Validation of the 15‐day intact adult male rat screening assay (IAMRSA), an endocrine activity screen, was extended beyond the 28 substances evaluated to date. Two independent laboratories evaluated specificity using allyl alcohol (AA), a putative negative control, and DE‐71 (technical grade pentabromodiphenyl ether) for comparison with previous pubertal assays that demonstrated thyroid effects. Male rats (15/group) were gavaged daily with AA (0, 10, 30, or 40 mg/kg/day) or DE‐71 (0, 3, 30, or 60 mg/kg/day) for 15 days. Body and organ weights and serum hormone concentrations were measured, and a limited histopathological assessment was conducted. AA results were considered negative at doses that did not exceed the maximum tolerated dose (MTD); effects reported were dose‐related decreases in weight gain, increased liver weights and, although the pattern varied across studies, alterations in some androgen‐sensitive endpoints in the high‐dose where the maximum tolerated dose was exceeded. In the DE‐71 studies, dose‐dependent increases in liver weights (consistent with hepatic enzyme induction), decreases in tri‐iodothyronine and thyroxine, concomitant thyroid stimulating hormone increases were observed and one laboratory reported histopathological thyroid changes in mid‐ and high‐dose groups, and the other increased thyroid weights. For DE‐71, the IAMRSA was comparable in sensitivity to the pubertal assays. Overall, the specificity and sensitivity of the IAMRSA for deployment in an endocrine screening battery are supported. However, differentiating primary endocrine‐mediated effects from secondary effects caused by systemic toxicity will be challenging, emphasizing the need to utilize a battery of assays and a weight of evidence approach when evaluating the potential endocrine activity of chemicals.  相似文献

Body weight gain and shank-toe growth during a 26-day treatment period following hypophysectomy were 55 and 46%, respectively, of control values, but the body weight gain was unaffected and bone growth only slightly reduced when the hypophysectomized chickens were fed a low dose of corticosterone (5 ppm). Bovine growth hormone (0.5 mg GH/kg body wt/day for 18 days) enhanced body weight gain and shank-toe length increase (an estimate of bone growth) by 46 and 33%, respectively, compared to the growth of hypophysectomized chickens receiving only corticosterone. These same endpoints were increased approximately 24% after ovine growth hormone treatment in hypophysectomized chickens not receiving corticosterone. Body weight gain during 18 days of treatment with bovine prolactin (0.5 mg PRL/kg/day) was 27% greater than the value for corticosterone-treated hypophysectomized chickens, but bone growth was unaffected. The mammalian GH preparations increased heart weight of the hypophysectomized chickens (25-29%), but pectoralis muscle weight was unaffected. GH treatment enhanced thymal weights by 71% in corticosterone-treated hypophysectomized chickens, and by 93% in hypophysectomized animals not receiving corticosterone. GH had no significant effect on bursal weights, and PRL had no effect on either of these lymphoid organ weights in corticosterone-treated hypophysectomized chickens. GH increased liver and adipose tissue weights considerably more than the large increases that followed treatment of hypophysectomized chickens with corticosterone alone (69 and 126% greater, respectively), but had no effect on these endpoints in hypophysectomized chickens not receiving corticosterone. PRL also greatly increased liver and adipose tissue weights in corticosterone-treated hypophysectomized chickens (79 and 75%, respectively). These results provide evidence that mammalian GH enhances body weight gain, bone growth, and the growth of several organs in the hypophysectomized chicken. Mammalian PRL increased body weight gain, liver weight, and adipose tissue weight in corticosterone-treated hypophysectomized chickens, but did not influence bone growth or the weights of the heart, pectoralis, thymi, or bursa.  相似文献

Four daily injections of 20 mg ethamoxytriphetol, MER-25, to intact female rats with regular 4-day estrous cycles inhibited lordosis behavior, but had no inhibitory effect on mounting behavior. Ten mg/day of MER-25 for 9 days partially antagonized the stimulatory effect of 2 μg/day of estradiol benzoate on lordosis behavior in ovariectomized female rats, but had no inhibitory effect upon mounting behavior. MER-25 (10 mg/day for 9 days) stimulated the display of mounting behavior in ovariectomized female rats. No effects of MER-25 treatment (10 mg for 10 days) comparable to those of testosterone propionate (10, 50, or 250 μg for 10 days) on testicular, seminal vesicle, or ventral prostate weights of intact male rats or on seminal vesicle or ventral prostate weights of castrated male rats were observed. The results show that MER-25 acts differently upon various estrogen sensitive behaviors in the female rat.  相似文献

Previous work has shown that chronic treatment of intact, immature male rats with luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) decreases sex accessory gland weights and results in retardation of the normal developmental increase in the ratio of serum testosterone (T)/5 alpha-androstane-3 alpha,17 beta-diol (3 alpha-Diol) via an apparent enhancement of testicular 5 alpha-reductase or 3 alpha-hydroxysteroid oxidoreductase activities. In the present work, androgen dependent balano-preputial skinfold cleavage was significantly delayed by approximately one week in intact, immature male rats which were treated daily for two weeks with either 1.0 micrograms, 2.5 micrograms or 5.0 micrograms of LHRH during a discrete phase of pubertal development (28-41 days of age). In intact, adult (62 day old) animals which received LHRH treatments during pubertal development, serum T concentrations and sex accessory gland weights were reduced compared to control animal values. Serum 3 alpha-Diol content in the adult rats was either unaltered or increased significantly depending on the LHRH dosage employed during sexual development. Serum luteinizing hormone concentrations were not different between control and LHRH-pretreated adult rats whereas the highest dosage of LHRH employed (5.0 micrograms) during puberty resulted in a significant elevation of adult serum follicle stimulating hormone levels. It is suggested that chronic LHRH treatment of the male rat during puberty results in a perturbation in testicular androgen biosynthetic activities and an impairment of pituitary-testicular hormone feedback mechanisms which persist at least through early adulthood.  相似文献

Pregnant rats were injected ip with 6 mg/kg 6-aminonicotinamide (6-AN) at day 12 of gestation. Embryos removed between 1 and 48 h later had reduced adenosine triphosphate (ATP) concentrations, of about 50% of control values. All fetuses examined near term were malformed. Nicotinamide (NAM, 100 mg/kg) given ip 1 h after 6-AN afforded protection: malformations occurred in only 15% of the survivors; and there was minimal ATP reduction, 15% below control values. NAM given 2 and 4 h after 6-AN produced intermediate ATP concentrations and malformation frequencies. Thus, there was a relation between the embryotoxic and ATP-depressant actions of 6-AN in day 12 rat embryos.  相似文献

The relationships among microencephaly, peak blood alcohol concentration (BAC), and dose of alcohol were examined in a rat model of third-trimester fetal alcohol effects. Ethyl alcohol was administered to neonatal rats from postnatal day 4 to day 10 during the brain growth spurt via an artificial rearing technique. Groups of rats received one of nine doses of alcohol (0.0, 2.5, 3.3, 4.0, 4.5, 5.3, 6.6, 7.5, or 8.5 g/kg body weight) administered in 8 hours each day. BACs were determined on postnatal days 6 and 7 at times corresponding to peak and trough BACs, respectively. On postnatal day 10, brains were removed, and total brain weights, cerebellar weights and brainstem weights were measured. Pups receiving 4.0 g/kg/day or less had mean peak BACs below 150 mg/dl and did not exhibit significant microencephaly when compared with controls. Higher dosages further increased the peak BAC and produced significant microencephaly. While a dose of 4.5 g/kg/day was sufficient to decrease significantly both total brain weight and cerebellar weight, a minimum dose of 6.6 g/kg/day was required for significant restriction of brainstem weight. The dose of 7.5 g/kg/day yielded a mean peak BAC of 420 mg/dl and reduced total brain weight, cerebellar weight, and brainstem weight by 33%, 52%, and 22%, respectively, relative to controls. Exposure to 8.5 g/kg/day was uniformly lethal. Peak BAC and total brain weight were highly correlated (r = -.916). As peak BAC increased, total brain weight decreased linearly. Comparisons with previous studies indicate that condensing the daily dose of alcohol effectively reduced the threshold doses for microencephaly and lethality.  相似文献

Win 49596 is a new orally active, steroidal androgen receptor antagonist. Win 49596 inhibited ventral prostate, seminal vesicle and levator ani weight gain in either 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT) or testosterone propionate-treated castrated, immature male rats. In intact, adult male rats, Win 49596 significantly inhibited weight gain by the ventral prostate, dorsal lateral prostate and seminal vesicles, but not the testes at doses as low as 50 mg/kg/day x 14 p.o. However, daily oral administration of equivalent antiandrogenic doses of either Win 49596, ICI 176,334, or flutamide for 14 days to mature, intact male rats resulted in elevations of circulating testosterone of approximately 3-, 2-, and 10-fold, respectively. At doses as high as 400 mg/kg p.o., Win 49596 did not have androgenic, progestational, estrogenic or antiestrogenic activity in rat or rabbit models. However, in the Clauberg assay, Win 49596 did have weak antiprogestational activity at doses of 25-400 mg/kg/day p.o. These data indicate that Win 49596 is a peripherally selective antiandrogen that has minimal effects on circulating testosterone levels and is devoid of hormone agonist activity. Thus, Win 49596 may be useful for the treatment of androgen dependent conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostatic cancer.  相似文献

Atrazine (ATR) blunts the hormone‐induced luteinizing hormone (LH) surge, when administered by gavage (50–100 mg/kg/day for 4 days), in ovariectomized rats. In this study, we determined if comparable doses delivered either by gavage (bolus dose) or distributed in diet would reduce the LH surge and subsequently affect fertility in the intact female rat. ATR was administered daily to intact female Sprague‐Dawley (SD) or Long Evans (LE) rats by gavage (0, 0.75 1.5, 3, 6, 10, 12, 50, or 100 mg/kg/day) or diet (0, 30, 100, 160, 500, 660, or 1460 ppm) during one complete 4‐day estrous cycle, starting on day of estrus. Estrous status, corpora lutea, ova, and LH plasma concentrations were evaluated. A second cohort of animals was mated on the fourth treatment day. Fertility metrics were assessed on gestational day 20. A higher portion of LE rats had asynchronous estrous cycles when compared to SD rats both during pretreatment and in response to ATR (≥50 mg/kg). In contrast, bolus doses of ATR (≥50 mg/kg) inhibited the peak and area under the curve for the preovulatory LH surge in SD but not LE animals. Likewise, only bolus‐treated SD, not LE, rats displayed reduced mean number of corpora lutea and ova. There were no effects of ATR administered by gavage on mating, gravid number, or fetus number. Dietary administration had no effect on any reproductive parameter measured. These findings indicate that short duration, high‐bolus doses of ATR can inhibit the LH surge and reduce the number of follicles ovulated; however, dietary administration has no effect on any endocrine or reproductive outcomes  相似文献

The effect of aminoguanidine (a selective inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase) on allyl alcohol-induced liver injury was assessed by the measurement of serum ALT and AST activities and histopathological examination. When aminoguanidine (50-300 mg/kg, i.p.) was administered to mice 30 min before a toxic dose of allyl alcohol (75 microL/kg, i.p.), significant changes related to liver injury were observed. In the presence of aminoguanidine the level of ALT and AST enzymes were significantly decreased. All symptoms of liver necrosis produced by allyl alcohol toxicity almost completely disappeared when animals were pretreated with aminoguanidine at 300 mg/kg. Depletion of hepatic glutathione as a consequence of allyl alcohol metabolism was minimal in mice pretreated with aminoguanidine at 300 mg/kg. It was found that the inhibition of toxicity was not due to alteration in allyl alcohol metabolism since aminoguanidine did not effect alcohol dehydrogenase activity both in vivo and in vitro.  相似文献

Insulin causes the release of the hepatic insulin-sensitizing substance (HISS) from the liver. Hepatic parasympathetic nerves play a permissive role in the release of HISS. HISS-dependent insulin resistance (HDIR) occurs in the absence of HISS. Fetal ethanol exposure has been shown to cause dose-dependent HDIR in adult male rat offspring. Since female offspring are more severely affected by in utero ethanol toxicity, we hypothesized that fetal alcohol exposure causes higher incidence and more severe HDIR in adult female offspring. Adult female rat offspring prenatally exposed to different concentrations of ethanol (0%, 15%, and 20%) were tested for insulin sensitivity using the rapid insulin sensitivity test (RIST). The RIST index was significantly reduced in the 15% (134.1 +/- 16.1 mg/kg) and the 20% (98.7 +/- 9.7 mg/kg) group compared with the 0% (220.9 +/- 27.6 mg/kg) group. Administration of atropine produced significant additional HDIR in the 15% group (82.9 +/- 14.5 mg/kg) but not the 20% group (83.8 +/- 20.5 mg/kg) indicating complete HDIR had been produced in this group, contrary to the adult male offspring in a previous study. The results are consistent with the hypothesis that adult-female offspring are more severely affected by in utero ethanol exposure compared with adult-male offspring.  相似文献

The effect of 14 natural and synthetic naphthoquinones in the replication of Toxoplasma gondii was evaluated. In vitro studies were accomplished in cultures of 2C4 fibroblasts infected with RH-strain. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to quantify parasite growth. For the studies in vivo, mice were infected with tachyzoites of the RH strain or cysts of the T. gondii EGS strain. In vitro, seven naphthoquinones demonstrated significant inhibition of intracellular T. gondii growth at concentrations of 1 and 5 micrograms/ml. Only three compounds were significantly protective when tested in animals: 2-hydroxy-3'-(3'-pentenyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone (PHNQ4), 2-hydroxy-3-(1'-vinylphenyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone (PHNQ5), and 2-hydroxy-3-(1'-propen-3'-phenyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone (PHNQ6). In animals infected with the EGS strain and treated with PHNQ4 (50 mg/kg/day orally), a 7-day prolongation of the time to death was observed. Treatment with 100 mg/kg/day orally or 50 mg/kg/day i.p. of PHNQ5 resulted in a 5-day and 16-day prolongation of the time to death, respectively. Treatment with 50 mg/kg/day orally or 50 mg/kg/day i.p. of PHNQ6 resulted in a 4-day prolongation of the time to death or up to 30 days after treatment, respectively. Our results suggest that the naphthoquinones may be important therapeutic agents for the treatment of toxoplasmosis.  相似文献

The release of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical hormones was studied in intact and neutered gray wolves (Canis lupus) to determine how these hormones interact and affect reproductive hormones. Experiments were performed on adult wolves anesthetized with 400 mg ketamine and 50 mg promazine. Intravenous (i.v.) injections with 50 micrograms ovine corticotropin releasing factor (oCRF) significantly increased adrenocorticotropin (ACTH; P < or = 0.01), cortisol (CORT; P < or = 0.004), and progesterone (P < or = 0.036), but not beta-endorphin (P > or = 0.52). Since neutered wolves demonstrated dose-dependent elevations in response to ACTH, it was concluded that the progesterone was secreted from the adrenal gland. Basal luteinizing hormone (LH) concentrations in neutered wolves were similar before and 60 min after i.v. injection of 1, 5, or 25 IU ACTH (P > or = 0.36) or 2.2 mg/kg cortisol (P = 0.42). Neither 25 IU ACTH (P = 0.55) nor 0.22 mg/kg dexamethasone (P = 0.49) altered the LH response to injection of LH releasing hormone in neutered wolves. Chronic administration of 0.22 mg/kg/day dexamethasone for 3 d did not alter baseline LH concentrations (P = 0.75). Injection of 1.0 mg/kg naloxone (NAL), however, increased LH concentrations relative to baseline values in both intact (P = 0.032) and neutered (P = 0.0005) female wolves, but not in intact (P = 0.19) or neutered males (P = 0.07). These results indicated that in gray wolves (1) oCRF stimulated the release of pituitary and adrenal hormones in a fashion similar to that of other mammals; (2) the adrenal cortex was capable of secreting progesterone into the systemic circulation; (3) exogenous glucocorticoids did not alter LH concentrations; and (4) endogenous opioids may modulate LH secretion in female wolves.  相似文献

Various doses (0, 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 mg/kg) of methylazoxymethanol acetate (MAM), a potent alkylating agent, were injected singly into pregnant rats intraperitoneally on day 15 of gestation. Relationships between brain weights and neurochemical changes in the cerebral hemispheres (CHs; cerebral cortex and subjacent white matter, hippocampus, amygdala) and remainder of the brain (BGDM; basal ganglia, diencephalon, and mesencephalon) were examined at 60 days of age in offspring; varying degrees of microencephaly were observed. Dose-dependent reductions in the weights of CH and BGDM were observed. Reductions in total DNA content positively correlated with decreases in brain weights also observed. Dose-dependent elevations of noradrenaline (NA) and dopamine (DA) were observed in CH at MAM levels 10 mg/kg and above; dose-dependent elevations of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) were observed at 15 mg/kg and above; and in BGDM at 20 mg/kg and above dose-dependent elevations for NA and 5-HT were observed; dose-dependent elevations at 15 mg/kg and above were observed for DA. Monoamine concentrations were negatively correlated with brain weights or total DNA contents. NA and DA concentrations increased to the extent of approximately 1.3 times of control at a time when an 18% loss of CH weight was noted in animals treated with 10 mg/kg MAM. It is suggested that the above variables might be appropriately sensitive neurochemical markers for detecting minor developmental anomalies in the brain.  相似文献

These studies evaluated the teratogenic potential of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), a naturally occurring plant hormone, in CF-1 mice and Sprague-Dawley rats. Mice were given 5, 50, 200, or 500 mg IAA/kg/day by gavage on days 7 through 15 of gestation. Rats were given 50, 200, or 500 mg IAA/kg/day by gavage on days 7 through 15 of gestation. IAA was teratogenic in mice and rats at 500 mg/kg/day; cleft palate was induced in both species at this dose level. In mice, other malformations including exencephaly, ablepharia, dilated cerebral ventricles, and crooked tail were also observed. Mice given 500 mg/kg of IAA gained less than control mice during gestation; no evidence of maternal toxicity was observed in rats. IAA did not cause fetal resorptions in either species and was not teratogenic at dose levels below 500 mg/kg.  相似文献

Norfloxacin, a new orally active antibiotic, was investigated in cynomolgus monkeys for potential developmental toxicity. Fifty-seven monkeys were administered a control vehicle or norfloxacin by nasogastric gavage during the major period of organogenesis on gestational days (GD) 21 through 50 at doses of 0, 50, 100, 150, or 200/300 mg/kg/day. There was no evidence of teratogenicity at any dose level. Maternotoxicity and a significant increase in embryolethality occurred following doses of 200/300 mg/kg/day. The maternotoxicity was not expected based on range-finding studies in nonpregnant female monkeys, which showed no signs of toxicity in doses up to 500 mg/kg/day. Additional studies were conducted to determine if norfloxacin caused similar toxicity later in gestation. Forty-six pregnant monkeys were dosed with a control vehicle or 200 mg/kg/day norfloxacin for one of three 10-day periods on GD 36-45, 71-80, or 111-120. There were no maternotoxic, embryotoxic, or fetotoxic effects observed. Plasma concentrations of norfloxacin in five cynomolgus monkeys following 50 and 200 mg/kg oral doses were not dose-proportionate. However, at a given dose, administered in cross-over fashion, plasma concentrations of norfloxacin were higher in nonpregnant females (approximately 20-40%) than during pregnancy when the same subject was compared. At the no-observed-effect dose for maternal and embryotoxicity (50 mg/kg), peak plasma concentrations of norfloxacin in pregnant cynomolgus monkeys are approximately threefold higher than those observed in human volunteers receiving norfloxacin at the maximum recommended therapeutic dose of 400 mg (5.7 mg/kg based on 70 kg body weight) twice per day.  相似文献

Leptin, a hormone secreted by the adipocytes and involved in feeding and energy balance control, has been proposed to modulate alcohol craving in mice and humans. This study evaluated whether leptin modulates alcohol intake in Marchigian Sardinian alcohol-preferring (msP) rats. Rats were offered 10% ethanol either 2h per day at the beginning of dark period of the 12:12h light/dark cycle, or 24h per day. Leptin was injected into the lateral ventricle (LV), the third ventricle (3V), or intraperitoneally (IP) once a day, 1h before the onset of the dark period. Neither acute nor chronic (9 days) leptin injections (1 or 8microg per rat) into the LV or 3V modified ethanol intake in male msP rats, offered ethanol 2h per day. Chronic LV injection of leptin (8 or 32 microg per rat in male rats and 8 or 16 microg per rat in female rats for 7 days), or chronic IP injections of leptin (1mg/kg in male rats for 5 days) failed to modify the intake of ethanol, offered 24h per day. Finally, chronic LV leptin injections (8 or 32 microg per rat for 12 days) did not modify ethanol intake in male msP rats, adapted to ad libitum access to ethanol and then tested after a 6-day period of ethanol deprivation. In contrast, in most of these conditions leptin significantly reduced food intake. These data do not support a role for leptin in alcohol intake, preference, or craving in msP rats.  相似文献

The present study was designed to improve the dispersed adrenal cell technique for determining adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) concentrations in small amounts of rat plasma. Priming with ACTH, incubation with methyl-isobutylxanthine, or dexamethasone pre-treatment were employed as modifications. Of these, only dexamethasone pre-treatment increased the sensitivity of the assay. The adrenal fragments obtained from 10-12 adult male rats pre-treated with dexamethasone (100 micrograms/kg B.W.) one hour before sacrifice, were digested with collagenase and deoxyribonuclease solution for 30 minutes. The dispersed cells were collected by centrifugation and resuspended in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer containing 0.2% glucose and 0.5% bovine serum albumin. Aliquots of cell suspension (3-4 X 10(4)/tube) were incubated with various doses of ACTH1-24 or the eluate of plasma samples at 37 degrees C for 2 hours in an atmosphere of 95% O2/5% CO2 in a Dubnoff shaker. The quantity of corticosterone produced was measured fluorimetrically. The assay is precise (lambda = 0.06), extremely sensitive (10 fg/tube), and convenient. One skilled technician can handle 15 to 20 plasma samples per day using 10 rats as the source of assay cells. ACTH can be measured in as little as 10-50 microliters of eluate.  相似文献

Dichloroacetic acid (DCA) is a principal by-product of the chlorine disinfection of water containing humic and fulvic acids, and is also a drug of interest in the therapeutic management of metabolic disorders. The developmental effects of DCA were evaluated in the pregnant Long-Evans rat. In two separate studies, animals were dosed by oral intubation on gestation days 6-15 (plug = 0) with 0, 900, 1,400, 1,900 or 2,400 mg/kg/day and 0, 14, 140, or 400 mg/kg/day. The vehicle control was distilled water. Maternal observations included clinical signs, weight change, and gross evaluation of organ weights and uterine contents at necropsy (day 20). Corpora lutea were counted and uteri stained for implantation sites. Live fetuses were examined for external, skeletal, and soft tissue malformations. Seven dams died during treatment (1,400 mg 1/19, 1,900 mg 2/19, 2,400 mg 4/21), and maternal weight gain was reduced at all except the lowest treatment levels. Liver, spleen, and kidney weights increased in a dose-related manner. The mean percentage of resorbed implants per litter was significantly elevated at greater than or equal to 900 mg/kg/day. Live fetuses showed dose-dependent reductions in weight and length at doses above 140 mg/kg. Statistically significant frequencies of soft tissue malformations ranged from 2.6% (140 mg/kg) to 73% (2,400 mg/kg). These were principally in the cardiovascular system and predominantly comprised defects between the ascending aorta and the right ventricle. The effects of 40, 50, and 60 mg/kg streptozotocin (SZ) on the body weights and the glucose concentration and the osmolarity of the serum of adult rats were determined. Serum prepared from these SZ-dosed rats was used in embryo culture experiments to investigate effects of diabetic serum on rat embryos during organogenesis. The diabetic serum resulting from each of the tested doses of SZ was teratogenic to 9.5-day rat explants (embryos and their membranes), causing a range of dysmorphic lesions including craniofacial defects, heart defects, and abnormalities of the branchial arches and the otic capsules. Explants cultured in serum prepared from rats dosed with 60 mg/kg SZ also showed abnormal morphology of both the visceral yolk sac and the embryonic blood cells in the yolk sac capillaries. The development of explants repeatedly transferred between control and diabetic serum indicated that the severity of the dysmorphic effect was dependent on the duration of exposure to diabetic serum. The alternation of sera did not in itself appear to be damaging to the embryos. Explants cultured in control serum, control serum with its glucose concentration increased to that of the diabetic serum, or diabetic serum all took up the same amount of glucose from their culture medium; 30% of the embryos from the diabetic serum were abnormal compared to only 4% from the control serum and the control serum plus glucose.  相似文献
