A reduction of nutrient input into freshwater and marine water bodies is a prerequisite for the restoration of healthy aquatic ecosystems and for the achievement of the ambitious goals of the European Water Framework Directive and the HELCOM and OSPAR convention. In Northern Germany, phosphorus inputs from point sources were reduced by nearly two-thirds compared to the phosphorus load in the period 1980–1985. This success was made possible by the investment of 2.1 billion € since 1985 in the development and enhancement of waste water treatment plants. However, these investments had only little effect on nitrogen inputs, which enter water bodies mainly from non-point sources. In 2002, the federal state Schleswig-Holstein implemented a peatland rehabilitation program aiming to restore the water purification function of this wetland type. The rationale of this plan is based on an economical analysis of the effects of the investments in the waste water action plan. A reduction of the P load by 1 kg has mean costs between 70 and 100 €. Based on model calculation, restoring wetlands for water quality purification will cost between 1 and 50 € per retained kg of nitrogen when considering a 10-year time span. Compared to the waste water action plan, wetland restoration is also a cost-efficient strategy for nutrient load reduction. For 10% of the investments of the waste water action plan, the nitrogen load from Schleswig-Holstein can be reduced by 10%; this will require rewetting of 20,000 ha of wetlands. The implementation of this strategy as well as the application of the concept of ecosystem services in environmental management is currently limited by a lack of political support and funding for such projects from higher political bodies such as the European Union.  相似文献

There is a major need to understand the historical condition and chemical/biological functions of the ecosystems following a conversion of wetlands to agricultural functions. To better understand the dynamics of soil total organic carbon (TOC) and phosphorus (P) during beef cattle pastures to wetland reconversion, soil core samples were collected from the beef cattle pasture and from the natural wetland at Plant City, FL, during five summer seasons (2002–2007). The levels of TOC and soil P were significantly affected by changing land use and hydrology. Draining natural wetlands to grazed pastures resulted in very pronounced reduction of TOC from 180.1 to 5.4 g g?1. Cumulative concentrations of total phosphorus (TP) in soils (1134 mg kg?1) under drained condition are two to three times lower than those in soils (2752 mg kg?1) under flooded condition over the periods of land use reconversion. There was a declining trend (r = 0.82**; p  0.01) in total soil P from natural wetland (763 mg kg?1) to altered pastures (340 mg kg?1), largely as organic-bound P (natural wetland, 48%; grazed pastures, 44%; altered pastures, 29%). These results are important in establishing baseline information on soil properties in pasture and wetland prior to restoring and reconverting pasture back to wetland conditions. The results further suggest that changes in soil properties due to changing land use and hydrologic conditions (drying and re-wetting) could be long lasting.  相似文献

Constructed treatment wetlands have served the City of Columbia, MO, for fourteen years. Four free water surface wetland units in series, comprised of 23 cells, are an addition to the activated sludge wastewater treatment plant, for the purpose of added biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and total suspended solids (TSS) control. The system operates year-round, and supplies water to the Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area for wetland maintenance. The cattail wetlands processed an average of 57,000 m3/d, at a water depth of 20 cm. The resulting detention time was approximately 2 days, and the hydraulic loading was 13 cm/d. Water temperatures were warm leaving the treatment plant and in the wetlands in winter, because of the short detention. The period of record average carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand (CBOD) leaving the wetlands was 5.0 mg/L, and the TSS was 14.7 mg/L. Dissolved oxygen was depressed in summer, likely because of the high sediment demand. Nutrient concentrations were only minimally reduced, total nitrogen (TN) by 22% and total phosphorus (TP) by 6%. However, load reductions were maximal, 98 t/yr for nitrogen, and 3.6 t/yr for phosphorus. Fecal coliforms were reduced by 98%, and E. coli by 95%. First order rate coefficients were high for CBOD (64 m/yr), nitrate (61 m/yr) and organic nitrogen (42 m/yr), but relatively low for ammonia (8 m/yr) and phosphorus (5.7 m/yr). Nitrogen removal was strongly affected by vegetative uptake. Sediment accretion in the wetland inlets was substantial, at 1.6 cm/yr in the inlets to the upstream wetland units. Muskrats caused vegetation damage, and waterfowl use was high in winter, causing TSS excursions.  相似文献

A full-scale constructed wetlands system with a total area of 80 ha and treatment capability of 2.0 × 104 m3 d−1 was completed in October 1998 in Rongcheng, Shandong Province, China. To evaluate wastewater treatment effectiveness and seasonal performance of the system, water samples were collected and analyzed from January 1999 to December 2004. Comparison of mean inlet and outlet concentrations showed that the constructed wetland system could effectively reduce the output of SS (71.8 ± 8.4%), BOD5 (70.4 ± 9.6%), COD (62.2 ± 10.1%), total coliform (99.7%) and fecal coliform (99.6%). However, the percent reduction of ammonia nitrogen was relatively low (40.6 ± 15.3%), and total phosphorus showed the least efficient reduction (29.6 ± 12.8%). BOD5, COD, ammonia nitrogen, and total phosphorus removal efficiencies displayed seasonal variations. BOD5 and COD removal was more efficient in spring and summer than in autumn and winter whereas ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus removal was more efficient in summer and autumn than in spring and winter. Annual variation analysis shows that COD, BOD5, and ammonia nitrogen reduction efficiencies increased from 1999 to 2004. In contrast, mean total phosphorus reduction efficiency did not change from 2001 to 2002 and began to decrease from 2003 onwards.  相似文献

Increasing economic growth and industrial development in China is starting to impact even remote areas such as the Shennongjia nature reserve, where nitrogen pollution is becoming a major environmental threat. The epiphytic lichen flora is particularly rich in this area and is one of the components of this habitat most sensitive to nitrogen pollution. Since lichens represent an important food resource for the endangered monkey species Rhinopithecus roxellana, a reduction in lichen availability would have harmful consequences for the conservation of its habitat in the Shennongjia Mountains. To investigate the effects of increased nitrogen availability on the local lichen communities, so far scarcely considered, we conducted a one-year field experiment measuring growth, survival, and phosphomonoesterase activity of the widespread species Usnea luridorufa in response to nitrogen (up to 50 kg N ha−1 year−1 deposition) and phosphorus supply. Growth and survival of thalli and propagules of U. luridorufa decreased when treated with N deposition >12.05 kg N ha−1 year−1 and >2.14 kg N ha−1 year−1, respectively. The important role of phosphorus availability in relation to nitrogen supply was demonstrated by the increase in phosphomonoesterase activity with increasing nitrogen availability until a nitrogen toxicity threshold was reached. However, the high concentration of phosphorus in rainwater showed that phosphorus is not a limiting nutrient in the area. The results make a contribution to the knowledge of the negative effects of increased N deposition in the Shennongjia forest ecosystem.  相似文献

Microalgae have received much attention for the inorganic nutrient removal in tertiary treatment of domestic wastewater. Effect of different kinds of nitrogen sources on the growth and nitrogen/phosphorus removal properties of a newly isolated freshwater microalga, Scenedesmus sp. LX1, from a low-nutrient environment condition was studied and reported in this paper. The order of specific growth rate of the microalga with different nitrogen sources was NH4-N > urea-N > NO3-N. With nitrate or urea as nitrogen source, the microalga could grow well and remove both nitrogen and phosphorus efficiently (90% nitrogen and nearly 100% phosphorus were removed). However, with ammonium as the nitrogen source, the maximum algal density was relatively low, and the nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiencies were as low as 31.1% and 76.4%, respectively. This was caused by the inhibitory effect of algal culture's acid pH due to H+ releasing from NH4+ during algal cultivation process.  相似文献

In this paper the factors influencing treatment performance of subsurface flow constructed wetlands (SSF wetlands) treating aquaculture effluents were identified and quantified. The financial impact of advanced aquaculture effluent treatment with SSF wetlands was calculated. It is the first long-term, commercial-scale trial of SSF wetland treatment for effluents from intensive trout farming, a highly diluted effluent at very high flow rates (mean total phosphorous concentration 0.34 mg L?1 at 14.3 L s?1). The 12-month survey provided the opportunity to generate calculation fundamentals for the commercial application of SSF wetlands for aquaculture. Treatment efficiencies of up to 75–86% for total ammonia nitrogen (TAN), biological oxygen demand (BOD5) and total suspended solids (TSS) were achieved. The daily area retention rate per square meter wetland area was between 2.1 and 4.5 g for TAN and between 30 and 98 g for TSS.The performance of the six wetland cells comprising three replicated hydraulic loading groups (14.5, 6.9, 3.3 m3 m?2 day?1) was monitored, offering the possibility to identify factors influencing treatment efficiency through multifactor analysis. These factors turned out to be nutrient inflow concentration, hydraulic loading rate and accumulation of TSS within the wetland bed, the only time-dependent factor. Factors such as vegetation period and fish harvesting were shown to be of significant but negligible importance.Inflow nutrient concentration is determined by production intensity, husbandry conditions, feed quality and any pre-treatment of effluent. Hydraulic load is determined by the space and budget available for SSF construction. TSS accumulation in the wetland is influenced by pre-treatment of the solid fraction prior to the wetland and determines the wetland service lifetime. From these factors the expenses of commercial wetland application can be estimated, leading to a cost increase around €0.20 kg?1 fish produced (less than 10% of production costs) and therefore confirm the commercial feasibility of SSF wetland treatment.  相似文献

In 2001, to foster the practical development of constructed wetlands (CWs) used for domestic wastewater treatment in Turkey, vertical subsurface flow constructed wetlands (30 m2 of each) were implemented on the campus of the METU, Ankara, Turkey. The main objective of the research was to quantify the effect of different filter media on the treatment performance of vertical flow wetlands in the prevailing climate of Ankara. Thus, a gravel-filled wetland and a blast furnace granulated iron slag-filled wetland were operated identically with primarily treated domestic wastewater (3 m3 d−1) at a hydraulic loading rate of 0.100 m d−1, intermittently. Both of the wetland cells were planted with Phragmites australis. According to the first year results, average removal efficiencies for the slag and gravel wetland cells were as follows: total suspended solids (TSS) (63% and 59%), chemical oxygen demand (COD) (47% and 44%), NH4+–N (88% and 53%), total nitrogen (TN) (44% and 39%), PO43−-P (44% and 1%) and total phosphorus (TP) (45% and 4%). The treatment performances of the slag-filled wetland were better than that of the gravel-filled wetland in terms of removal of phosphorus and production of nitrate. Since this study was a pioneer for implementation of subsurface constructed wetlands in Turkey using local sources, it has proved that this eco-technology could also be used effectively for water quality enhancement in Turkey.  相似文献

The influence of nitrogen and phosphorus pulses on Chaetomorpha linum (Muller) Kutzing growth and photosynthesis was studied in laboratory experiments. Photosynthesis and growth of C. linum from Tancada lagoon seems limited by both nitrogen and phosphorus, as indicated by the high rate (4.7–11.6 mg O2 g−1 dry weight h−1) of light-saturated photosynthesis (Pm) and growth rates observed under nitrogen plus phosphorus enrichment in relation to enrichment by nitrogen alone (2.9–7.6 mg O2 g−1 dry weight h−1). Significant increase in nitrogen and phosphorus content as percentage of dry weight was observed in C. linum fertilized with a single nutrient or with nitrogen plus phosphorus. In Tancada lagoon, when availability of nitrogen to primary producers is by pulses, an increase of nitrate concentration in the water column (from 6 to 100 μM) has a greater effect on growth of C. linum (growth rate: 0.13 day−1) than an increase in ammonium concentration (from 20 to 100 μM and growth rate: 0.11 day−1). For a given thallus nitrogen content (0.6–1.4% N), both Pm and the photosynthetic efficiency (α) normalized to dry weight were correlated (r2 = 0.73, p < 0.005) indicating that variations in electron transport were coupled to variations in C-fixation capacity. Optimizing both α and Pm may be a general characteristic of thin-structured opportunistic algae in more variable estuarine environments.  相似文献

Temperate wetlands in the Northern Hemisphere have high long-term carbon sequestration rates, and play critical roles in mitigating regional and global atmospheric CO2 increases at the century timescale. We measured soil organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) from 11 typical freshwater wetlands (Heilongjiang Province) and one saline wetland (Jilin Province) in Northeast China, and estimated carbon sequestration rates using 210Pb and 137Cs dating technology. Effects of climate, net primary productivity, and nutrient availability on carbon sequestration rates (Rcarbon) were also evaluated. Chronological results showed that surface soil within the 0–40 cm depth formed during the past 70–205 years. Soil accretion rates ranged from 2.20 to 5.83 mm yr−1, with an average of 3.84 ± 1.25 mm yr−1 (mean ± SD). Rcarbon ranged from 61.60 to 318.5 gC m−2 yr−1 and was significantly different among wetland types. Average Rcarbon was 202.7 gC m−2 yr−1 in the freshwater wetlands and 61.6 gC m−2 yr−1 in the saline marsh. About 1.04 × 108 tons of carbon was estimated to be captured by temperate wetland soils annually in Heilongjiang Province (in the scope of 45.381–51.085°N, 125.132–132.324°E). Correlation analysis showed little impact of net primary productivity (NPP) and soil nutrient contents on Rcarbon, whereas climate, specifically the combined dynamics of temperature and precipitation, was the predominant factor affecting Rcarbon. The negative relationship observed between Rcarbon and annual mean temperature (T) indicates that warming in Northeast China could reduce Rcarbon. Significant positive relationships were observed between annual precipitation (P), the hydrothermal coefficient (defined as P/AT, where AT was accumulative temperature ≥10 °C), and Rcarbon, indicating that a cold, humid climate would enhance Rcarbon. Current climate change in Northeast China, characterized by warming and drought, may form positive feedbacks with Rcarbon in temperate wetlands and accelerate carbon loss from wetland soils.  相似文献

In this study, we apply an integrated empirical and mechanism approach to estimate a comprehensive long-term (1953–2012) total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) loading budget for the eutrophic Lake Chaohu in China. This budget is subsequently validated, firstly, by comparing with the available measured data in several years, and secondly, by model simulations for long-term nutrient dynamics using both Vollenweider (VW) model and dynamic nonlinear (DyN) model. Results show that the estimated nutrient budget is applicable for further evaluations. Surprisingly, nutrient loading from non-point sources (85% for TN and 77% for TP on average) is higher than expectation, suggesting the importance of nutrient flux from the soil in the basin. In addition, DyN model performs relatively better than VW model, which is attributed to both the additional sediment recycling process and the parameters adjusted by the Bayesian-based Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. DyN model further shows that the TP loading thresholds from the clear to turbid state (631.8 ± 290.16 t y−1) and from the turbid to clear state (546.0 ± 319.80 t y−1) are significantly different (p < 0.01). Nevertheless, the uncertainty ranges of the thresholds are largely overlapped, which is consistent with the results that the eutrophication of Lake Chaohu is more likely to be reversible (74.12%) than hysteretic (25.53%). The ecosystem of Lake Chaohu shifted from the clear to turbid state during late 1970s. For managers, approximately two-thirds of the current TP loading must be reduced for a shift back with substantial improvement in water quality. Because in practice the reduction of loading from a non-point source is very difficult and costly, additional methods beyond nutrient reduction, such as water level regulation, should be considered for the lake restoration.  相似文献

Four treatment peatlands were studied in Northern Finland in order to determine peat P, Al and Fe concentration distributions and to find removal parameters for nutrient modelling. The sites had been under loading for 10–16 years. About 20 peat samples for analyses of oxalate-extractable and total P, Al and Fe were collected from the depth 0–10 cm in each peatland. The peat P concentration ranged from 0.097 mg g?1 to 14 mg g?1 being 1.7 mg g?1on average. P accumulated in preferential flow path areas. Although P concentrations were locally high, DSSP (the index of potential soil P release from peat to water) was very low in all studied peatlands, indicating that peat was not saturated by phosphorus. The results indicate that Al-based precipitation chemicals increase substantially P retention capacity of peatland and maintain a stabile P reduction in spite of varying P loads. The results also show long-term phosphorus accumulation in peatlands polishing municipal wastewater from activated sludge treatment. The regression analyses showed that k-value for N removal depends on N loading and hydraulic loading. The first-order area model together with regression analysis of the rate constant result in a good agreement between observed and calculated nitrogen concentration. The NH4-N loading to the peatland should be below 0.10 mg m2 d?1 in order to achieve a high reduction of 70%.  相似文献

The main objective of this study was to quantify nutrient transport dynamics of a previously ungauged, temperate watershed (145 km2) surrounding a shallow eutrophic lake and discern lake response to external nutrient loading, based on soil water assessment tool (SWAT) and the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) empirical lake models, respectively. A SWAT model was used to simulate baseline nutrient dynamics after its calibration and validation against daily tributary flow, total dissolved phosphorus (TDP), total phosphorus (TP), and nitrate (NO3) loads. On the watershed scale, median annual TDP, TP, and NO3 losses were 0.4, 1.1, and 2.0 kg ha 1, respectively. The highest median annual TP and NO3 losses were estimated at 3.7 and 7.7 kg ha 1 for pastureland and 1.7 and 3.8 kg ha 1 for cropland and mixed forests, respectively. Baseflow was the major nutrient transport pathway over a wide range of precipitation events (450 to 900 mm yr 1). Erosion was the predominant surface process exporting P across the watershed. Critical source areas (CSAs) of TP and NO3 comprised 17% and 4% of the watershed, respectively. Annual mean TP, and mean and maximum chlorophyll content indicated a hyper-eutrophication risk for the lake. An external P load reduction by excess of 80% could be necessary to restore mesotrophy in the lake. Our results suggested that subsurface P transport should not be overlooked a priori when groundwater-dependent and extensively farmed watersheds are managed for eutrophication abatement.  相似文献

The South Nation River Watershed, in eastern Ontario, Canada, is an agricultural watershed impacted by excess nutrient loading primarily from agricultural activities. A constructed wetland for the treatment of agricultural wastewater from a 150-cow dairy operation in this watershed was monitored in its eighth operating season to evaluate the proportion of total nitrogen (TN) (approximated by total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN) due to low NO3) and total phosphorus (TP) removal that could be attributed to storage in Typha latifolia L. and Typha angustifolia L., which dominate this system. Nutrient loading rates were high, with 16.2 kg ha−1 d−1 N and 3.4 kg ha−1 d−1 P entering the wetland and loading the first wetland cell. Plant uptake accounted for 0.7% of TKN removal when the vegetated free water surface cells were considered together. However, separately, in the second wetland cell with lower N and P loading rates, plants accounted for 9% of TKN, 21% of NH4+ and 5% of TP removal. Plant uptake was significant to overall removal given wetland age and nutrient loading. Nutrient storage during the growing season at this constructed wetland helped reduce the nutrient load entering the watershed, already stressed by intensive local agriculture.  相似文献

In this research study a nitrifying/autotrophic denitrifying system was used for the post-treatment of an effluent coming from an anaerobic digester treating the wastewater produced in a fish canning industry. The nitrifying reactor achieved 100% of ammonia oxidation into nitrate. The effluent from this unit was fed to the autotrophic denitrifying reactor which treated a maximum sulphide loading rate (SLR) of 200 mg S2?/L d with removal percentages of 100% and 30% for sulphide and nitrate, respectively. The low nitrate removal efficiency is attributed to sulphide limitations. The operational costs of this system were estimated as 0.92 €/kg Nremoved, lower than those for conventional nitrification/denitrification processes. For nitrogen removal the SHARON/anammox processes is the cheapest option. However the combination of nitrification and autotrophic denitrification (using elemental sulphur) processes would present a better operational stability compared to the SHARON/anammox system.  相似文献

The ability of riverine ecosystems to retain nutrients depends on different hydrological, chemical and biological conditions including exchange processes between streams and wetlands. We investigated nutrient retention in a stream wetland complex on the time scale of daily hydrological exchange between both systems. Daily mass balances of NO3-N, NH4-N, TP and SRP were calculated with data obtained by two automated measurement stations in a stream reach upstream and downstream of a wetland. The pattern of hydrological exchange between stream and wetland was used to classify characteristic hydrological periods like floods, base and low flows. The nutrient retention function of the stream wetland complex varied considerably during phases of similar hydrologic conditions. Despite re-wetting measures in the wetland, an overall net export of all nutrients except for NH4-N characterised the whole growing season. Nitrate retention occurred during summer flood (retention in the wetland, 23 kg NO3-N d?1, 17% of the input load) and low flow (retention in the stream, 1 kg NO3-N d?1, 2% of the input load). TP retention during summer could be assigned to sedimentation (0.7 kg TP d?1, 7% during flooding in the wetland, 0.2 kg TP d?1, 4% during low flow in the stream). SRP retention was only intermittent. We concluded that the nutrient retention of streams and wetlands can only be optimised by restoration measures that regard both systems as one functional unit in terms of nutrient retention.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to evaluate and compare broadleaved cattail (Typha latifolia L.) biomass production and the nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) content in phytomass in three treatment wetland systems and to propose suitable areas for treatment wetlands in Estonia for raw material production. The biomass samples (roots/rhizomes, shoots with leaves and spadixes) and litter were collected from 1 m × 1 m plots—15 plots in the Tänassilma semi-natural wetland, 15 plots in the Põltsamaa free water surface (FWS) constructed wetland (CW), and 10 plots in the Häädemeeste FWS CW. The average aboveground biomass of T. latifolia varied from 0.37 to 1.76 kg DW m?2 in autumn and from 0.33 to 1.38 kg DW m?2 in winter. The greatest average nitrogen (22,950 mg N kg?1) concentration was found in spadixes in 2002, and the phosphorus (6500 mg P kg?1) concentration was measured in roots–rhizomes in 2003. Average standing stock of nitrogen and phosphorus was higher in aboveground than belowground phytomass. In FWS CWs with high hydraulic and nutrient loadings, however, the harvesting of aboveground biomass is not an effective means for the removal of nutrients. Cattail biomass is a valuable insulation material, whereas the fibre from spadixes mixed with clay gives elasticity to clay plasters. According to our estimates, about 5412 km2 could be used for Typha cultivation in Estonia.  相似文献

Increasing the use of forest biomass for energy production is an important mitigation strategy against climate change. Sustainable use of natural resources requires that these policies are evaluated, planned and implemented, taking into account the boundary conditions of the ecological systems affected. This paper describes the development and application of a quantitative modelling framework for evaluating integrated impacts of forest biomass removal scenarios on four key environmental sustainability/ecosystem service indicators: (i) carbon sequestration and balance, (ii) soil nutrient balances (base cations and nitrogen), (iii) nutrient leaching to surface waters (nitrogen and phosphorus), and (iv) dead wood biomass (used as proxy indicator for impacts on species diversity). The system is based on the use of spatial data sets, mass balance calculations, loading coefficients and dynamic modelling. The approach is demonstrated using data from an intensively studied region (Hämeenlinna municipality) encompassing the Lammi LTER (Long-Term Ecosystem Research) site in southern Finland. Forest biomass removal scenarios were derived from a management-oriented large-scale forestry model (MELA) based on sample plot and stand-level data from national forest inventories. These scenarios have been developed to guide future Finnish forest management with respect to bioenergy use. Using harvest residues for district heat production reduced fossil carbon emissions but also the carbon sink of forests in the case study area. Calculations of the net removal of base cations of the different scenarios ranged between −36 to −43 meq m−2 a−1, indicating that the supply of base cations (soil weathering + deposition) would be enough to sustain also energy-wood harvesting. Greatly increased nutrient removal values and increasing nitrogen limitation problems were however predicted. Clear-cuttings and site preparation were predicted to increase the load of total nitrogen (4.0%) and total phosphorus (4.5%) to surface waters, compared with background leaching. The amount of dead wood has been identified as a key factor for forest species diversity in Finland. A scenario maximising harvest residues used for bioenergy production, would decrease stem dead wood biomass by about 40%, compared with a business-as-usual scenario. Clear trade-off situations could be observed in the case study area between maximising the use of energy-wood and minimising impacts on species diversity, soil carbon and nutrient stores, and nutrient leaching. The developed model system allows seeking for optimised solutions with respect to different management options and sustainability considerations.  相似文献

Release of nitrogen and phosphorus into effluent of activated sludge process was reported in the recent researches of sludge reduction induced by oligochaetes. In this study, batch test and radioisotope 32P tracer test were therefore carried out to further investigate nutrients release and phosphorus distribution among supernatant, sludge and worm during predation of oligochaetes on sludge. Results showed that more nutrients release into supernatant occurred in the tests of worms with sterilized sludge than that of worms with activated sludge, and release of nitrogen and phosphorus was few in the tests of worms with activated sludge. Statistical analysis showed that no factor was significantly correlated with phosphorus concentration in the supernatant, but time and worm were only two factors significantly affecting total nitrogen (TN) concentration in the supernatant in the test of worms with activated sludge. Through test of radioisotope 32P tracer, 32P mainly distributed in activated sludge and supernatant, and more release of 32P into the supernatant occurred in the test of sludge with worms. After 24 h, 32P concentration of supernatant in the test of sludge with worms was 9% higher than that in the test of sludge without worms, and 32P concentration of worm increased by 2.7%. Additionally, the release rate of phosphorus into supernatant caused by worm's predation on activated sludge was 0.1211 mgTP/gWorm (wet weight) h.  相似文献
