Spike activity pattern of 34 slow-adapting pulmonary receptors (SAR) was investigated in anesthetized cats during relaxed respiration and forced inhalation of CO2. It was found that approximately one half of the SAR investigated did not differ substantially from relaxed breathing and showed regular intensification in relation to lung stretch. The frequency-volume plot underwent a shift to the right (or else a steeper rise in frequency during inspiration) under these conditions in most of the other receptors. All test SAR showed a reduction in firing rate during exhalation. The pattern of frequency-volume relationship at lung volumes not exceeding respiratory volume was not disrupted. A reduction in firing rate occurred with respiration in all the SAR investigated. The summated spike train from SAR, characterized by averaged frequency of the latter's spike activity, showed a linear dependence on lung volume during both forced and relaxed respiration alike but frequency rose more sharply in the former. Reasons for the changed activity of test SAR during forced breathing are discussed together with possible consequences of these changes for reflex regulation of time phases during the respiratory cycle.A. In acute experiments on cats with closed chest by ultrasonic method the authors studied the blood flow in low-lobar pulmonary artery and the vein, the blood pressure in pulmonary artery, lung vessels resistance in experimental pulmonary edema caused by intravenous infusion of mixture fatty acids at artificial ventilation of increased frequencies or volumes, at was shown, that artificial ventilation of increased frequencies in pulmonary edema reduces the pressure increase in pulmonary artery, lung vessels resistance and increases the blood flow in pulmonary artery and vein. Artificial ventilation of increased volumes produces more intense pressure increase in pulmonary artery and lung vessels resistance than in initial ventilation but the blood flow was slightly changed. The authors assume that artificial ventilation of increased frequencies or volumes in pulmonary edema due to pulmonary circulation change reduces the pulmonary edema intensity at the beginning. 相似文献

To clarify the effects of respiration on left ventricular (LV) dimensions and shortening, we studied chronically instrumented dogs with endocardial sonomicrometer crystals in the anterior-posterior (AP), septal to lateral (SL), and long axes (LA) following pericardiectomy. Ten anesthetized dogs were examined during spontaneous unobstructed respiration, partial inspiratory obstruction (PIO), and Mueller maneuvers (MM). During unobstructed inspiration, end-diastolic dimensions (EDD) demonstrated a significant increase in the AP and a similar decrease in the SL axis (i.e., noncongruent shape changes). During PIO only the SL EDD diminished significantly, while no significant changes occurred in any EDD during MM. Individual dogs also demonstrated noncongruent shape changes at end systole during inspiration. However, the end-systolic dimensions for the entire group demonstrated a significant increase in one dimension during each inspiratory mode with no significant changes in the other two axes suggesting an increased ventricular volume. Regional shortening declined only in the SL axis during both unobstructed respiration and PIO. Spontaneous sighs with large tidal volumes, yet smaller changes in pleural pressure than during the MM, were associated with marked noncongruent shape changes in both diastole and systole. We conclude that 1) estimates of LV volumes during respiration based on only one or two axes and assuming regional congruent shape changes may be misleading; and 2) lung volume changes can affect LV geometry independently of changes in pleural pressure. 相似文献

Tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is a potent fibrinolytic enzyme used to treat acute coronary artery obstruction. However, tPA has shown limited utility in other disorders caused by thrombotic vascular occlusion, such as pulmonary embolism. We found that tPA caused dose-dependent effects on the contractility of pulmonary arterial rings that may affect its effectiveness as a thrombolytic agent. At low concentrations (1 nM), tPA stimulated pulmonary vascular contraction in response to phenylephrine, whereas at higher concentrations (20 nM) tPA inhibited pulmonary arterial contractility and promoted pulmonary vascular permeability through an interaction between its "docking site" and N-methyl d-aspartate receptor type 1 (NMDA-R1) expressed by pulmonary arteries. A hexapeptide derived from plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 that blocked the docking site of tPA, but not its catalytic activity, inhibited its interaction with NMDA-R1, abolished inhibition of pulmonary artery contractility, attenuated vascular permeability, and facilitated fibrinolysis in a murine model of pulmonary embolism. Similar outcomes were seen using a tPA variant that lacks the docking site but retains catalytic activity. These data suggest that it is feasible to attenuate the deleterious extrafibrinolytic effects of tPA and improve its benefit:risk profile in the management of pulmonary embolism. 相似文献
