Peucelinendiol,a new acyclic diterpenoid from Peucedanum oreoselinum

A new diterpenoid has been isolated from roots of Peucedanum oreoselinum. Mainly by spectroscopic methods, its structure is shown to be (+)-(E)-7-hydroxymethyl-2,6,10,14-tetramethyl-2,9,13-pentadecatrien-6-ol, yet without specification of stereochemistry at C-6 and C-7. Furthermore the roots afforded a high yield of falcarindiol, (+)-(Z)-heptadeca-1,9-dien-4,6-diyn-3,8-diol.     

Furanocoumarins from Heracleum canescens

The ethanolic extract of the fresh roots of Heracleum canescens has afforded, besides sitosterol, osthol, methyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate and 11 furanocoumarins.     

Four new coumarins from the roots of Peucedanum arenarium

The roots of Peucedanum arenarium var. arenarium revealed the presence of 4 new natural coumarins. By spectral data their structures were elucidated as follows: peuarin, 3′-angeloyl-4′-methylisokhellactone; peuchlorin, 3′-angeloyl-4′-(2″-hydroxy-2″-methyl-3″-chloro)-butyroylisokhellactone; peuchlorinin, 3′-(2″-methylepoxy)-butyroyl-4′-(2″-hydroxy-2″-methyl-3″-chloro)-butyroylisokhellactone; peucloridin 3′,4′-di-(2″-hydroxy-2″-methyl-3″-chloro)-butyroylisokhellactone.     

Furocoumarins from Angelica pachycarpa

A novel furocoumarin isolated from unripe fruits of Angelica pachycarpa has been characterized as (+)-tert- O-methylbyakangelicin. (+)-tert-O-Methyloxypeucedanin hydrate, neobyakangelicol, (±)-byakangelicol, (+)-byakangelicin, phellopterin, isoimperatorin, oxypeucedanin, oxypeucedanin hydrate, pangeline and umbelliprenin were also identified along with (±)-byakangelicin monoacetate, which proved to be an artifact.

From the ethyl acetate extract of the fresh roots of Angelica officinalis var. himaliaca, besides sitosterol, pregnenolone, peucenin-7-methyl ether, osthol and 18 furanocoumarins have been characterized by spectroscopic methods, including ¹³C NMR, and some chemical transformations.     

前胡属（Peucedanum L.）血清分类学研究

利用琼脂板双扩散沉淀反应对我国前胡属（Peucedanum L.)13种2变种的叶片蛋白质进行了血清学分析,根据血清相似性将所分析的种类分成5个类群,其中石防风（p.terebinthaceum(Fisch)Fisch.ex Turcz.]刺尖前胡（p.elegans Komarov)和白花前胡（p.praeruptorum Dunn)各自为一类群,其余种类分别以华北前胡（p.harry-smithii Fedde ex Wolff)和华山前胡（p.ledebourielloides K.T.Fu)为代表分成二个类群,结合形态,地理等资料,分别讨论了各血清学类群的种间关系和分类学问题。     

Essential oil from herb and rhizome of Peucedanum ostruthium (L. Koch.) ex DC

Essential oil from herb and rhizome of Peucedanum ostruthium (L.Koch.) ex DC underwent qualitative and quantitative analyses. The content of the oil obtained by hydrodistillation was 0.95% in the herb and 1.25% in the rhizome (per dry weight basis). Gas chromatography (GC) with MS detection and flame ionisation detection showed that the oil from the rhizome contains 39 compounds, of which 29 were identified. Gas chromatography with flame ionisation detection in chiral columns against standard compounds showed the presence of enantiomers of some of the components of the oil. Compounds present in largest quantities are: sabinene (35.2%) of which (+) sabinene accounts for (96.54%) and 4-terpineol (26.6%) of which (+) 4-terpineol accounts for (65.8%). 44 components were found in the herb essential oil, of which 39 compounds were identified. Compounds present in largest quantities were beta-caryophyllene (16.1%) and alpha-humulene (15.8%). The content of sabinene in the herb oil was 4.7%. The following compounds were present in the herb oil only as enantiomers: (+) sabinene (4.7%), (-) limonene (4.4%), (-) beta-pinene (0.4%). A coumarin (osthole) was detected in both essential oils (5.5% in herb oil and 5.1% in rhizome oil).     

Furanocoumarins in seeds of wild and cultivated parsnip

The furanocoumarin content of ripe seeds of seven cultivars of Pastinaca sativa was compared to that of ripe seeds from a naturalized population in central Illinois. Five furanocoumarins were identified and quantified in the intact seeds. While seeds of wild and cultivated plants contain furanocoumarin components in identical proportions, seeds from wild plants contain almost three times the quantity of furanocoumarins on a dry weight basis as do seeds of cultivars.     

Systematic relationships within and between Peucedanum and Angelica (Umbelliferae–Peucedaneae) inferred from immunological studies of seed proteins

 Immunochemical investigation of the seed storage proteins of some large genera in the tribe Peucedaneae (Umbelliferae) has clearly demonstrated the heterogeneity of Angelica and Peucedanum and the comparative homogeneity of Ferula. Among the taxa included in Angelica, Ostericum appears to be the most distant from the type species A. sylvestris, and should be treated as an independent genus. On the contrary, Archangelica is serologically similar to Angelica s. str. A rather complicated picture has been revealed within Peucedanum s. l. Serotaxonomical studies show a relationship pattern largely corresponding to the infrageneric classification of Thellung (1926). The splitting of satellite genera from Peucedanum s. l. is only partially supported. Received June 25, 2002; accepted October 3, 2002     

Furanosesquiterpenes from the fruits of Smyrnium cordifolium

In addition to two known furanogermacranes, a new furanogermacrane and a new and highly unstable furanoeremophilane were obtained from the fruits of Smyrnium cordifolium. The latter compound could be the precursor of a number of eremophilanolides obtained from some other Smyrnium species.     

Sesquiterpene lactones from Smyrnium cordifolium

In addition to previously obtained furanosesquiterpenes, two new eudesmanolides and a new glechomanolide were isolated from the fruits of Smyrnium cordifolium, while the roots gave two new eudesmanolides. The new compounds from the fruits were 1β-acetoxy-eudesman-4(15), 7(11)-dien-8,12-olide, 1β-acetoxy-8β-hydroxy-eudesman-4(15),7(11)-dien-8,12-olide, 1β,10α;4α,5β-diepoxy-8-hydroxy-glechomanolide, those obtained from the roots were smyrnicordiolide and the corresponding 8β-hydroxy derivative belonging to a new type of oxepine derivative.     

Oxepine derivatives from the roots of Smyrnium rotundifolium

Besides the known eudesmanolides and oxepine derivatives we have isolated two new oxepine type sesquiterpene lactones from the roots of Smyrnium rotundifolium. The new compounds were smyrnicordi-8-enolide and isosmyrnicordiolide, its stereochemistry at C-8 and C-10 could not be established.     

Desangeloylshairidin,a sesquiterpene lactone from Guillonea scabra

From the roots of Guillonea scabra a new sesquiterpene lactone has been isolated. Its structure has been established by spectroscopic means as desangeloylshairidin.
