Fossil invertebrates collected or received by Alcide d’Orbigny, all his life long, have been brought together in a renowned collection that is very rich in terms of both species and specimens. The collection has resulted from a huge palaeontological work. Study of faunas from numerous French sites led Alcide d’Orbigny to do biostratigraphical comparisons and to erect geological stages, the definitions of which rest on their stratotypes. His wide knowledge of European fossil faunas was strengthened by a more global palaeobiogeographical view derived from his travel in South America. The d’Orbigny collection is housed in the ‘Muséum’ of Paris and is often visited by experts.  相似文献

Adequate identification of patients for early intervention programmes requires reliable and valid assessment tools. Within the German Schizophrenia Network (Kompetenznetz Schizophrenie) a set of schedules for early detection of schizophrenia has been proposed: the Early Recognition Inventory ERIraos. ERIraos is a two-step procedure with a 17-item checklist used at step 1 by GPs, psychologists, teachers, while a comprehensive 110-item symptom list is applied at early intervention centres at the expert level. In addition, ERIraos allows the assessment of several risk factors for psychosis such as familial load, childhood deficiencies, alcohol and drug use by special modules. Some preliminary results are presented here. The frequency of the 17 checklist symptoms increases from the early to the late prodrome, and more specific symptoms occur over time. The 17 checklist symptoms are grouped by factor analysis to 5 factors (psychotic, depressive, disorganised, withdrawn, dysphoric). In addition to prodromal symptoms, most patients (86.2%) report at least one additional risk factor (mean: 1.7 risks). 68% demonstrate some schizotypal features, 53% report alcohol and/or drug consumption, 24% demonstrate some deficiency or delay in childhood development, 21% report definite obstetric or birth complications, and 10% have a family history of schizophrenia or some schizophrenia-like diagnosis in first degree relatives. So far, the results are of a preliminary nature, and when sufficient information on psychotic transitions is available, the predictive value of ERIraos will be determined.  相似文献

D’Orbigny has created the order of Foraminifera for minute animals classed, at this time, amongst Cephalopoda, and proposed the first classification of this order in 1826, laying the foundations of micropalaeontology. All along his life, he described, figured or clarified diagnosis of about 1500 recent and fossil species. His collections, stored in the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, represent an inestimable patrimony and are still actively consulted. Several micropalaeontologists had contributed to their valorisation and recognised the validity of most of his species. Nowadays, one hundred and two are considered as type species of genera.  相似文献

A skeleton of a Channid fish is reported for the first time from the European Lower Miocene. Because of the lack of any appropriate diagnostic character, it is nevertheless impossible to determine if it belongs either to the Asiatic genusChanna Scopoli or to the African one,Parachanna Teugels &Daget. For this reason, its palaeobiogeographical significance remains unclear. Otoliths (sagitta) that very likely belong to the same Channid species have been described from Illerkirchberg asChanna elliptica (vonSalis). They are compared to the sagitta from recent species of the generaChanna (Scopoli) andParachanna (Teugels &Daget). Their morphological characters are intermediate between those characterizing the sagitta of both genera.  相似文献

From HO Anger's analogic gamma camera to digital camera, developed countries are at the time of hybrid cameras SPECT/CT and PET/CT. Sub-Saharan black Africa in the image of Côte d’Ivoire, a country with limited medical resources shows an important delay in the evolution of the health system in general and particularly in medical imaging equipment. The purpose of this paper was to approach the issues, challenges and sustainable strategy for the implementation of hybrid imaging SPECT/CT in a developing country where the rate of morbidity and mortality remains high due to infectious but also cancer diseases because of the inadequacy of the health technical platform. To address these challenges, Côte d’Ivoire like many countries in sub-Saharan Africa with limited medical resources must design, test and develop clinical strategies adapted to developing countries. Health authorities of this country must develop a policy for sustainable financing of medical imaging, including the training of the adequate health personnel according to a model of corporate leadership. In this perspective, Côte d’Ivoire must have a SPECT/CT instead of a simple gamma camera. This would allow to optimize its diagnostic health system in oncology, bone and joint disease and in many other medical disciplines. And especially since the SPECT/CT is a high-performance device that has largely demonstrated its diagnostic efficiency and that can be used as SPECT alone or as isolated CT. In addition, this country should take over digital imaging in the context of cooperation with some countries of Africa and Europe ahead in the field of modern medical imaging, seeking assistance from international organizations (IAEA, RAD-AID, WHO,…). Finally this country should implement methods of assessment, types of performance indicators to guide planning for future projects of its system.  相似文献

Le terme d’anticorps anti-nucléaires (ANA), consacré par l’usage, est trop restrictif puisque certains de ces anticorps reconnaissent des antigènes cytoplasmiques. Un très grand nombre d’ANA a été identifié au cours des 30 dernières années. Seul un nombre restreint de ceux-ci est spécifiquement associé à des maladies précises, connues sous le vocable de connectivites. Toutefois, des ANA peuvent assui être rencontrés dans d’autres affections, un syndrome infectieux ou inflammatoire, une néoplasie, une maladie spécifique d’organe, en particulier les maladies du foie comme l’hépatite auto-immune et certaines cholangiopathies. Enfin, il ne faut pas oublier l’apparition d’ANA survenant lors de la prise de certains médicaments. La spécificité de ces anticorps est tout à fait différente de celle que l’on observe dans les connectivites.  相似文献

Situated a few kilometres from Angles-sur-Anglin (Vienne, France), the Roc-aux-Sorciers cave has yielded in 1927 and 1950 industry of the Middle and Upper Magdalenian periods. Our analyses of the sedimentary filling, dated from isotope stage 2, demonstrate the existence of two climatic sequences in the six ensembles defined during the excavations. A first sequence, at the base of the cave filling, corresponds to the occupation levels of the Middle Magdalenian and of the early Upper Magdalenian. At that time, the climate was globally cold and particularly humid, a conclusion that does not support Bastin's 1975 hypothesis on the oscillation of Angles-sur-Anglin, which postulates a mild and humid climate. In fact, the climate evolved progressively towards a slight warming from the base to the top of the stratigraphy. During the second sequence, corresponding to the occupation period of the Upper Magdalenian, the relatively stable climate was slightly warmer and quite humid. Stratigraphical and sedimentological data thus provide new information on the conditions under which the filling was deposited and on the palaeoclimatology of the Poitou-Charentes region during Magdalenian occupation.  相似文献

IntroductionRadionuclide ventriculography provides a reproducible measurement of the left ventricular fraction ejection (LVEF) but with a significant body radiation (effective dose of 5,9 mSv for the injection of 850 Mbq of 99mTc). The highly sensitive semi-conductor (CZT) cameras could allow decreasing the injected activity by a factor 3, similarly to that of myocardial perfusion imaging. Our study was aimed to determine whether the LVEF measurement provided by radionuclide ventriculography on the CZT D-SPECT camera is impacted by a 70% reduction in recorded counts.Materials and methodsAfter the in vivo labeling of red blood cells with 850 MBq of 99mTc, 49 patients completed a conventional 2D recording (Conv-2D) on Anger camera followed by a 3D recording on the D-SPECT camera (3D-100%). The CZT recordings of all projections were subsequently shortened to 30% of their initial durations (3D-30%) in order to assess the LVEF measured with a 70% reduction in recorded counts.ResultsMean LVEF values were 62.7 ± 11.1% on Conv-2D and higher on both 3D-100% (66.8 ± 14.8%, P < 0.001) and 3D-30% (66.3 ± 15.7%, P < 0.001). The correlation coefficients with the LVEF determined with the reference Conv-2D method were equivalents for 3D-100% (r2 = 0.73) and 3D-30% (r2 = 0.70) and with a similar level of overestimation for the highest LEVF values.ConclusionA 70% reduction in recorded counts does not significantly impact the LVEF measured with radionuclide ventriculography on the CZT D-SPECT camera. These values are coherent with those obtained with the reference 2D method but with a clear overestimation for the highest LVEF values.  相似文献

Myocardial perfusion SPECT is a routine for the assessment of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, attenuation artifacts may decrease the specificity of the test. These artifacts can be corrected with an attenuation correction. We prospectively included 70 patients who underwent myocardial perfusion SPECT with (IRAC) and without (IRNC) attenuation correction using transmission CT imaging integrated in the acquisition system in patients with low prevalence of CAD. Automatic quantitative analysis with summed stress score (SSS) and rest (SRS) and summed difference score (SDS) was used as interpretation criteria. The results showed a specificity of 80% for IRAC and 56% for IRNC, a positive predictive value of 40% for IRAC and 23% for IRNC, without any significant change in sensitivity. An unpaired t-test showed no significant difference between the overall population and one where an artifact was corrected for heart rate and breath rate during the acquisition effort, the body mass index, chest and abdomen circumferences, and the ratio of these two parameters. Attenuation correction significantly improves the specificity of myocardial scintigraphy with no significant difference in sensitivity. The majority of corrections were for artifacts from the inferior wall in men. There is no correlation between the anthropomorphic and physiological parameters and the occurrence of an artifact of attenuation corrected with CT data.  相似文献

IntroductionAs the visual interpretation of the brain perfusion SPECT for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease might be difficult, it is wished to benefit from techniques allowing to improve the diagnostic accuracy especially for the inexperienced readers.Materials and methodsThree readers retrospectively interpreted 77 99mTc-ECD SPECT studies within the context of suspected neurodegenerative disease. The probability of Alzheimer's disease was quoted from 1 to 5, and the optimum sensitivity and specificity values were determined from ROC curves. The readers also attributed a hypoperfusion score to 13 brain regions; a diagnosis was obtained from this semi-quantification using a simple logic rule. The SPECT scans were also analyzed using the Planet Neuro software and a diagnosis was reached from a threshold for 2 of the 90 analyzed regions. The gold standard was established by a comprehensive neurological evaluation with at least 5 years of follow-up.ResultsThe sensitivities and specificities of the three readers were 50 %, 56 %, 28 % and 76 %, 83 % and 90 %, respectively. Using the semi-quantification they were 50 %, 67 %, 61 % and 54 %, 85 %, 69 %. The results of two readers were more in agreement. Using the automatic quantification, sensitivity was 78 % and specificity 81 %.ConclusionThe semi-quantification seems to ameliorate the results of and the agreement between certain readers. However, the automatic quantification seems to be the only way of assisting all of the readers to improve their diagnostic performances.  相似文献

Injection of uropathogenic E. coli into the rat cauda epididymidis results in chronic epididymitis in 74.2% of cases, accompanied by necrotic orchitis (16.1% of cases) or non-infectious testicular lesions (45.2% of cases). Injection of killed bacteria caused the same noninfectious testicular lesions, most probably due to toxic damage. Injection of bacteria into the seminal vesicles caused a vesiculitis which regressed after seven days and disappeared progressively. Simultaneously, the prostate was invaded by polymorphonuclear leucocytes, an infection which persisted for more than three months. E. coli injection in association with bilateral castration gave rise to the formation of chronic vesicular abscesses. Examination of the male genital tract lymphatic system allowed explanation of the spread of infection from the epididymis to the testis, and from the seminal vesicle to the prostate. The epididymis is an organ with poor defense against against infection whereas the seminal vesicle is able, owing to the activity of its epithelium, to fight infection. On the other hand, prostatitis secondary to vesiculitis is immediately chronic.  相似文献

Four human remains: one mandible, two skulls and one metatarsus were discovered between 1991 and 1999 at the open-air site of Dmanisi, Georgia, in a precise stratigraphic, palaeontological and archaeological context, in volcanic ashes dated to 1.81 ± 0.05 Ma. The first studies of these fossils enable the authors to compare them with the morphology of archaic African Homo erectus, ascribed to Homo ergaster, and to ascertain hominid presence at the gates of Europe 300 000 years earlier than the classical scenario forecasted. In September 2000, the discovery of a second more complete and robust mandible D 2600 presents a threefold interest: palaeontological, functional and pathological. A comparison with Homo habilis and Homo erectus leads to the recognition of a new Homo species: H. georgicus sp. nov. The morphofunctional characteristics and the antiquity of H. georgicus characterise the root of a long Eurasian line.  相似文献

Through the analysis of flint and obsidian artefacts, numerous studies have shown the links that existed between Corsica and Sardinia during Neolithic and Chalcolithic. However, we have almost no information about the movements and exchanges that took place in Corsica itself. Rhyolite, a siliceous volcanic rock, has been exploited in Corsica and disseminated throughout the territory from the early Neolithic. Up to now, only one major study has been conducted in the North of the island, in order to identify, by petrographic analysis, the raw material deposits of these rhyolite artefacts. Petrography is a destructive method; it is thus difficult to apply it to large series of archaeological objects. Our aim was therefore to investigate less invasive analytical methods, based on the geochemistry of rocks, in order to conduct future studies based on these rhyolite remains. We analysed 34 geological samples from four different sources, as well as 31 archaeological samples unearthed at three different archaeological areas. We show that EDXRF is an effective method to discriminate sources but also to characterise artefacts using nondestructive protocol. LA-ICP-MS encounters issues due to heterogeneity of the studied rocks. However, we show that by adjusting our testing protocol this method can complement the EDXRF analysis, which is ineffective on objects that are too thin.  相似文献

Prostasomes are particular lipid vesicles secreted by the human prostate and found in the semen. No specific action has yet been attributed to prostasomes, but they appear to act at various levels. For example, prostasomes enhance sperm motility in vitro and participate in the immunomodulation properties of seminal plasma. Excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in human semen has a negative influence on the functional capacities of spermatozoa. The presence of leukocytes in semen is associated with increased production of ROS that can be harmful to sperm cells, under certain conditions. Previous results tend to suggest a possible role of prostasomes on ROS production in human semen. After reviewing the literature concerning the structural and functional characteristics of prostasomes and the role of ROS in human semen, we report our results concerning the influence of prostasomes on ROS production and the consequences on semen. We have demonstrated that prostasomes exert an antioxidant function in human semen. This function is effective both on polymorphonuclear neutrophils and on sperm cells. The mechanism of action of prostasomes is unusual, as they act on ROS production mainly on the plasma membranes of neutrophils. They induce a decrease of NADPH-oxidase activity associated with rigidification of the plasma membrane. Prostasomes protect the functional capacities of spermatozoa during an oxidative stress created by the presence of NADPH in the incubation medium.  相似文献

Over the last decade, the genetic basis for CBAVD has been identified by its association with CFTR gene mutations, and CBAVD is now generally considered to be a mild or incomplete form of CF. In this review, the author summarizes the main results of compilation of CFTR gene analysis conducted in French laboratories for 3,923 patients with CF and 800 males with CABVD. The degree of clinical expression can be affected by several variables, including the molecular mechanisms by which the various CFTR mutations impair or disrupt the function of the CFTR chloride channel. Phenotypic expression of CFTR mutational genotypes varies from severe, progressive pulmonary disease with pancreatic insufficiency (CF-PI), to mild pulmonary disease with pancreatic sufficiency (PS) or singleorgan forms of “CFTR-opathies”. In CF, a total of 310 different CFTR mutations accounting for 94% of 7,846 CF alleles have generated almost 500 different genotypes, comprising 2 severe mutations in 88% of cases (CF-PI), one severe mutation in trans to a mild mutation in 11% (CF-PS), and 2 mild mutations in 1% of identified genotypes. In CBAVD, 137 mutations scattered over the whole gene were identified in 60% of 1,600 CBAVD alleles during the study. Among the 150 characterized mutational CFTR genotypes, compound heterozygosity was the rule, and the most frequent CBAVD combinations were ΔF508/5T (35%), ΔF508/other mutation (30%, including ΔF508/R117H-7T: 5,6%), and 5T/other mutation (17%). No combination of two severe mutations was found in CBAVD (0%); by contrast with the CF population, 88% of genotypes identified in CBAVD comprised a severe mutation in trans to a mild mutation, and 12% consisted of 2 mild mutations. A total of 22 genotypes were shared by both CF and CBAVD. The role of the 5T allele as a splicing variant with variable, incomplete disease penetrance in CBAVD is reviewed. Other haplotype backgrounds, such as the TG12 sequence and the M470V polymorphism, may influence CFTR splicing and/or function. This study confirms the high molecular heterogeneity of CFTR mutations in CBAVD and emphasizes the importance of extensive CFTR analysis in these patients. Longterm follow-up studies of CBAVD patients are necessary in order to predict the phenotypic consequences of numerous CFTR mutational genotypes.  相似文献
