无性生殖在苔藓植物的生活史中起着重要的作用,并且常通过各种无性繁殖体来完成。无性繁殖体的形态常被用来辅助鉴定一些不育的藓类植物。本文通过对38种藓类植物的无性繁殖体进行显微观察,结果显示:无性繁殖体在不同的藓类植物之间已经过多次演化;无性繁殖体的形态在种内是相对稳定的,且与其着生位置、配子体的分枝方式密切相关,而与植物的系统位置以及生境并无直接的关系;无性繁殖体的颜色与其胞壁的厚度以及表面纹饰密切相关。此外,无性繁殖体的产生常常与假根、原丝体有共存关系。在研究中发现,藓类植物的无性繁殖体主要包括原丝体芽胞、无性芽胞(叶生芽胞、中肋芽胞、枝生芽胞)、芽体、假根芽胞和假根状块茎;其中原丝体芽胞和无性芽胞最为常见。  相似文献

We examined the effects of urban-derived fluvial contamination on aquatic bryophytes with the aim of improving use of these organisms for active biomonitoring of this type of contamination. Samples of the aquatic moss Fontinalis antipyretica were transplanted to five sites of a river affected by different levels of urban contamination. The aquatic contamination was characterized by a series of physical and chemical parameters, which were then related to the physiological responses determined in transplants of the bryophyte. Comparison of the data revealed the physiological parameters that best differentiated between levels of contamination. The active biomonitoring technique proved to be a clear and rapid method of determining the existence of a contamination gradient on the basis of the degree of pigmentary and photosynthetic stress in the moss transplants. Of the parameters considered, the concentration of phaeopigments and the net photosynthetic rate provided the clearest responses.  相似文献

Aquatic bryophytes are widely used in biomonitoring studies, mainly because of their capacity to act as bioaccumulators. As different methods can be used to preserve and process moss samples, the results of elemental analyses may also vary, particularly if the contents of different cellular compartments are analyzed separately. In the present study, we compared the total concentrations of some elements and the concentrations of these in different cellular locations in frozen-thawed and fresh samples of the aquatic moss Fontinalis squamosa that were also washed for different lengths of time before analysis. We used the sequential elution technique (SET) to extract the different fractions, and we determined the concentrations of K, Mg, Ca, Cd, Co, Cu, Al and Zn in the extracts. The results varied depending on the element, cellular location and moss sampling site. In the moss samples processed after freezing, the greatest differences were in the intracellular concentrations of K, Mg and Cd, which were lower than in the fresh samples. Minor differences were found in the concentrations of elements in other cellular locations and in the total concentrations of elements. The increase in the duration of the initial washing step, carried out to remove soluble and particulate intercellular elements, may also cause the release of elements (e.g. K and Mg) bound to extracellular exchange sites. The concentrations in the other cellular fractions and the total concentrations were less affected by the washing duration. Neither freezing nor the use of long washing times are recommended for processing moss samples prior to extraction of elements by the SET. Further studies are needed to confirm and clarify the observations.  相似文献

Abstract

Octoblepharum albidum Hedw. is an autoicous moss commonly occurring in tropical savannas, dry forests, rainforests and coastal habitats. It frequently reproduces by spores and asexual structures (gemmae and protonemata or buds at leaf tips), making it a good model for understanding how reproductive traits change with respect to habitat type. Our aims were to characterize the different life-history traits in O. albidum relative to sexual and asexual cycles and to detect variations in reproductive performance among the different habitats, trade-offs among these traits, and relationships among reproductive traits and plant length. We studied colonies from two Atlantic rainforests and two coastal sites in north-eastern Brazil. Shoots in the coastal sites, compared to those of the forest sites, had higher numbers of sporophytes, male and female branches per shoot, male gametangia per sexual branch, and longer setae. Numbers of female gametangia per sexual branch did not differ between forest and coastal sites. A male-biased sex ratio of branches and gametangia occurred in all sites. Compared to gemmae, sporophytes and protonemata or buds were more likely to be found on longer shoots than on shorter ones, but this relationship was only applicable to forest sites. The abundant production of gemmae and protonemata or buds at leaf tips, and sporophytes (spores) in O. albidum are important components in explaining colonization success and maintenance in this tropical moss. Longer sporophytic setae in addition to a higher reproductive performance (especially for number of male gametangia and sporophytes per shoot) may favour spore dispersal and colonization in plants of coastal sites.  相似文献

Across latitudinal gradients, environmental conditions that influenceplant growth and reproduction largely change. Here we study clonal variation inlife-cycle characteristics of the cosmopolitan water plantPotamogetonpectinatus L. across a broad latitudinal range.Two consecutive experiments were performed under standardised laboratoryconditions (photoperiod, irradiance and temperature). In the first experimentweinvestigated asexual reproduction among fifteen clones, obtained from latitudesranging from 24 to 68° N. After 90 days of growth, high-latitude clonesproduced more but smaller tubers, while the aboveground biomass was lower ascompared to the clones obtained from low latitudes.In a second experiment we studied inherent differences in early growth,morphology and photosynthesis for eleven clones (obtained from the samelatitudinal range as in experiment 1). We found high among clonal variation formost measured variables, but the number of latitude-correlated traits waslimited. The only trait that correlated with latitude was the number of leavesper plant, which increased in clones from higher latitudes.Our results agree with the hypothesis of a latitude-correlated switch inlife-cycle strategy for this species. For northern clones this results in ashort life-cycle, with an early and high investment in tuber biomass, while forlow latitude clones the length of the life-cycle is prolonged, with a delayedreproduction and increased total plant biomass.  相似文献

Asexual reproduction s. l. is widespread in plants and also a basic reproductive mechanism in bryophytes. Today, three types of asexual reproduction are recognized: (1) the asexual reproduction s. str. by regeneration from ± specialized caducous organs (leaves, leaf apices, shoots, branches, bulbils) and by production of specialized propagules (gemmae, protonemal brood cells, tubers), (2) fragmentation of plants, resp. part of plants into ± unspecialized fragments, and (3) clonal reproduction (cloning). The latter occurs in bryophytes by protonema decay, by disintegration of modules, resp. formation of ramets (dividuals, “daughter plants”) that leads to self-cloning or forced-cloning of parts of the gametophyte (shoots, stoloniferous and rhizomatous axes, rhizoid wicks, basiscopic innovation plants). Clonal reproduction (cloning), in former time scarcely noted, gained great interest within the last decade mainly in vascular plants showing clonal growth. This reproduction mechanism is thought to be a keystone factor for asexual reproduction, habitat colonization and habitat maintenance. Species which reproduce clonally are able to colonize and maintain habitats in an effective way by the so-called “consequent vegetative multiplication”. The review presents an overview of the current state of knowledge of asexual reproduction types in bryophytes, with a focus on fragmentation and clonal reproduction (cloning), the mechanisms of habitat colonization and habitat maintenance, which all are of important significance in the dynamic processes of development of bryophyte populations.  相似文献

This study was conducted to survey the distribution of asexual isolates of Pythium in rose production and to characterize and identify them. Asexual isolates with proliferating globose sporangia belong to group P according to the key of van der Plaats‐Niterink (1981; Monograph of the genus Pythium. Studies in Mycology, Vol. 21, Centraalbueau Voor Schimmelcultures, Baarn, The Netherlands). Group P isolates were recovered from rotted roots of both cutting and miniature roses cultured in rock wool and ebb‐and‐flow culture systems, respectively, throughout the main rose production area of Japan. The typical feature of the P group isolates was that they could grow fast at high temperature, at least 30 mm per 24 h at 35°C. There was no difference between the P group isolates and P. helicoides in morphology and size of sporangia and sporangial germination mode. The symptoms caused by the group P isolates were root rot, followed by leaf blight and plant death in severe cases. In restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the rDNA‐ITS region, the banding patterns with five of six enzymes were identical between group P and P. helicoides, the only difference being seen with HhaI. In direct amplification analysis of minisatellite‐region DNA with M13 primer, group P and P. helicoides shared three of five distinct bands. In contrast, P. oedochilum and P. ostracodes showed different banding patterns except for each one band. The results suggest that the group P isolates obtained from rose root rot may be asexual strains of P. helicoides.  相似文献

The spore germination,protonemal development,and gametophyte differentiation of Hypnum pacleseens were observed in cultivation.Photomicrographs showed that spore germination of Hypnum pacleseens occured within the exospore.Its protonema is massive with filamentous chloronema formed inside.The terminal part of the chloronema differentiated into filamentous caulonema and its rhizoid was derived from the apical cell of the filamentous chloronema.The initial cell of gametophyte differentiated from chloronema and caulonema.Sporeling type of Hypnum pacleseens is developmentally similar to Glyphmitrium-type.  相似文献

The distribution of cells preparing for proliferation during asexual reproduction by paratomy in Microstomum lineare (Turbellaria) was investigated using the technique of exogenous tritiated thymidine ([3H]T) labelling and routine electron microscopy. The subsequent fates of labelled cells in developing and mature zooids were followed by fixing tissues at various intervals. The only labelled cells are mesenchymal and gastrodermal neoblasts, occurring along the whole worm without any special growth zones or axial gradient. Organ primordia develop as a result of locally dividing as well as of migrating cells.  相似文献

The stages of Cryptosporidium parvum asexual exogenous development were investigated at high ultra-structural resolution in cell-free culture using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Early C. parvum trophozoites were ovoid in shape, 1.07 × 1.47 μm2 in size, and contained a large nucleus and adjacent Golgi complex. Dividing and mature meronts containing four to eight developing merozoites, 2.34 × 2.7 μm2 in size, were observed within the first 24 h of cultivation. An obvious peculiarity was found within the merozoite pellicle, as it was composed of the outer plasma membrane with underlying middle and inner membrane complexes. Further novel findings were vacuolization of the meront's residuum and extension of its outer pellicle, as parasitophorous vacuole-like membranes were also evident. The asexual reproduction of C. parvum was consistent with the developmental pattern of both eimerian coccidia and Arthrogregarinida (formerly Neogregarinida). The unique cell-free development of C. parvum described here, along with the establishment of meronts and merozoite formation, is the first such evidence obtained from in vitro cell-free culture at the ultrastructural level.  相似文献

采用经典分类学研究方法,对河北师范大学植物标本馆(HBNU)等国内多个标本馆保存的中国丝瓜藓属直蒴组(Pohlia Hedw.section Cacodon Lindb.ex Broth.)及其近缘类群植物标本共计130余号进行了分类学分析鉴定,并对所确定的中国产直蒴组物种的芽胞大小、形状及叶原基数量和长度等形态学特征进行比较分析,以期为中国丝瓜藓属直蒴组的分类学研究提供理论依据。结果表明:(1)经鉴定中国丝瓜藓属直蒴组植物共有8种——夭命丝瓜藓[Pohlia annotina(Hedw.)Lindb.]、糙枝丝瓜藓[P.camptotrachela(Ren.Card.)Broth.]、林地丝瓜藓[P.drummondii(Müll.Hal.)Andr.]、疣齿丝瓜藓[P.flexuosa Harv.]、纤毛丝瓜藓[P.hisae T.J.Kop.et J.X.Luo]、异芽丝瓜藓[P.leucostoma(BoschSande Lac.)M.Fleisch.]、念珠丝瓜藓[P.lutescens(Limpr.)H.Lindb.]和卵蒴丝瓜藓[P.proligera(Kindb.ex Breidl.)Lindb.ex Arnell]。(2)中国丝瓜藓属直蒴组植物的重要鉴别特征是在假根或叶腋处生有芽胞,而且芽胞形状以及叶原基形状和数量在直蒴组中存在差异,如念珠丝瓜藓具有假根生芽胞,而疣齿丝瓜藓具有两型芽胞。(3)对所鉴定的中国丝瓜藓属直蒴组8种植物的识别特征、生境及其与相近种的关系进行了详细描述,并绘制了形态特征墨线图。  相似文献

We studied the testate amoebae in the moss Hylocomium splendens along an altitudinal gradient from 1000 to 2200 m asl. in the south-eastern Alps of Italy in relation to micro- and macro-nutrient content of moss plants. Three mountainous areas were chosen, two of them characterised by calcareous bedrock, the third by siliceous bedrock. A total of 25 testate amoebae taxa were recorded, with a mean species richness of 9.3 per sampling plot. In a canonical correspondence analysis, 63.1% of the variation in the amoebae data was explained by moss tissue chemistry, namely by C, P, Ca, Mg, Al, Fe, and Na content and a binary site variable. We interpreted this result as an indirect effect of moss chemistry on testate amoebae through an influence on prey organisms. Although two species responded to altitude, there was no overall significant relationship between testate amoebae diversity or community structure and altitude, presumably because our sampling protocol aimed at minimizing the variability due to vegetation types and soil heterogeneity. This suggests that previous evidence of altitudinal or latitudinal effects on testate amoebae diversity may at least in part be due to a sampling bias, namely differences in soil type or moss species sampled.  相似文献

Individual size, rate of growth, and mode and frequency of asexual reproduction are life-history traits of primary importance for sea anemones. These traits determine sexual reproductive output, affect an individual's probability of survival, and are crucial in adapting an individual to its environmental surroundings. The sea anemone Metridium senile (L.) is highly variable in ecological distribution and life history, including rate of growth, individual size, and rate of asexual reproduction. Gonad size (measured as cross-sectional area of gonadal tissue) increases with body weight, so individuals should grow as large and as rapidly as possible to maximize individual sexual reproductive output. Cessation of growth and small body size in intertidal populations suggest that growth is constrained by genetic or environmental conditions. The growth of intertidal individuals transplanted to harbor-float panels demonstrated that growth limits are imposed by environmental factors, most probably limited food and feeding time and damage from wave exposure (which stimulates fragmentation). Individuals in harbor-float populations, which are continuously immersed, grow much larger, and large individuals comprise a greater proportion of the population than in the intertidal zone. The highest rate of fragmentation observed was on harbor-float panels. Patterns of growth and asexual reproduction provide adaptive advantages for M. senile. For harborfloat individuals, large individual size increases gamete production and may increase feeding efficiency. For intertidal individuals, asexual reproduction allows growth despite individual size constraints and rapid population growth, with specific advantages resulting from clone formation.  相似文献

  • Reproductive performance is known to differ between co‐sexual and non‐co‐sexual species. Thus, our aim was to determine whether: (i) the distance between sex structures is negatively associated with sex expression; (ii) male gametangia take longer to mature in rhizautoicous species than in gonioautoicous species; and (iii) the gonioautoicous sexual system has greater reproductive success (i.e. percentage of ramets with sporophyte) than the rhizautoicous sexual system.
  • One population each of the mosses Fissidens scariosus and F. submarginatus, rhizautoicous and gonioautoicous, respectively, in a remnant of Atlantic Forest in Brazil were sampled monthly from September 2016 until August 2017. The number and phenophases of antheridia, archegonia and sporophytes were analysed for each species. Sexual expression and reproductive success were calculated, and reproductive phenology compared across environmental variables.
  • As expected, sexual expression was significantly higher for the gonioautoicous species, which produced antheridia throughout the year and archegonia over many months, while gametangia production by the rhizautoicous species occurred only during the rainy season. Mean number of gametangia per perigonium and perichaetium were slightly higher for the rhizautoicous species (6.84 antheridia; 11.38 archegonia) than for the gonioautoicous species (4.39; 7.62). Gametangia and sporophyte production in the rhizautoicous species were markedly seasonal compared to that of the gonioautoicous species, although reproductive success did not differ.
  • Therefore, we infer that the rhizautoicy (i.e. a functional dioicy) promotes lower expression of gametangia compared to gonioautoicy but is more efficient and so obtains the same reproductive success.

Growth and reproduction are two essential life‐history traits for fungi. Understanding life‐history strategies provides insight into the environmental adaption of species. Here, we investigated the colonial morphology, vegetative growth, and asexual reproduction of the ascomycete fungus Bionectria ochroleuca in response to a variety of environmental conditions. We demonstrated that the increased temperature from 15 to 25°C induced mycelial growth and conidiation in B. ochroleuca. We also found that the optimal temperatures for mycelial growth and conidial formation in this fungus species were 25 and 30°C, respectively. However, as the temperature increased from 25 to 30°C, mycelial growth was suppressed, but the total number of conidia was significantly increased. The shift in light–dark cycles dramatically changed the morphological features of the colonies and affected both vegetative growth and asexual reproduction. Under incubation environments of alternating light and dark (16:8 and 8:16 light:dark cycles), conidiophores and conidia in the colonies formed dense‐sparse rings and displayed synchronous wave structures. When the light duration was prolonged in the sequence of 0, 8, 16, and 24 hr per day, mycelial growth was suppressed, but conidiation was promoted. Together, our results indicate that temperature and light period may trigger a trade‐off between vegetative growth and asexual reproduction in B. ochroleuca.  相似文献

Summary Six estimates of resource allocation to sexual reproduction (nectar concentration, nectar volume, sugar production, pollinator visitation rates, fruit-set, and seed production) and a single estimate of resource allocation to asexual reproduction (the rate of rooted-branch production) were examined for five species of Mimulus. There were significant interspecific differences for all paramaters. With the exception of nectar concentration, there was 1) a consistent positive correlation among the parameters measuring allocation to sexual reproduction, and 2) a significant negative correlation between parameters measuring allocation to sexual reproduction and the rate of rooted-branch production (asexual reproduction). The results indicate that Mimulus species which produce the highest volumes of nectar 1) receive the most pollinator visits, 2) have the highest fruit-set, 3) produce the most seeds, and 4) produce the fewest rooted branches.  相似文献
