The ant genus Meranoplus is reported for the first time from the Arabian Peninsula (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) by the new species M. pulcher sp. n., based on the worker caste. Specimens were collected from Al Sarawat and Asir Mountains of southwestern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using pitfall traps. Meranoplus pulcher sp. n. is included in the Afrotropical M. magretii-group, with greatest similarity to M. magrettii André from Sudan. A key to the Afrotropical species of the M. magretii-group is presented. A brief review of the ant taxa with Afrotropical affinities in southwestern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is given.  相似文献

The genus Thinempis (Diptera: Empididae) is newly described and includes six species, four from Australia – T.austera sp.n., T.esperance sp.n., T.minuta sp.n., and T.turimetta sp.n., and two from New Zealand – T.otakouensis (Miller) comb.n., and T.takaka sp.n. It occurs in coastal habitats and is defined by a unique synapomorphy, a modified triangular female oviscapt (tergum 10). However, the genus shows variable expression in characters considered to be of higher taxonomic importance in the Empidinae. The tribes Hilarini and Empidini are discussed and redefined.  相似文献

The sparetus-group of Entedon is revised. Six species are recognized for the group, including one new species, E. lucasi Gumovsky sp. n., which is described from Algeria. All species are either diagnosed or described, and illustrated, and new distribution records are provided. An illustrated dichotomous key to all species of the group is given. Biology of two species, E. thomsonianus Erd?s and E. sparetus Walker, is studied in detail: both species proved to be egg-larval parasitoids of stem-boring weevils, Lixus cardui Olivier on the scotch thistle Onopordum acanthium and Gymnetron asellus (Gravenhorst) on mullein Verbascum sp., respectively. The morphology of larval stages and peculiarities of parasitoid-host relationships are described. Possible benefits of egg-larval parasitism for Entedon species are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract. Eurysphindus LeConte is revised and redescribed, Genisphindus gen.n. is described and a key to the species is given for each. Four new species of Eurysphindus are described: E.comatulus sp.n., E.grandiclaviger sp.n., E.halli sp.n. and E.infuscus sp.n. Eurysphindus brasiliensis Sen Gupta & Crowson, Eurysphindus plaumanni Sen Gupta & Crowson and Eurysphindus hirtus LeConte are redescribed. Four species of Genisphindus are described: G.latisternus sp.n., G.minor sp.n., G.rotundus sp.n. and G.roxanneae sp.n. Eurysphindus laevicollis Sen Gupta & Crowson is reassigned to Genisphindus. A tentative hypothesis of the phylogenetic relationships of sphindid genera is presented based on a cladistic analysis. A classification derived from the phylogenetic hypothesis is proposed and compared with that of Sen Gupta & Crowson (1977). A generic key to adult Sphindidae is provided. Known distributions for the genera of sphindids are considered in light of the phylogenetic hypothesis and various interpretations are proposed.  相似文献

Abstract. The world species of anthomyiid cone and seed pests are revised. A new genus, Strobilomyia gen.n., is erected for the eighteen species, including seven new to science, presently recognized. Author's views on homologies in the male and female terminalia of Anthomyiidae and other Diptera Cyclorrhapha are amplified as background for the terminology employed. The monophyly and systematic position of Strobilomyia are discussed with reassessions of related genera: Lasiomma Stein, Chirosia Rondani, Egle Robineau-Desvoidy and Acklandia Hennig. Zoogeographic aspects, especially vicariance across the Beringia, are analysed from a partial hypothesis of phylogenetic relationships among the species of Strobilomyia in conjunction with paleo-environmental data. New generic synonyms are: Macrophorbia Malloch, Crinurina Karl, Si-nohylemya Hsue (all =Lasiomma); Acrostilpna Ringdahl, Shakshainia Suwa, Meliniella Suwa (all =Chirosia). The species recognized in Strobilomyia (with geographic range and host trees in parentheses) are: anthracina (Czerny) (Palearctic, Picea); neanthracina sp.n. (Nearctic, Picea and ITsuga); appalachensis sp.n. (E. Nearctic); melania (Ackland) (Europe, Larix); sibirica sp.n. (N.E. Europe, Siberia, Larix); viaria (Huckett) (E. Palearctic, Nearctic, Larix); infrequens (Ackland) (Palearctic, Larix); luteoforceps (Fan & Fang) (E. Palearctic, Larix); baicalensis (Elberg) (E. Palearctic, Larix); laricicola (Karl) (Palearctic, Larix); laricis sp.n. (Nearctic, Larix); macalpinei sp.n. (W. Canada, Larix); carbonaria (Ringdahl) (C. Europe, E. Nearctic, Abies); svenssoni sp.n. (N. Europe, Mongolia); suwai sp.n. (Japan); todocola (Suwa) (Japan, Abies); abietis (Huckett) (Nearctic, Abies); and oriens (Suwa) (E. Palearctic, Abies).  相似文献

Abstract. The thirteen species of Agabus Leach, 1817, of the Afrotropical Region are revised and classified into four species groups: the dibasic ambulator -group endemic to Ethiopia, ragazzii -group with five species in Ethiopia, raffrayi -group with five species in East and South Africa, and A.discicollis Ancey, 1882, endemic to Ethiopia, is placed in the Nearctic cordatus -group. Agabus perssoni sp.n. and Agabus galamensis sp.n. are described from the highlands of Ethiopia. Agabus ruwenzoricus Guignot, 1936, stat.n. is given specific rank. Agabus ferrugatus Régimbart, 1905, is synonymized with Agabus ragazzii Régimbart, 1887, and Agabus limbicollis Régimbart, 1905, is synonymized with Agabus raffrayi Sharp, 1882, syn.n. Lectotypes are designated for the following nominal species: Agabus discicollis Ancey, 1882, Agabus raffrayi Sharp, 1882, Agabus limbicollis Régimbart, 1905, Agabus pallidus Omer-Cooper, 1931, Agabus ruwenzoricus Guignot, 1936, Agabus sjostedti Régimbart, 1908, Agabus dytiscoides Régimbart, 1908, Agabus ragazzii Régimbart, 1887, Agabus ferrugatus Régimbart, 1905, and Gaurodytes abessinicus Zimmermann, 1928. Reconstructed phylogenies are presented for the raffrayi -and ragazzii -groups. The following adaptations to tropicoalpine habitats are suggested: (1) body and especially pronotum narrow, (2) head broad anteriorly, (3) hindwing small, and (4) hind leg long and slender. Biogeography and evolution of the studied species are discussed. Four different invasions of Holarctic lineages to the East African mountains are suggested. Recurrent periods of cold and dry climate are considered the chief driving force in the evolution of high altitude super specialists.  相似文献

In this paper, twelve insidiosus-group species of the genus Metaphycus Mercet from China are reviewed. Five species, M. corniae sp. n., M. cylindricus sp. n., M. deltoideus sp. n., M. transversus sp. n. and M. yaanensis sp. n., are described as new to science. A key to the females of these species is given to facilitate species recognition. Photomicrographs are provided to illustrate morphological characters of these species. All specimens, unless otherwise specified, are deposited in the National Zoological Museum of China, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.  相似文献

Seven new species of umagillid turbellarians from the intestine of aspidochirote holothurians of the Great Barrier Reef are described: Cleistogamia heronensis sp.n., C. longicirrus sp.n., C. pulchra sp.n., C. pallii sp.n., C. pyriformis sp.n. and Wahlia stichopi sp.n. as well as Paranotothrix queenslandensis gen.n. sp.n. The new genus is recognized as distinct from Notothrix Hickman, 1955 because the female system lacks a bursal valve, a significant characteristic within the Umagillidae. Examination of this and other characteristics of the family reveal that the division of the family by Stunkard & Corliss in 1950 into the sub-families Collastominae Wahl, 1910, Bicladinae Stunkard & Corliss, 1950 and Umagillinae Wahl, 1910 is supported; further, within the Umagillinae, four subgroups may be recognized: within holothurians are ( i ) the Cleistogamia group with a secondary uterus, within this group Ozametra elegans and O. striata are placed in Seritia gen.n. differing from Ozametra by the presence of both a bursal valve and a cuticular stylet, ( ii ) the Anoplodium group with a single ovary and a muscular (not cuticular) male intromittent organ and ( iii ) the Umagilla group in which Monticellina longitubu becomes a junior synonym of U. forskalensis; within echinoids ( iv ) the Syndesmis group in which Syndisyrinx is recognized a valid genus for those worms with a bursal valve and Syndesmis for those lacking this structure. Marcusella is suppressed. A visual key based upon presumed primitive and derived states is given as is a full host check list of the Umagillidae.  相似文献

The subgenus Neosynaptops Voss of Euops Schoenherr is revised. It contains two previously described species, E. cupreosplendens Macleay and E. viridiceps Voss, plus seven new ones: E. doertheae sp. n., E. gladiator sp. n., E. paraviridiceps sp. n., E. punctaticeps sp. n., E. similis sp. n., E. waigeoensis sp. n. and E. wapogae sp. n. A lectotype is designated for E. viridiceps Voss. The species are described and the characters relevant for their identification, especially the male genitalia, are illustrated. A key to the species is provided. Three distinct types of proventriculi found in species of Neosynaptops are illustrated. A cladistic analysis is performed which confirms the monophyly of Neosynaptops . The most important apomorphies are the punctate-rugose sculpture of the gena and the longitudinal costae on the ventral surface of the rostral base. The group is restricted to New Guinea and some small neighbouring islands.  相似文献

The taxonomy of the European members of Cassagnaudiella and Bourletiella (Collembola, Symphypleona, Bourletiellidae) is reviewed. The subgenus Cassagnaudiella Ellis, 197.5 is raised to generic rank with a new definition. Specimens earlier considered to represent a transformed form of Bourletiella radula Gisin, 1946 are referred to Cassagnaudiella , and the application of 'phenotypic neutralization' within the group is Considered erroneous. Four Bourletiella species and six Cassagnaudiella species are described, five of the latter which are new: C. cœnigouensis sp. n., C. luteovernalis sp. n., C. cadiensis sp. n., C. canigouensis sp. n., and C. trichroma sp. n., A key to species is provided.  相似文献

Twelve species of the genus Aulacorthum Mordvilko 1914 (Sternorrhyncha: Aphididae) are recognized from the Korean Peninsula. One new species, Aulacorthum ixeridis n. sp., is described for apterous and alate viviparous females on Ixeris chinensis var. graminifolia (Ledeb.) H. C. Fu and Lactuca indica L. (Asteraceae). From the allied species, Aulacorthum nepetifolii Miyazaki 1968, Aulacorthum ixeridis n. sp. is distinguished by the relatively short ultimate rostral segment (0.83–1.07 × as long as the second segment hind tarsus), the dense spinules on head and the triangular short cauda. Host plants of the Korean Aulacorthum are reviewed and the identification key to subgenera and species is also presented.  相似文献
