Comparison of Tellurite Resistance and Tetracycline Resistance among the Enterococci

A correlation was found to exist between tellurite and tetracycline resistance in the enterococci.     

Drug Resistance of Staphylococci VI. Genetic Determinant for Chloramphenicol Resistance

Naturally occurring strains of staphylococci which are resistant to chloramphenicol (CM) inactivate this antibiotic. One of the inactivation products of CM showed the chromatographic behavior of 3-acetoxychloramphenicol. Induction of resistance occurred after prior exposure to subinhibitory concentrations of the antibiotic. The resistance of induced populations, as well as CM-inactivation ability, was decreased when they were grown in CM-free medium. The CM-inactivation property was transduced together with CM resistance. Transductional analysis and CM-resistance elimination experiments indicated that CM resistance in naturally occurring strains of staphylococci is mainly accounted for by inactivation of the drug.     

小麦秆锈抗性遗传及抗性基因研究进展

目前国际上已发现近80个小麦抗秆锈基因,其中45个抗秆锈基因已被正式定名,58个抗秆锈基因已定位在小麦特定染色体上,其中12个基因被标记。本文对小麦抗秆锈病基因抗源、抗秆锈性遗传、分子标记研究现状及存在问题加以综述,并对抗秆锈分子遗传前景进行展望。     

Cyanide Resistance in Achromobacter II. Mechanism of Cyanide Resistance.

Bacteriol. 90:744-747. 1965.-Photochemical data showed that the only oxidase found in the cyanide-sensitive cells of Achromobacter was cytochrome o, and that cyanide-resistant cells contained at least two oxidases. The oxidase responsible for cyanide resistance was a pigment the CO compound of which had its absorption band at a wavelength longer than 580 mmu. In addition, kinetic data suggested that there were two oxidases having different affinities for cyanide. From the data presented, resistance to cyanide in Achromobacter strain D was attributed to the induced formation of cytochrome a(2), which has a very low affinity for cyanide. Several characteristics of cytochrome a(2) as a cytochrome oxidase are summarized.     

紫珠耐热抗旱性初步研究

针对武汉地区夏季高温干旱的气候特点,分别在室内人工模拟高温和干旱的条件下,对紫珠的耐热性和抗旱性进行了初步研究。结果表明:紫珠有一定的耐高温干旱能力,能忍受45℃高温连续9天和持续9天的干旱,是一种较好的新型园林节水耐旱观果灌木。     

Drug Resistance of Staphylococci

Induction of chloramphenicol (CM) resistance in Staphylococcus aureus was investigated using 166 CM derivatives and analogues. It was found that 18 compounds of the samples used were able to induce resistance to CM in Staphylococcus aureus S1477 harboring an inducible CM-resistance determinant. Most of the samples which had a nitrophenyl moiety and a D- or DL-threo isomer in its steric configuration were found to have inducer activity for CM resistance. Competent inducers are D-isomer CM derivatives which have another substituent in place of the hydroxyl group at carbon atom 3 in the propanediol of the drug.
