Amorphophallus nicolsonianus species nova, with cylindrical or napiform corms, is the only representative of the sect.Rapyogkos in India. All the other hitherto known species of this region have globose or depressed globose corms. The new species is related to some Indochinese species and toA. hildebrandtii (
Engl.)Engl. & Gehrm. from Madagascar. 相似文献

Summary Two new localities are reported for the fresh-water polychaete worm Manayunkia speciosa. Details of the two lakes from the investigations in the summers of 1961, 1963 and 1964 are given. A short summing up of the various Manayunkia species is presented, viz. M. speciosa Leidy 1858, M. aestuarina (Bourne) 1883, M. baicalensis (Nusbaum) 1901, M. caspica
Annenkova 1920, and M. brasiliensis
Banse 1956. The opinion of Zenkevich (1935) and Kozhov (1963) that the genus may be rather old is accepted, but it is emphasized that other theories must rest, until much more is known about the various species. 相似文献

Desmarestia antarctica
Moe & Silva, a new species from the Antarctic Peninsula and the Scotia Arc, is distinguished from all other ligulate members of the genus by the arrangement of zoosporangia, which are produced together with paraphyses in a raised sorus. Among all species in the genus, onlyD. anceps
Montagne shares this feature.Desmarestia antarctica is the first species of the genus for which an endophytic gametophyte is demonstrated, the usual host beingCurdiea racovitzae
De Wildeman, a red alga of the familyGracilariaceae. The sporophyte contains only a moderate concentration of acid compared to Northern Hemisphere ligulate species, while physodes that probably contain polyphenolic compounds form noticeable speckles and dark margins in preserved plants. Often more than one axis arises from a single holdfast, probably as the result of compounding rather than proliferation.Dedicated to Prof. DrLothar Geitler on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birthday. 相似文献

The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of select Agaricales species to utilize various sources of carbon, nitrogen, vitamins, and growth hormones. Fungi selected for the studies include:Cantharellus clavatus
Fries,C. cibarius
Fries,Lepista nuda (Bull. ex. Fries)Cooke,Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq. ex. Fries)Kummer, andVolvariella volvacea (Bull. ex. Fries)Singer. Three strains ofC. cibarius and one mutant ofV. volvacea (V135), V134, were employed to determine if nutritional requirement differences occurred. One species,V. volvacea, is grown commercially as a cottage industry in the Orient (Alicbusan &Ela, 1961) while the other species currently have no commercial value. All species studied possess pleasing flavors and have potential use in the mushroom production industry.A literature compilation of the nutritional regulation of basidiocarp formation and vegetative growth of Agaricales was made with specific mention to the named species (Volz &Beneke, 1969). Recent nutritional studies with one or more of the specific species include those byYusef &Allam (1967), andEger (1970). 相似文献

Hieracium vierhapperi (Asteraceae) a new species to the Carpathians, with some remarks on its origin
Zbigniew Szeląg 《Biologia》2006,61(1):19-24
Hieracium vierhapperi (Zahn) Szeląg, known so far only from the Alps, was discovered in the Nízke Tatry Mts in Slovakia, as a new species to the Carpathians.
Diagnostic characters, illustration and distribution as well as ecology of H. vierhapperi in the Nízke Tatry Mts are given. A key to distinguish H. vierhapperi from the morphologically related species is added. The Carpathian plants are tetraploid (2n = 36) and reproduce apomictically. The origin of H. sect. Cernua R. Uechtr in the Western Carpathians is briefly discussed. 相似文献

The nomenclatural history of the generic nameParmeliopsis is reviewed. Its correct citation is found to beParmeliopsis (Nyl. exStizenb.)Nyl., dating from 1866, not 1869 as commonly cited, withP. placorodia (Ach.)Nyl. as holotype species. There is consequently no nomenclatural problem to the adoption ofForaminella
Fricke Meyer, typified byF. ambigua (Wulfen)Fricke Meyer for theParmeliopsis species with falcate conidia. A synopsis of the nomenclature of the North American and European species of both these genera is included. 相似文献

A comparison of the West AfricanNeoschumannia
Schltr. and the East AfricanSwynnertonia
S. Moore reveals that the two monotypic genera must be united.Swynnertonia is sunk into synonymy ofNeoschumannia and the new combinationNeoschumannia cardinea (S. Moore)Meve is made for the East African species.Neoschumannia is shown to belong to the tribeStapelieae. The taxon exhibits a very unusual character combination: the growth form of a woody liana is combined with a tripartite corona unique within theAsclepiadaceae. The morphology of the corona suggests a position ofNeoschumannia close to the base of theStapelieae —Ceropegiinae alliance. 相似文献

Saitoella
coloradoensis sp. nov. (NRRL YB-2330, CBS 12360, type strain, MycoBank accession number 563858) is described. This new member of the phylum
Ascomycota, subphylum Taphrinomycotina was isolated from insect frass occurring in an Engelmann spruce (Picea
engelmannii) that was growing in Colorado, USA. Multigene sequence analysis showed that S. coloradoensis is distinct from Saitoella
complicata, the only other known species of Saitoella. The two species may be separated phenotypically from growth reactions on d-xylose, ribitol and methyl-α-d-glucoside. Asexual reproduction is by budding and both species produce thick-walled, spherical cells that appear morphologically
similar to the ascogenous cells formed in plant host tissue by species of Protomyces and some species of Taphrina. The thick-walled cells did not form ascospores but did produce buds when placed on fresh growth media. 相似文献

Summary The author reviews the European species of the Pteromalid genusCallitula
Spinola and keys them out. All four species develop as parasites, probably all on small Diptera: two species [pyrrhogaster (Walk.) andbicolor
spin.] on Cecidomyids and Chloropids in grass stems, two species are associated withPhragmites communis [C. ferrierei sp. n. andelongatus (Thoms)]. From the latter two one is described as new and in the other (elongatus) the so-far-unknown male is described. *** DIRECT SUPPORT *** A5180147 00002

Summary The sex chromosomes of the male phasmid Isagoras schraderi
Rehn comprise an X and a Y, — each with a submedian kinetochore, and one euchromatic and one heterochromatic arm. At meiosis X and Y form an unequal sex bivalent in which the euchromatic arms are terminally associated. Relatively recent reversion from the XO-XX mechanism characteristic of the Phasmidae is indicated by the presence of the euchromatic arm in both X and Y. The diploid number of the male is 34.Unequal autosomal bivalents are found at meiosis in two other species of Isagoras — Isagoras subaquiles
Rehn and Isagoras sp. — and in Pseudophasma menius
Westwood. The chromosome complements of these species are described. 相似文献

The five annual species ofAdonis L., sect.Adonis, growing in Israel, form a series of diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid species. Their somatic chromosome numbers are 2n = 16 inA. annua L.,A. dentata
Del. andA. palaestina
Boiss., 2n = 32 inA. microcarpa DC., 2n = 48 inA. aestivalis L.; counts forA. dentata, A. palaestina andA. microcarpa are new records. There are indications that alloploidization may have been involved in the process of speciation in sect.Adonis. A taxonomic survey of the 8 species of the section reveals that a higher ploidy level is usually combined with a larger distribution area. 相似文献

Summary Several forest fungi, primarily species that occur in Mississippi, are discussed, and three species are described as new. These includeBotryobasidium (subgenusBrevibasidium)croceum
Lentz,Tharoopama mississippiensis
Lentz, andHarpographium zonatum
Lentz.Dactylium leptosporum (Sacc.)Lentz is recognized as a distinct species, rather than as a subspecies ofD. dendroides
Fr.
Allescheriella crocea (Mont.)Hughes,D. leptosporum andMelanographium cookei
M. B. Ellis are reported from Mississippi for the first time. Attention is called to the fact thatM. citri (Fragoso &Ciferri)M. B. Ellis apparently has not previously been reported from the United States, although a specimen from Florida is in the National Fungus Collections.B. croceum evidently represents the basidiophorous stage ofA. crocea. 相似文献

Eight strains isolated from birds, reptiles, and water constitute a new DNA hybridization group that is 37–58% related toEdwardsiella tarda and less than 10% related to other species of Enterobacteriaceae (SI nuclease method). This homogeneous group (78–100% relatedness
within the group) constitutes a new species that is namedEdwardsiella hoshinae sp. nov. (type strain, CIP 78.56 ATCC 33379). Strains of this species produce acid fromd-mannitol, sucrose,d-trehalose, and salicin, and give a positive malonate test. Seven other strains that produced acid fromd-mannitol and sucrose (but not fromd-trehalose and salicin) and were malonate negative were found to belong to theEdwardsiella tarda DNA hybridization group. The base composition of the DNAs ofE. tarda andE. hoshinae is 55–58 mol% G+C. 相似文献

The pollination syndromes ofLeonotis (Pers.)R. Br. are discussed. Ornithophily accounts for most of the nutlets set in perennialLeonotis species but in the annual species [L. nepetifolia (L.)R. Br.] autogamy prevails.Leonotis species are predominantly pollinated by a variety of sunbirds, although bees are also involved. Nectar is sucrose-dominant in perennial species but hexose-dominant in the annual. 相似文献

Interspecific hybridizations were made between species of theE. semicostatus group, viz.,E. semicostatus (Nees exSteud.)Meld.,E. validus (Meld.)B. Salomon,E. abolinii (Drob.)Tzvel., andE. fedtschenkoi
Tzvel., and species of theE. tibeticus group, viz.,E. pendulinus (Nevski)Tzvel.,E. tibeticus (Meld.)Singh,E. shandongensis
B. Salomon, andE. gmelinii (Ledeb.)Tzvel., as well as among species within theE. tibeticus group. All species are tetraploid (2n = 4x = 28) and possess SY genomes. Meiotic pairing data from 24 hybrids involving 17 interspecific combinations are presented. The average number of chiasmata per cell ranged from 17.91 to 26.20 in hybrids within theE. tibeticus group, compared with 7.26 to 22.04 in hybrids between the two species groups. Despite the extensive collection of cytological data, there was no definite evidence for confirming or disproving the separate existence of the two groups. 相似文献

Six species and subspecies of theS. nemorensis group from the Carpathians are recognized here, based on morphometric analyses (cluster and discriminant analyses). A new speciesS. ucranicus Hodálová and a new hybridS. ×dominii Hodálová=S. germanicus Wallr.×S. ucranicus Hodálová, occurring in the East Carpathians and the eastern part of the South Carpathians, are described. The vicarious nature ofS. hercynicus Herborg subsp.hercynicus, S. dacicus Hodálová etMarhold andS. ucranicus Hodálová in the Carpathians is documented. A key to theS. nemorensis group in the Carpathians as well as toS. nemorensis L. s. str. is presented. 相似文献
