Summary Reciprocal transfer of sealed drone brood between colonies ofApis cerana andApis koschevnikovi was successful and resulted in four colonies (two of each species) with a mixed drone population. Flights ofApis cerana drones occurred between 14.00 and 16.15 regardless whether they were in a conspecific or alien colony.Apis koschevnikovi drones also flew at their species specific time from 16.45 to 18.30. A variance estimation revealed that 99.4% of the total variance depended on the species of the drone. In contrast to theApis drone's general biological dependence upon the colony, crossfostered drones ofApis cerana andApis koschevnikovi showed an unexpected autonomy in chosing their mating flight time.  相似文献

为分析澜沧江流域北部人食用蜂蜜中毒的原因,于2013年6—9月份,对该区域蜜蜂和蜜源植物的分布情况进行了调查,观察蜜蜂采集有毒蜜源植物的行为,并进一步调查了蜜蜂巢内蜂蜜、蜂花粉的储存情况,采集了中华蜜蜂蜂蜜样品,进行蜂蜜孢粉学与营养生态位分析。该区域有大量采用传统方式进行人工饲养的中华蜜蜂(Apis cerana cerana),及少量野生中华蜜蜂、黑色小蜜蜂(Apis audreniformis)、黑色大蜜蜂(Apis laboriosa smith)群体分布;人工饲养的中华蜜蜂蜂巢内部结构与野生中华蜜蜂蜂巢相似,为自然蜂巢,内有充足的蜜粉储存,部分蜂群蜂巢内虫害严重。该区域内主要蜜源植物为荞麦(Fagopyrum esculentum Moench),其他零星辅助蜜源较多,部分地点南烛(Vaccinium bracteatum Thunb)、昆明山海棠(Tripterygium hypoglaucum(Levl.)Hutch)连片集中分布。对中华蜜蜂蜂蜜进行孢粉学和营养生态位分析,结果表明:中华蜜蜂蜂蜜标本中含有有毒蜜源植物南烛、昆明山海棠花粉,部分样品中南烛、昆明山海棠的花粉含所占比例较高;中华蜜蜂的营养生态位宽度为0.22,比其他地区中华蜜蜂生态位指数小,推测澜沧江水电枢纽的修建等人为原因已对蜜蜂种类、蜜源植物的物种组成、群落结构造成了较大影响。  相似文献

秦岭岩白菜的传粉生物学特性与繁育系统   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
对珍稀濒危植物秦岭岩白菜(Bergenia scopulosa T.P.Wang)的开花特性、传粉适应及繁育系统进行了分析研究。结果表明:(1)秦岭岩白菜为蝎尾状聚伞花序,具(29±10)朵单花,单花期约15d,遇低温雨雪天气花冠闭合,可延长3~5d,花序花期约30d,种群花期近4个月。(2)花粉活力在花药开裂后的12h内最高(约90%),维持单花平均花粉活力在30%以上约6d;柱头在第1~4天内保持很强的可授性,维持可授性的时间约为9d。(3)秦岭岩白菜主要有效传粉昆虫为中华蜜蜂,平均访花频率为6.5朵/min,单花停留时间为(11.0±4.8)s。(4)秦岭岩白菜的花粉胚珠比(P/O)为589.8,杂交指数(OCI)为3;人工授粉实验显示,秦岭岩白菜不存在无融合生殖,自交亲和,主动自交罕见,生殖成功主要依赖传粉者。研究认为,秦岭岩白菜是兼性异交的繁育系统,胚珠受精过程中可能存在自交衰退。  相似文献

Foraging behaviour of four honeybee species (Apis mellifera A. cerana, A. dorsata and A, florea) was studied in relation to energy production rates of Prunus persica and a simultaneously blooming weed, Lepidagathus incurva. Energy produced ranged from a minimum of 0.642±0.01 joules (L. /“cwrra)/flower/day to a maximum of 1.49±0.14 joules/day (P. persico). The weed having higher nectar sugar concentration and high flowering density attracted more number of bees as compared to peach. The foraging rates of bees were much higher on the weed and they could harvest more energy per unit time from the weed flowers. Evidently, food acquisition efficiency and quality of food determines the foraging decision of bees.  相似文献

The significance of single flower visits by pollinators on the reproductive success of the Scotch broom, Cytisus scoparius, with explosive flowers was investigated. Unexploded flowers (intact flowers) produced no fruit, implying that autonomous selfing and apomixis do not occur and that the explosion of flowers by insects is necessary for the fertilization of flowers. The fruit set in the natural condition was intermediate between that in artificial selfing or exploding and that in artificial outcrossing. Seed set and the ratio of seeds to ovules did not differ significantly between the natural condition and artificial outcrossing. The fruit set by a single flower visit from Apis mellifera was similar to natural conditions. Apis mellifera was the most frequent visitor and the number of flowers tripped open per hour was the highest among all the flower visitors. Approximately 75% of pollen on a flower disappeared in a single flower visit by A.mellifera. The small amount of pollen remaining on already-exploded flowers appears to be the reason why A.mellifera do not frequently visit already-exploded flowers. The higher seed set by outcrossing was believed to contribute to the seed set in both natural conditions and single flower visits by A.mellifera, and did not differ between them. Therefore, at least in Japan, A.mellifera appears to be the most important pollinator for C.scoparius, resulting in a high outcrossing rate with each single flower visit.  相似文献

【目的】本研究旨在探究长链非编码RNA (long non-coding RNA, lncRNA)在中华蜜蜂(Apis cerana cerana,简称中蜂)6日龄幼虫应答蜜蜂球囊菌(Ascosphaera apis,简称球囊菌)侵染过程中的差异表达谱及调控作用。【方法】利用链特异性cDNA建库的RNA-seq技术对未被侵染及球囊菌侵染的中蜂6日龄幼虫肠道(AcCK和AcT)进行深度测序。通过相关生物信息学软件分析lncRNA的结构特征和表达谱。筛选并分析差异表达lncRNA (differentially expressed lncRNA,DElncRNA)的顺式(cis)作用及竞争性内源RNA (competing endogenous RNA, ceRNA)调控网络。采用RT-qPCR验证测序数据及DElncRNA差异变化趋势的可靠性。【结果】AcCK和AcT共预测出642个已知lncRNA和487个新lncRNA。与蛋白编码基因相比,上述中蜂lncRNA外显子数更少、长度更短且表达量更低。43个antisenselncRNA与40个正义链mRNA之间互补配对。AcCK和AcT比...  相似文献

分别从中华蜜蜂Apis cerana cerana和意大利蜜蜂Apis mellifera工蜂毒腺中抽提总RNA,通过RT-PCR方法扩增,各得到了蜂毒前溶血肽原蛋白的cDNA,再将扩增产物克隆到pGEM-Teasy载体上,进行测序和序列分析。结果表明,所扩增到的这两个片段长度均为213 bp,均为编码蜂毒前溶血肽原的cDNA,并分别推导出两者所编码的氨基酸序列。经序列比较,中华蜜蜂前溶血肽原与意大利蜜蜂、印度蜜蜂Apis cerana indica前溶血肽原的同源性都为97%。所报道的中华蜜蜂蜂毒前溶血肽原的核苷酸序列的GenBank登录号为AF487907。  相似文献

采用中华蜜蜂Apis cerana cerana F.临床自然发病的欧洲幼虫腐臭病(European Foulbrood, EFB)幼虫,对其病原体进行了分离鉴定。结果表明:中华蜜蜂EFB的病原系蜂房蜜蜂球菌Melissococcus pluton。该菌为革兰氏阳性的兼性厌氧菌,形态学及染色特性、致病性试验、血清学试验和细菌DNA G+C mol%试验均证明中华蜜蜂和西方蜜蜂的EFB病原属于同属的蜂房蜜蜂球菌。生理生化特性结果与国外的早期研究结果相近似。该试验为不同地理位置、不同种寄主间蜂房蜜蜂球菌的遗传差异的研究,以及中华蜜蜂EFB病的防治学研究打下基础。  相似文献

深入了解濒危物种的繁殖特性,能为物种制定有效保护策略提供科学依据。于2022和2023年对中国科学院西双版纳热带植物园迁地保存的纹瓣兰(Cymbidium aloifolium)的繁殖生物学特征进行了观察和研究,主要包括开花物候、繁育系统、花部形态特征、昆虫传粉特征以及花的挥发性成分等。结果表明,纹瓣兰的盛花期在4月中旬,单花花期7 d;群体花期约为36 d。花粉活力在开花第1天时最高,约为47.15%,之后呈下降趋势。柱头在整个单花期一直具可授性,开花第2天可授性最强。人工授粉实验表明纹瓣兰自交亲和,不存在无融合生殖和自动自花授粉,繁育系统属于兼性异交繁育并依赖传粉者,自然结实率较低为6.9%。唇瓣的先端和基部的表皮细胞分别为锥形和指状突起,基部的指状突起细胞外附着有油脂颗粒,可能是传粉者的报酬。药帽黄色,其表皮细胞为锥形细胞,能够反射光线,可能起到吸引昆虫的作用,中华蜜蜂(Apis cerana)是纹瓣兰唯一的有效传粉昆虫。纹瓣兰的挥发性气味中(E)-乙酸-2-癸烯-1-醇酯含量最高。因此,纹瓣兰的花部结构与传粉昆虫具有显著的适应性。  相似文献

为了明确中华蜜蜂和意大利蜜蜂在皖南山区生态适应性,研究两种蜜蜂的食物生态位、时间生态位和空间生态位及其差异,结果是中蜂与意蜂食物(蜜源植物)资源生态位宽度分别是 0.923、0.765,中蜂对蜜源植物采集喜好性差异小,而意蜂差异大,中蜂对意蜂生态位重迭为0.160,中蜂对意蜂生态位相似性为0.755;油菜花期,中蜂与意蜂时间资源生态位宽度分别是0.879、0.801,枇杷花期,分别是0.760、0.677,中蜂与意蜂的空间资源生态位宽度分别是0.797、0.670.中蜂3种生态位宽度均大于意蜂,中蜂三维生态位值是意蜂的1.61倍和1.57倍.表明中蜂在皖南山区生态适应性比意蜂强.  相似文献

构建中华蜜蜂(Apis cerana cerana)8日龄工蜂头部cDNA文库,利用中蜂基因组的mrjp3部分基因片段作为杂交探针,采用DIG标记筛选cDNA文库,获得mrjps阳性克隆120个;对阳性克隆进行PCR扩增和测序,通过NCBI的BLAST序列比对,获得12个与印度蜂(Apis cerana india)、西方蜜蜂(Apis mellifera L.)mrjp1基因同源的中蜂mtjp1 cDNA片段,并进一步对中华蜜蜂mrjp1的cDNA全序列进行测定和分析。序列比对分析表明,东方蜜蜂(Apis cerana)与西方蜜蜂mrjp1的cDNA序列相似性为93.78%,中华蜜蜂与印度蜂的相似性高达99.36%,这一结果从分子水平证实中华蜜蜂与印度蜂有较近的共同祖先,而东方蜜蜂与西方蜜蜂的亲缘关系较远。  相似文献

Recently, it was argued that extrinsic factors, such as high foraging costs, lead to elevated field metabolic rates (FMR). We tested this suggestion by comparing the FMR of nectar-feeding and fruit-eating bats. We hypothesized that the foraging effort per energy reward is higher for nectar-feeding mammals than for fruit-eating mammals, since energy rewards at flowering plants are smaller than those at fruiting plants. Using the doubly labelled water method, we measured the FMR of nectar-feeding Glossophaga commissarisi and fruit-eating Carollia brevicauda, which coexisted in the same rainforest habitat and shared the same daytime roosts. Mass-specific FMR of G. commissarisi exceeded that of C. brevicauda by a factor of almost two: 5.3±0.6 kJ g−1 day−1 for G. commissarisi and 2.8±0.4 kJ g−1 day−1 for C. brevicauda. Since nectar-feeding bats imbibe nectar droplets of only 193 J energy content during each flower visit, a G. commissarisi bat has to perform several 100 flower visits per night to meet its energy requirement. The fruit-eating C. brevicauda, on the other hand, needs to harvest only 3–12 Piper infructescenses per night, as the energy reward per Piper equals ca. 6–30 kJ. We argue that the flowering and fruiting plants exert different selective forces on the foraging behaviour and energetics of pollinators and the seed dispersers, respectively. A comparison between nectar-feeding and non-nectar-feeding species in various vertebrate taxa demonstrates that pollinators have elevated FMRs.  相似文献

  • 1 Directional movement by foraging honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) was studied on several flower arrays. The most frequent move among equidistant flower stalks was straight ahead from stalk to stalk with frequencies decreasing for increasing turn angles. Turns to the left were about equal in frequency to turns to the right.
  • 2 Bees maintained directionality when moving from flower stalks that had been rotated 90° counterclockwise while the bee was on the stalk (no difference between moves from rotated stalks and unrotated controls). Thus, directionality is maintained by the bee and is not an artefact of flower distribution.
  • 3 Bees also maintained directionality when the entire array was rotated around the flower stalk the bee was on. Thus, bees use an external cue to orientate in a given direction rather than fixing on an inflorescence within the flower array.
  • 4 Bees foraging on very different flower arrays differed in patterns of directionality and in distances flown between flower stalks. Therefore, even though bees maintain directionality using external cues, flower distribution can nevertheless influence flight patterns.

The primary pollinator of Polynesian heliconias,Heliconia laufao andH. paka, is the Wattled Honeyeater,Foulehaio carunculata. This report is the first documentation of pollination by honeyeaters in the genusHeliconia and the first record ofF. carunculata as a pollinator of a plant species. The Polynesian heliconias bear inflorescences that produce 2–4 hermaphroditic flowers per day for a period of 2–3 months. Each flower secretes abundant nectar (125–184 l) with low sugar concentration (15–18% sucrose-equivalents, weight per weight basis) which is available at anthesis just before dawn. Ninety percent of flower visits occur between anthesis and mid-morning. The honeyeaters perch on inflorescence bracts, and probing of the flower results in pollen deposition on the head and bill from where pollen is transferred between flowers. No statements on compatibility can be made forHeliconia paka; however,Heliconia laufao appears to be self-compatible. Calculations of energetic values of nectar of the Polynesian heliconias and Daily Energy Expenditures ofF. carunculata suggest that populations ofH. laufao andH. paka serve as rich energy resources for their pollinators.  相似文献

Analyses of the search patterns of ApisMellifera workers foraging on artificial inflorescences and Bombus Pennsylvanicusqueens foraging on inflorescences of red clover are used to identify a general rule specifying intrapatch search patterns. Bees land, move about the inflorescences in search of nectar, and come to a last-faced position from which takeoff occurs. Last-faced directions are generated by a forward-moving tendency while probing artificial inflorescences or real florets. This tendency is modulated by restricted bee locomotion, caused by the size and shape of the visited inflorescence and the spatial distribution of florets within such inflorescences. The result is that bees tend to circle inflorescences. The process is terminated with an undefined stopping rule, whereupon bees usually depart in the direction they last face. The last-faced direction is a by-product of intrafloral search and becomes less associated with arrival directions as intrafloral search continues. Pollinator flight directionality is usually represented as a frequency distribution of angular changes in direction which typically has a mean near 0° and a variance that increases with increases in energy gain. We show that these characteristics are artifacts of pooling mirror-image movement data sets;a mean of 0° is the result of canceling the means of the left- and right-hand turns. The putative increased variance associated with energy gain is the result of adding the variances associated with left- and right-handed turns. These computational artifacts may be avoided by changing the sign of the left-handed turns prior to pooling with the right-handed turns (or vice versa). Pooling bee visits based only on the number of florets probed can destroy information relevant to studies examining behavioral mechanisms of flight directionality. Analytical problems encountered when turns exceed 360° are also addressed.  相似文献

Flexible pedicels are characteristic of birdpollinated plants, yet have received little attention in studies of hummingbird-flower interactions. A major implication of flexible pedicels is that flowers may move during pollination. We examined whether such motion affected interactions between ruby-throated hummingbirds (Archilochus colubris) and jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) by increasing pollen deposition and by altering the effectiveness of nectar removal. For I. capensis, flower mobility enhanced pollen deposition: birds had significantly longer contact with anthers and more pollen deposited on their bills and crowns when foraging at mobile flowers than at flowers that had been experimentally immobilized. In contrast, flower mobility imposed a cost on hummingbirds by significantly increasing their handling times and reducing their extraction rates relative to their interactions with immobile flowers. Field observations indicated that the motion observed during hummingbird visits did not occur when bees (Bombus spp., Apis mellifera) visited I. capensis flowers, which suggests that the mobility of I. capensis flowers is an adaptation for hummingbird pollination.  相似文献

The possible significance of nestmate recognition in prevention of robbing and parasitism in three species of stingless bees was assessed. Nestmate discrimination abilities vary among them; Melipona quadrifasciataworkers attacked 74% of nonnestmate conspecifics that were encountered, while M. scutellarisand M. rufiventriswere less discriminating, attacking only 14 and 60% of non-nestmates, respectively. In tests of interspecific interactions, M. quadrifasciataand M. scutellariswere the least mutually tolerant of all species pairs tested. Tests with Apis melliferashowed a high degree of intolerance by two of the three Meliponaspecies.  相似文献

Honeybees Apis mellifera were trained to distinguish between the presence and the absence of a rewarded coloured spot, presented on a vertical, achromatic plane in a Y-maze. They were subsequently tested with different subtended visual angles of that spot, generated by different disk diameters and different distances from the decision point in the device. Bees were trained easily to detect bee-chromatic colours, but not an achromatic one. Chromatic contrast was not the only parameter allowing learning and, therefore, detection: min, the subtended visual angle at which the bees detect a given stimulus with a probability P 0 = 0.6, was 5° for stimuli presenting both chromatic contrast and contrast for the green photoreceptors [i.e. excitation difference in the green photoreceptors, between target and background (green contrast)], and 15° for stimuli presenting chromatic but no green contrast. Our results suggest that green contrast can be utilized for target detection if target recognition has been established by means of the colour vision system. The green-contrast signal would be used as a far-distance signal for flower detection. This signal would always be detected before chromatic contrast during an approach flight and would be learned in compound with chromatic contrast, in a facilitation-like process.  相似文献

Bees foraging for nectar should choose different inflorescences from those foraging for both pollen and nectar, if inflorescences consist of differing proportions of male and female flowers, particularly if the sex phases of the flowers differ in nectar content as well as the occurrence of pollen. This study tested this prediction using worker honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) foraging on inflorescences of Lavandula stoechas. Female flowers contained about twice the volume of nectar of male flowers. As one would predict, bees foraging for nectar only chose inflorescences with disproportionately more female flowers: time spent on the inflorescence was correlated with the number of female flowers, but not with the number of male flowers. Inflorescence size was inversely correlated with the number of female flowers, and could be used as a morphological cue by these bees. Also as predicted, workers foraging for both pollen and nectar chose inflorescences with relatively greater numbers of both male and female flowers: time spent on these inflorescences was correlated with the number of male flowers, but not with the number of females flowers. A morphological cue inversely associated with such inflorescences is the size of the bract display. Choice of flowers within inflorescences was also influenced predictably, but preferences appeared to be based upon corolla size rather than directly on sex phase.  相似文献

Summary In the dance language of the western honeybee,Apis mellifera, airborne near field sound signals and a sense of hearing are used to communicate the locations of food sources. In the Asian honeybeeApis dorsata similar acoustical signals have been found recently, whereasApis florea does not emit dance sounds to transfer information about the location of food sources. The aim of the present study was to investigate the sense of hearing in these two species. Operant conditioning experiments reveal that both species are able to detect such near field sounds. The results support the hypothesis of acoustical communication inApis dorsata. The auditory sense ofApis florea, which does not use acoustical signals in the dance language, is discussed as a preadaptation for the evolution of an acoustical dance communication in ancestral honeybees.  相似文献
