The purpose of this meta-analysis was to attempt to gain a clear picture of the magnitude of sprint performance improvements expected after chronic plyometric training (PT) and to identify specific factors that influence the treatment effects. Studies employing a PT intervention and containing data necessary to calculate effect size (ES) were included in the analysis. A total of 26 studies with a total of 56 ES met the inclusion criterion. Analysis of ES demonstrated that the strategies that seem to maximize the probability of obtaining significantly (p < 0.05) greater improvement in sprint performance included training volume for <10 weeks; a minimum of 15 sessions; and high-intensity programs with >80 combined jumps per session. To optimize sprint enhancement, the combination of different types of plyometrics and the use of training programs that incorporate greater horizontal acceleration (i.e., sprint-specific plyometric exercises, jumps with horizontal displacement) would be recommended, rather than using only one form of jump training (p < 0.05). No extra benefits were found to be gained from doing plyometrics with added weight. The loading parameters identified in this analysis should be considered by the professional sprinters and specialized trainers with regard to the most appropriate dose-response trends PT to optimized sprint performance gains.  相似文献

The purpose of this investigation was to examine the combined effects of resistance and sprint/plyometric training with or without the Meridian Elyte athletic shoe on muscular performance in women. Fourteen resistance-trained women were randomly assigned to one of 2 training groups: (a) an athletic shoe (N = 6) (AS) group or (b) the Meridian Elyte (N = 8) (MS) group. Training was performed for 10 weeks and consisted of resistance training for 2 days per week and 2 days per week of sprint/plyometric training. Linear periodized resistance training consisted of 5 exercises per workout (4 lower body, 1 upper body) for 3 sets of 3-12 repetition maximum (RM). Sprint/plyometric training consisted of 5-7 exercises per workout (4-5 plyometric exercises, 40-yd and 60-yd sprints) for 3-6 sets with gradually increasing volume (8 weeks) followed by a 2-week taper phase. Assessments for 1RM squat and bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, sprint speed, and body composition were performed before and following the 10-week training period. Significant increases were observed in both AS and MS groups in 1RM squat (12.0 vs. 14.6 kg), bench press (6.8 vs. 7.4 kg), vertical jump height (3.3 vs. 2.3 cm), and broad jump (17.8 vs. 15.2 cm). Similar decreases in peak 20-, 40-, and 60-m sprint times were observed in both groups (20 m: 0.14 vs. 0.11 seconds; 40 m: 0.29 vs. 0.34 seconds; 60 m: 0.45 vs. 0.46 seconds in AS and MS groups, respectively). However, when sprint endurance (the difference between the fastest and slowest sprint trials) was analyzed, there was a significantly greater improvement at 60 m in the MS group. These results indicated that similar improvements in peak sprint speed and jumping ability were observed following 10 weeks of training with either shoe. However, high-intensity sprint endurance at 60 m increased to a greater extent during training with the Meridian Elyte athletic shoe.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of combined strength and plyometric training with strength training alone on power-related measurements in professional soccer players. Subjects in the intervention team were randomly divided into 2 groups. Group ST (n = 6) performed heavy strength training twice a week for 7 weeks in addition to 6 to 8 soccer sessions a week. Group ST+P (n = 8) performed a plyometric training program in addition to the same training as the ST group. The control group (n = 7) performed 6 to 8 soccer sessions a week. Pretests and posttests were 1 repetition maximum (1RM) half squat, countermovement jump (CMJ), squat jump (SJ), 4-bounce test (4BT), peak power in half squat with 20 kg, 35 kg, and 50 kg (PP20, PP35, and PP50, respectively), sprint acceleration, peak sprint velocity, and total time on 40-m sprint. There were no significant differences between the ST+P group and ST group. Thus, the groups were pooled into 1 intervention group. The intervention group significantly improved in all measurements except CMJ, while the control group showed significant improvements only in PP20. There was a significant difference in relative improvement between the intervention group and control group in 1RM half squat, 4BT, and SJ. However, a significant difference between groups was not observed in PP20, PP35, sprint acceleration, peak sprinting velocity, and total time on 40-m sprint. The results suggest that there are no significant performance-enhancing effects of combining strength and plyometric training in professional soccer players concurrently performing 6 to 8 soccer sessions a week compared to strength training alone. However, heavy strength training leads to significant gains in strength and power-related measurements in professional soccer players.  相似文献

We examined the effects of 2 plyometric training programs, equalized for training volume, followed by a 4-week recovery period of no plyometric training on anaerobic power and vertical jump performance. Physically active, college-aged men were randomly assigned to either a 4-week (n = 19, weight = 73.4 +/- 7.5 kg) or a 7-week (n = 19, weight = 80.1 +/- 12.5 kg) program. Vertical jump height, vertical jump power, and anaerobic power via the Margaria staircase test were measured pretraining (PRE), immediately posttraining (POST), and 4 weeks posttraining (POST-4). Vertical jump height decreased in the 4-week group PRE (67.8 +/- 7.9 cm) to POST (65.4 +/- 7.8 cm). Vertical jump height increased from PRE to POST-4 in 4-week (67.8 +/- 7.9 to 69.7 +/- 7.6 cm) and 7-week (64.6 +/- 6.2 to 67.2 +/- 7.6 cm) training programs. Vertical jump power decreased in the 4-week group from PRE (8,660.0 +/- 546.5 W) to POST (8,541.6 +/- 557.4 W) with no change in the 7-week group. Vertical jump power increased PRE to POST-4 in 4-week (8,660.0 +/- 546.5 W to 8,793.6 +/- 541.4 W) and 7-week (8,702.8 +/- 527.4 W to 8,931.5 +/- 537.6 W) training programs. Anaerobic power improved in the 7-week group from PRE (1,121.9 +/- 174.7 W) to POST (1,192.2 +/- 189.1 W) but not the 4-week group. Anaerobic power significantly improved PRE to POST-4 in both groups. There were no significant differences between the 2 training groups. Four-week and 7-week plyometric programs are equally effective for improving vertical jump height, vertical jump power, and anaerobic power when followed by a 4-week recovery period. However, a 4-week program may not be as effective as a 7-week program if the recovery period is not employed.  相似文献

The regional blood flow response (via radioactive microspheres) was determined for female rats after 6 wk of high-intensity sprint training (HIST) or limited cage activity as the animals exercised at work loads that would elicit maximal O2 uptake. Blood flow to the different organs of the abdominal region was greatly reduced during maximal exercise conditions, and the magnitude of the reduction appeared to be similar for both the HIST group of rats and their sedentary (SED) control counterparts. Of the 20 different hindlimb muscles examined in the present study, blood flow to the soleus, plantaris, gastrocnemius, flexor hallicus longus, vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, biceps femoris, and adductor magnus and brevis muscles was significantly greater (P less than 0.05) in the HIST rats during maximal exercise conditions than in the SED control rats. Correspondingly, blood flow to the total hindlimb during maximal exercise was also significantly greater in the HIST rats than in the SED control rats [240 +/- 18 vs. 192 +/- 15 (SE) ml.min-1.100 g-1]. These results support the contention that the increase in maximal cardiac output that is produced by HIST in the rat is primarily directed toward the working skeletal muscle and not toward the organs found in the abdominal region. We conclude from these experiments that HIST will produce significant adaptations in central cardiac function and skeletal muscle blood flow in the rat.  相似文献

Plyometric training is a popular method by which athletes may increase power and explosiveness. However, plyometric training is considered a highly intense and potentially damaging activity particularly if practiced by the novice individual or if overdone. The purpose of this study was to compare vertical jump performance after land- and aquatic-based plyometric training. A convenience sample of 21 active, college-age (24 +/- 2.5 years) men were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 groups: group I, aquatic; group II, land; and group III, control. Training for the AQ and LN groups consisted of a 10-minute warm-up followed by 3 sets of 15 squat jumps, side hops, and knee-tuck jumps separated by 1-minute rests. The aquatic group performed the exercises in knee-level water adjusted to parallel the axis of the knee joint (+1 in.). The land group performed identical plyometric exercises on land. The control group engaged in no training. Participants trained twice a week for 6 weeks, and all training sessions were monitored. Pre- and post-test data were collected on maximum vertical jump height. A 2x3 analysis of variance with repeated measures was used to compare vertical jump height among the 3 groups. Results suggested that the aquatic- and land-based groups significantly (p < 0.05) outperformed the control group in the vertical jump. No significant difference was found in vertical jump performance between the aquatic- and land-based groups. It was concluded that aquatic training resulted in similar training effects as land-based training, with a possible reduction in stress due to the reduction of impact afforded by the buoyancy and resistance of the water upon landing.  相似文献

Although hip flexion is integral in sports, hip flexion exercises are seldom emphasized in strength and conditioning for sports performance. This study aimed to determine whether a hip flexor resistance-training program could improve performance on a variety of tasks. Thirteen men and 11 women completed an 8-week hip flexion resistance-training program. Eleven men and 13 women served as controls. Isometric hip flexion strength, 40-yd dash time and the time for the first 10-yds, 4 x 5.8-m shuttle run time, and vertical jump height were evaluated at the beginning and end of the training and control period. Improvements were observed in the training group but not in the control group. Individuals in the training group improved hip flexion strength by 12.2% and decreased their 40-yd and shuttle run times by 3.8% and 9.0%, respectively. An increase in hip flexion strength can help to improve sprint and agility performance for physically active, untrained individuals.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of plyometric training on running velocity (RV) and squat jump (SJ) in prepubescent boys. Fifteen boys (11.1 +/- 0.5 years) followed a 10-week plyometric program (JUMP group). Another group of 15 boys (10.9 +/- 0.7 years) followed only the physical education program in primary school and was used as the control group (CONT group). Running distances (0-10 m, 10-20 m, 20-30 m, and 0-30 m), were selected as testing variables to evaluate the training program. The total number of jumps was initially 60 per session, which was gradually increased over a period of 10 weeks to 100 per session. Results revealed significant differences between CONT and JUMP groups in RV and SJ. In JUMP group the velocity for the running distances 0-30, 10-20, and 20-30 m increased (p < 0.05), but not for the distance 0-10 m (p > 0.05). Additionally, the SJ performance of the JUMP group increased significantly, as well (p < 0.05). There was no change in either RV or SJ for the CONT group. These results indicate that plyometric exercises can improve SJ and RV in prepubertal boys. More specifically, this program selectively influenced the maximum velocity phase, but not the acceleration phase.  相似文献

In contrast to endurance training, little research has been carried out to investigate the effects of short (<10 s) sprint training on performance, muscle metabolism and fibre types. Nine fit male subjects performed a mean of 16 outdoor sprint running training sessions over 6 weeks. Distances sprinted were 30–80 m at 90–100% maximum speed and between 20 and 40 sprints were performed in each session. Endurance (maximal oxygen consumption; V˙O2 max), sprint (10 m and 40 m times), sustained sprint (supramaximal treadmill run) and repeated sprint (6 × 40 m sprints, 24 s recovery between each) performance tests were performed before and after training. Muscle biopsy samples (vastus lateralis) were also taken to examine changes in metabolites, enzyme activities and fibre types. After training, significant improvements were seen in 40 m time (P < 0.01), supramaximal treadmill run time (P < 0.05), repeated sprint performance (P < 0.05) and V˙O2 max (P < 0.01). Resting muscle concentrations of ATP and phosphocreatine did not change. Phosphorylase activity increased (P < 0.025), citrate synthase activity decreased (P < 0.01), but no significant changes were recorded in myokinase and phosphofructokinase activities. The proportion of type II muscle fibres increased significantly (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate that 6 weeks of short sprint training can improve endurance, sprint and repeated sprint ability in fit subjects. Increases in the proportion of type II muscle fibres are also possible with this type of training. Accepted: 5 January 1998  相似文献

Our laboratory recently showed that six sessions of sprint interval training (SIT) over 2 wk increased muscle oxidative potential and cycle endurance capacity (Burgomaster KA, Hughes SC, Heigenhauser GJF, Bradwell SN, and Gibala MJ. J Appl Physiol 98: 1895-1900, 2005). The present study tested the hypothesis that short-term SIT would reduce skeletal muscle glycogenolysis and lactate accumulation during exercise and increase the capacity for pyruvate oxidation via pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH). Eight men [peak oxygen uptake (VO2 peak)=3.8+/-0.2 l/min] performed six sessions of SIT (4-7x30-s "all-out" cycling with 4 min of recovery) over 2 wk. Before and after SIT, biopsies (vastus lateralis) were obtained at rest and after each stage of a two-stage cycling test that consisted of 10 min at approximately 60% followed by 10 min at approximately 90% of VO2 peak. Subjects also performed a 250-kJ time trial (TT) before and after SIT to assess changes in cycling performance. SIT increased muscle glycogen content by approximately 50% (main effect, P=0.04) and the maximal activity of citrate synthase (posttraining: 7.8+/-0.4 vs. pretraining: 7.0+/-0.4 mol.kg protein -1.h-1; P=0.04), but the maximal activity of 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase was unchanged (posttraining: 5.1+/-0.7 vs. pretraining: 4.9+/-0.6 mol.kg protein -1.h-1; P=0.76). The active form of PDH was higher after training (main effect, P=0.04), and net muscle glycogenolysis (posttraining: 100+/-16 vs. pretraining: 139+/-11 mmol/kg dry wt; P=0.03) and lactate accumulation (posttraining: 55+/-2 vs. pretraining: 63+/-1 mmol/kg dry wt; P=0.03) during exercise were reduced. TT performance improved by 9.6% after training (posttraining: 15.5+/-0.5 vs. pretraining: 17.2+/-1.0 min; P=0.006), and a control group (n=8, VO2 peak=3.9+/-0.2 l/min) showed no change in performance when tested 2 wk apart without SIT (posttraining: 18.8+/-1.2 vs. pretraining: 18.9+/-1.2 min; P=0.74). We conclude that short-term SIT improved cycling TT performance and resulted in a closer matching of glycogenolytic flux and pyruvate oxidation during submaximal exercise.  相似文献

The aims of the present study were to examine the effects of endurance training on multiple sprint cycling performance and to evaluate the influence of recovery duration on the magnitude of those effects. Twenty-one physically active male university students were randomly assigned to either an experimental (n = 12) or a control (n = 9) group. The experimental group cycled for 20 minutes each day, 3 times per week, for 6 weeks at 70% of the power output required to elicit maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max). Multiple sprint performance was assessed using 2 maximal (20 x 5 seconds) sprint cycling tests with contrasting recovery periods (10 or 30 seconds). All tests were conducted on a friction-braked cycle ergometer. Relative to controls, training resulted in a 0.2 L.min(-1) increase in mean VO2max (95% likely range: -0.04 to 0.44 L.min(-1)). Changes in anaerobic capacity (determined by maximal accumulated oxygen deficit) over the same period were trivial (p = 0.96). After training, the experimental group showed significant improvements ( approximately 40 W), relative to controls, in multiple sprint measures of peak and mean power output. In contrast, training-induced reductions in fatigue were trivial (p = 0.63), and there were no significant between-protocol differences in the magnitude of any effects. In summary, 6 weeks of endurance training resulted in substantial improvements in multiple sprint cycling performance, the magnitude of the improvements being largely unaffected by the duration of the intervening recovery periods.  相似文献

Our purpose was to examine the effects of sprintinterval training on muscle glycolytic and oxidative enzyme activityand exercise performance. Twelve healthy men (22 ± 2 yr of age)underwent intense interval training on a cycle ergometer for 7 wk.Training consisted of 30-s maximum sprint efforts (Wingate protocol)interspersed by 2-4 min of recovery, performed three times perweek. The program began with four intervals with 4 min of recovery persession in week 1 and progressed to 10 intervals with 2.5 min of recovery per session by week7. Peak power output and total work over repeated maximal 30-s efforts and maximal oxygen consumption(O2 max) weremeasured before and after the training program. Needle biopsies weretaken from vastus lateralis of nine subjects before and after theprogram and assayed for the maximal activity of hexokinase, totalglycogen phosphorylase, phosphofructokinase, lactate dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, succinate dehydrogenase, malate dehydrogenase, and3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase. The training program resulted insignificant increases in peak power output, total work over 30 s, andO2 max. Maximalenzyme activity of hexokinase, phosphofructokinase, citrate synthase,succinate dehydrogenase, and malate dehydrogenase was alsosignificantly (P < 0.05) higherafter training. It was concluded that relatively brief but intensesprint training can result in an increase in both glycolytic andoxidative enzyme activity, maximum short-term power output, andO2 max.

The effects of loading on sprint kinematics were examined in 24 male students. The moment of inertia of either the arms or legs was increased by up to 50% of their unloaded values and the time for distances of 0.5–15 m and 15–30 m from a sprint start was measured. An increase in leg loading was associated with a gradual decrease in velocity of both sprint phases, while the change associated with arm loading was modest and significant only in the second phase. The decrease in sprint velocity was predominantly due to a reduction in stride rate, while the stride length remained almost unchanged. It was concluded that leg loading affected sprint velocity more than arm loading, and also that the velocity was reduced due to a decrease in the stride rate rather than in the stride length. The aim of thepresent study was to examine the effect of creatine supplementation(CrS) on sprint exercise performance and skeletal muscle anaerobicmetabolism during and after sprint exercise. Eight active, untrainedmen performed a 20-s maximal sprint on an air-braked cycle ergometerafter 5 days of CrS [30 g creatine (Cr) + 30 g dextrose perday] or placebo (30 g dextrose per day). The trials wereseparated by 4 wk, and a double-blind crossover design was used. Muscleand blood samples were obtained at rest, immediately after exercise,and after 2 min of passive recovery. CrS increased the muscle total Crcontent (9.5 ± 2.0%, P < 0.05, mean ± SE); however, 20-s sprint performance was not improved byCrS. Similarly, the magnitude of the degradation or accumulation ofmuscle (e.g., adenine nucleotides, phosphocreatine, inosine 5'-monophosphate, lactate, and glycogen) and plasma metabolites (e.g., lactate, hypoxanthine, and ammonia/ammonium) were also unaffected by CrS during exercise or recovery. These data demonstrated that CrS increased muscle total Cr content, but the increase did notinduce an improved sprint exercise performance or alterations inanaerobic muscle metabolism.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between aerobic characteristics and sprint skiing performance, and the effects of high-intensity endurance training on sprint skiing performance and aerobic characteristics. Ten male and 5 female elite junior cross-country skiers performed an 8-week intervention training period. The intervention group (IG, n = 7) increased the volume of high-intensity endurance training performed in level terrain, whereas the control group (CG, n = 8) continued their baseline training. Before and after the intervention period, the skiers were tested for 1.5-km time-trial performance on roller skis outdoors in the skating technique. Maximal oxygen uptake (VO?max) and oxygen uptake at the ventilatory threshold (VO?VT) were measured during treadmill running. VO?max and VO?VT were closely related to sprint performance (r = ~0.75, both p < 0.008). The IG improved sprint performance, VO?max, and VO?VT from pre to posttesting and improved sprint performance and VO?VT when compared to the CG (all p < 0.01). This study shows a close relationship between aerobic power and sprint performance in cross-country skiing and highlights the positive effects of high-intensity endurance training in level terrain.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of 6 warm-up protocols, with and without stretches, on 2 different power maneuvers: a 30-m sprint run and a vertical countermovement jump (CJ). The 6 protocols were: (a) walk plus run (WR); (b) WR plus exercises including small jumps (EJ); (c) WR plus dynamic active stretch plus exercises with small jumps (DAEJ); (d) WR plus dynamic active stretch (DA); (e) WR plus static stretch plus exercises with small jumps (SSEJ); and (f) WR plus static stretch (SS). Twenty-six college-age men (n = 14) and women (n = 12) performed each of 6 randomly ordered exercise routines prior to randomly ordered sprint and vertical jump field tests; each routine and subsequent tests were performed on separate days. A 2 x 6 repeated measures analysis of variance revealed a significant overall linear trend (p < or = 0.05) with a general tendency toward reduction in jump height when examined in the following analysis entry order: WR, EJ, DAEJ, DA, SSEJ, and SS. The post hoc analysis pairwise comparisons showed the WR protocol produced higher jumps than did SS (p = 0.003 < or = 0.05), and DAEJ produced higher jumps than did SS (p = 0.009 < or = 0.05). There were no significant differences among the 6 protocols on sprint run performance (p > or = 0.05). No significant interaction occurred between gender and protocol. There were significant differences between men and women on CJ and sprint trials; as expected, in general men ran faster and jumped higher than the women did. The data indicate that a warm-up including static stretching may negatively impact jump performance, but not sprint time.  相似文献
