Summary Clinical and cytogenetic findings in an infant girl with multiple congenital anomalies, principally anophthalmia, are presented. Summary A 12-year-old boy with mental retardation and congenital anomalies was found to have a supernumerary small marker chromosome. This marker chromosome was proved to be bisatellited and dicentric by G-, C-, R-banding and the silverstaining technique.  相似文献

The locus for sorbitol dehydrogenase (SORD, E.C. 1.1.1.14) has been shown to segregate with hexosaminidase A and mannose phosphate isomerase in a series of human-Chinese hamster somatic cell hybrids. Cytogenetic analysis supports the assignment to chromosome 15 and further defines the gene locus to the region 15pterq21.This research was supported by the Medical Research Council of Canada (MT 4061), the Children's Hospital of Winnipeg Research Foundation, Inc., and the Department of Health, Province of Manitoba (H.S.W.).  相似文献

Summary A case report of a de novo deletion in the short arm of chromosome 7 is presented (46,XX,del(7)(p21pter)). The five-month-old girl's major symptoms are: trigonocephalus with craniosynostosis, median bony forehead bulge, high palate, atrial septal defect, anal atresia and perineal fistula, thumb insertion far to ulnar-proximal, and a slightly retarded psychomotor development. The other cases with monosomy 7p described in the literature are reviewed.  相似文献

Summary A male patient with an interstitial deletion 13q14q31 is described. Our necropsy findings included a left retinoblastoma and several gross internal malformations. In this paper we reaffirm that band 13q14 is involved in cases of retinoblastoma and we propose, after studying accompanying cases of total or partial long arm trisomies 13, that the loss of specific 13q bands, from 13q14 to 13q31 is responsible for the congenital defects we are describing.  相似文献

Summary Gene marker analyses have been carried out in a patient with 10q(q23qter) duplication. The observed elevation of red cell glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase activity is compatible with earlier somatic cell hybridization studies that mapped the locus to this region. Hexokinase-1 activity in the red cells was normal, which is consistent with its prior assignment to the unaffected part of chromosome 10 (10pterq23).  相似文献

Summary The von Willebrand factor pseudogene, previously mapped to chromosome 22, was sublocalized by in situ hybridization using as probe a von Willebrand factor cDNA fragment completely contained in the pseudogenic region. Chromosome spreads were from a patient carrying a unique balanced de novo translocation 46,X,t(X;22)(pter;q11.21). Silver grain analysis indicated that the human von Willebrand factor pseudogene is located on 22q11.22–q11.23, a region relevant for several somatic and constitutional chromosomal alterations.  相似文献

Summary Red cell triose-phosphate isomerase (TPI) was determined, together with other enzymes, in three patients with chromosome 12 abnormalities.In patient No. 1 (trisomy of the segment 12pter 12q12) and in patient No. 2 (trisomy of the segment 12pter 12p12.1), the TPI activity was significantly increased. In patient No. 3 (deletion of the segment 12p11 12p12.2), the TPI activity was in the normal range. Summary A 12-year-old girl was examined for growth retardation and a few very discrete dysmorphologic stigmata of Turner's syndrome; the genitalia were infantile yet both ovaries possessed functioning follicles. R- and C-banding techniques and Brdu treatment demonstrated a 45,X formula in 95% of lymphocytes, with 5% presenting a 46,X,dic(X) formula. Summary The XmnI genotype at the apolipoprotein A-I locus was heterozygous in a boy with partial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 11, del(11)(q23.3qter). Summary A woman balanced carrier of a X/15 translocation gave birth to a balanced infertile son and three unbalanced Xp- fertile daughters. This family and the other eleven cases of Xp- fertile women found in the literature demonstrate that loss of the p21 pter region of the X chromosome is compatible with fertility, probably because it leaves on Xp the region which is never inactivated.  相似文献

Summary Extracts of hamster-human and mouse-human hybrids, some with translocations involving chromosome 19, have been assayed for both human spleen ferritin (rich in L subunits) and human heart ferritin (rich in H subunits). Hybrid lines retaining part of the long arm of chromosome 19 including the region 19q13.319qter produced human L type ferritin. This confirms the previous assignment of the ferritin gene to chromosome 19 (Caskey et al. 1983). However, lines retaining chromosome 11 were found to contain human H type ferritin suggesting that the gene for the H subunit is on this chromosome. The presence of chromosome 6 was not necessary for the expression of either H or L type human ferritin. It thus seems unlikely that the gene for idiopathic haemochromatosis is a ferritin gene.  相似文献
