Subgenus Erodioidea , comprising 19 species, is diagnosed exclusively by the type of fruit discharge and associated morphological characters, all of which are of widespread occurrence within the Geraniaceae. We have no evidence to suggest that the three included sections ( Erodioidea, Aculeolata and Subacaulia) form a monophyletic group. Cladistic analysis of a data set containing 30 morphological characters has confirmed our doubts of monophyly of the subgenus by placing part of the outgroup within the ingroup. Subsequent analyses of the two included non-monotypic sections, Erodioidea and Subacaulia , give different results. For both sections, the monophyly assumption is reasonably well-supported by characters. However, while analysis of sect. Erodioidea results in an explicit hypothesis of relationships and a fully resolved cladogram, resolution within sect. Subacaulia is low. For analysis of the latter, seven different outgroups were used and, in each one, the successive approximations weighting procedure (available in the program Hennig 86) was followed to improve resolution. Despite this, lower nodes in the cladogram remained unresolved, and strict consensus trees of all the analyses resulted in only a few replicated subterminal clades. These results are discussed in connection with biogeographical data and with the hypothesis that representatives of sect. Subacaulia are schizoendemics.  相似文献

D. Component B represents a circular house tradition probably belonging to an earlier period in the Coalescent Tradition than does Component A. Abstract

The Ashland Bottoms site (14RY603) is a multi-component habitation consisting of a turn of the 20th century American corncrib superimposed upon a Kansas City Hopewell occupation. The ceramics suggest the site is late Kansas City Hopewell dating c. 300-500 A.D. while the artifact assemblage indicate it was a specialized, limited activity site, probably a bison and meat/hide processing base camp. Whether the Kansas City Hopewell population is resident in the Manhattan area or seasonally came into the region from Kansas City cannot be completely ascertained on the present data, but there is a strong possibility these people were permanent residents.  相似文献

Initial work at the Elliott site, Geary County, Kansas, reveals three cultural components: Archaic (Munkers Creek?), Woodland, and Smoky Hill, spatially distributed over the site in five clusters. We report on the incidence of dermatophytes isolated in Lanzarote island from June-95 to December-99. We gathered 76 samples. Tinea corporis was the most frequent (40.79%) condition, and after this, tinea pedis (26.31%). Trichophyton rubrum was the commonest agent isolated involving 52.63% of patients. We compare our results with other canarian studies, and with clinical patterns described in other spanish studies published in the 1990's. From these comparations we can deduce: a) The distribution of clinical pictures is not homogeneous among the papers, b) tinea corporis etiology is heterogeneous among the series and c) tinea pedis etiology is homogeneous in most of studies. We believe that the comparison by clinical forms avoids any bias due to distribution of clinical forms.  相似文献

Background

Surgical site infections (SSI) are an important cause of peri-surgical morbidity with risks that vary extensively between patients and surgeries. Quantifying SSI risk would help identify candidates most likely to benefit from interventions to decrease the risk of SSI.

Methods

We randomly divided all surgeries recorded in the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program from 2010 into a derivation and validation population. We used multivariate logistic regression to determine the independent association of patient and surgical covariates with the risk of any SSI (including superficial, deep, and organ space SSI) within 30 days of surgery. To capture factors particular to specific surgeries, we developed a surgical risk score specific to all surgeries having a common first 3 numbers of their CPT code.

Results

Derivation (n = 181 894) and validation (n = 181 146) patients were similar for all demographics, past medical history, and surgical factors. Overall SSI risk was 3.9%. The SSI Risk Score (SSIRS) found that risk increased with patient factors (smoking, increased body mass index), certain comorbidities (peripheral vascular disease, metastatic cancer, chronic steroid use, recent sepsis), and operative characteristics (surgical urgency; increased ASA class; longer operation duration; infected wounds; general anaesthesia; performance of more than one procedure; and CPT score). In the validation population, the SSIRS had good discrimination (c-statistic 0.800, 95% CI 0.795–0.805) and calibration.

Conclusion

SSIRS can be calculated using patient and surgery information to estimate individual risk of SSI for a broad range of surgery types.  相似文献

The evolutionary dynamics of the 4CL gene encoding 4-coumarate:coenzyme A ligase was investigated in the genus Larix (Pinaceae) by comparing copy number, GC content and codon usage, sequence divergence, and phylogenetic analysis. All 4CL clones of Larix formed a strongly supported monophyletic group, in which two robust clades (4clA and 4clB) derived from an ancient gene duplication event in the common ancestor of Larix were identified. Further gene duplication in the 4clA clade gave rise to two subclades 4clA(1) and 4clA(2). Frequent duplication/deletion appears to be a common evolutionary phenomenon in the 4CL gene family and paralogous genes differ greatly in their evolution rate. The existence of L. speciosa in subclades 4clA(1) and 4clA(2) suggests that this species may represent a primitive form of Larix or the closest relative of the common ancestor of the Eurasian Sect. Multiserialis. In addition, cpDNA and nrDNA ITS analyses support the hypothesis of an early separation of Larix into a North American and a Eurasian clade, which is congruent with the results of previous allozyme and very recent AFLP analyses. The unexpected close relationship between North American larches and the short-bracted species L. gmelinii in East Asia, based on the 4CL gene tree, may stem from lineage sorting.  相似文献

4-coumarate:CoA ligase (4CL), the last enzyme of the general phenylpropanoid pathway, provides precursors for the biosynthesis of a large variety of plant natural products. 4 CL catalyzes the formation of CoA thiol esters of 4-coumarate and other hydroxycinnamates in a two step reaction involving the formation of an adenylate intermediate. 4 CL shares conserved peptide motifs with diverse adenylate-forming enzymes such as firefly luciferases, non-ribosomal peptide synthetases, and acyl:CoA synthetases. Amino acid residues involved in 4 CL catalytic activities have been identified, but domains involved in determining substrate specificity remain unknown. To address this question, we took advantage of the difference in substrate usage between the Arabidopsis thaliana 4 CL isoforms At4CL1 and At4CL2. While both enzymes convert 4-coumarate, only At4CL1 is also capable of converting ferulate. Employing a domain swapping approach, we identified two adjacent domains involved in substrate recognition. Both substrate binding domain I (sbd I) and sbd II of At4CL1 alone were sufficient to confer ferulate utilization ability upon chimeric proteins otherwise consisting of At4CL2 sequences. In contrast, sbd I and sbd II of At4CL2 together were required to abolish ferulate utilization in the context of At4CL1. Sbd I corresponds to a region previously identified as the substrate binding domain of the adenylation subunit of bacterial peptide synthetases, while sbd II centers on a conserved domain of so far unknown function in adenylate-forming enzymes (GEI/LxIxG). At4CL1 and At4CL2 differ in nine amino acids within sbd I and four within sbd II, suggesting that these play roles in substrate recognition.  相似文献

CL 115,129 and its methyl ester, CL 115,347, were studied for their vasorelaxant effects and compared to that of prostaglandin (PG) E2 and its methyl ester on isolated ductus arteriosus (DA) from fetal lambs and rabbits. CL 115,129 and CL 115,347 potently relaxed the oxygen-indomethacin constricted ductus in a concentration dependent manner. The threshold concentration was 1×10?13M and the estimated EC50's (M) were 6.9×10?8 and 4.3×10?8, respectively, for CL 115,129 and CL 115,347. Also confirmed was the vasorelaxant ability of PGE2. These studies indicate that the CL compounds possess potent vasorelaxant effects on the DA although less potent than PGE2 or its methyl ester.  相似文献

As part of our search for botanical sources of SARS-CoV 3CL(pro) inhibitors, we selected Torreya nucifera, which is traditionally used as a medicinal plant in Asia. The ethanol extract of T. nucifera leaves exhibited good SARS-CoV 3CL(pro) inhibitory activity (62% at 100μg/mL). Following bioactivity-guided fractionation, eight diterpenoids (1-8) and four biflavonoids (9-12) were isolated and evaluated for SARS-CoV 3CL(pro) inhibition using fluorescence resonance energy transfer analysis. Of these compounds, the biflavone amentoflavone (9) (IC(50)=8.3μM) showed most potent 3CL(pro) inhibitory effect. Three additional authentic flavones (apigenin, luteolin and quercetin) were tested to establish the basic structure-activity relationship of biflavones. Apigenin, luteolin, and quercetin inhibited 3CL(pro) activity with IC(50) values of 280.8, 20.2, and 23.8μM, respectively. Values of binding energy obtained in a molecular docking study supported the results of enzymatic assays. More potent activity appeared to be associated with the presence of an apigenin moiety at position C-3' of flavones, as biflavone had an effect on 3CL(pro) inhibitory activity.  相似文献
