The roles of glucagon and adrenal epinephrine in mediating bombesin-induced central hyperglycemia were further studied in anesthetized rats. Bombesin (10(-9) mol) injected into the third cerebral ventricle produced an increase in plasma concentrations of glucose, glucagon, and epinephrine. Prior bilateral adrenalectomy completely prevented the hyperglucagonemic and hyperglycemic responses to third cerebral ventricle injection of bombesin. These results support the view that bombesin-induced increases in plasma glucose and glucagon are fully dependent on adrenal epinephrine secretion. Furthermore, during constant intravenous infusion of somatostatin, the hyperglycemic response to third cerebral ventricle injection of bombesin was not significantly influenced despite complete inhibition of the increase in plasma glucagon. Therefore, it is suggested that bombesin-induced central hyperglycemia is mainly mediated by epinephrine itself rather than via epinephrine-stimulated glucagon secretion.  相似文献

Diazinon, an organophosphorous compound, produced hyperglycemia and reduced the glycogen content of the brain 2 h after its administration to rats (40 mg/kg, i.p.). The activities of the glycogenolytic enzymes, glycogen phosphorylase and phosphoglucomutase, were significantly increased, while that of glucose-6-phosphatase was not altered. Atropine (20 mg/kg, i.p.) given immediately after diazinon abolished the changes; tolazoline or propranolol (each at 10 mg/kg, i.p.) injected 30 min before the administration of diazinon significantly reduced the hyperglycemia and the increase in brain glycogenolysis. A combination of tolazoline and propranolol was more effective than either of them alone and completely abolished the hyperglycemia and the changes in brain glycogenolysis. It may be concluded that diazinon initially activates central cholinergic processes leading to hyperglycemia and increased cerebral glycogenolysis in animals.  相似文献

The action of epinephrine on Madin-Darby canine kidney cells   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We have used cultured monolayers of Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells, which form epithelial layers of high transepithelial resistance, grown on Millipore filters, for transport studies. In the absence of hormones net ion transport is of small magnitude and is consistent with a net absorptive flow (apical to basal) of Na+. Epinephrine, effective only from the basolateral cell surface, stimulates a net secretion (basal to apical) of Cl-. A substantial portion of net Cl- secretion is inhibited by loop diuretics such as furosemide applied to the basolateral cell aspects. The participation of a diuretic-sensitive cotransport system for Na+, K+, and Cl-, similar to that found in other cells, in transepithelial Cl- flux is postulated. The action of catecholamines on MDCK cell adenylate cyclase and on a Ca2+-activated K+ conductance is described.  相似文献

It was shown that 80% of tortoises survived on day 45 after gamma irradiation (60Co, 4.2.10(2) Gy) in conditions of long-term (6 h) anoxia, against 5% survived after irradiation in normal conditions. It is suggested that the modifying effect of ionizing radiation under anoxic conditions is mainly associated with the decreased rate of peroxidation processes in membrane phospholipids and the enhanced radioresistance background during the first decade following irradiation.  相似文献
