Abstract

During the summer of 1974 an archaeological reconnaissance of the Centennial Valley, located in Southwestern Montana, resulted in the location of 35 archaeological sites. These sites include occupation sites, tipi rings, and three obsidian quarries—the first verified obsidian sources in Montana. Numerous artifacts were recovered from these sites. Projectile points of the Cody Complex, McKean Complex and numerous corner-notched varieties indicate a long period of occupation of the Centennial Valley. Preliminary analysis of the obsidian, recovered as artifacts or debitage from sites in the valley, indicates extensive use of the Centennial quarries as well as a heavy reliance on sources outside the valley.  相似文献

Abstract

A resume of archaeological investigations in the Hell Gap Valley of southeastern Wyoming is presented. This research produced a detailed sequence of Plains PaleoIndian occupation of this section of the High Plains. from about 9000 to 5500 B.C. Identifiable complexes recognized include Goshen, Midland, Folsom, Agate Basin, Hell Gap, Alberta, Cody, and Frederick. Materials recovered represent camping activities rather than the better known game kills, and add dimension to our knowledge of Plains Paleo-Indian cultures.  相似文献

In the present study, four Pt(II) complexes with 2-ethyl (1)/or benzyl (2)/or p-chlorobenzyl (3)/or 2-phenoxymethyl (4) benzimidazole carrier ligands were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxic activities against the human HeLa cervix, oestrogen receptor-positive MCF-7 breast, and oestrogen receptor-negative MDA-MB 231 breast cancer cell lines. The plasmid DNA interactions and inhibition of the BamHI restriction enzyme activities of the complexes were also studied. Complex 3 was found to be more active than carboplatin for all examined cell lines and comparable with cisplatin, except for the HeLa cell line.  相似文献

Abstract

A novel proton transfer compound (HMeOABT)?+?(HDPC)? (1) and its Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes (25) have been prepared and characterized by spectroscopic techniques. Complex 4 has distorted octahedral conformation revealed by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. Structures of the other complexes might be proposed as octahedral according to experimental data. All compounds were also evaluated for their in vitro inhibition effects on hCA I and II for their hydratase and esterase activities. Although there is no inhibition for hydratase activities, all compounds have inhibited the esterase activities of hCA I and II. Data have been analyzed by using a one-way analysis of variance. The comparison of the inhibition studies of 15 to parent compounds indicates that 15 have superior inhibitory effects. The inhibition effects of 25 are also compared to inhibitory properties of the metal complexes of MeOABT and H2DPC, revealing an improved transfection profile.  相似文献

Abstract

Speciation of Cd, Cr, Mn, Ni and Pb in fly ashes derived from iron-smelter works was carried out. Samples were collected at three technological points and subjected to different treatment by strong acids in open vessels and pressurized Teflon bombs. The chemical investigations were completed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) method. Determination of toxic metals was performed by atomic adsorption spectrometry. Based on the results it was found that the heavy metals were generally bounded to silicates in the different samples.  相似文献

BackgroundThis article reviews the salient features of recent results of clinical studies. It puts a special emphasis on technical aspects, mechanisms of action together with radiotherapy and chemotherapy and points out areas for additional investigation.AimTo present the current state of knowledge on hyperthermia (HT) and to highlight its role in the treatment of cervical cancer.Materials and methodsThe literature on the clinical use of combined hyperthermia for cervical cancer was analyzed. Clinical outcomes together with the technical aspects and the role of HT were also evaluated.ResultsClinically randomized trials have demonstrated benefit including survival with the addition of hyperthermia to radiation or chemotherapy in the treatment of cervical cancer without significant acute or late morbidities. The technological advances have led to an effective and safer treatment delivery, thermal treatment planning, thermal dose monitoring and online adaptive temperature modulation.ConclusionsDue to rapid development over the last decade of hyperthermia systems and new studies at the basic science and clinical level, the perception of hyperthermia as a part of multimodality treatment in cervical cancer has been changed. However, there is still a need for multicentre randomized clinical trials.  相似文献

Abstract

In an effort to develop safe and potent anti-inflammatory agents, a series of novel 4′-fluoro-2′-hydroxychalcones 5ad and their dihydropyrazole derivatives 6ad was prepared. It was synthesized via aldol condensation of 4′-fluoro-2′-hydroxyacetophenone with appropriately substituted aldehydes followed by cyclization with hydrazine hydrate. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cyclooxygenase inhibition selectivity and analgesic activities. The dimethoxychalcone 5a and its dihydropyrazole derivative 6a showed the highest antioxidant activity, while the monomethoxychalcone 5d and its dihydropyrazole derivative 6d showed the highest analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities. It was also found that there is a close correlation between 4′-fluoro-2′-hydroxychalcones 5ad and their dihydropyrazole derivatives 6ad in the screened biological activities. To explain the correlation between the synthesized chalcones and their dihydropyrazole derivatives, especially for the anti-inflammatory activity, docking studies were performed.  相似文献

Abstract

The identification of an early lithic horizon in Oklahoma is made and theories concerning its cultural affiliation, site locations, distribution, and artifact typology are described.

The common characteristics of 20 sites in central Oklahoma are listed; site location - on high ground and on tributaries rather than streams; lithic debris found mostly in eroded gullies, quartzite material and core tools predominant on most sites, finished tools found in a minority of sites; Plainview points found at 2 sites and points being generally very rare; and no pottery on any sites.

The culture is equated at the technological 11level11 of the Cochise culture of southern Arizona and New Mexico.  相似文献

目的:观察复合凝乳酶胶囊对不同亚型功能性消化不良儿童临床表现、营养状态和摄食行为的影响及安全性。方法:以2017年8月至2018年9月在湖北省妇幼保健院儿童消化内科就诊的功能性消化不良(Functional dyspepsia,FD)儿童为研究对象进行问卷调查,观察治疗前和复合凝乳酶治疗2 w后患儿临床症状变化及药物相关不良反应的发生情况,监测患儿身高和体重,进行膳食情况的调查。结果:共163例儿童纳入研究,发生餐后不适综合征(Postprandial distress syndrome, PDS)66例,上腹痛综合征(Epigastric pain syndrome, EPS)97例。治疗前,PDS组儿童症状总分明显高于EPS儿童(6.9±2.7 vs 3.6±1.7,t=5.90,P=0.00)。PDS组儿童WAZ、WHZ、HAZ、身高别体质量Z值(weight for height Z score,WHZ)、年龄别身高Z值(height for age Z score,HAZ)、年龄别体质量Z值(weight for age Z score,WAZ)、体质量指数(body mass index,BMI)、膳食多样化分数(Dietary diversity score, DDS)均明显低于EPS组(P均0.05)。治疗2 w后,PDS儿童症状总分明显降低(P=0.00),改善程度依次为:厌食早饱腹痛嗳气恶心腹胀。EPS儿童症状总分无明显变化(P=0.11)。PDS儿童WAZ、WHZ、DDS均有明显升高(P均0.05)。EPS儿童DDS无明显变化(t=0.22,P=0.30)。研究期间未见明显药物相关不良反应。结论:复合凝乳酶胶囊可改善PDS患儿的临床症状、营养状态和膳食多样性,且安全性高。  相似文献

This research investigated the role of oxidative enzymes in the defense response of buffalograss, Buchlo? dactyloides (Nuttall) Engelmann, to Blissus occiduus Barber. Changes in catalase and peroxidase activity were observed in both resistant and susceptible buffalograsses in response to chinch bug feeding. Susceptible plants were shown to have a lower level of catalase activity compared with their respective control plants. By contrast, catalase activities of resistant plants were similar between infested and control buffalograsses throughout the study. Resistant plants had higher levels of peroxidase activity compared with their control plants, whereas peroxidase activities for control and infested susceptible plants remained at similar levels or were slightly lower for infested plants. These findings suggest that chinch bug feeding leads to a loss in catalase activity in susceptible buffalograsses. In contrast, resistant buffalograsses may be able to tolerate chinch bug feeding by increasing their peroxidase activity. Polyphenol oxidase activities were similar between control and infested plants for the buffalograsses evaluated. Among the enzymes examined, no differences in isozyme profiles for peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase were detected between control and infested 378, NE91-118, Cody, and Tatanka plants. Gels stained for catalase identified differences in the isozyme profiles of infested and uninfested 378 plants; however, infested and control NE91-118, Tatanka, and Cody plants has similar isozyme profiles. No differences in protein profiles were observed between chinch buginfested 378, NE91-118, Cody, and Tatanka plants and their respective uninfested controls.  相似文献

Abstract

Analysis of artifacts recovered from the Moe site located in northwestern North Dakota reveals the presence of 15 blades and three blade-like flakes, the majority of which are made of Knife River Flint and have been modified by retouch flaking. A comparison of the Moe specimens to those from the Pelland site in northern Minnesota, the only other site from the study area which contains blades of Paleo-Indian age, indicates that the Moe specimens are smaller in all dimensions. The Pelland specimens are made of Knife River Flint and have been modified by retouch flaking. Examination of the literature on Paleo-Indian sites from the Plains region indicates that blade production is more common in Plano cultures particularly Agate Basin and Plainview-Goshen than in earlier Clovis or Folsom cultures or later Cody cultures. It is suggested that the Pelland and Moe site blades are Plano in age and most likely Agate Basin or Plainview-Goshen in cultural affiliation. A model provided by Leo Pettipas (1976) is used to suggest an eastward movement of Plains Plano cultures using Knife River Flint across southern Manitoba, eastern North Dakota, and into western and northern Minnesota following the recession of Glacial Lake Agassiz.  相似文献

Pyridine nucleotide transhydrogenase activities of a highly purified soluble NADH dehydrogenase and particulate NADH-ubiquinone reductase (Complex I) differ in their pH optima (5.0 and 6.0, respectively) and in their sensitivity to inhibition by Mg2+ and ATP. The oxidation of NADPH with ferricyanide as acceptor is very similar in both preparations with a pH optimum around 5.0. It is concluded that Complex I possesses two types of transhydrogenase activity, whereas only one has been found in the soluble dehydrogenase.  相似文献

Abstract

Candida rugosa is an excellent source of multiple lipase and esterase enzymes; therefore, it is of technological importance to formulate the medium that provides high activity for each enzyme. In this work, the cultivation medium comprising complex nutrients that provided the highest activity, productivity, and yield of C. rugosa enzymes individually was formulated. Time courses of the extracellular and intracellular lipase and esterase activities of C. rugosa were represented and the role of protease in the cultivation progress was discussed. Urea, soy-peptone, yeast extract, a mixture of soy-peptone and yeast extract, cheese whey, and wheat mill bran were tested for their lipolytic and esterasic activities. Urea provided considerably higher extracellular lipase activity when compared to other nitrogen sources; however, soy-peptone provided the highest extracellular esterase activity. Hazelnut, olive, sesame, soybean, and flax seed oils affected the enzyme activities to different extents related to their fatty acid compositions. Hazelnut oil and olive oil provided the highest extracellular lipase and esterase activities, respectively, whereas sesame oil produced the highest biomass. High C18 and C16 ester contents of vegetable oils promoted high lipase and esterase productions, respectively. A temperature of 30°C yielded the highest extracellular and intracellular lipase and esterase activities; however, 35°C produced the highest biomass.  相似文献

Objective

To investigate whether pain-related fears are mediators for reducing disability and pain in patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome type 1 when treating with Pain Exposure Physical Therapy.

Design

An explorative secondary analysis of a randomised controlled trial.

Participants

Fifty-six patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome type 1.

Interventions

The experimental group received Pain Exposure Physical Therapy in a maximum of five treatment sessions; the control group received conventional treatment following the Dutch multidisciplinary guideline.

Outcome measures

Levels of disability, pain, and pain-related fears (fear-avoidance beliefs, pain catastrophizing, and kinesiophobia) were measured at baseline and after 3, 6, and 9 months follow-up.

Results

The experimental group had a significantly larger decrease in disability of 7.77 points (95% CI 1.09 to 14.45) and in pain of 1.83 points (95% CI 0.44 to 3.23) over nine months than the control group. The potential mediators pain-related fears decreased significantly in both groups, but there were no significant differences between groups, which indicated that there was no mediation.

Conclusion

The reduction of pain-related fears was comparable in both groups. We found no indication that pain-related fears mediate the larger reduction of disability and pain in patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome type 1 treated with Pain Exposure Physical Therapy compared to conventional treatment.

The earliest component at the La Bolsa site in the Galisteo Basin of north-central New Mexico is an early manifestation of what is defined in this paper as the Quemado Phase of the proposed Rio Grande Complex. Relatively dated to about 7000 to 6000 years ago, this Proto-Archaic Phase is postulated to be ultimately rooted in the Agate Basin Complex of the northern Plains.  相似文献

Four novel 64Cu complexes ([64Cu(thp)4]+ (1), [64Cu(TPA)4]+ (2), [HC(CO2)(pzMe2)2 64Cu(thp)2] (3) and [HC(CO2)(tz)2 64Cu(thp)2] (4), [where thp is tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine, TPA is 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane, pzMe2 is 3,5-dimethylpyrazole and tz is 1,2,4-triazole] were successfully synthesized and characterized. The complexes were produced in high radiochemical purity and yield (more than 98%) without the need for further purification. Their logP values and serum stabilities were measured and in vitro behavior was observed in cultured EMT-6 cells. The logP values (± standard deviation) obtained were −2.26 ± 0.04 (1), 0.01 ± 0.01 (2), −1.24 ± 0.03 (3) and −2.06 ± 0.03 (4). Complex 3 demonstrated the highest serum stability, with approximately 33% of the complex still intact after 1-h incubation. Complex 2 showed a rapid cell-association with EMT-6 cells, with more than 8.5% association at 2 h. This association was significantly higher (P < 0.001) than for the other three compounds after a 2-h incubation (1, 1.21%; 3, 0.63%; 4, 2.75%). Biodistribution and small-animal positron emission tomography/computed tomography was undertaken with 1 in mice bearing EMT-6 tumors. EMT-6 tumor uptake was high at 1 h (7.71 ± 2.17 %ID/g) and decreased slowly over 24 h (4 h, 4.90 ± 0.78 %ID/g; 24 h, 3.74 ± 0.73 %ID/g). The PET/CT images show that the EMT-6 tumors can be visualized at all time points. In this proof-of-concept study, we have successfully synthesized and characterized a novel series of versatile water-soluble Cu(I) complexes containing monophosphine ligands. We also report the use of 1 as a building block for new radiopharmaceuticals, perhaps the first time such a method has been used in the production of copper radiopharmaceuticals.  相似文献

AimRadiation therapy (RT) is a standard therapeutic option for prostate cancer (PC). In the last decades, several innovative technology applications have been introduced. 3-Dimensional conformal RT, volumetric/rotational intensity modulated RT associated or not with image-guided RT, are becoming largely diffused in the treatment of PC.BackgroundConsidering that PC could have a low α/β ratio, similar to late-reacting normal tissues, it could also be highly responsive to fraction size. Thus, the reduction of the number of fractions and the increase of the dose/fraction seem to be reasonable choices in the treatment of this cancer. This review reported the technology evolution, the radiobiological and the clinical data about the role of extreme hypofractionated RT in the treatment approach of PC patients.Materials and methodsMedline search and analysis of published studies containing key words: prostate cancer, radiotherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy.ResultsRecent technological developments, combined with an improved knowledge of the radiobiological models in favor of a high sensitivity of PC to larger fraction sizes are opening a new scenario in its treatment, reporting favorable efficacy and acceptable toxicity, despite short follow-up.ConclusionThus, thanks to technological improvement and the recent radiobiological data, “extreme hypofractionated RT” has been strongly introduced in the last years as a potential solid treatment option for PC.  相似文献
