This work reports the photoluminescence properties of Ca3Mg3(PO4)4:Sm3+ phosphors that were synthesized by the combustion method. The phase formation and morphology of the prepared phosphors were analysed by X‐ray diffraction studies and scanning electron microscopy. Ca3Mg3(PO4)4:Sm3+ phosphors give orange light emission when excited by near‐ultraviolet (NUV) and blue light. The photoluminescence characteristics of the as‐prepared phosphors were investigated and their emission spectra showed three peaks due to 4G5/2 → 6H5/2, 4G5/2 → 6H7/2 and 4G5/2 → 6H9/2 transitions. The mechanism responsible for the concentration quenching of luminescence was found to be an electric dipole–dipole interaction. The CIE chromaticity coordinates suggested that the prepared phosphors are potential candidates for orange light‐emitting diodes (LEDs).  相似文献

Photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) properties of rare earth (RE) ion (RE = Dy3+, Sm3+, Ce3+, Tb3+) activated microcrystalline BaMgP2O7 phosphors are presented in this work. Non‐doped and doped samples of BaMgP2O7 were prepared using a solid state diffusion method and characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), PL and TL. The XRD measurement confirmed the phase purity of the BaMgP2O7 host matrix. The average particle size was found through SEM measurement to be around 2 μm. All activators using the PL technique displayed characteristic excitation and emission spectra that corresponded to their typical f → f and f → d transitions respectively. Thermoluminescence measurements showed that BaMgP2O7:RE (RE = Dy3+, Sm3+, Tb3+, Ce3+) and co‐doped BaMgP2O7:Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors have also TL behaviour.  相似文献

Modified synthesis and luminescence of Y2BaZnO5 phosphors activated with the rare earths (RE) Eu3+, Tb3+, Pr3+ and Sm3+ are reported. RE2BaZnO5 phosphors have attracted attention because of their interesting magnetic and optical properties; and are usually prepared using a two‐step solid‐state reaction. In the first step, carbonates or similar precursors are thoroughly mixed and heated at 900°C to decompose them to oxides. To eliminate the unwanted phases like BaRE2O4, the resulting powders are reheated at 1100°C for a long time. We prepared Y2BaZnO5 phosphors activated with various activators by replacing the first step with combustion synthesis. The photoluminescence results are presented. The photoluminescence results for Eu3+, Tb3+ and Pr3+ are in good agreement with the literature. However, photoluminescence emission from Sm3+ has not been documented previously. The excitation spectrum of Eu3+ is dominated by a charge transfer band around 261 nm, and an additional band around 238 nm is always present, irrespective of the type of activator. The presence of this band for all these different types of activators was interpreted as host absorption.  相似文献

Lanthanide‐based phosphors have been extensively investigated for their possible applications in solid‐state lighting technologies especially for white‐light‐emitting diodes. In this review article emphasis has been laid on discussing the recent developments of phosphors for warm white‐light production based on various optical characteristics such as quantum efficiency, thermal stability, short emission decay time, long‐term stability, facile synthesis, and low cost of production. We have tried to cover the essential and latest discoveries of the lanthanide/rare earth‐doped phosphors after 2010. New generations of narrow‐band phosphors have also been included. The optical and material properties of several novel phosphors and their luminescence characteristics have been thoroughly discussed.  相似文献

A series of Sm3+‐activated Sr3La(VO4)3 phosphors were synthesized by a facile sol‐gel method. X‐ray diffraction patterns and photoluminescence (PL)/cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra as well as PL decay curves were employed to characterize the obtained samples. Upon 402 nm light excitation, the characteristic emissions of Sm3+ ions corresponding to 4G5/26HJ transitions were observed in all the as‐prepared products. The PL emission intensity was increased with increase in Sm3+ ion concentration, while concentration quenching occurred when the doping concentration was over 4 mol%. The non‐radiative energy transfer mechanism for concentration quenching of Sm3+ ions was dominated by dipole–dipole interaction and the critical distance was around 21.59 Å. Furthermore, temperature‐dependent PL emission spectra revealed that the obtained phosphors possessed good thermal stability with an activation energy of 0.19 eV. In addition, the CL spectra of the samples were almost the same as the PL spectra, and the CL emission intensity showed a tendency to increase with increase in accelerating voltage and filament current. These results suggest that the Sm3+‐activated Sr3La(VO4)3 phosphors with good color coordinates, high color purity and superior thermal stability may be a potential candidate for applications in white light‐emitting diodes and field‐emission displays as red‐emitting phosphors.  相似文献

In this paper, the photoluminescence properties of Eu2+‐activated greenish‐blue‐emitting halophosphate phosphor Na5Ca4(PO4)4F were studied to estimate electron–vibrational interaction (EVI) parameters such as the Huang–Rhys factor, effective phonon energy, Stokes shift and zero phonon line (ZPL) position for various concentrations of dopant. The validity of the results was established by modeling the emission spectra, which was found to be in good agreement with the experimental photoluminescence spectra. In the present study, Na3(SO4)X (X = F or Cl) halosulphate phosphors have been synthesized by the solid‐state diffusion method. The phase formation of the compounds Na3(SO4)F and Na3(SO4)Cl were confirmed by X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurement. Photoluminescence (PL) excitation spectrum measurement of Na3(SO4)F:Ce3+ and Na3(SO4)Cl:Ce3+ shows this phosphor can be efficiently excited by near‐ultraviolet (UV) light and presents a dominant luminescence band centred at 341 nm for Ce3+, which is responsible for energy transfer to Dy3+and Mn2+ ions. The efficient Ce3+ → Dy3+ energy transfer in Na3(SO4)F and Na3(SO4)Cl under UV wavelength was observed due to 4 F9/2 to 6H15/2 and 6H13/2 level, while Ce3+ → Mn2+ was observed due to 4 T1 state to 6A1. The purpose of the present study is to develop and understanding the photoluminescence properties of Ce3+‐, Dy3+‐ and Mn2+‐doped fluoride and chloride Na3(SO4)X (X = F or Cl) luminescent material, which can be the efficient phosphors in many applications, such as scintillation applications, TL dosimetry and the lamp industry, etc. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Optical fibers have recently attracted a noticeable interest for biomedical applications because they provide a minimally invasive method for in vivo sensing, imaging techniques, deep‐tissue photodynamic therapy or optogenetics. The silica optical fibers are the most commonly used because they offer excellent optical properties, and they are readily available at a reasonable price. The fused silica is a biocompatible material, but it is not bioresorbable so it does not decompose in the body and the fibers must be ex‐planted after in vivo use and their fragments can present a considerable risk to the patient when the fiber breaks. In contrast, optical fibers made of phosphate glasses can bring many benefits because such glasses exhibit good transparency in ultraviolet‐visible and near‐infrared regions, and their solubility in water can be tailored by changing the chemical composition. The bioresorbability and toxicity of phosphate glass–based optical fibers were tested in vivo on male laboratory rats for the first time. The fiber was spliced together with a standard graded‐index multi‐mode fiber pigtail and an optical probe for in vitro pH measurement was prepared by the immobilization of a fluorescent dye on the fiber tip by a sol‐gel method to demonstrate applicability and compatibility of the fiber with common fiber optics.   相似文献

A diphenyl quinoline (DPQ)‐conjugated derivative and bromine‐activated DPQ (Br‐DPQ) were synthesized in an inert gas atmosphere at 140 °C using Friedlander condensation. The compounds showed blue emission under a UV source. The structures were characterized by X‐ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The photoluminescence properties of the compounds were analysed using excitation and emission spectra. The synthesized organic phosphors shows bright emission in the blue region, with peaks at 445 and 453 nm, respectively, for DPQ and Br‐DPQ in the powder form. The physical and photoluminescence properties of these organic compounds reveal promising blue emitters for high‐efficiency organic light‐emitting diodes. Europium ion (Eu2+) doped Sr2SiO4 phosphors with greenish‐yellow emission were synthesized using microwave‐assisted sintering. The phase structure and photoluminescence (PL) properties of the obtained phosphor samples were investigated. The PL excitation spectra of the Sr2SiO4:Eu2+ phosphors exhibited a broad band in the range of 260 nm to 485 nm with a maximum at 361 nm attributed to the 5f‐4d allowed transition of the Eu2+ ions. Under an excitation at 361 nm, the Sr2SiO4:Eu2+ phosphor exhibited a greenish‐yellow emission peak at 541 nm with an International‐Commission‐on‐Illumination (CIE) chromaticity of (0.3064, 0.4772). The results suggest that the microwave‐assisted sintering method is promising for the synthesis of phosphors owing to the decreased sintering time without the use of additional reductive agents.  相似文献

K2TiF6:Mn4+ red phosphors with different Mn4+ doping concentrations were obtained using the co‐precipitation method. X‐Ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectra, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra and decay curves were used to characterize the properties of K2TiF6:Mn4+ phosphors. Under excitation at 470 nm, an intense red emission peak around 631 nm corresponding to the 2Eg4A2 transition of Mn4+ was observed for 2.48 mol% K2TiF6:Mn4+ phosphors and was used as the optimum doping concentration. The excellent luminescent properties of K2TiF6:Mn4+ suggest that this material might be a promising red phosphor for generating warm white light in phosphor‐converted white light‐emitting diodes. The antimonate compound La3SbO7 has high chemical stability, lattice stiffness and thermal stability. Orange–red‐emitting antimonate‐based phosphors La3SbO7:xSm3+ (x = 0.02, 0.05, 0.08, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20 and 0.25) were synthesized. The phase structure and photoluminescence properties of these phosphors were investigated. The emission spectrum obtained on excitation at 407 nm contained exclusively the characteristic emissions of Sm3+ at 568, 608, 654 and 716 nm, which correspond to the transitions from 4G5/2 to 6H5/2, 6H7/2, 6H9/2 and 6H11/2 of Sm3+, respectively. The strongest emission was located at 608 nm due to the 4G5/26H7/2 transition of Sm3+, generating bright orange–red light. The critical quenching concentration of Sm3+ in La3SbO7:Sm3+ phosphor was determined as 10% and the energy transfer between Sm3+ was found to be through an exchange interaction. The International Commission on Illumination chromaticity coordinates of the La3SbO7:0.10Sm3+ phosphors are located in the orange–red region. The La3SbO7:Sm3+ phosphors may be potentially used as red phosphors for white light‐emitting diodes. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Thermoluminescence (TL) materials are widely used in radiation measurements. The best‐known applications of TL materials are in the dosimetry of ionizing radiation, and in CTV screen phosphors, scintillators, X‐ray laser materials, etc. The TL glow curve and its kinetic parameters for annealed LaPO4 at different constant temperatures and for Dy3+‐doped LaPO4 phosphors irradiated by gamma‐rays are reported here. The samples were irradiated using a 60Co gamma‐ray source at a dose of 10 Gy and the heating rate used for TL measurements was 5ºC/s. The samples were characterized using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared, transmission electron microscopy and TL techniques. The XRD pattern shows that the prepared phosphor has a good crystalline structure with an average crystallite size of ~ 18 nm. The samples show good TL peaks for 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2 mole % doping concentrations of Dy3+ ions and anneal above 400ºC. The TL glow curve characteristics of annealed LaPO4 and Dy3+‐doped LaPO4 were analyzed and trapping parameters calculated using various methods. All TL glow curves obey the second‐order kinetics with a single glow peak, which reveals that only one set of trapping parameter is set for a particular temperature. The TL sensitivity was found to depend upon the annealing temperature and Dy3+ doping concentration. The prepared sample may be a new nano phosphor and be useful in TL dosimetry. A new phosphor CaAl(SO4)2Br doped with Dy, Ce and Eu is reported. Rare earth (Dy, Eu and Ce)‐doped polycrystalline CaAl(SO4)2Br phosphors were prepared using a wet chemical reaction method and studied for X‐ray diffraction and photoluminescence (PL) characteristics. Dy3+ emission in the CaAl(SO4)2Br lattice was observed at 484 and 574 nm in the blue and yellow regions of the spectrum, which are assigned to 4 F9/26H15/2 and 4 F9/26H13/2 transitions of the Dy3+ ion, respectively. While the PL emission spectra of CaAl(SO4)2Br:Ce phosphor showed Ce3+ emission at 347 nm due to 5d → 4f transition of the Ce3+ ion. In a CaAl(SO4)2Br:Eu lattice, Eu3+ emissions were observed at 593 and 617 nm, coming from the 5D07 F1 and 5D07 F2 electron transitions, respectively. The PL study showed that the intensity of electric dipole transition at 617 nm dominates over that of magnetic dipole transition at 590 nm. The maximum PL intensity was obtained for a 1 mol% concentration of Eu3+ in CaAl(SO4)2Br host lattice. The results showed that the material may be a promising candidate as a blue‐, yellow‐ and red‐emitting phosphor. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Incorporating the Gd3+ rare earth ion in the LiCaBO3 host lattice resulted in narrow‐band UV‐B emission peaking at 315 nm, with excitation at 274 nm. The LiCaBO3:Gd3+ phosphor was synthesized via the solid‐state diffusion method. The structural, morphological and luminescence properties of this phosphor were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) characterization of the as‐prepared phosphors is also reported here. XRD studies confirmed the crystal formation and phase purity of the prepared phosphors. A series of different dopant concentrations was synthesized and the concentration‐quenching effect was studied. Critical energy transfer distance between activator ions was determined and the mechanism governing the concentration quenching is also reported in this paper. Sr3(PO4)2:Dy3+,Li+ phosphors were prepared using a simple high temperature solid method for luminescence enhancement. The structures of the as‐prepared samples agreed well with the standard phase of Sr3(PO4)2, even when Dy3+ and Li+ were introduced. Under ultraviolet excitation at 350 nm, the Sr3(PO4)2:Dy3+ sample exhibited two emission peaks at 483 nm and 580 nm, which were due to the 4F9/2 → 6H15/2 and 4F9/2 → 6H13/2 transitions of Dy3+ ions, respectively. A white light was fabricated using these two emissions from the Sr3(PO4)2:Dy3+ phosphors. The luminescence properties of Sr3(PO4)2:Dy3+,Li+ phosphors, including emission intensity and decay time, were improved remarkably with the addition of Li+ as the charge compensator, which would promote their application in near‐ultraviolet excited white‐light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

Li3PO4 phosphor was prepared using a modified solid‐state diffusion technique. In this work, photoluminescence, lyoluminescence and mechanoluminescence studies were carried out in a Li3PO4 microcrystalline powder doped with different rare earths. In photoluminescence studies, characteristic emission of Ce and Eu was observed. The lyoluminescence glow curves of Li3PO4 microcrystals show that lyoluminescence intensity initially increases with time and then decreases exponentially. The decay time consists of two components for all masses. The dependence of decay time, especially the longer component, on mass has been investigated. Experiments on γ‐irradiated crystals have proved that the light emission originates from the recombination of released F‐centres with trapped holes (V2‐centres) at the sulfuric acid–solid interface. Incorporation of bivalent alkali in solid lithium phosphate leads to an enhancement of lyoluminescence. A possible explanation for the experimental results has been attempted. The phosphor has a mechanoluminescence single glow peak. Mechanoluminescence intensity under various loading conditions was investigated. It is observed that mechanoluminescence intensity increases with increasing impurity concentration and increasing piston impact velocity. The results may be considered as only being of academic interest in solid‐state materials. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Eu3+‐doped 6LaPO4–3La3PO7–2La7P3O18 red luminescent phosphors were synthesized by co‐deposition and high‐temperature solid‐state methods and its polyphase state was confirmed by X‐ray diffraction analysis. Transmission electron microscopy showed the grain morphology as a mixture of rods and spheres. Luminescence properties of the phosphor were investigated and its red emission parameters were evaluated as a function of Eu3+ concentration (3.00–6.00 mol%). Excitation spectra of 6LaPO4–3La3PO7–2La7P3O18:Eu3+ showed strong absorption bands at 280, 395, and 466 nm, while the luminescence spectra exhibited prominent red emission peak centred at 615 nm (5D07F2) in the red region. CIE chromaticity coordinates of the 6LaPO4–3La3PO7–2La7P3O18:5%Eu3+ phosphor were (0.668, 0.313) in the red region, and defined its potential application as a red phosphor.  相似文献
