Of 111 variable age, pedigree ewes subjected to a range of superovulatory regimens and then submitted to embryo recovery by laparoscopy, nine had adhesions corresponding to a mid-line laparotomy (presumably from a previous attempt to recover embryos) and could not have their embryos recovered by the laparoscopic technique. Of the remainder, 27 ewes (26.5%) had less than three ovulations or had prematurely regressing corpora lutea at the selected time for embryo recovery (Days 5 to 6 following insemination), and no attempt was made to recover embryos from them. For the 75 ewes subjected to laparoscopic ovum recovery following laparoscopic intrauterine insemination, the average number of ovulations (+/- SEM) was 7.9 +/- 0.6; the average ovum recovery (mean of values for each ewe) was 51.7% +/- 3.5; and the percentage of recovered ova that were fertilized was 87.3%. For a further nine 3-yr-old crossbred ewes the mean values for ovulation and ovum recovery were 7.6 +/- 1.2 and 70.1 +/- 7.7, and were not significantly different for the two insemination methods used (laparoscopic intrauterine vs cervical). In general, ovulation rates for ewes given pregnant mare serum gonadotrophin (PMSG) tended to be lower (5.2 +/- 0.7) than for those given porcine follicle stimulating hormone (pFSH, 7.7 +/- 0.8) or human menopausal gonadotrophin (hMG, 7.7 +/- 2.3). Ova recovery rates were similar on Days 5 and 6 (Day 0 = insemination), and were not affected by method of insemination (laparoscopic intrauterine vs cervical).  相似文献

This study was conducted at Belen de Escobar, Argentina, in March and April 1987. Experimental work on synchronization of estrus, deep-freeze conservation of ram semen and small fertility trials involving cervical and intrauterine (i.u.) insemination methods was undertaken. A total of 80 Corriedale ewes were used in seven insemination trials. Insemination trials were grouped into two experimental groups for comparison of 1) frozen semen diluted with an experimental extender and a control diluent inseminated cervically or i.u. in synchronized/superovulated ewes and 2) cervical insemination of fresh diluted or frozen semen in ewes inseminated at natural estrus or in ewes that were synchronized/superovulated. An overall ovulation rate of 8.7 +/- 0.5 was obtained by using a superovulatory regimen consisting of 3 mg Norgestomet implants and a total dose of 18 mg follicle stimulating hormone-pituitary (FSH-P). Numbers of ova recovered per ewe following superovulation ranged from 4.3 to 5.4. In experimental Group I, fertilization rates improved when laparoscopic intrauterine AI was used compared with cervical insemination (P<0.05). Fertility rates of i.u. and cervical insemination of frozen semen diluted with the experimental extender showed satisfactory fertilizing capacity. In experimental Group II, a lower number of fertilized ova were recovered from ewes inseminated with frozen semen (P<0.02), irrespective of their estrus manipulation.  相似文献

Twenty-three cyclic Holstein heifers were purchased for use as embryo donors to study the effect of intrauterine exposure to Haemophilus somnus on the number, quality, and viability of embryos produced. Few problems were encountered using standard superovulation and nonsurgical embryo collection techniques on virgin heifers. Based on three or more ovulations, as determined by palpation per rectum of the ovaries at the time of embryo recovery, 28 of 30 heifers responded to the superovulation regimen. Of 29 nonsurgical recoveries, 27 produced one or more embryos. One hundred and seventy-six embryos and ova were collected from heifers synchronized, superovulated, and flushed 7 to 8 d after insemination.  相似文献

Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) treatment was examined as a means of improving the efficacy of embryo collection in the sheep following intrauterine insemination of frozen-thawed semen. In summary, treatment consistently improved fertilization rates and the number of fertilized ova collected per ewe was enhanced compared with untreated ewes. The yield of fertilized ova in ewes treated with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) was maximized by administering GnRH 36 h after progestagen treatment; 24 h was the preferred time in ewes treated with pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG). There was a significant (P < 0.001) increase in the percentage of unfertilized ova in the former treatment when GnRH was given at 24 h. An examination of the time of insemination (0, 6, 12 and 18 h before the median time of ovulation) indicated that fertilization rates were highest when insemination occurred at 6 h in both GnRH-treated ewes and in untreated ewes. In GnRH-treated ewes, the recovery of ova was lowest when insemination occurred at the time of ovulation. The number of motile frozen-thawed spermatozoa required for fertilization following treatment was estimated to be approximately 20 x 10(6) per uterine horn. GnRH-treatment also improved the yield of fertilized ova in sheep that were naturally mated, although this yield was lower than that obtained with intrauterine insemination of frozen-thawed semen. It is concluded that fertilization failure, a major problem in sheep embryo collection, can be eliminated through judicious use of GnRH treatment and properly timed intrauterine insemination.  相似文献

Detailed superovulation and embryo collection records from this commercial transplant unit were statistically analyzed to evaluate seasonal effects, if any, on embryo donor performance. The raw data set included all the superovulation-collection attempts (n=1,029) by this unit on beef donor females during a 12-month interval (1982). Seasons (fall, winter, spring and summer), breed types (European and Brahman), FSH treatment schedules (A, B and C) and two-way interactions were evaluated by analysis of variance for an effect on mean corpora lutea (CL), ova collection rate, ova collected, fertilized ova, fertilization rate, embryo degeneration rate, transferable embryos and transferable embryo rate. Parameters were analyzed in two different data sets. First, Data Set I included records from all cows started on superovulatory treatments during a 12-month period whether or not they responded to treatment and whether or not ova were recovered at the time of collection. Mean values from this data set would be for all females started on superovulatory treatments and should be viewed only for their economic implications. A more realistic approach was made with Data Set II, which includes only those records from donors responded to superovulatory treatment and where at least one ovum was recovered at the time of non-surgical collection. Results showed that there was no season effect on superovulatory responses and ova parameters for beef donors in Data Sets I and II. When parameters were evaluated by breed type, European breed types produced more transferable embryos per donor (P<.05) and had a greater fertilization rate and transferable embryo rate (P<.001) than Brahman-type donors in both Data Sets I and II. However, Brahman-type donor animals produced more ova per collection (P<.05) than European donors in Data Set II. Season × Breed Type interaction was not different for superovulatory response or embryo parameters. This information further establishes a data base for stating that season does not affect embryo donor performance in the southwestern region of the USA.  相似文献

In Exp. 1, 40 ewes were used in a 2 x 2 factorial design to investigate the effects of intrauterine versus cervical insemination and superovulation using pig FSH or PMSG and GnRH on egg recovery and fertilization rate. Cervical inseminations were carried out at 48 and 60 h (N = 20 ewes) and intrauterine insemination at 52 h (N = 20 ewes) after progestagen pessary withdrawal. Eggs were recovered on Day 3 of the oestrous cycle. Ovulation, egg recovery and fertilization rates were independent of the type of superovulatory hormone used. Fertilization rate was high irrespective of insemination site but intrauterine insemination at 52 h was associated with a significant (P less than 0.01) decrease in egg recovery of over 40% compared with cervically inseminated ewes. In Exp. 2 ewes were inseminated at 36 (N = 5), 48 (N = 6) or 60 (N = 6) h after pessary withdrawal to determine the optimum intrauterine insemination time to maximize both fertilization rate and egg recovery. Egg recovery per ewe flushed was 23, 59 and 67% after intrauterine insemination at 36, 48 and 60 h respectively. Correspondingly, 0, 85 and 100% of the eggs recovered were fertilized. The results of Exps 1 and 2 suggest that when intrauterine insemination occurs before or during ovulation it interferes with oocyte collection by the fimbria. In Exp. 3 egg recovery and fertilization rates were determined after cervical insemination at 48 and 60 h (N = 8) or intrauterine insemination at 48 (N = 9) or 60 (N = 8) h after progestagen withdrawal. Ewes in the last two groups were subdivided and inseminated unilaterally or bilaterally. Egg recovery was high after cervical insemination (95%) but only 36% of these eggs were fertilized. Unilateral intrauterine insemination was as effective as bilateral in ensuring high fertilization rates (100 versus 97%). Intrauterine insemination at 48 h compared with 60 h resulted in a significantly lower (P less than 0.05) percentage of eggs recovered (42 versus 90% respectively). However, reducing the degree of interference by adopting unilateral rather than bilateral insemination did not alleviate the detrimental effects of the 48-h insemination time on egg recovery. From these results we advocate the adoption of intrauterine insemination at 60 h after progestagen withdrawal to maximize fertilization rate and egg recovery in superovulated ewes.  相似文献

This study was performed to investigate the developmental potential of microinjected embryos recovered from superovulated prepuberal lambs. Fifty-nine mixed-bred lambs (about 3 mo old) were superovulated either with 18 mg FSH-P with (Group FSH/+S) or without (Group FSH/-S) progestagen treatment, or with 10 mL Ovagene following progestagen treatment (Group OVA/+S). All animals received hCG to induce ovulation. Ovulation rates and the number of ova recovered per animal for the different groups were 8.7 and 4.7 (55%, FSH/+S); 7.3 and 3.2 (42%, FSH/-S); and 6.4 and 4.0 (65%, OVA/+S), respectively. No significant differences were seen in the ovulation and the recovery rates, but animals without progestagen treatment showed a significantly lower fertilization rate (44%) when compared with progestagen-treated groups (87%; P<0.001). Foreign DNA was microinjected into the pronuclei of fertilized ova (n = 155), which were transferred (n = 98) into synchronized recipient ewes (n = 21). Two animals were detected pregnant and both gave birth to a single lamb. Results of superovulation and embryo recovery from prepuberal lambs were promising, but the low rate of development to term indicates that ova recovered from prepuberal lambs have reduced developmental competence in vivo. Although 2 lambs were born, it seems that this is not a successful method for use in future gene transfer programs.  相似文献

Approximately 1000 registered cows and heifers were superovulated one to 10 times. Nonsurgical embryo recoveries were performed on all donors which exhibited estrus. Healthy donors produced more total ova and cleaving embryos and had a higher ovum recovery rate, fertilization rate and pregnancy rate from embryos transferred than did cows classified as infertile. While ovum number was not affected during 10 repeated superovulations, fertilization rate and embryo number decreased. The number of ova recovered from healthy cows was affected by season, and from infertile cows by the day of the estrous cycle on which FSH was started and by the number of days since calving. More ova were recovered from infertile cows synchronized with prostaglandins prior to superovulation than following a natural estrous cycle. The number of embryos recovered from infertile cows was affected by age and from healthy cows by daily milk production. Fertilization rates in both healthy and infertile cows were affected by age, time since calving, daily milk production, day of cycle FSH was injected and season. There was no effect of the day of recovery on the number of ova or embryos recovered from healthy or infertile cows.  相似文献

Eighteen Border Leicester x Scottish Blackface ewes, primed with 300 mg progesterone (12 d) and superovulated with decreasing doses (6, 5, 3 and 2 mg) of porcine FSH, were inseminated with fresh semen, using laparoscopic intrauterine procedures at 48 (Group E) or 60 h (Group L) after exogenous progesterone removal. Five days after insemination, embryos were collected and classified on the basis of their morphological development. During the subsequent 3 d of in vitro culture (38.5 degrees C; 5% CO2) the embryos were evaluated at 24-h intervals. After 72 h, the embryos were individually fixed (24 h) and stained with aceto-orcein and the nuclei were then counted to provide an objective index of cell proliferation and development. Mean (+/-SEM) ovulation rates for the 2 groups (9.2+/-1.5 and 7.1+/-1.2, respectively) and the corresponding percentages (53 vs 59) of embryos collected by laparoscopy were unaffected by insemination time. All donors yielded fertilized ova, but whereas all Group-E donors yielded 1 or more viable embryos (i.e., >32 cells), only 5 Group-L ewes yielded viable embryos (P<0.10). At collection, the percentages of embryos at the morula stage of development were 98 (Group E n = 44) and 39 (Group L n = 38; P<0.001). Few of the remaining ova (Group E = 0% Group L = 8%) were at the 1-cell stage of development when collected, indicating that retarded development post fertilization, not fertilization failure, was the principal consequence of delayed insemination. The percentages of embryos that continued to develop during in vitro culture were 91 and 37 for Groups E and L, respectively (P<0.001), and all of these reached the blastocyst stage. Of these blastocysts, 75 and 50% in Groups E and L hatched in vitro (P<0.10), with mean (+/-SEM) nuclei counts of 148+/-22.7 and 76+/-13.8 (P<0.02), respectively. In conclusion, while delayed intrauterine insemination did not affect the efficiency of ovum collection, it caused a major reduction in the yield of embryos that were capable of developing during in vitro culture. However, fertilization failure accounted for only 13% of the loss in viability following late insemination.  相似文献

Twenty ewes were used as donors in a 2x2 factorial design experiment to investigate the effects of two different insemination times (48 vs 60 h after pessary withdrawal), with or without sedation, on the ovum recovery rate 5 d after insemination, the proportion of transferable embryos recovered, and the subsequent survival rate of embryos transferred to recipients. The ovum recovery rate following intauterine insemination at 48 h after progestagen pessary withdrawal was 63.8 and 53.4% for sedated and nonsedated control ewes, respectively. Following intrauterine insemination at 60 h the corresponding values for sedated and control ewes were 72.6 and 73.9%, respectively. The proportion of transferable quality embryos recovered was not affected by sedation but was improved by insemination at 48 h rather than 60 h after pessary withdrawal (100 vs 35.4%). Embryo survival following laparoscopic transfer to recipients from donor ewes inseminated at 48 h, with or without sedation was 38.8% (7 18 ) and 50% (7 14 ), respectively. Following intrauterine insemination of the donors at 60 h, the survival rate in recipients was reduced for embryos transferred from both the sedated and control ewes to 6.25% (1 16 ) and 36.3% (4 11 ). It is concluded that delaying the timing of intrauterine insemination relative to pessary withdrawal and the use of acepromazine maleate as a sedative at the time of insemination are deleterious to embryo development and subsequent viability.  相似文献

Six-day-old bovine ova/embryos were recovered non-surgically and used as biomonitors to evaluate time of artificial insemination. These embryos/ova provided information regarding fertilization status and embryo quality, as well as quantitative and qualitative data regarding associated accessory sperm. Both sperm access to the ovum (addressed by accessory sperm) and fertilization status/embryo quality were important in addressing pregnancy rate for specific intervals from the onset of estrus to insemination. Based on these biomonitors, early insemination failed to achieve optimum pregnancy rate due to inadequate access of sperm to the ovum (i.e., low fertilization rate, manifested by low accessory sperm numbers). However, embryo quality was high in early inseminations, which favors pregnancy. Late insemination failed to achieve optimum pregnancy rate (due to reduced embryo quality), however, sperm access to the ovum was highest. Thus, the selection of an insemination time to achieve optimum pregnancy rate appeared to be a compromise between the two extreme intervals. For timed-AI programs, consideration of the time of ovulation (and its variability) becomes important, in addition to conventional considerations, such as semen handling, site of insemination, and bull selection.  相似文献

Thirty-nine potential embryo transfer and 13 ovum collection experiments were initiated within a small experimental herd of mainly nulliparous cattle. Donors for 50 of the experiments were treated with pregnant mares' serum gonadotrophin (PMSG) with or without human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) to induce superovulation. Optimal responses (3–20 ovulations) occurred in 56.4 % of treated animals; there was some evidence of reduced responsiveness to repeated treatment. Overall ovum and embryo recovery rate at slaughter or laparotomy was 46.3 % but in some experiments exceeded 80 % on Days 4 and 5 after estrus. Recovery rates were adversely affected by previous surgery and by excessive ovulation rates. 73% of recovered ova were fertilized. Only 20 of the 39 potential transfer experiments were completed, 15 of the 19 incomplete experiments being due to donor failures (lack of superovulation in 11 cases, no fertilization in four). Transfers of three embryos (one case), two embryos (19 cases) or one embryo (four cases) were made surgically to 24 recipients. Of the first 10 recipients, one conceived; of the last 14, ten (71.4%) did so. Best, results were obtained by collecting ova on Day 5 or 6 and using recipients within one day of being synchronous with the donor. Embryos collected at slaughter gave results as good as did those collected surgically. Ten of the pregnant recipients had received more than one embryo but only four gave birth to more than one calf. Some problems associated with the practical application of this technique are discussed.  相似文献

Pregnancy rates were compared between fertile and infertile donors in an embryo transfer program. Non-surgical embryo transfer techniques were utilized for examination of uterine contents and collection of ova. Recovered embryos were transferred surgically into suitable recipients. Three groups of donors were included in this investigation: a) fertile; b) infertile, due to known causes (diagnosed); c) infertile, due to unknown causes (undiagnosed). There were 11.3, 6.6 and 8.0 corpora lutea; 6.8, 1.2 and 1.0 fertilized ova; 3.6, 0.8 and 0.4 pregnancies per superovulation for the fertile, diagnosed and undiagnosed groups, respectively. In 23 months, unsuperovulated, fertile, diagnosed and undiagnosed donors yielded 17, 15 and 9 fertilized ova which resulted in 15, 13, and 3 pregnancies, respectively. Donors treated for uterine infections, adhesions or cystic ovaries prior to superovulation responded with 10.1, 7.6 and 4.1 corpora lutea; 1.9, 4.0 and 0.3 fertilized ova; 1.1, 3.3 and 0.2 pregnancies per superovulation, respectively. Relatively few viable embryos were recovered from donors with chronic cystic ovaries or from infertile cows of unknown etiology. Infertile donors, when compared to fertile donors, were unproductive when used for embryo transfer.  相似文献

Xenogenous fertilization was accomplished using bovine, porcine, and hamster follicular oocytes. The xenogenous fertilization rates for bovine and porcine follicular oocytes in the oviduct of the pseudopregnant rabbit were 13.4% and 2.0%, respectively. Temperatures of ovary, during transport to the laboratory, of 0 degrees or 37 degrees C had no effect on xenogenous fertilization rates of bovine oocytes. In vitro culture in 50 mug/ml FSH did not alter the xenogenous fertilization rates of bovine oocytes. Fertilization was observed with oocytes recovered 40 to 75 hr after insemination. Two cell embryos were recovered 70 to 75 hr after insemination. Ligation of the rabbit oviduct, number of ova deposited and sperm concentration did not affect the xenogenous fertilization rates of hamster ova. Cleavage of xenogenously fertilized hamster oocytes occurred between 28 and 29 hours after insemination.  相似文献

Data were obtained on 1039 recoveries of embryos from beef cows of four breeds at two locations, in clinic and on farm. General linear models procedures were utilized to determine the effects of breed, location, age of donor, dosage of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and the interaction of age and FSH on the following dependent variables: 1) the mean number of ova (unfertilized oocytes and embryos) recovered; 2) the mean number and percentage of embryos (fertilized; live and dead) recovered; and 3) the mean number and percentage of transferable embryos recovered. The interaction of age of donor and dosage of FSH with breed and location prevented the pooling of data over breed and location. The mean number of ova recovered was affected by age of the donor (Charolais-in clinic), or the interaction between age of donor and dosage of FSH (Polled Hereford-in clinic and -on farm and Simmental -on farm). The mean number of embryos was affected by age of donor (Polled Hereford-in clinic), dosage of FSH (Simmental-in clinic) or their interaction (Angus-on farm). The mean number of transferable embryos was affected by age of donor (Polled Hereford-in clinic and -on farm, Simmental-in clinic and Angus-on farm). General linear models procedures were utilized to determine the effects of the embryo (stage of development and quality) and the recipient (synchrony with the donor) on the rate of pregnancy. Rate of pregnancy varied with embryo quality score and synchrony of the recipient and the embryo. In conclusion, the superovulatory response was found to be highly breed-specific, and most of the variability in embryos produced was attributed to the number of ova recovered. However, the number of ova, embryos and transferable embryos recovered was further influenced by age of the donor, dosage of FSH or their interaction.  相似文献

Superovulation and embryo transfer records on performance of embryo donor (n = 3,908; beef 99%, dairy 1%) and recipient (n = 19,936; beef 92%, dairy 8%) cattle from a commercial transfer unit were analyzed for environmental effects. Embryos (n = 42,428) were recovered on Days 5 to 8 postestrus from superovulated donors. Numbers of ova, fertilized ova and embryos of transferable quality were recorded. Transferable embryos were classified according to stage of development and morphological quality. Embryos (n = 19,936) were transferred nonsurgically. Responses were modeled with maximum-likelihood procedures using log-linear functions of independent variables and ANOVA. Fluctuations in daily maximum temperature (1 to 43 degrees C), for Days 0 to 7 of embryo development, had no effect on distribution of embryos classified as good (48%), fair (40%) and poor (12%). Temperature did not affect the percentage of donors flushed with recoverable ova (89%), mean number of ova (12.2 +/- 0.3), fertilization rate (76%) or percentage of transferable embryos (57%). Recipient pregnancy rate (56%) was not affected by mean maximum temperature for Days 0 to 10 posttransfer. Interactions between temperature and breed type (dairy vs beef), parity (cow vs heifer), or lactational status (lactating vs dry) on pregnancy rate were recorded. Elevated environmental temperature does not appear to adversely affect reproductive responses of donor and recipient cattle intensely managed in a commercial transfer unit.  相似文献

A study was designed to evaluate the superovulatory response in the cow when either estradiol 17beta or gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) was used in a superovulatory regimen with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH-P). Fifty-four cyclic crossbred females were superovulated in replicates between Days 8 and 12 of their cycle. All animals were treated with 28 mg of FSH-P in twice-daily decreasing doses, each receiving 500 mug cloprostenol (PGF) 48 h after initiation of treatment. Group 1 served as FSH-P controls, Group 2 received FSH-P and 400 mug of estradiol 17beta 36 h after PGF, and Group 3 received FSH-P and 250 mug GnRH 48 h after PGF. Inseminations with one vial of frozen semen were done at 12, 24 and 36 h after the onset of estrus. Ova/embryos were collected nonsurgically at Day 7 postestrus. Numbers of corpora lutea (CL) were recorded after palpation per rectum and the recovered ova and embryos were evaluated. All females were bled for endocrine examination. There were no differences in ovarian response among these treatments. Mean total ova/embryos collected in Group 3 was significantly higher than in Groups 1 or 2 (P < 0.05); however, no significant difference existed between groups in the mean numbers of fertilized or transferable embryos. Similarly, no significant differences existed between groups for recovery rate, fertilization rate, or percentage of transferable embryos. Serum estradiol levels were significantly higher at the expected end of ovulation in Group 2, and this tended to be associated with higher fertilization and transferable embryo rates. Furthermore, a significant positive correlation was found to exist between CL numbers and each of the ova/embryo parameters and the estradiol levels at estrus.  相似文献

After lambing in late November, oestrus and ovulation were induced by using a CIDR device and PMSG in early weaned (N = 13) or lactating (N = 14) Border Leicester x Scottish Blackface ewes between 23 and 29 days after parturition. Ewes were intrauterine inseminated under laparoscopic visualization 54-55 h after CIDR-device withdrawal and eggs recovered on Day 3 of the cycle. Ovum recovery and fertilization rates were higher in lactating than in early weaned ewes, with fertilization being achieved as early as 24 days post partum in both groups. Of the 7 early weaned and 11 lactating ewes yielding eggs, fertilization occurred in 4 and 7 ewes respectively. A total of 20 embryos were transferred to the normal uterine environment of 15 recipient ewes in which the interval from parturition was greater than 150 days. Pregnancies were successfully established in 9 recipient ewes, resulting in the birth of 10 viable lambs. Prolactin concentrations were significantly higher (P less than 0.001) in lactating than in early weaned ewes throughout the study. Nevertheless, normal luteal function (as assessed by daily progesterone concentrations) was exhibited by 12 of 14 lactating and 8 of 13 early weaned ewes. Two post-partum donors in which the corpora lutea completely failed to secrete progesterone yielded fertilized eggs which developed to term when transferred to a normal uterine environment. The results show that sheep oocytes can be fertilized using laparoscopic intrauterine insemination as early as 24 days after parturition and that the resulting embryos are viable when recovered on Day 3 after oestrus and transferred to a normal uterine environment.  相似文献

Early embryonic development in Thai swamp buffalo (Bubalus bubalis )   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
A total of 33 nonsurgical embryo collections was carried out to investigate early embryo development in Thai swamp buffalo. Collections were performed on Days 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 and 7.5. The different stages of embryo development on these days were the 16-cell stage, compact morula, blastocyst, hatched blastocyst and hatched expanding blastocyst, respectively. In addition, some degenerating embryos and unfertilized ova were also recovered. A higher recovery rate was obtained with single embryo collection after natural estrus than after induced estrus or superovulation, 78% (7 9 ) vs 46% (6 13 ) vs 54.5% (6 11 ), respectively. A higher percentage of normal embryos was also obtained with single embryo collection after either natural or induced estrus than after superovulation, 71% (5 7 ), 83% (5 6 ) and 38% (6 16 ), respectively.  相似文献

Recovery rate and embryo quality were investigated in beef heifers and suckled cows following superovulation induced by 2000 IU pregnant mare serum (PMSG) combined with different methods of estrus cycle synchronization (Norgestomet, Prid, Dinolytic, Norgestomet combined with Dinolytic). Genital tracts were flushed upon slaughter with Dulbecco's medium 6.5 to 7.5 days after insemination. Of the heifers, 42 out of 43 responded to treatment. The mean embryo recovery rate, based on the number of corpora lutea, was only 14.8%. Of the 83 embryos recovered, 54.2% had developed to the expected stage and only 40% appeared normal. Of the adult cows, 55 out 58 responded with an embryo recovery rate of 39.5%. Of the 149 embryos recovered, 48.9% had developed to the expected stage and 67.1% of these appeared normal. In both heifers and adult cows, the different methods of estrus synchronization produced no significant differences in recovery rate or embryo quality.  相似文献
