Studies in the cyperaceae of Thailand

Ten species ofCarex and one species ofKobresia from Thailand are taxonomically discussed, and some new range extensions into Thailand are noted. Described as new areCarex subinclinata andC. thailandica, both belonging to the sectionIndicae, andC. speciosa ssp.latifolia of the sectionRadicales. Two new combinations proposed areCarex helferi ssp.mapanifolia, andC. speciosa ssp.platyrhina.     

Six new species of melampodium (compositae: Heliantheae) from Mexico and Central America

Six species of the genusMelampodium are described as new:M. glabribracteatum, M. nayaritense, andM. pilosum (sect.Melampodium);M. costaricense, M. nutans, andM. sinaloense (sect.Zarabellia). Chromosome numbers forM. nutans andM. pilosum are reported asn = 11 andn = 10 respectively     

New names and combinations in Trixis (Compositae)

Trixis chiapensis, T. grandibracteata, T. mexicana var.auriculata, T. mexicana var.macradenia, andT. parviflora are described as new, and the combinationsT. californica var.peninsularis, T. michuacana var.longifolia, andT. pringlei var.oligantha are proposed. The application of the namesT. inula andT. michuacana is discussed.     

A new name and new combinations in Campomanesia and Pimenta (Myrtaceae)

One new name is proposed and eleven new combinations are made inCampomanesia andPimenta. Lectotypes are selected forC. eugenioides var.desertorum, C. phaea, andP. racemosa var.hispaniolensis, var.ouza, and var.terebinthina.

New Tigridieae (Iridaceae) from Mexico

A comparison of three heretofore undescribed species with the previously known species inTigridia subgen.Hydrotaenia suggests a realignment of taxa within the various complexes inHydrotaenia. Three species,T. venusta, T. illecebrosa, andT. catarinensis, and two subspecies,T. hallbergii ssp.lloydii andT. ehrenbergii ssp.flaviglandifera, are described.Sessilanthera citrina is described and the new taxonomic combinationS. heliantha (Ravenna) Cruden is proposed.     

Snow-land communities of Reykjanes Peninsula,SW. Iceland (Plant communities of Reykjanes Peninsula,part 4)

Snow-land communities in Reykjanes Peninsula are represented by the associationsHylocomio-Salicetum herbaceae, Rhodiolo-Bartsietum alpinae andRhytidiadelpho-Poetum alpinae, belonging to a new alliance,Antitrichio-Rhodiolion, and byAnthelietum Juratzkanae, Sibbaldio-Salicetum herbaceae andSibbaldietum procumbentis, belonging to the allianceSalicion herbaceae s. l. Their syntaxonomy and ecology are discussed.     

New species and new combinations in the sematophyllum subpinnatum complex (Sematophyllaceae)

Three new tropical American species ofSematophyllum are described with relatively broad leaves and short upper leaf cells:S. cubense, S. cataractae, andS. oedophysidium. The Central AmericaS. apaloblastum andS. barnesii are new combinations.Sematophyllum galipense, S. amnigenum, andS. cochleatum are briefly discussed.     

Two new species of Senecio section Palmatinervii (Asteraceae) from northeastern Mexico

Two new species ofSenecio,S. sundbergii andS. neogibsonii, belonging to the sectionPalmatinervii are described, illustrated, and compared to their nearest relatives,S. aschenbornianus andS. lanicaulis.     

Studies of Pacific island plants,XXXI. Notes on Fijian Sapotaceae

In reviewing the Fijian Sapotaceae it was found necessary to describe three new species,Planchonella sessilis, Palaquium porphyreum, andBurckella parvifolia, and to propose one new combination,B. fijiensis (Chelonespermum fijiense Hemsl.).     

New genera and species of ericaceae (Vaccinieae) from Costa Rica and Panama

Two new monotypic genera,Didonica andUtleya, are described, withD. pendula from Panama andU. costaricensis from Costa Rica.Disterigma trimera (Panama),D. utleyorum (Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador),Lateropora santafeensis (Panama),Lysiclesia panamensis (Panama),Macleania talamancensis (Costa Rica),Themistoclesia costaricensis (Costa Rica) andT. horquetensis (Panama),Vaccinium costaricense andV. orosiense (both from Costa Rica) and V.jefense (Panama) are all described as new. New combinations are provided for the PanamanianVaccinium floccosum (=Symphysia floccosa) and the West IndianVaccinium racemosum (=Symphysia racemosa). Keys are provided for the Central American species ofDisterigma andThemistoclesia, the species ofLateropora andLysiclesia, and the Costa Rican and Panamanian species ofVaccinium. Six new species are illustrated.
