In marine aerosol falling on the southern coast of the Crimea protected from the northern wind by the Crimean Mountains, extensive development of filamentous cyanobacteria, which concentrate Ag, Mo, Cu, Ni, Ba, Ca, Br, and Cd, is recorded. Micromycetes migrate within terrigenous aerosol, forming lichens and various associations with green microalgae of the genera Trentepohlia and Haematococcus. This aerosol type falling on the coast of the Sevastopol bays is characterized by accumulation of technogenic heavy metals, U, Th, and rare earth elements La, Ce, Sc.  相似文献

Twenty one superficial sediment samples from areas of high and moderate eutrophication in the Gulf of Riga were studied with respect to siliceous microfossils, mainly diatoms.The results seem to imply that the number of taxa and the abundance of the frustules are affected by runoff from rivers and the degree of eutrophication in different parts of the Gulf. Areas with high eutrophication, e.g. the river estuaries, have diatom assemblages of varying composition, while in areas with moderate eutrophication the composition is almost constant and the influx of freshwater diatoms and littoral periphyton small. The high abundance and low diversity of brackish-marine and brackish, planktonic diatoms seem to be a result of an influx of nutrients and pollutants in the water and bottom sediments. The sea ice diatoms occurring in the Baltic waters and also in the Gulf of Riga tend to be resistant to eutrophication or are even favoured by it.  相似文献

The fauna, associated with Laminaria and other largebrown macroalgae was studied by using SCUBA anddredging in two different types of underwater habitatsof the White Sea.In shallow water fjords and bays, with a depth of nomore than 30–40 m, detached kelp (mainly Laminaria saccharina, L. digitata and Alaria esculenta) formed large accumulations. One ofthese benthic accumulations, which has existed morethan 20 years, was studied. It covers about2000 m2, and is about 2 m thick. The upper layerof the accumulation of fronds is characterized by highturbulence and is well aerated. The lower layer ischaracterized by anoxic conditions. Mats of sulphurbacteria were not observed, although fronds in themiddle layer were covered by layers of cyanobacteria.About 50 species of macroinvertebrates were found,mainly species that are normally associated withliving kelp, such as the detritivorous species Ophiura robusta and Gammarus oceanicus, and fewspecies that are specific inhabitants of organic-richbiotopes in the White Sea such as Capitellacapitata, Ophryotrocha irinae and Nebaliabipes. It was remarkable that in the shallow waterbasins of the White Sea, the process of decompositionof brown algae in the sublittoral takes place withoutsea urchins, and no other macrofaunal form plays anecological role in the mechanical breakdown of theplant substratum, even not in the large accumulationsof detached kelp.Along the open rocky shoreline, communities associatedwith dead detached kelp were situated at a depth of60–90 m, 40–50 m below the belt of living kelp. Inthis deep zone, no macroinvertebrates typical of thekelp community in the photic zone were found. Duringthe passage from the shoreline to the deeper benthiccommunity, where sea urchins were dominant, all plantdebris became fragmented. These deeper benthiccommunities appeared to be the zone for decompositionof the detached kelp.  相似文献

A total of 158 Aegilops-Triticum samples representing six Aegilops species (one diploid, four tetraploid and one hexaploid) and one diploid Triticum were collected along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, and their distribution on the 350 km long coastal line was reported. The region south of Kamchia river, accepted as the middle point of the coast, was characterized by the greatest diversity of these wild relatives of wheat. The most widely distributed species in this area was Ae. geniculata. Ae. cylindrica was distributed only in north (Durankulak), while Ae. biuncialis and Ae. triuncialis were collected both north and south of Kamchia river. All samples of Ae. neglecta were hexaploid. Natural hybrids of goatgrass and wheat were found in Ae. cylindrica populations. Triticum monococcum ssp. aegilopoides had limited distribution in the south region. Aegilops uniaristata was recorded as a new species for the Bulgarian flora. Most of the samples expressed resistance to powdery mildew in seedling and adult stage, but all of them were polymorphic regarding the resistance to leaf rust (cultures 73760 and 43763). The study revealed additional data for the distribution of Aegilops and Triticum species in Bulgaria and their potential value as genetic resources in wheat improvement.  相似文献

An aeropalynological study during the years 2014–2015 was performed in Hatay, which is a unique sociocultural and phytogeographical area located on the border of Turkey and Syria on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean. The sampling was performed by a Hirst-type volumetric sampler (Lanzoni VPPS 2000), and pollen grains of 54 taxa were identified, of which 83.21% of the annual sum belonged to woody taxa. The highest pollen concentration was recorded in February, of which a large amount came from the Cupressaceae/Taxaceae families. The diversity of the pollen reflected the vegetation of the area and plantations of the city center, but pollen grains from Euro-Siberian elements specific to Mount Amanos could not be recorded. Pollen types found at more than 3% of the annual pollen index and considered dominant pollen types were as follows: Cupressaceae/Taxaceae (50.86%), Olea europaea (12.67%), Moraceae (7.20%), Poaceae (5.99%), Quercus (5.35%), Urticaceae (3.79%) and Pinus (3.70%); almost all dominant pollen types in the city atmosphere were previously stated to be allergic. The main pollen season starting dates of common pollen types found were one or two weeks earlier than those of the surroundings. Many statistically significant correlations were found between daily pollen concentrations and daily meteorological parameters, e.g., Cupressaceae/Taxaceae Poaceae and Urticaceae pollen correlated negatively with mean temperature in both years, and in the hindermost two families daily pollen amounts significantly correlated with wind speed in the second year. Daily Olea europaea pollen concentration showed a significant negative correlation with the amount of total daily rainfall in the second year.  相似文献

The present study aimed at evaluating the effects of Caulerpa racemosa var. cylindracea spread on Mediterranean soft-bottom assemblages. The benthic assemblages colonized by C. racemosa were compared with non invaded assemblages at multiple spatial scales. In addition, a manipulative experiment has been conducted over a one-year period in order to compare the structure of native assemblages invaded by the alga with others where the alga has been manually removed and others that were not invaded. Results of both studies showed that Mediterranean soft-bottom assemblages invaded by C. racemosa differed from non invaded ones in terms of species composition, abundance and patterns of spatial variability. Moreover, in areas cleaned out from the alga, the benthic assemblages begin to recover their structure and after one year they get more similar to the assemblages observed in non invaded areas. The present paper, taking into account different aspects of C. racemosa invasion in Mediterranean soft bottoms, highlighted that the observed increase in alpha diversity did not correspond to an increase in the overall diversity of the studied system. Infact, the loss of beta diversity in invaded sites, together with the spread of species typical of vegetated habitats, may contribute to a homogenization of the Mediterranean coastal system. Furthermore, a possible role of ecosystem engineer for C. racemosa can be hypothesized.  相似文献

The organisation of the coastal rocky fish community of Lebanon was investigated for the first time, using visual censuses. A total of 62 fish species were recorded between the surface and 32 m depth, 8 species being Red Sea migrants. Species richness and fish abundance were positively correlated first with substrate complexity and second with depth. The trophic structure of the community was dominated by diurnal zooplanktivores (Chromis chromis, Oblada melanura and Spicara smaris) and mesocarnivores 1 (Coris julis and Thalassoma pavo), and did not vary significantly with depth. The Lessepsian migrants represented 13% of the species richness and 19% of the total abundance of individuals. They dominated among herbivores, nocturnal zooplanktivores and macrocarnivores. The Lessepsian Siganus luridus and S. rivulatus (Siganidae), Pempheris vanicolensis (Pempheridae) and Sargocentron rubrum (Holocentridae) were now among the most common fish species on the Lebanese rocky coast. Lessepsian fish species displayed either similar ecological niches in the Red Sea and in the Levantine basin (P. vanicolensis, S. rubrum) or an enlargement of their depth distribution towards deeper waters in their new environment (S. luridus, S. rivulatus). This study will serve as a baseline for future studies as eastern Mediterranean communities are subjected to a steady increase in Red Sea migrant species.  相似文献

This study deals with the structure of Peracarida populations in four ports in the NW Aegean Sea, Greece, and with the degree this structure is influenced by the particular biotic and abiotic conditions that prevail in the ports. Quantitative samples were taken during summer and winter in two successive years from artificial hard substrates and were analysed using common biocoenotic methods. The examination of approximately 81,250 specimens revealed the presence of 24 Peracarida species, the most dominant of which were Corophium acutum, Leptochelia savignyi and Elasmopus rapax. All species are very common and have been reported from many sites and assemblages in the N Aegean Sea. The ratios of certain Peracarida genera are discussed as possible indicators of environmental health that may be used in long-term biomonitoring programmes on the impact of pollution in harbours.Communicated by H.-D. In vast areas of the oceans, most marine photosynthetic production is performed by cells smaller than 2-3 microm (picoplankton). Here, we report on denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analyses of naturally occurring marine oxygenic picophytoplankton using the conserved photosynthetic psbA gene. The psbA gene proved to be a good indicator for picophytoplankton presence and was shown to work with DGGE. The DGGE results show the distribution of photosynthetic marine groups belonging to cyanobacteria and the eukaryotic prasinophytes (green algae) in the Red and eastern Mediterranean Seas in the seasons examined. The present study demonstrates the value of DGGE as a tool for rapid analyses of natural marine communities of picophytoplankton.  相似文献

An ecological survey was carried out at bimonthly intervals for 2 years from 2000 to 2002 in the intertidal granite shore at Chengshan Cape, on the northwest coast of the Yellow Sea. Significant differences in macroalgal composition were evident in different seasonal assemblages. The highest species richness was found from April to August, and the lowest in October. In all the seasonal assemblages surveyed, Rhodophyta showed the highest species richness, Phaeophyta ranked second and Chlorophyta last. Macroalgal biomass peaked in August (246 gm-2). From December to February cold-water species, such asEnteromorpha intestinalis, Porphyra spp., Gelidium amansii, Halymennia sinensis, Laminaria japonica and Polysiphonia urceolata, dominated the assemblage.In June warm-temperate and subtropical species became dominant. Species diversity peaked in April and then declined throughout the year until December. The seasonal assemblages surveyed could be grouped into an Enteromorpha-Corallina-Ulva dominated winter-spring association, a Sargassum-Ulva-Corallina dominated summer association and an Ulva-Gymnogongrus-Sargassum dominated autumn association.Regression analysis showed that changes in seawater temperature were the main influence on macroalgal biomass. Assemblage structure is influenced by substrate heterogeneity resulting from wave action at Chengshan Cape.  相似文献
