of newborn piglets is considerably higher than in the tissues of foetuses. The activity of hexokinase in both tissues of piglets increases in the first days after birth and lowers by the one month age. The phosphofructokinase activity in the skeletal muscles and the glucokinase one in the pig liver increase during the postnatal development. The activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase in both tissues of pigs increases after birth and then decreases. Glucose metabolism in the pig liver at all stages of odontogenesis proceeds more intensively by the pentose phosphate pathway, and in the skeletal muscles--by glycolytic one.  相似文献
