Background  A 3.3-year-old-male cynomolgus macaque ( Macaca fascicularis ) showed a focally extensive soft, dark, discoid dermal mass, 0.5 cm in diameter, on the dorsal surface of the right hind foot, over the fourth and fifth metatarsal bones.
Methods and results  Microscopic examination revealed a cutaneous melanoma with local lymphatic invasion, characterized by neoplastic melanocytes within the subcapsular sinus of popliteal and inguinal lymph nodes. The diagnosis was confirmed by immunohistochemistry and transmission electron microscopy.
Conclusions  To our knowledge, this is the first documented case of melanoma in a cynomolgus monkey.  相似文献

本文对山东枣庄市916人足放射片进行了足籽骨的观察与测量。发现每足有1-7个籽骨,其中二个者占77.8%,三个者占16.9%;籽骨位于跖骨头下方者占94.5%,位于趾间关节下方者占5.5%;各跖骨头籽骨出现率:Ⅰ占99.9%、Ⅱ占 2.2%、Ⅲ占0.3%、Ⅳ占0.5%、Ⅴ占6.4%;(足母)趾趾间关节籽骨占12.6%;二分及三分籽骨出现率占3.9%,明显低于欧美人。此外,本文认为籽骨是在先天籽骨原基基础上,加以后天运动的影响而形成。  相似文献

The blood supply of the periosteum of the human tibia was investigated by anatomical dissection of 12 lower extremities which were filled with injection mass. By division of the tibia into 4 segments (proximal and distal fifths; proximal and distal diaphysis) a general supplying system of the periosteum was found. The proximal fifth of the tibial periosteum is nourished by branches of the arteriae recurrentes tibiales anterior et posterior and the aa. inferiores medialis et lateralis genus. At the proximal diaphysis (next three tenths of the tibia) periosteal branches arise from the aa. tibialis anterior and posterior, whereas the distal diaphysis is nourished exclusively by semicircular vessels of the a. tibialis anterior which twine around the bone and merge with each other at the facies medialis. Concerning the periosteal blood supply of the distal fifth of the tibia, two different types were found. In two thirds of the cases the lateral side was nourished by branches of the a. tibialis anterior, which are supported by vessels from the a. fibularis. In one third the latter branch was absent so that the rami periostales arising from the a. tibialis anterior nourished the lateral aspect of the distal tibia alone. The dorsal region was supplied in all cases by rami of the a. fibularis and a. tibialis posterior. On the medial side the periosteal nourishment is ensured only by anastomosis. Branches of the a. tibialis anterior supply the facies lateralis and facies posterior where it is supported by vessels of the a. tibialis posterior and in a minor region of rami of the a. fibularis (distal) and a. poplitea (proximal).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Olduvai Hominin (OH) 8, a 1.76 million year old left foot skeleton, has osteophytic lipping on the metatarsal bases, which when compared to a modern sample, may help paleoanthropologists determine whether the foot bones represent an injured subadult or an osteoarthritic adult. This study compares the OH 8 lipping pattern to those of 140 individual Amerindians comprising four different age classes to determine whether the OH 8 lipping is likely to be age-related osteoarthritis. OH 8 metatarsal lipping followed a pattern similar to that determined in the comparative sample to be age-related osteoarthritis. Similarities include metatarsal base lipping that is frequently located on the dorsal surface, metatarsal base lipping that is more severe on the lateral metatarsals compared to the medial metatarsals, and the presence of a pseudojoint between metatarsal 1 and metatarsal 2. The chance of finding an individual with osteoarthritis lipping increases from 3.45% in the age group 18–22 years to 55% in individuals over 35 years. The chance of finding a pseudojoint increases from 1.32% in non-osteoarthritic individuals to 15.15% in individuals with osteoarthritis. Results from this study indicate that the OH 8 foot bones are most likely from an adult and more likely to belong to Paranthropus boisei, the skull of which was found in the same excavations with OH 8, than to the juvenile Homo habilis holotype.  相似文献

为探究硬化蛋白(sclerostin, SOST)基因在淇河鲫肌间骨不同分布位置中的作用,以淇河鲫成鱼为研究对象,对其肌间骨的形态与分布进行了统计,并在此基础上利用qRT-PCR技术检测SOST基因在淇河鲫背部和尾部肌肉中的mRNA表达,通过Western印迹和免疫组织化学技术检测SOST蛋白的表达定位情况。结果显示:淇河鲫肌间骨包括髓弓小骨和脉弓小骨,髓弓小骨为56~58根,位于淇河鲫背部肌肉的肌隔中,脉弓小骨27~28根,分布于泄殖孔之后的肌隔中。背部肌肉SOST的mRNA表达水平显著高于尾部肌肉(P < 0.05)。与mRNA表达水平相比,背部肌肉和尾部肌肉中SOST蛋白呈现相同表达趋势。免疫组织化学结果显示SOST在肌隔组织中特异性表达,并且在背部肌肉中的表达强烈,尾部肌肉中没有阳性反应。上述结果表明,SOST在淇河鲫肌间骨的背部和尾部肌肉中存在差异性表达,从而影响肌隔组织中肌间骨的骨化,对背部和尾部肌间骨形态发生产生影响。  相似文献

This survey includes 58 genera of rodents from 26 families. The medial tarsal bone is probably unique to the order. Its presence, nature, and constant relationship with M. tibialis posterior are discussed. This muscle inverts and supinates the pes at the astragulo-navicular joint and moves the ankle. The M. flexor tibialis inserts on the medial sesamoid, on this sesamoid and the integument, on the sesamoid and the tendon of M. flexor fibularis, on the latter tendon only, or on the integument only. The occurrence, nature, and cam-like action of the sesamoid are described. A distal segment of the tendon of M. flexor tibialis usually extends from the sesamoid to either the first phalanx of the first digit or to fascia of an adjacent muscle. Functions of the medial sesamoid include (1) stabilization of the tendon of M. flexor tibialis, (2) deflection of this tendon to benefit flexion of the first phalanx, (3) winching of the medial tarsal ligament to flex the first metatarsal, (4) control of the angle of insertion of the tendon to provide flexion or abduction of the first digit as appropriate during swimming, (5) mechanical multiplication of the tension in the tendon between the segments proximal and distal to the sesamoid, and (6) longitudinal folding of the sole of the pes to grip the substrate, as in climbing.  相似文献

This retrospective study was carried out over 83 surgical cases at the distal portion of the fifth metatarsal, compromising the treatment of tailor's bunion, fifth metatarsal overload and the concomitant presence of both pathologies in some cases. Neuromas were founded under the fifth metatarsal head in 18 of the cases studied (21.7%). The results look at whether if there is an association between different fifth metatarsal pathologies and the presence of neuromas and found a significant association between the appearance of neuromas in patients with the same metatarsal overload, especially if it is accompanied by a tailor's bunion pathology.  相似文献

The caves at Klasies River contain abundant archaeological evidence relating to human evolution in the late Pleistocene of southern Africa. Along with Middle Stone Age artifacts, animal bones, and other food waste, there are hominin cranial fragments, mandibles with teeth, and a few postcranial remains. Three foot bones can now be added to this inventory. An adult first metatarsal is similar in size and discrete anatomical features to those from Holocene burials in the Cape Province. A complete and well-preserved second metatarsal is especially long and heavy at midshaft in comparison to all Holocene and more recent South African homologues. A large fifth metatarsal is highly distinctive in its morphology. In overall size, these pedal elements resemble specimens from late Pleistocene sites in western Asia, but there are some differences in proportions. The fossils support earlier suggestions concerning a relatively high level of sexual dimorphism in the African Middle Stone Age population. Squatting facets on the two lateral metatarsals appear to indicate a high frequency of kneeling among members of this group. The new postcranial material also underlines the fact that the morphology of particular skeletal elements of some of the 100,000-year-old Klasies River individuals falls outside the range of modern variation.  相似文献

本文通过量化方法,对桃花园墓地明清时期101例女性足骨形变方式、程度、对称性等进行了系统分析。研究结果表明,双侧足骨形变总体上是对称的。缠足对跗骨的影响主要在于整体尺寸缩小和关节面改变。第1跖骨除整体尺寸缩小外,还存在诸多明显的骨体形态改变;第2、3跖骨头部和底部尺寸缩小,但形变不大。第3至第5近节趾骨骨体长度和高度的侧别差异明显,特别是第3近节趾骨双侧整体不对称。该群体至少在18岁时已经缠足,25岁以后足骨已发生形变,35岁之后形变较明显。部分个体足骨形变程度较轻,其生前可能仅束足纤直,未经裹弯。足骨形变程度与陪葬品多寡并无相关性,其形变差异很可能与身体疾病、劳作需要、缠足方法或缠足观念差异有关。  相似文献

山东安丘牟山水库遗址和广饶十村遗址的清代墓葬中出土了存在足部畸形的3例女性个体,结合历史记载以及近代缠足女性X光照片的对比,推测应为缠足后所产生的现象。通过观察其足部骨骼,总结出缠足畸形在骨骼标本上的几个特点:1)足部骨骼整体纤弱化,以跖骨最为明显;2)跖骨的跖跗关节处以及跗骨出现楔形改变;3)下肢骨肌嵴不发达,骨骼表面较为光滑,胫骨下端前缘出现关节面。缠足组与未缠足组进行对比发现,跖骨是差异最为明显的骨骼,且缠足组的肢骨粗壮度稍弱于未缠足组。  相似文献

Abstract: Morphological changes in the ontogeny of sauropods are poorly known, making difficult to establish the systematic affinities of very young individuals. New information on an almost complete juvenile sauropod (SMA 0009) with an estimated total length of about 2 m is here presented. The specimen was described as a diplodocid owing to the presence of some putative synapomorphies of this group. However, recent further preparation revealed the absence of diplodocid characters and the presence of macronarian derived characters. To test the affinities of this specimen, a phylogenetic analysis was conducted. The strict consensus tree recovers the specimen as a basal titanosauriform, in an unresolved relation with Brachiosaurus and Giraffatitan. Nevertheless, a brachiosaurid assignment is here suggested in base of the widely accepted monophyly of this group (only recovered when SMA 0009 is placed within this group). Although the existence of a new taxon cannot be completely ruled out, the combination of derived and plesiomorphic characters in the specimen suggests its assignment to Brachiosaurus. Sixteen extra steps are needed to place this specimen within Diplodocidae. The high cost to place this specimen within this group is owing to the fact that several diplodocid characters are absent in SMA 0009, such as the absence of divided centroprezygapophyseal lamina in cervical vertebrae, procoelous anterior caudal centra, composed lateral lamina in anterior caudal vertebrae, elongated middle caudal vertebrae, short cervical ribs and caudolateral projection of distal condyle of metatarsal I. Finally, the systematic position reveals few major ontogenetic transformations. These affect the pneumatic structures (e.g. change from simple pleurocoels in the cervical vertebrae to complex pleurocoels and the development of lateral excavations in the dorsal vertebrae) but also include unrecorded transformations of the neural spine (e.g. the development of the spinodiapophyseal lamina, the widening of the neural spines in the dorsal vertebrae) and allometric growth in some limb bones.  相似文献

Flatfoot (pes planus) is one of the most important physical examination items for military new recruits in Taiwan. Currently, the diagnosis of flatfoot is mainly based on radiographic examination of the calcaneal-fifth metatarsal (CA–MT5) angle, also known as the arch angle. However, manual measurement of the arch angle is time-consuming and often inconsistent between different examiners. In this study, seventy male military new recruits were studied. Lateral radiographic images of their right and left feet were obtained, and mutual information (MI) registration was used to automatically calculate the arch angle. Images of two critical bones, the calcaneus and the fifth metatarsal bone, were isolated from the lateral radiographs to form reference images, and were then compared with template images to calculate the arch angle. The result of this computer-calculated arch angle was compared with manual measurement results from two radiologists, which showed that our automatic arch angle measurement method had a high consistency. In addition, this method had a high accuracy of 97% and 96% as compared with the measurements of radiologists A and B, respectively. The findings indicated that our MI registration measurement method cannot only accurately measure the CA–MT5 angle, but also saves time and reduces human error. This method can increase the consistency of arch angle measurement and has potential clinical application for the diagnosis of flatfoot.  相似文献

We present evidence from adult and larval morphology for the monophyly and relationships of Atheriniformes, using other atherinomorphs, mugilids and acanthomorph fishes as outgroups. Atheriniformes is diagnosed by ten characters (larval: short preanal length, single mid-dorsal row of melanophores; adult: vomerine ventral face concave, long Al muscle tendon to lacrimal, two anterior infraorbital bones, pelvic-rib ligament, pelvic medial plate not extended to anterior end, and second dorsal-fin spine flexible). We recognize six families within the order, the hierarchical relationships among which are: (Atherinopsidae (Notocheiridae (Melanotaeniidae (Atherionidae (Phallostethidae, Atherinidae))))). Other major conclusions include: (1) Atherinopsidae (Menidiinae, Atherinopsinae) is diagnosed by 20 characters (e.g. ethmomaxillary ligament attached to palatine dorsal process, ventral postcleithrum with two dorsal rami); (2) Melanotaeniidae (Bedotiinae (Melanotaeniinae (Telmatherinini, Pseudomugilini))) is diagnosed by six characters (e.g. absence of second dorsal-fin spine, sexual dimorphism in body colour and median-fin development, greater body depth); (3) Dentatherina is in Phallostethidae; (4) Atherinidae (Atherinomorinae (Craterocephalinae, Atherininae)) is diagnosed by three characters (lacrimal notch, ventral postcleithrum between first and second pleural ribs, pelvic ventral spine); (5) Atherinidae and Phallostethidae form the Atherinoidea clade diagnosed by seven characters (e.g. interopercle dorsal process absent, dorsal wings of urohyal absent, ventral postcleithrum laminar, pelvic medial plate extended to anterior end, presence of anal plate). Bedotia, Rhodes , and melanotaeniines are shown to be derived within atheriniforms rather than the plesiomorphic sister groups to a paraphyletic 'atherinoid' group. We also demonstrate that groups traditionally placed in Atherinidae (Menidiinae, Atherininae, Atherioninae, etc.) comprise a paraphyletic assemblage.  相似文献

The arterial supply of 100 human cadaver feet (87 cadavers) was investigated by stereoscopic arteriography and was compared phylogenetically to that of the macaque foot. The deep plantar arch was always well developed and complete, whereas the superficial plantar arch was usually slender and incomplete. The first proximal perforating artery arising from the dorsalis pedis artery formed the main component of the deep plantar arch in 82% of the feet. The second proximal perforating artery arising from the dorsal rete contributed to the deep plantar arch in 43% of the feet, and formed most of the arch in one foot. The dorsal rete was classified into four groups of variants based on the arterial source of the second dorsal metatarsal artery. These were the arcuate artery (25%), distal lateral tarsal artery (12%), proximal lateral tarsal artery (6%), and nondorsal rete (57%) variants. In the first intermetatarsal space, the dorsal and plantar metatarsal arteries shared a common trunk in 54% of the feet, but this did not occur in the other intermetatarsal spaces. The second dorsal metatarsal artery arose from the dorsal rete in 43% of the feet, and this artery was quite large, sometimes being the largest of all the dorsal and plantar metatarsal arteries. Variations of the arterial supply found in humans sometimes resembled the typical pattern found in the macaque.  相似文献

Using stereoscopic angiography, the entire arterial system of the foot of the macaque was analyzed. The arteria saphena, instead of the a. tibialis anterior, reaches the dorsum of the foot, and its branches supply most of the foot. The dorsal arteries are dominant as far as the metatarsal spaces of the lateral four toes. The a. metatarsea dorsalis II showed a tendency to be the single dominant artery and to give rise to even the a. digitalis communis plantaris IV through the catella plantaris distalis. This tendency was observed more clearly in other macaques species than the Japanese monkey. The perforating branch at the second proximal metatarsal space forms the arcus plantaris profundus, which is accompanied by the deep branch of the nervus plantaris lateralis. Beneath the arch, the catella plantaris proximalis is formed on the metatarsal bones among the perforating branches of the aa. metatarseae dorsales. The a. tibialis posterior forms the arcus plantaris superficialis, whose thin branches commonly enter the aa. digitales communes plantares.  相似文献

The angioarchitecture of the human fibula was investigated by anatomical dissection. The main artery of the periosteal and endosteal blood supply is the arteria fibularis. The proximal part of the facies lateralis is additionally nourished by a well-built branch of the arteria tibialis anterior. The periosteal branches of the arteria fibularis are most voluminous on the dorsal side in the middle of the fibula. Small plates take care of these branches. For an additional revascularization the well-built branch of the arteria tibialis anterior is proposed. The best anatomical region for a vascularized fibular transfer is at an average of 20% up to 75% of the fibular length.  相似文献

The homology of the fifth metatarsal in turtles and in diapsid reptiles is reassessed in the light of new phylogenetic studies. The two nearest outgroups to turtles — pareiasaurs and procolophonoids — both lack a fifth distal tarsal but retain a normal fifth metatarsal. The fifth distal tarsal was therefore lost at the base of the clade that contains turtles. Thus, the hooked fifth metatarsal in turtles must consist entirely of a modified fifth metatarsal: it does not include contributions from the fifth distal tarsal, as commonly supposed. In diapsids, loss of the fifth distal tarsal appears to have occurred at the base of crown-clade diapsids, hooking of the fifth metatarsal subsequently occurring within lepidosauromorphs, and in archosauromorphs. If so, the hooked fifth metatarsal in archosauromorphs, and some lepidosauromorphs, consists entirely of a modified fifth metatarsal. In both turtles and diapsids, integration of the elements distal to the mesotarsal joint precedes evolution of the hooked fifth metatarsal, supporting the view that the latter element evolved to perform a lever function (analogous to the “heel bone” of mammals).  相似文献

We present a generalized beam theory in which deformation and load are determined simultaneously, in order to analyze statically indeterminant problems involving long bones. We regard a long bone as a beam curved in three dimensions for which the cross-sectional properties vary continuously along its length. The theory is used to determine the force, moment, deflection and twist along the fifth metatarsal when it is subjected to both a pointwise and a distributed load.  相似文献

Neural drive to inspiratory pump muscles is increased under many pathological conditions. This study determined for the first time how neural drive is distributed to five different human inspiratory pump muscles during tidal breathing. The discharge of single motor units (n = 280) from five healthy subjects in the diaphragm, scalene, second parasternal intercostal, third dorsal external intercostal, and fifth dorsal external intercostal was recorded with needle electrodes. All units increased their discharge during inspiration, but 41 (15%) discharged tonically throughout expiration. Motor unit populations from each muscle differed in the timing of their activation and in the discharge rates of their motor units. Relative to the onset of inspiratory flow, the earliest recruited muscles were the diaphragm and third dorsal external intercostal (mean onset for the population after 26 and 29% of inspiratory time). The fifth dorsal external intercostal muscle was recruited later (43% of inspiratory time; P < 0.05). Compared with the other inspiratory muscles, units in the diaphragm and third dorsal external intercostal had the highest onset (7.7 and 7.1 Hz, respectively) and peak firing frequencies (12.6 and 11.9 Hz, respectively; both P < 0.05). There was a unimodal distribution of recruitment times of motor units in all muscles. Neural drive to human inspiratory pump muscles differs in timing, strength, and distribution, presumably to achieve efficient ventilation.  相似文献
