A new yeast species, Torulopsis pampelonensis is described. Six strains were recovered from a gleyic Andosol under a beech forest and two other strains from the surface of fallen leaves of Fagus silvatica L. Although it showed some morphological and physiological similarities with Torulopsis tannotolerans Jacob and Torulopsis navarrensis Ramírez and Moriyón, it differed from all Torulopsis species presently known.  相似文献

A new yeast species,Torulopsis bombicola, is described, that produces extracellular hydroxy fatty acid sophorosides. It utilizes relatively few carbon compounds. It forms a mannan having a proton magnetic resonance spectrum similar to the spectra of the galactomannans ofTorulopsis apis, Torulopsis nodaensis andT. magnoliae, but differing from those ofT. gropengiesseri galactomannan andT. apicola mannan.Issued as N.R.C.C. Summary The yeast flora involved in the traditional fermentation process of cocoa during four harvest seasons in the Ivory Coast was studied. Twenty-nine species belonging to 11 genera were identified. The following species were the most frequently isolated:Saccharomyces chevalieri,Pichia membranaefaciens, Candida krusei, Torulopsis holmii, Torulopsis Candida. This flora is similar to that found in other parts of the world.
Resumen Levaduras en la fermentación del cacao en la Costa de Marfil Se estudiaron las levaduras envueltas en la tradicional fermentación del cacao durante cuatro cosechas consecutivas en la Costa de Marfíl. Las especies aisladas con mayor frecuencia fueron las siguientes:Saccharomyces chevalieri, Pichia membranaefaciens, Candida krusei,Torulopsis holmii, Torulopsis candida. Flora que es similar a la hallada en otras partes del mundo.

Résumé La flore de levures dans la fermentation des fèves de cacao en Côte d'Ivoire La flore des levures intervenant dans la fermentation traditionnelle du cacao a été étudiée en Côte d'Ivoire au cours de quatre saisons de récolte. Vingt-neuf espèces appartenant à 11 genres ont été identifiées. Les espèces les plus fréquemment isolées sont:Saccharomyces chevalieri, Pichia membranaefaciens, Candida krusei, Torulopsis holmii, Torulopsis Candida. Cette flore est similaire à celles trouvées dans d'autres parties du monde.

Summary In 12 Netherlands soil samples, in two successive analyses carried out in the autumn of 1952, the author has isolated up to 105 cultures of yeasts to be classified under the following species:Kloeckera apiculata, Torulopsis inconspicua, Torulopsis pulcherrima, Candida Guilliermondii, Rhodotorula mucilaginosa, Aureobasidium pullulans, Hansenula saturnus, Hansenula californica, Saccharomyces mangini, Saccharomyces ellipsoideus andPichia membranefaciens. In all the soils examined the quantity of yeasts found has been very small. The results obtained do not offer evidence for any relationship between manurial treatment and species and number of yeasts occurring. Sporeforming yeasts were less numerous than non-sporeforming ones.

Yeasts belonging to seven species were isolated and identified from the intestines of 388 adult worker honey bees, Apis mellifera. Torulopsis magnoliae, Candida parapsilosis, and Torulopsis grabrata were found in bee guts most frequently. The intestines of bees from colonies fed a combination of Terramycin and Fumidil B contained few or no yeasts. More guts of bees from colonies fed 2,4-D contained yeasts than those examined from bees from control colonies.  相似文献

Yogurts purchased from retail outlets were examined for the presence of yeasts by being plated onto oxytetracycline malt extract agar. Of the 128 samples examined, 45% exhibited yeast counts above 103 cells per g. A total of 73 yeast strains were isolated and identified as belonging to the genera Torulopsis, Kluyveromyces, Saccharomyces, Candida, Rhodotorula, Pichia, Debaryomyces, and Sporobolomyces. Torulopsis candida and Kluyveromyces fragilis were the most frequently isolated species, followed by Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Rhodotorula rubra, Kluyveromyces lactis, and Torulopsis versatilis. The growth of yeasts in yogurts was related to the ability of the yeasts to grow at refrigeration temperatures, to ferment lactose and sucrose, and to hydrolyze milk casein. Most yeast isolates grew in the presence of 100 μg of sorbate and benzoate preservatives per ml. Higher yeast counts from yogurts were obtained when the yogurts were plated onto oxytetracycline malt extract agar than when they were plated onto acidified malt extract agar.  相似文献

Pichia guilliermondii, Schwanniomyces occidentalis, Torulopsis candida and several riboflavin-dependent mutants of Torulopsis candida were grown in a medium with a low concentration of iron. In these conditions, the activity of GTP-cyclohydrolase which catalyzes the first step of flavinogenesis increases. The activity of the enzyme increases also when the cells of T. candida and P. guilliermondii with a high content of iron are incubated with alpha, alpha'-dipyridyl which induces overproduction of riboflavin; this action of alpha, alpha'-dipyridyl is eliminated by cycloheximide. Therefore, iron deficiency in the cells of these yeasts causes derepression of GTP-cyclohydrolase participating in riboflavin biosynthesis. The activity of the enzyme is inhibited by FAD but not by FMN and riboflavin.  相似文献

Hydrocarbon-assimilating yeasts and bacteria were isolated from soil and sewage. The optimal conditions of cell yield from liquid paraffine by a Torulopsis yeast and a Pseudomonas strain were studied. A Torulopsis yeast gave, in optimal condition, 70 percent cell yield on a weight conversion basis from light oil fraction. In a strain of Pseudomonas the additions of amino acids, Fe+ +, Mg+ + and Ca+ + ions were effective for cell production. This strain showed, in optimal condition, 80 percent cell yield (wt%) from kerosene.  相似文献

The proton magnetic resonance spectra of the mannose-containing polysaccharides of 42Torulopsis species were determined and used as a basis for placing these species in seven groups. Five of the groups consisted of species which formed mannose-containing polysaccharides with spectra whose H-1 regions were like those of the mannans and galactomannans of species ofSaccharomyces, Pichia, Hansenula, Debaryomyces orMetschnikowia. The sixth group consisted ofTorulopsis bombicola, Torulopsis apicola and a number of other yeasts which were mostly sugar- and salt-tolerant. The seventh group consisted of species whose mannose-containing polysaccharides had spectra unlike those in the preceding groups. Some of the spectra had similarities to those of the mannose-containing polysaccharides of a miscellany of yeast species.  相似文献

Summary During the traditional fermentation of cocoa, yeasts with pectinolytic activity are involved in the degradation of the pulp. Saccharomyces chevalieri, Torulopsis candila, and Candida norvegensis, as well as Kluyveromyces fragilis included in this study as a control strain all have a pectinolytic activity (endopolygalacturonase E.C. 3.2.1.15). The enzymes studied have the same optimal pH of activity [5] but are different from each other in their optimal temperature and their thermal stability. The enzymes of Torulopsis candida and Kluyveromyces fragilis have the highest optimal temperature (60° C). Among the strains studied, Candida norvegensis produced the greatest amount of exocellular enzyme.  相似文献

A numerical taxonomic analysis was performed on 79 phenotypic characters of 147 imperfect yeast species currently assigned to the genus Candida. The characters used were drawn from two monographs on yeast taxonomy. The analysis revealed 10 clusters of three or more species that were similar at the level of 75% or more, and seven clusters containing only one or two species. None of the 10 major clusters contained exclusively species that were traditionally assigned to the genus Torulopsis, while the 12 Candida species of basidiomycetous affinity fell into three clusters with only one species of ascomycetous affinity included. Statistical determination of the five most important differential characters for each cluster failed to show the property of pseudomycelium/mycelium formation as significant for any cluster. The study provides no evidence to support a distinction between taxa that were formerly divided between the genera Candida and Torulopsis and supports previous proposals that these genera should be fused.  相似文献

Abstract Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation of five Torulopsis glabrata isolates resulted in the appearance of a wide variety of auxotrophic variants. 16 auxotrophic phenotypes were observed. These results suggest that typical isolates of this amictic yeast are haploid.  相似文献
