A quantitative study of the soil and litter fauna of three South Australian low open forests was made for two years. The soil and vegetation of the sites were similar but the mean annual rainfall of the areas differed; 635, 690 and 1050 mm/y, respectively for the ‘dry’, ‘medium’ and ‘wet’ sites. Monthly samples were taken of litter, and the upper 0–4 cm and lower 4–8 cm soil layers, and the method used to estimate the numbers of active animals is also described. Mean annual population densities of Collembola and Acari were greatest at the medium site (9.5 and 48.6 × 103/m2, respectively) and least at the dry site (4.9 and 35.1 × 103/m2, respectively) and values are discussed in relation to site organic carbon content. Over all the sites, between 11–21, 67–75 and 10–15% of the collembolan populations, and 10–13, 66–72 and 16–21% of the acarine populations inhabited the litter layer and upper and lower soil layers respectively. Isotomidae were the most abundant collembolan family in each level at each site, but the overall proportion of Entomobryidae increased from the dry to wet site. Prostigmata were the most abundant acarine order in each level at two sites. Cryptostigmata were dominant in the litter layer of the wet site, and their overall proportion increased from the dry to wet site. Seasonal density changes were similar on all sites with minima in the summer and maxima in the winter months. The results obtained here combined with those from other published investigations indicate a trend of faunal population change over various ecosystems in Australia. Prostigmatid mites and iso-tomid Collembola dominate at arid sites. As sites become less arid and the amount of soil organic matter increases, the proportion of cryptostigmatid and mesostigmatid mites increases, and other groups of Collembola, particularly Entomobryidae, become more frequent.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Parthenogenesis is discussed according to type (arrhenotoky,thelytoky, deuteroLoky, artificial parthenogenesis, gynogenesis)and presence in various acarine taxa. Evidence for parthenogenesisis based on rearing and/or cytological studies. Arrhenotokyoccurs in Mesostigmata, Prostigmata and Astigmata and usuallydoes not occur sporadically throughout these taxa; when presentit operates in many closely related species as the major typeof reproduction in certain genera, subfamilies or families.Thelytoky is present in Mesostigmata, Metastigmata, Prostigmata,Astigmata and Cryptostigmata, but in no case is the major modeof reproduction in higher taxa, i.e. subfamilies, families.Its sporadic occurrence may or may not be accompanied by polyploidy.Deuterotoky occurs in one acarine group (Listrophoridae) andartificial parthenogenesis is possible in ticks (Metastigmata).Gynogenesis is present in several species of haplo-diploid Mesostigmata(some Dermanyssidae, Phytoseiidae), although it is usually consideredin connection with thelytoky. Current studies of the effectsof ploidy level on morphological variation indicate greatercharacter variability in diploid females than in haploid males.In some species of ticks thelytoky is expressed differentiallyeven on an intraspecific level. The composition and temporal changes of edaphic microarthropods in both litter layer and soil were analyzed in a tropical dry forest ecosystem in Western Mexico. Sampling was carried out from June 1991 to July 1992 in two small watersheds at the Chamela Biological Station (Jalisco State, Mexico). At each watershed 10 random cores samples, 11 cm in diameter and 5 cm depth, were taken monthly from each biotope from an area of 100 m2. Fauna was extracted by Berlese-Tullgren funnels and preserved in 75% ethanol. The total abundance of arthropods was 96,338 specimens, belonging to 33 taxa. Numerically dominant groups were Prostigmata, Cryptostigmata, Collembola and Mesostigmata, which constituted 92.6% of the total abundance. The effect of current monthly precipitation and temperature on density of total Arthropoda and different Orders was also investigated. Precipitation and temperature were significantly correlated with Collembola and Mesostigmata densities and also with total arthropod. The seasonal variation in the amount of litterfall was also significantly related to the abundance of arthropod in the litter layer biotope.  相似文献

Sixty-four species of Acari were extracted by wet sieving and salt flotation from soil in four barley plots sampled on five occasions between 23 May and 15 August 1975. Over half the species were Prostigmata. The most abundant species wereScutacarus longiusculus (Karafiat) (Scutacaridae, Prostigmata),Bakerdania gracilis (Krczal) (Pygmephoridae, Prostigmata), andTyrophagus longior (Gervais) (Acaridae, Astigmata).Only three species (B. gracilis, T. longior andPseudopygmephorus sellnicki (Krczal) (Pygmephoridae)) contributed more than 2% of the individuals and occurred in more than 25% of the samples in all plots.Mean population densities ranged from 41 to 216 thousand/m2, with highest density occurring in a conventionally ploughed and cultivated plot and lowest in a direct drilled plot. Prostigmata accounted for 46–85% of the total populations in the various plots.Twelve species were recorded from decaying crop residues on the soil surface; these included some of the most abundant species recorded from growing barley in a related study. Soil and crop residues were the main sources of most of the dominant species colonizing the growing barley crop.The barley plots had greater numbers of Prostigmata and Astigmata but fewer Cryptostigmata and Mesostigmata than were extracted by a high gradient canister technique from adjacent grass ley pasture sampled in its second and third years (1976 and 1977). Biomass in the older ley was far greater than in the barley. There were higher numbers of species of intermediate relative abundance (0.1–5%) in the ley, indicating more mature communities than in the barley plots.  相似文献

A survey on mites associated with stored seeds, flour and foodstuffs in Fayoum Governorate, Upper Egypt, proved the occurrence of about 24 species. Of these, 15 species in 8 families belong to Prostigmata, 6 species in 3 families belong to Astigmata and 3 species in 2 families belong to Mesostigmata.Members of the families Cheyletidae and Acaridae were the most common mites, found in many samples. Those of Caligonellidae, Ascidae and Raphignathidae were fairly common, but occurred in fewer types of samples. No mites were found in samples of lupine and camomile.  相似文献

Mites are involved in the decomposition of animal carcases and human corpses at every stage. From initial decay at the fresh stage until dry decomposition at the skeletal stage, a huge diversity of Acari, including members of the Mesostigmata, Prostigmata, Astigmata, Endeostigmata, Oribatida and Ixodida, are an integral part of the constantly changing food webs on, in and beneath the carrion. During the desiccation stage in wave 6 of Mégnin’s system, mites can become the dominant fauna on the decomposing body. Under conditions unfavourable for the colonisation of insects, such as concealment, low temperature or mummification, mites might become the most important or even the only arthropods on a dead body. Some mite species will be represented by a few specimens, whereas others might build up in numbers to several million individuals. Astigmata are most prominent in numbers and Mesostigmata in diversity. More than 100 mite species and over 60 mite families were collected from animal carcases, and around 75 species and over 20 families from human corpses.  相似文献

在2008年9月和2009年2月,采用改良干漏斗方法(Modified Tullgren)对黄淮海地区长期定位施肥试验下中小型土壤节肢动物进行调查。试验包括氮磷钾(NPK)、氮磷(NP)、氮钾(NK)、磷钾(PK)、有机肥(OM)、1∶1化学氮肥与有机氮肥(OMNPK)和不施肥(CK)7个处理。结果表明:OM和OMNPK处理有利于提高土壤动物丰富度和多样性;NK处理不利于土壤动物的生存和发展,缺磷影响了土壤动物数量的增长;从优势类群弹尾目和蜱螨目来看,OM和OMNPK处理对弹尾目等节跳科、棘跳科和球角跳科的生长有利,而圆跳科在NPK处理下具有更高的数量;OMNPK处理对蜱螨目中气门亚目有显著的正效应,对前气门亚目和甲螨亚目也有一定的正向作用;氮肥对弹尾目没有表现出正相关关系,但在一定程度上增加了蜱螨目的数量。  相似文献

Mites and ticks are susceptible to pathogenic fungi, and there are opportunities to exploit these micro-organisms for biological control. We have collated records of 58 species of fungi infecting at least 73 species of Acari, either naturally or in experiments. Fungal pathogens have been reported to kill representatives of all three orders of the Actinotrichida (the Astigmata, Oribatida and Prostigmata) and the Ixodida and Mesostigmata in the Anactinotrichida. Most reports concern infections in the Prostigmata, particularly in the families Tetranychidae and Eriophyidae. Two species of Acari-specific pathogens - Hirsutella thompsonii and Neozygites floridana - are important natural regulators of pestiferous eriophyoid and tetranychid mites respectively. Research has been done to understand the factors leading to epizootics of these fungi and to conserve and enhance natural pest control. Hirsutella thompsonii was also developed as the commercial product Mycar for the control of eriophyoid mites on citrus, but was withdrawn from sale in the 1980s, despite some promising effects in the field. Beauveria bassiana , Metarhizium anisopliae, Paecilomyces farinosus, Paecilomyces fumosoroseus and Verticillium lecanii infect ixodid ticks in nature, and B. bassiana and M. anisopliae are being studied as biological control agents of cattle ticks in Africa and South America. Beauveria bassiana also has potential as a mycopesticide of the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae . There is scope to develop fungal biocontrol agents against a range of acarine pests, both as stand-alone treatments and for use in integrated pest management. Further research is required to clarify the taxonomic status of fungal pathogens of Acari, to study their ecosystem function, and to develop efficient mass production systems for species of Hirsutella and Neozygites .  相似文献

对浙西南山区4种不同覆盖年限下毛竹林地的土壤入渗、土壤理化性质、土壤根系和土壤动物特征进行了研究.结果表明:不同覆盖年限林地及同一林地不同土壤层次下土壤渗透性能存在较大差异,随着土层加深各林地土壤渗透性能均降低.渗透性能表现为覆盖1次林地>未覆盖林地>覆盖2次和3次后的林地.Kostiakov模型适合该研究区域的土壤水分入渗过程模拟.随着林地覆盖年限的增加(4~6年),林地土壤总孔隙度、非毛管孔隙度、pH值显著降低,而土壤容重、有机质和全N含量则显著提高.土壤初渗率、稳渗率、平均渗透率和渗透总量等均随根长密度减少而变小,土壤入渗能力的变化与直径0.5~5.0 mm的根长密度有关.不同覆盖年限毛竹林地土壤动物的平均密度差异显著,覆盖1次的林地最高,而覆盖3次的林地最低.综合纲、唇足纲、倍足纲、膜翅目、伪蝎目等大中型节肢动物,蜱螨目甲螨亚目、中气门亚目,以及弹尾目棘跳科、长角跳科、疣跳科、驼跳科等小型节肢动物数量的减少不利于土壤水分入渗.毛竹林长期覆盖会使土壤理化性状劣变,减弱土壤入渗性能,限制土壤动物活动,进而导致毛竹林退化.  相似文献

The community and trophic structure of mites was examined in cattle manure and their response to treatment of manure with solid-waste particles was investigated. Mites were collected from artificial dung pats exposed to natural colonization in the field for 16 days. The pats were composed of manure alone or manure separately mixed with waste-material particles of four types and concentrations.Mites were the numerically dominant taxon among arthropods in manure. The Prostigmata was the most abundant suborder, mainly represented by the families Pygmephoridae and Ereynetidae. The common families of Mesostigmata were all cosmopolitan. Correlations with other arthropods suggest that Mesostigmata are opportunistic predators, preying upon dipteran larvae, Collembola and other mites, and preyed upon by larger predatory insect larvae. Cryptostigmata and Astigmata were a numerically minor community component.The species composition and abundance upon treatment of manure with polyethylene, polystyrene and glass particles was similar to that of the treatment control, i.e. natural and inert sand. Relatively low concentrations, 5 and 30% (v/v), of particles in manure did not alter the mite communities despite important differences with untreated manure in final moisture content. These findings may be relevant to proposed methods of solid-waste disposal. High particle concentrations of 60 and 90% had detrimental effects to the abundance of mites in manure and were caused by the very low final moisture content and probably nutrient deficiency of these treatments. The persistence of members of the prostigmatid families Tydeidae, Nanorchestidae and Tarsonemidae in the moisture-deficient 90%-concentration treatments supports previous evidence of adaptations to low-water-content habitats.  相似文献

Three major lineages of mites are parasitic in the nasal passages of birds, i.e., Rhinonyssidae (Mesostigmata), Ereynetidae (Prostigmata), Cytoditidae, and Turbinoptidae (Astigmata). The most diverse family of avian nasal mites is Rhinonyssidae, which include obligate hematophagous endoparasites of nonratite birds worldwide. Nasal mites have been surveyed extensively in the United States, yet there has never been a Canadian survey. There are only 4 published, and 3 unpublished, rhinonyssid species records from birds in Canada. While surveying the nasal mites associated with birds of Alberta and Manitoba (western Canada), 1 new species of Dermanyssus and 5 new species of Rhinonyssidae were recovered. Herein, I describe and illustrate Dermanyssus diphyes n. sp., Ptilonyssus calvaria n. sp., P. nivalis n. sp., P. pinicola n. sp., P. plesiotypicus n. sp., and Sternostoma setifer n. sp.  相似文献

车八岭山地常绿阔叶林冰灾后土壤节肢动物群落的多样性   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
2008年初车八岭山地常绿阔叶林受到中国南方80年一遇的冰灾的重创。为了揭示灾后林冠开度的梯度对土壤节肢动物多样性与分布的影响, 在受冰灾影响的车八岭山地常绿阔叶林设置2 ha固定样地, 按照冠层受损程度选取17个20 m×20 m的样方, 用半球面影像技术获取林冠开度, 并分凋落物层、0–10 cm和10–20 cm的矿质土层采集凋落物及土壤样品, 分析土壤节肢动物多样性。利用双向聚类分析(two-way cluster analysis)对凋落物层的土壤节肢动物和样地进行聚类, 以典范对应分析(canonical correspondence analysis)研究冠层开度、土壤有机质、电导率以及自然含水量与0–10 cm表土层土壤节肢动物的关系。结果表明土壤节肢动物的多度、丰富度和多样性随土壤层的加深而下降, 具有明显的表聚性; 林冠开度与凋落物层的土壤节肢动物类群数量呈负相关; 甲螨亚目、中气门亚目和前气门亚目动物对光照的适应范围广; 膜翅目、鞘翅目幼虫、综合纲和伪蝎目动物具有明显的避光性; 土壤节肢动物类群的分布与林冠开度、土壤自然含水量、电导率和有机质关系密切。因此可以推论, 冰灾对车八岭山地常绿阔叶林冠层的破坏及土壤因子的变化会进一步影响土壤节肢动物群落的组成和分布。本项研究还表明, 土壤节肢动物群落能有效地表征它们所栖息的生态系统的特点, 可用于监测冰灾后森林恢复和演替动态。而双向聚类分析和典范对应分析对于揭示土壤节肢动物的空间异质性及其与环境因子的相互关系具有理想的效果。  相似文献

Ecdysial cleavage lines of acariform mites (Arachnida, Acari)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Among mites the ancestral ecdysial cleavage line, or line of dehiscence (a), is inferred by outgroup comparison to be prodehiscent: U-shaped, passing around the front of the mite just above the insertions of the appendages, such that the mite ecloses anteriorly. From preserved and living individuals and exuviae, we found prodehiscence (or its slight variations) to be widespread in Acariformes. It appears to be pervasive in endeostigmatic mites, eupodine Prostigmata, and basal taxa in the Oribatida (Enarthronota, Palaeosomata); it is dominant in cleutherengone Prostigmata and is present in at least one anystine family (Caeculidae). Three general modes of dehiscence are considered to be derived within acariform mites. (1) Merodehiscence is a transverse splitting of the dorsal cuticle at or near the juncture of proterosoma and hysterosoma; it evolved separately in thrcc groups of Prostigmata (Tetranychidae, an undefined subgroup within Cheylctidae, and active instars of Parasitengona) and in a genus of Astigmata (Histiogaster). (2) Trarnsdehiscence is a transverse splitting of the dorsal hysterosomal cuticle anterior to the opisthosomal glands; it occurs in middle-derivative oribatid mites (the paraphyletic Desmonomata), and new observations show it to be widespread in Astigmata, lending support to the hypothesis that the latter group evolved from within Desmonomata. (3) Circumdehiscence is a circumferential splitting of the hysterosomal cuticle that may be incomplete anteriorly; it has long been known to characterize the monophyletic oribatid taxon Brachypylina, but it is convergent with a similar dehiscence in an unrelated family, Lohmanniidae. Transdehiscent and circumdehiscent mites eclose posteriorly. Astigmata exhibit the greatest variety of modes of dehiscence, including the three derived modes and a probable reversal to prodehiscence in Algophagidae. Furthermore, heteromorphic deutonymphs (hypopi) may ecdyse differently from other immature instars of the same species.  相似文献

长白山阔叶红松林土壤氮化亚氮和甲烷的通量研究   总被引:11,自引:1,他引:10  
采用静态箱/气相色谱分析方法对长白山阔叶红松林两个处理的N2O和CH4通量进行了研究.结果表明,凋落物对土壤N2O排放和CH4吸收的影响是显著的,影响程度分别是36.9%和23.4%.两个处理的N2O排放通量季节变化趋势相似:夏季(6~8月)的排放通量最高,春季(3~5月)次之,秋(9~11月)冬(12~1月)两季较低.其日变化趋势也相似:最大值都出现在18:00,最小值都出现在12:00和14:00.CH4吸收通量的季节变化趋势也很相似:夏秋两季的吸收通量明显高于春冬两季的吸收通量.其日变化趋势也相似:从14:00开始持续上升到18:00达到最大值,然后持续下降到早晨6:00达到通量的最小值.研究还发现,长白山阔叶红松林土壤的N2O排放和CH4吸收间存在着一种负线性相关关系.  相似文献

A two-year study on the effects of experimentally incorporated oily industrial wastes on the community structure of soil mites was performed at an old-field site in central New York State (U.S.A.). Twenty plots were divided among five groups: three treatment groups which received different application rates of oily wastes (High, Medium, Low), a natural control group (Natural) which was left undisturbed, and a rototilled control group (Control) which was subject to physical disturbance comparable to that of treatment groups, but not waste application. Wastes were applied at three times during the study (Treatments I–III) and samples were taken monthly and extracted with a high-gradient extractor.Effects of rototilling and oily waste application varied among major mite groups and the 86 species represented. In some instances effects were immediate; in others they were either delayed (determined by population phenology characteristics) or were initially masked, as when strong rototilling effects made waste-treatment effects indistinguishable. The overall immediate impact of rototilling was a reduction in both density and diversity of all mite groups (except diversity of Mesostigmata) in the upper 5 cm of soil, without total extirpation of any species. Clear negative impacts of oily wastes were noted for all major groups except the Mesostigmata, and seemed to be striking regardless of application rate. It was recovery time, rather than initial effects, which varied with application rate; heavier applications required longer periods of recovery. Relative rankings of species were clearly altered only in the Prostigmata, and only after Treatment I, but the effect was short-lived.This study was supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, subcontracted through Cornell University, Ithaca, NY (Contract CR-809285).  相似文献

To assess the effect of management of a park on soil arthropods, communities of Oribatida and Collembola were analyzed at 11 sites of different vegetation in Tsurumi Park, an urban park of Osaka City. The type of canopy layer and soil density strongly affected the community parameters, such as species diversity. Ordination revealed that soil density, contents of organic matter, and shrub layer were important for variety in the oribatid community; the shrub layer was important for the collembolan community. Species richness of both arthropod groups was highest in a mixed forest and lowest on bare land, while the abundance of Collembola was highest on a lawn site. Areas of a common vegetation type had a similar oribatid community;Trichogalumma nipponica dominated in deciduous forests,Eohypochthonius crassisetiger in mixed forests and one of coniferous forests. On the other hand, collembolan communities did not correspond with the vegetation.Sminthurinus sp. was collected from every site, and the most abundant species wasCryptopygus thermophilus that exhibited an outbreak on lawn sites. A significant correlation existed between species diversities but not between abundances of Oribatida and Collembola.  相似文献

The community structures of Mesostigmata, Prostigmata, and Oribatida in the soil of broad-leaved regeneration forests and conifer plantations of various ages were assessed alongside soil and plant environmental variables using three response metrics (density, species richness, and species–abundance distribution). The density and species richness of mites recovered swiftly after clear-cutting or replanting. Oribatid mites dominated the soil mite communities in terms of densities and species richness for both forest types. Soil mite communities in broad-leaved forests was related to forest age, the crown tree communities index, and forest-floor litter weight. In contrast, soil mite communities in the conifer plantation sites were related to various indices of understory plants. The development of the understory plants was synchronized with the silvicultural schedules, including a closed canopy and thinning. Such a conifer plantation management may affect indirectly the community of mites.  相似文献

The Astigmata, a large and variable group, is still a subject of taxonomic dispute. Particularly, their origin from ancestors of the lower oribatid mites (e.g., Malaconothroidea) seems well documented by many lines of evidence. The structure of spermatozoa has been successfully applied to phylogenetic investigations in many animal groups. The aim of our study was to provide new data on spermatozoon structure in Astigmata and to consider its appropriateness in phylogenetic studies. The study reveals information on spermatozoa in 17 species of Astigmata (11 species studied for the first time) extending our knowledge to 18 species (one species known only from the literature) representing 12 families and 7 superfamilies. Spermatozoa have the same basic structure in all species: cells are multiform and the chromatin forms thin threads embedded directly in the cytoplasm; the acrosome is absent. The cytoplasm in most species contains electron-dense lamellae, varying in both number and arrangement within the cell. In Sarcoptoidea, electron-dense tubules in contact with lamellae margins were also observed in Psoroptidae (Psoroptes equi), whereas in two representatives of Sarcoptidae (Notoedres cati and Sarcoptes scabiei), only electron-dense tubules were found. In two species, Canestrinia sellnicki (Canestrinioidea: Canestriniidae) and Scutulanyssus obscurus (Analgoidea: Pteronyssidae), neither lamellae nor tubules were present. The mitochondria in a spermatozoon are usually gathered at the cell periphery and their structure is usually modified to form so-called mitochondrial derivatives. The chromatin threads are an autapomorphy strongly supporting the monophyly of Astigmata. As spermatozoa vary considerably between species in Astigmata, we deduce that sperm structure may be useful for phylogenetic analyses within the group. Several conclusions concerning the affinities within Astigmata are presented. Spermatology seems to be unhelpful, however, in questions on the origin of Astigmata (particularly for Astigmata-Oribatida relationships), since their sperm do not possess synapomorphies with sperm of the remaining groups of Acariformes, i.e., Endeostigmata, Prostigmata, and Oribatida.  相似文献

The occurrence of parthenogenesis in springtails of the Palaearctic was studied. Parthenogenetic species were recorded in all main phylogenetic lines and were more abundant in the families that included species with euedaphic life forms. Among Onychiuridae and Isotomidae, the fraction of species capable of reproducing without males was about 10–15%. The deep soil dwellers showed weaker capacities for aggregation in experiments. The parthenogenetic species comprise the majority of collembolan populations in different biotopes, up to 78% in forest soils and 50% in chernozems. Occupation of deep soil horizons and expansion of distribution ranges appear to be the result of biological progress of the species which have switched to parthenogenesis.  相似文献

深入了解N2O在不同生态系统土壤及大气中产生和交换特征对于全球气候变化研究具有重要意义.本研究重点探讨N2O在高寒草原近地表圈层中的产生及迁移过程机制.于2000年7月至2001年7月在青藏高原高寒草原地区从土壤1.5 m深到大气中32 m高度10个层次梯度进行N2O浓度变化的观测.结果显示,土壤和大气中N2O浓度均有明显的变化特征.大气中各个层次N2O的浓度都低于土壤中N2O浓度,此浓度差异直接导致了该地区高寒草原土壤向大气中排放N2O气体,其平均排放通量为0.05×10-4μmo1.m-2.s-1,但是在实验点上全年的观测中,N2O气体排放并没有表现出明显的季节性变化特征.土壤中N2O浓度随深度增加而不断升高,浓度最高值出现在1.5 m深处.进一步的分析表明,N2O浓度随深度递增主要是由环境因子中同样递增的土壤湿度所引起的.大气中不同梯度上N2O气体没有明显的浓度差异.近地表各个圈层中N2O浓度在季节上有非常相似的变化特征,即N2O高浓度均出现在入秋和深冬时节.除了N2O浓度变化在各个圈层之间显著相关以外,表层土壤中N2O浓度也与N2O排放变化有明显的相关关系,这表明浓度的差异是导致N2O气体排放变化的最直接因素.近地表土壤中N2O气体是土壤表层N2O气体排放的直接源泉,并且深层土壤中的N2O气体浓度高于浅层土壤,由此我们可以认定土壤中N2O气体通过微生物作用产生以后,由于浓度差异导致从深层土壤到浅层土壤的逐步扩散,最后经地表排放到大气当中去.  相似文献
