Influence of different nitrogen salts at electrical conductivity levels (EC2, 4 and 8?mmhos/cm) on tomato and root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne javanica) and their interactions was evaluated under field conditions. It was found that both diammonium phosphate ((NH4)2HPO4) and ammonium sulphate ((NH4)2SO4) were more effective than ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) in causing an obvious suppression of M. javanica infection on tomato through reducing root galling and nematode reproduction and improving tomato growth and yield and their suppressive effect was similar to that of oxamyl or ethoprophos. At higher ECs, the tested nitrogen salts did not greatly affect pH, EC and salinity of rhizospheric soil except NH4Cl at EC8 that caused higher EC and salinity over the untreated control which makes NH4Cl less suitable candidate. Therefore, the use of (NH4)2HPO4 and (NH4)2SO4 alone or in combination with other control measures could control M. javanica and improve the growth and yield of tomato under field conditions. 相似文献

Six amino acids viz. DL-methionine, DL-valine, DL-serine, DL-phenylalanine, L-proline and L-histidine were tested against root knot of tomato caused by Meloidogyne javanica. All amino acids showed significant response in plant growth characters with corresponding reduction in the number of galls, adult females, egg masses and juvenile stages within the treated plants. DL-phenylalanine gave significantly higher response in reducing the hatch of egg masses and survival of juveniles in in vitro test compared to control. The highest plant growth and maximum reduction of galling incidence of tomato were recorded in the DL-phenylalanine- treated plants followed by L-proline and L-histidine. All the amino acids gave positive response in suppressing the development of the nematode in the treated plants. 相似文献

Experiments were carried out to investigate the nematicidal potential of a cyanobacterium, Oscillatoria chlorina, against the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne arenaria on tomato plants grown in pots filled with 500 cm3 of field soil infested with 12-s stage juveniles (J2)/cm3 soil. Incorporation of freeze-dried cyanobacterial powder into potted field soil at the rate of 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8% and 1.0% (w/w) 5 days prior to tomato planting, reduced root galling, final population of M. arenaria and increased vegetative growth of tomato plants and root-mass production, compared with untreated control (P > or = 0.05). The beneficial effect of adding cyanobacterial powder into infested potted field soil increased exponentially with concentration up to 0.8%. Root galling and nematode population decreased by 68.9% and 97.6%, respectively at the highest dose (1%) of cyanobacterial powder compared with the untreated control. Addition of cyanobacterial powder into infested potted field soil at 5 days before planting was the most effective followed by 2 days before and at the time of tomato planting. We conclude that application rate and timing are important factors in the control of root-knot nematodes with O. chlorina. 相似文献

An acetone extract of Nodularia harveyana wasshown to be toxic to the free-living nematode Cephaloboides oxycerca. This antagonistic effect wastested in pot culture trials with lyophilized biomasson gall induction by the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita, using different methods ofapplication of the cyanobacterial biomass to thetomato plants. The trials revealed a possibleutilization of biomass of this cyanobacterium as aprotection agent against this phytoparasite. 相似文献

Glasshouse experiment was conducted to assess the impact of green chopped leaves of four test plants (Lantana camara, Ficus virens, Kigelia pinnata and Ficus bengalensis) and two nematicides (Phorate and Carbofuran) on the plant growth parameters of tomato cv. K25 and on the root-knot development. Results revealed that all the tested treatments significantly (p = 0.05) improved plant growth parameters and reduced root-knot development compared to control. Among the tested organic additives, chopped green leaves of Lantana camara added to soil gave the highest enhancement in plant growth parameters, including plant height, fresh and dry weight, number of fruits and fruit weight with the values of 94.2 cm, 106.8 g, 31.6 g, 7.2 and 153.3 g respectively, as well as a greater reduction of Meloidogyne javanica reproduction and development but exhibiting a lower response compared to nematicides. There was also significant reduction in root-knot development in tomato plants growing in other organic additive amended soil. 相似文献

The present study was carried out to assess the nematicidal potential of Punica granatum L. against the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica responsible for yield losses in tomato. Varied concentrations of methanolic, ethanolic and aqueous extracts from pomegranate peels were investigated for activity against eggs and juveniles of M. javanica in in vitro assays. All extracts used significantly inhibited egg hatch by over than 75%, but viability of second-stage juveniles (J2) was not significantly inhibited by ethanolic extract. Aqueous extract was assessed at the concentration of 10, 25 and 50% against M. javanica on tomato in greenhouse trials; pomegranate peels powder was also tested at the rate of 3, 6 and 9 g as a soil amendment. Both extracts significantly reduced nematode infestations; aqueous extract enhanced plant growth but powder amendment exhibited a phytotoxicity compared to the untreated plants. The reduction in number of galls, egg masses and nematode reproduction rate was recorded. 相似文献

In order to develop biological control methods that are effective against the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) chitwood, the activity of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of wild plant species distributed on Okinawa
Island on the viability and mobility of second stage M. incognita juveniles (J2s) was evaluated. Eleven of the 29 extracts immobilized at least half of the J2 stage nematodes in an in vitro
assay. Aqueous extracts of Bidens pilosa L. var. radiata Scherff, Hydrocotyle dichondroides Makino, Oxalis corymbosa DC., Oxalis corniculata L., and Stenactis annus (L.) Cass gave 90% or better immobilization activity. Among these, B. pilosa var. radiata had the highest activity. Significant immobilization, lethality, repellence and egg hatching inhibition were observed with
extracts from each B. pilosa plant part, but especially from leaves. The effects of plant extracts on the mobility of M. incognita were higher than on the free-living nematode Panagrolaimus sp., suggesting that M. incognita could be suppressed using B. pilosa extracts without significantly affecting beneficial nematodes. 相似文献

The green alga Chlorella vulgaris has the ability to bind high amounts of uranium(VI) in the pH range from 3 to 6. At pH 3 up to 40% of the uranium are bound
by the algal cells. The uranium removal is almost complete at pH 5 and 6 under the given experimental conditions. Scanning
electron microscopy and laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy were used to characterize uranyl species formed in the selected
pH range. The micrographs show a regular distribution of U(VI) on the cell surface. Fluorescence spectroscopic investigations
of formed algal uranyl complexes indicate that the binding of U(VI) to carboxyl groups plays a dominating role at pH 3, whereas
a minor impact of organic phosphate compounds on the U(VI) sorption cannot be excluded. In contrast, at pH 5 and 6 the phosphate
groups are mainly responsible for the removal and binding of U(VI) by formation of organic and/or inorganic uranyl phosphates. 相似文献

The nematicidal action of three seed mill wastes from cress (Eruca sativa Mill.), castor (Ricinus communis L.) and linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) as soil additives were tested at three rates (on base lower rate, recommended rate and higher rate), under field conditions at the research and production station of the National Research Centre, El-Nubaria district, El-Beheira governorate, Western Nile Delta region, Egypt, to study the physiological influence of these substances on potato yield, their role against Meloidogyne arenaria infection and the alkaloidal content. All the evaluated treatments significantly (p???0.05 and/or 0.01) reduced the numbers of juveniles in soil and in roots, number of galls, egg masses, gall and egg mass indices and consequently rate of nematode build-up as compared to untreated plants(control). Statistical differences in the nematode stages were found within and between treatments. The percentage of reduction in the nematode stages was comparatively more with using of Linseed mill wastes followed by castor seed mill wastes, then cress seed mill wastes. Regarding to the potato yield, all the evaluated amendments achieved significantly (p???0.05 and/or 0.01) increased, total contents of alkaloidal content as compared to untreated plants. On the other hand, all the evaluated amendments achieved significantly (p???0.05 and/or 0.01) decreased the solanine values as compared to untreated plants. These results indicate that some natural compounds may be used as natural nematicides in controlling M. arenaria nematode and improving the quality and yield of potato plants. 相似文献

We investigated what gene(s) in the plant roots have the positive role against repressing root-knot nematode (RKN) infection. We investigated the interaction between RKN infection and gene expression in the plant roots induced by methyl jasmonate (MeJA). We focused on the induced resistance response and the duration after foliar treatment with MeJA of 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, and 5.0mM at 1, 24, 48, and 72h prior to the inoculation of RKN. As a result, the foliar treatment with MeJA at 0.5mM or higher concentrations significantly reduced the infection of RKN in plants and the effect lasted for about 1 week. The repressing effect on RKN population declined to the lowest level in two weeks after MeJA treatment. The expression of proteinase inhibitors (PIs) and multicystatin (MC) were induced while the repressing effect on RKN was valid and a negative correlation was found between the expression of PIs or MC and RKN infection. In addition, when tomato plants no longer expressing MC and PIs were treated again with MeJA, the repressing effect revived. These phenomena appeared to be regardless of the existence of Mi-genes or isolate of RKN. Our results indicate that the expression level of MC and PIs may be effective as marker genes for estimating the induced resistance response against RKN infection. 相似文献

The results of experiment clearly reveal that cadmium inhibited root penetration by the second stage juveniles (J2) of Meloidogyne incognita which subsequently affected the development of root galls in tomato. The heavy metal was highly injurious to tomato plants at all the concentrations tested for (7.5, 15.0, 30.0 and 60.0?ppm). The inhibitory effect on plant growth and other parameters (fresh and dry weight of plant, chlorophyll content of leaves, water absorption capability of roots) significantly increased with an increase in the concentration of the metal. It was further increased in the presence of the nematode. 相似文献

Meloidogyne incognita is one of the most important plant parasitic nematodes. This study was conducted to determine the nematicidal potential of Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae against M. incognita. B. bassiana and M. anisopliae spore suspensions and bio -nematicide, Purpureocillium lilacinum were applied. B. bassiana and M. anisopliae revealed considerable nematicidal activity against M. incognita in tomato and cucumber. The gall index decreased gradually from 8.0 for control to 3.2, 2.0 and 2.2 for B. bassiana, M. anisopliae and P. lilacinum in tomato, respectively. The highest reduction (%) in gall formation (control index) was calculated as 75.2 % in M. anisopliae treated group for tomato. The gall index was 7.6 for control, but decreased to 3.6, 2.0 and 2.2 for B. bassiana, M. anisopliae and P. lilacinum in cucumber, respectively. The highest control index was 71.7 % for M. anisopliae in cucumber. The number of the second instar juveniles of M. incognita was recorded as 2240 for control. However, this value reduced to 508, 332 and 328 by B. bassiana, M. anisopliae and P. lilacinum in tomato, respectively. The highest control indexes for the second instar juveniles were 85.2 % and 85.3 % for M. anisopliae and P. lilacinum in tomato, respectively. Alike, the highest control indexes were 84.9 % and 85.7 % for the same applications in cucumber, respectively. B. bassiana and M. anisopliae displayed also positive effect on the number of leaves, dry and fresh root weights of tomato. The results showed that B. bassiana and M. anisopliae can be considered as an alternative. 相似文献

The effect of four opportunistic fungi viz., Paecilomyces lilacinus, Cladosporium oxysporum, Gliocladium virens and Talaromyces flavus on the life cycle of the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica, on brinjal was evaluated under glasshouse conditions. The results revealed that these fungi affected the penetration and development of M. javanica. The life cycle of M. javanica was delayed by 10, 7, 4 and 2 days in the presence of P. lilacinus, C. oxysporum, G. virens and T. flavus respectively. Fecundity, number of eggs per eggmass and number of larvae was also reduced in the presence of these opportunistic fungi. However, the number of males increased in the presence of opportunistic fungi. 相似文献

The ability of tomato root tips transformed with Agrobacterium rhizogenes and non-transformed onion and dandelion root tips to regenerate and provide suitable monoxenic hosts for the maintenance of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne hapla) was investigated. Populations of M. hapla were successfully established on all root culture systems examined, but the onion root culture was overall the most effective method for long-term maintenance and reproduction of M. hapla. The use of a pre-induction medium containing the hormone !-naphthaleneacetic acid was necessary for the production of onion root culture systems but was not required for the establishment of tomato or dandelion root cultures. Differences in nematode reproduction were observed on tomato when multiple populations of M. hapla were used for inoculations. 相似文献

On the first of seeds germination, Meloidogyne javanica induced knots on the stem eventually by to penetrate into the coleoptiles. In this experiment, used soil was loamy-sandy type, pH=7.2, including 1.5% composts. Tomato seedlings of cultivar Rutgers were used as host. This experiment was conducted in Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 10 replicates as fallow: (1) control, (2) 10 J2s/cm3 of soil, (3) 20 J2s/cm3 of soil. In each pot (1000 cm3), 50 seeds were planted. Inoculation was done, a day after to plant seeds, in 2 cm depth. Pre-emergence and post-emergence damping-off, number of stem-knots, height of knots on the stem in 3 treatments was more than 2 treatments. In some of the pots of 2 treatments were not observed stem-knots. As long as four weeks after planting, there was not significant difference in fresh weight and height of the seedlings in treatments. Numbers of adult females in 3 treatments were more than 2. In the stem-knots, collenchymas tissue, endodermis and stem cambium were found deformed J2s and J3s, and adult females. 相似文献

Resistance to root-knot nematodes [Meloidogyne arenaria (Neal) Chitwood] is needed for cultivation of peanut in major peanut-growing areas, but significant resistance is lacking in the cultivated species (Arachis hypogaea L.). Markers to two closely-linked genes introgressed from wild relatives of peanut have been identified previously, but phenotypic evidence for the presence of additional genes in wild species and introgression lines has eluded quantitative trait locus (QTL) identification. Here, to improve sensitivity to small-effect QTLs, an advanced backcross population from a cross between a Florunner component line and the synthetic amphidiploid TxAG-6 [Arachis batizocoi × (A. cardenasii × A. diogoi)]4× was screened for response to root-knot nematode infection. Composite interval mapping results suggested a total of seven QTLs plus three putative QTLs. These included the known major resistance gene plus a second QTL on LG1, and a potentially homeologous B-genome QTL on LG11. Additional potential homeologs were identified on linkage group (LG) 8 and LG18, plus a QTL on LG9.2 and putative QTLs on LG9.1 and 19. A QTL on LG15 had no inferred resistance-associated homeolog. Contrary to expectation, two introgressed QTLs were associated with susceptibility, and QTLs at some homeologous loci were found to confer opposite phenotypic responses. Long-term functional conservation accompanied by rapid generation of functionally divergent alleles may be a singular feature of NBS-LRR resistance gene clusters, contributing to the richness of resistance alleles available in wild relatives of crops. The significance for peanut evolution and breeding is discussed. 相似文献

Pathogenic effect of root-knot nematode Meloidogyne arenaria was studied on balsam (Impatiens balsamina) by inoculating the different inoculum levels of root-knot nematode. It was observed that the inoculum levels up to 2000 J2 of root-knot nematode did not show significant reduction in plant growth characters as compared to control. Although the significant reduction in plant growth characters was recorded at and above 3000 J2 of root-knot nematode, progressive increase in the host infestation as indicated by the number of galls as well as the population of root-knot nematode was recorded with an increase in the level of inoculum. However, the rate of nematode multiplication was reduced with the increase in the inoculum density of M. arenaria. It can be concluded from these results that the damaging threshold level of M. arenaria on balsam was found to be as 3000 J2/plant. 相似文献
