试验采用3×3因子设计,探讨了饲料中不同蛋白质和脂肪水平对1龄团头鲂[均重:(50.37±1.27)g]生长性能和体组成的影响。试验设3个蛋白质水平(25%、30%和35%)和3个脂肪水平(3%、6%和9%),共配制9组饲料。试验鱼饲养于网箱(规格为2 m×1 m×1 m)中,每天投喂3次,试验期为8周。结果表明:蛋白质和脂肪之间无交互作用存在(P>0.05)。蛋白质和脂肪水平对存活率无显著影响(P>0.05)。增重率、特定生长率和饵料系数显著受蛋白质和脂肪水平影响(P<0.05)。其中,25%蛋白组的增重率及特定生长率显著低于其他蛋白组(P<0.05),而6%脂肪组显著高于其他脂肪组(P<0.01)。尽管35%蛋白6%脂肪组的饵料系数最低,但与除了25%蛋白3%脂肪和25%蛋白9%脂肪这两组外的其他组相比,差异均不显著(P>0.05)。蛋白效率比和氮保留率随蛋白质水平的升高显著降低(P<0.05)。此外,蛋白效率比显著受脂肪水平的影响(P<0.05),以6%组最高。能量保留率随脂肪水平的升高显著升高(P<0.05)。鱼体肥满度随蛋白质和脂肪水平的升高显著升高(P<0.05)。腹脂率和肝体比随脂肪水平的升高显著升高(P<0.05),而受蛋白质水平的影响较小(P>0.05)。蛋白质水平对全鱼、胴体和肝脏的组成均无显著影响(P>0.05)。脂肪水平对全鱼水分、脂肪和能量有极显著影响(P<0.01),其中,全鱼水分含量随脂肪水平的升高显著降低(P<0.01),而脂肪和能量含量则显著升高(P<0.01)。胴体和肝脏水分、脂肪含量的变化趋势与全鱼基本一致。以上结果表明,1龄团头鲂的适宜蛋白质和脂肪水平分别为30%和6%,适宜蛋能比为18.21 g/MJ。  相似文献

A detailed study was made of the seasonal changes in energy reserves in adult female plaice, Pleuronectes platessa L. The weights of lipid, protein, glycogen and ash in the carcass, liver and ovaries were measured in females approximately 35 cm long on ten occasions during one year. These data were converted to data for a'real'growing female by using a growth curve to take account of increasing length during the year. Growth of the whole body and of the body components was assumed to be isometric.
Plaice show a marked seasonal cycle of body weight and energy content. A six year old female plaice of 330 g, 32.6 cm long and with an energy content of 406 kcal in May, assimilates 560 kcal before December when it ceases to feed. Of this, 234 kcal is used to produce eggs, 159 kcal is used for metabolism during starvation, and the remainder 167 kcal, is used in growth. There is an increase in length to 35.9 cm and in weight to 462 g over the year. From December until March, when plaice do not feed but grow large ovaries, 40% of the protein in the body is utilised, 33% is devoted to egg production and 7% is metabolised to provide energy; 64% of the lipid is used, only 14% being used for egg production but 50% is metabolised for energy. Lipid supplies 75% of the energy for metabolism and so forms the major reserve; 42% of the energy assimilated during the year is devoted to reproduction. The main source of lipid and protein reserves is the carcass.  相似文献

Wet and dry weights of tissue were measured and concentrations of glycogen, lipid and protein were estimated for the liver, gonad and carcass of male sticklebacks from an annual population collected each month over one complete year. In young-of-the-year there is one period of rapid weight gain, in all three body regions (liver, carcass and gonads) but particularly of the carcass, in the autumn and a second in spring and early summer. This is accompanied by an increase in the water content of all three body regions. The gonadosomatic index also increases sharply in spring and early summer. Young sticklebacks accumulate lipid and glycogen slowly during the autumn and winter of their first year of life and more rapidly from late winter to early summer. Thus, the period of most rapid accumulation of these reserves coincides with the time when body weight and gonad maturation are also increasing sharply. Lipid and glycogen levels fall during the reproductive season in those males that breed, so that by July they are reduced to 43% and 37% (respectively) of their peak values in May. Levels of protein increase throughout the year as the fish grow, but in breeding males by July the concentration of protein in the carcass falls to 70% of pre-breeding levels. Breeding males therefore reach the end of the reproductive season with their total energy reserves severely reduced, and consequently they suffer a very high mortality. In contrast, adult males that fail to reproduce survive beyond the breeding season. They continue to gain weight and to accumulate lipid and glycogen from August to September, but these energy reserves fall (to levels comparable to those of post-breeding fish) in December, when these fish probably die. These results demonstrate that in male sticklebacks, growth and gonad maturation can be sustained in parallel with the accumulation of energy reserves, which are subsequently extensively depleted as a result of reproductive activities.  相似文献

The effect of fasting on hormonal and metabolic variables was evaluated in normal rats and in rats with obesity induced by neonatal treatment with monosodium glutamate (MSG). The hyperinsulinemia of the fed obese rats was reversed by fasting. Plasma corticosterone was also high in the fed obese and decreased to levels similar to fed controls, while it increased in the latter group during fasting. In contrast, thyroid hormone levels decreased in controls but increased in the obese rats in response to fasting. The fed obese group had lower carcass protein and higher carcass lipid contents than controls. In response to fasting, the decrements of the initial amount of both protein and fat were lower in MSG than in controls. Fasting induced a sustained increase in plasma free fatty acids only in the obese rats, although a single 100 μmol · l−1 dose of norepinephrine stimulated in vitro glycerol release more pronouncedly in epididymal adipocytes from control than obese rats. The results indicate that MSG-obese rats were able to mobilize fat stores during prolonged fasting. The high availability of lipid fuels and the sharp and sustained decrease in circulating corticosterone in the MSG group were probably important in diminishing body protein consumption during fasting. Endogenous reserves influence both survival and reproduction of many waterfowl species, but little is known about reserve levels of most species during the nonbreeding season, particularly those wintering at high latitudes. We investigated whether age, sex, and season were related to carcass composition of northern common eiders (Somateria mollissima borealis) wintering in southwest Greenland during 1999–2002. Adults carried more lipid and protein than juveniles during all winters. Among both age classes, males and females had similar fat levels but males carried slightly more protein. There was no dramatic seasonal variation in lipid or protein content. This suggests that during the period of this study, these eiders did not experience large-scale nutritional shortfalls. As predicted, Greenlandic eiders carried more lipid reserves than eider populations wintering in more temperate environments. Contrary to prediction, there was little relation between reserve levels and photoperiod, ambient temperature, or hunting disturbance intensity. Our results suggest that both sexes are equally capable of dealing with nutritional deficits, and that juvenile birds are more prone to nutritional stress as evidenced by their consistently poorer body condition.  相似文献

A three-generation full-sib resource family was constructed by crossing two commercial pig lines. Genotypes for 37 molecular markers covering chromosomes SSC1, SSC6, SSC7 and SSC13 were obtained for 315 F2 animals of 49 families and their parents and grandparents. Phenotypic records of traits including carcass characteristics measured by the AutoFOM grading system, dissected carcass cuts and meat quality characteristics were recorded at 140 kg slaughter weight. Furthermore, phenotypic records on live animals were obtained for chemical composition of the empty body, protein and lipid accretion (determined by the deuterium dilution technique), daily gain and feed intake during the course of growth from 30 to 140 kg body weight. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) detection was conducted using least-squares regression interval mapping. Highest significance at the 0.1% chromosome-wise level was obtained for five QTL: AutoFOM belly weight on SSC1; ham lean-meat weight, percentage of fat of primal cuts and daily feed intake between 60 and 90 kg live weight on SSC6; and loin lean-meat weight on SSC13. QTL affecting daily gain and protein accretion were found on SSC1 in the same region. QTL for protein and lipid content of empty body at 60 kg liveweight were located close to the ryanodine receptor 1 (RYR1) locus on SSC6. On SSC13, significant QTL for protein accretion and feed conversion ratio were detected during growth from 60 to 90 kg. In general, additive genetic effects of alleles originating from the Piétrain line were associated with lower fatness and larger muscularity as well as lower daily gain and lower protein accretion rates. Most of the QTL for carcass characteristics were found on SSC6 and were estimated after adjustment for the RYR1 gene. QTL for carcass traits, fatness and growth on SSC7 reported in the literature, mainly detected in crosses of commercial lines x obese breeds, were not obtained in the present study using crosses of only commercial lines, suggesting that these QTL are not segregating in the analysed commercial lines.  相似文献

The body condition of adult sand martins during the breeding season and a sample of fledglings was investigated by carcass analysis and by examination of live birds in the field. Fat scoring of live individuals was a reliable predictor of an individual's lipid content in most instances. Body mass changes during breeding were related to changes in the size of birds' lipid reserves, pectoral muscle mass, body water, and to development of the reproductive system. In both males and females, reserve lipid declined between the onset of breeding and nestling rearing. Pre-breeding males had significantly greater pectoral muscle masses than did nestling rearing females. The potential significance of protein in pectoral muscles as an energy reserve during breeding was small compared with lipid reserves. By comparing potential energy reserves in body lipid and protein with daily energy expenditure, it was calculated that neither incubating nor nestling rearing adults could survive a day of normal activity without feeding. The selective premium on adults optimizing their use of time and energy for self-maintenance behaviour during breeding is therefore likely to be great.  相似文献

Protein, lipid, water and caloric contents of immature rainbow trout, relative to size of whole fish, growing at different rates were examined by use of allometric analysis (y = axb, Huxley, 1932). Fish grew at different rates as a result of differences in ration size (satiation, or 4–5% of dry body weight), temperature (7 and 12°C) and bGH (bovine growth hormone) administration. In fingerlings, protein, lipid and caloric contents tended to increase (v. body weight) as a percentage of body composition, whereas above fingerling size, protein decreased while lipid and caloric contents still increased. These trends occurred regardless of growth rate differences. The correlations between protein, lipid, caloric contents and body weight were high so reliable estimates of body components can be made from body weight for all experimental treatments. At satiation rations (7 and 12°C), there were no significant differences in protein content, but lipid and caloric contents were significantly higher in control fish. At low rations, protein and caloric contents were lower than those at satiation rations and lipid was lower than in the control group. On a dry weight basis, in uninjected fish at 12°C, ration size did not influence the percentage composition (protein and lipid) but the low ration group had lower energy values per unit of body dry weight. At low temperature (7°C satiation), fish had lower lipid and higher protein content (dry weight basis) than their controls (12°C satiation), thereby resembling bGH injected fish at satiation rations. Values of caloric content estimated from protein and lipid values by use of standard conversion factors differed sufficiently from caloric values directly determined by bomb calorimetry to suggest that caloric values of lipids may change during growth. The increase in body caloric content during growth apparently results mainly from an increase in the percentage of lipid. The similarity of body composition between different growth rate groups implied a tendency for conservation of relative proportions of components such that body composition can be approximated from body weight. Equations were also given to describe the relationship between water content and body constituents, and the relationship between condition factor (K) and both the body dry weight and lipid content.  相似文献

The present study examined effects of a selectively hydrogenated soybean oil (SHSO) containing about 21% CLA on body composition, adipose depots and organ weights, and plasma lipid profiles in rats. Male Sprague Dawley rats were fed for 6 weeks a purified diet containing 0%, 1%, 3%, and 5% of SHSO. Different levels of SHSO supplementation did not significantly affect growth performance, although there was a trend toward decreased body weight gain with increasing dietary SHSO levels. The weights of inguinal, epididymal, and retroperitoneal adipose depot, but not mesenteric, were significantly influenced by dietary SHSO supplementation (P < 0.05, P < 0.01 and P < 0.001, respectively). Although the absolute weight of body protein in the control rats was higher in SHSO-fed rats, the effect on absolute weight of body protein is diluted and eliminated when the data are adjusted for eviscerated carcass weight as a percentage base. Therefore, as dietary SHSO level increased, body protein as a percentage of carcass weight increased (P < 0.05), although as dietary SHSO level increased, body fat proportion in carcass decreased (P < 0.01). Plasma triglycerides (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) concentrations were beneficially decreased, and HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) to TC ratio was also beneficially increased by SHSO supplementation (P < 0.05, P < 0.001, and P < 0.01, respectively). However, plasma HDL-C concentration undesirably decreased with dietary SHSO supplementation (P < 0.05). The present study observed that body composition and plasma lipids were beneficially modulated by SHSO supplementation at least 3% levels (0.6% of CLA), and suggested that SHSO is a useful fat source because of the high level of CLA.  相似文献

Objective: This study investigated which aspect of energy balance was responsible for the decrease in body fat content of rats fed a high‐calcium, high—dairy protein diet. Research Methods and Procedures: Male Wistar rats were fed a control diet (25% kcal fat, 14% kcal protein from casein, 0.4% by weight calcium) or high‐calcium diet (25% kcal fat, 7% kcal protein from nonfat dry milk, 7% kcal protein from casein, 2.4% calcium) for 85 days. Body weights, digestible energy intakes, energy expenditures, rectal temperatures, body composition, and serum glucose, insulin, free fatty acids, triglycerides, and 1, 25‐dihydroxyvitamin D were measured. Results: Rats fed high‐calcium diet gained significantly less weight than controls and had 29% less carcass fat. Gross energy intake was not significantly different between groups, but digestible energy was 90% of gross energy in the high‐calcium diet compared with 94% in the control diet because of increased fecal excretion of dietary lipid. The difference in digestible energy intake accounted for differences in carcass energy. Body temperatures and energy expenditures of the rats were not different. The high‐calcium diet reduced serum triglycerides by 23% and serum 1, 25‐dihydroxyvitamin D by 86%. Discussion: These results confirm that a high‐calcium diet decreases body weight and fat content due to a lower digestible energy intake caused by increased fecal lipid and a nonsignificant reduction in gross energy intake.  相似文献

Quail fed ad libitum and 50% ad libitum were cold exposed for several weeks, during time control quail remained at 21 degrees C. The concentration of plasma glucose, FFA, and uric acid, tissue glycogen and carcass fat content was measured at the end of the cold exposure period. Quail fed ad libitum showed no significant change in the levels of plasma and tissue metabolites, or the carcass fat content, following cold exposure. The feed consumption by the cold exposed quail increased, and the mean body weight showed little variation from that of the controls. Feed restricted quail which were cold exposed lost significantly more weight, and had a lower ranked fat content than their controls. Whereas feed restriction caused a lowering of the liver glycogen concentration in both treatment groups, muscle glycogen levels were higher than in quail fed ad libitum. However, cold exposure was not accompanied by a change in muscle and liver glycogen levels in feed restricted quail. Feed restricted quail at 21 degrees C were hypoglycaemic and hyperlipaemic compared to quail fed ad libitum, but cold exposed feed restricted quail had a much higher plasma glucose concentration than the controls. The ranked carcass fat content was inversely related to plasma FFA level in both control and cold exposed feed restricted quail. It is suggested that both a glycolytic and lipid mobilizing response to cold is obtained in quail whose body reserves are not spared from catabolism by adequate dietary nutrient absorption, and the possibility of gluconeogenesis from precursors produced by proteolysis is indicated.  相似文献

设计5个饲料蛋白水平(30%、33%、36%、39%和42%)和2个脂肪水平(6%和9%)的52的因子试验,配制10种试验饲料,分别饲喂10组三重复平均体重为95.5 g的二龄青鱼70d,以探讨不同蛋白和脂肪水平对青鱼生长和体组成等的影响。结果表明: 鱼体增重随饲料蛋白水平从30%提高到39%不断增加(P0.05),进一步提高饲料蛋白水平至42%时,鱼体增重则不再显著变化(P0.05);饲料系数随饲料蛋白水平从30%提高到39%而不断降低(P0.05),进一步提高饲料蛋白水平至42%时,也不再显著变化;蛋白质效率和蛋白保留率随饲料蛋白水平呈下降趋势;以鱼体增重为指标,经折线模型进行回归分析求得适宜的饲料蛋白水平为占干饲料的40%。饲料蛋白、脂肪水平及其交互作用对的试验鱼成活率均无显著差异(P0.05)。饲料脂肪水平、饲料蛋白与脂肪的交互作用对鱼体增重、饲料系数、摄食率和蛋白质效率也均无显著影响(P0.05)。摄食蛋白水平为30%和33%饲料的青鱼与摄食蛋白水平36%-42%饲料的青鱼相比,有较低的水分和较高全鱼脂肪(P0.05)。青鱼脏体比和肌肉粗脂肪含量均随着饲料中蛋白水平的提高呈降低的趋势。摄食脂肪水平为9%的饲料的青鱼较摄食脂肪水平为6%的饲料的青鱼,有较高脏体比、全鱼脂肪含量和肌肉粗脂肪含量(P0.05)。上述结果说明,青鱼摄食低蛋白和高脂肪的饲料造成过多的体脂积累。在试验条件下,青鱼大规格鱼种饲养阶段适宜的饲料蛋白和脂肪水平分别为占干饲料的40%和6%。    相似文献

Bovine growth hormone (GH) given daily to rainbow trout, Sulmo gairdneri for 4 or 7 days at either 10.00 or 14.00 hours, significantly increased plasma free fatty acid (FFA) levels but had not effect on plasma cholesterol levels. Liver lipid content of the GH-injected trout after seven injections was significantly lower than comparable controls in groups injected at both 10.00 and 14.00 hours. There were no apparent effects of GH on carcass or muscle lipid content although in fish injected and sampled at 14.00 hours there was a significant correlation between the number of injections and carcass lipid content.
Changes in hepatosomatic index (HSI), liver, muscle and carcass lipid content, plasma FFA and cholesterol concentrations and somatotrop activity during food-deprivation for up to 60 days are described. Despite significant decreases in liver and muscle lipid content and increases in plasma FFA levels in food-deprived fish, there was no concomitant change in apparent somatotrop activity.
The data are interpreted to indicate that although exogenous GH, in the doses used here, appears to stimulate mobilization of lipid reserves, particularly from the liver, there is no evidence that enforced changes in lipid reserves elicits a response of the endogenous somatotrop cells.  相似文献

Growth performance, carcass quality, survival and hematological responses of Oncorhynchus mykiss juveniles (initial weight 8.4 ± 0.1 g) fed diets containing thymol‐carvacrol powder at the levels of 0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 g kg?1 were tested. Thymol‐carvacrol powder originated from Origanum vulgare, a Mediterranean plant, added to diets. Each diet was fed to triplicate groups of fish for 45 days. Fish fed diets containing thymol‐carvacrol had significantly higher final weight and growth than the control group. Food conversion ratio in fish fed diets containing 2.0 and 3.0 g kg?1 thymol‐carvacrol was statistically better than in other treatments. Survival was not different among all treatments. The number of lymphocytes increased when thymol‐carvacrol was used at higher levels. Furthermore, whole body lipid content was higher in fish fed 1.0 and 2.0 g kg?1 thymol‐carvacrol than the other groups, but body protein in the group fed 3.0 g kg?1 was higher than in other groups. Also, body ash in control and 1.0 g kg?1 was higher than in other groups. Whole body dry matter was not affected by dietary treatments. These results indicated that dietary administration of thymol‐carvacrol can influence some growth, hematological parameters and tissue composition in rainbow trout juveniles.  相似文献

研究旨在探讨洱海土著鱼类春鲤(Cyprinus longipectoralis)(初始体重0.55 g)对蛋白质和脂肪的需求量。实验采用3×3双因子设计,蛋白水平为33%、39%和45%,脂肪水平为5%、8%和11%,共9组等能饲料。实验在水温为(28±2)℃的室内微流水系统中进行,为期56d。实验结果表明:随着蛋白水平的提高,摄食率显著降低(P<0.05),饲料效率、能量沉积率、鱼体水分和脂肪含量显著升高(P<0.05),但特定生长率、蛋白质效率、蛋白沉积率、鱼体灰分含量和能值均无显著变化(P>0.05)。随着脂肪水平的提高,特定生长率、蛋白沉积率和鱼体蛋白含量显著下降,鱼体脂肪含量显著上升(P<0.05),而摄食率、饲料效率、能量沉积率、鱼体水分和灰分含量以及能值则无明显变化(P>0.05)。通过折线回归分析得出,当饲料中蛋脂比为7.30时,春鲤有最大的特定生长率。研究结果表明,春鲤饲料中适宜的蛋白和脂肪水平分别为33%—34%和4%—5%。  相似文献

Seasonal patterns of growth, lipid deposition and lipid depletion were studied in anadromous Arctic charr from a north Norwegian population. Samples were collected in late May when fish were migrating between fresh water and the sea, and in mid-July when the fish re-entered fresh water. A sample of maturing fish captured in mid-July was held in captivity until late September to assess lipid mobilization linked to the final stages of maturation. The fish increased substantially in weight during their 40–50-day summer residence in sea water (immatures from c . 300 to 600 g; maturing fish from c . 500 to 800 g), and body lipid stores were increased approximately fivefold. The carcass (head, skeleton and skin) was the major lipid depot, accounting for c . 50% of the total lipid content when the fish re-entered fresh water from the sea. The muscle of the ascending charr contained 35–40% of the body lipids, whereas the gut and liver each held 4–5%. Body lipid decreased 30–40% during the period between the re-entry of the fish to fresh water and spawning; although lipids were depleted from all depots the carcass and muscle were quantitatively the most important. By the time of spawning, the gonads of the females held almost 25% of the body lipid, whereas in the males the gonads accounted for <3% of the total lipids. Females lost c . 80% of their body lipid during spawning and overwintering, and, consequently, the lipid depots were severely depleted by the early spring. By contrast, lipid depletion in the males amounted to 50–55% of total lipid in the same period. These data suggest that the combination of spawning and overwintering in fresh water imposes a greater load on the females than on the males. It may be that the severity of the depletion prevents females from spawning in successive years.  相似文献

We have developed an animal model of hyperammonemia consisting of feeding rats a diet containing 20% (w/w) ammonium acetate. Ingestion of this diet markedly affects carcass composition, with a 46% reduction in lipid content. The ammonium diet alters levels of several key compounds involved in lipid metabolism. Long-chain acylcarnitine is increased in liver by approx. 60% while free carnitine and acetylcarnitine are unaffected. The hepatic content of acetyl-CoA increases by approx. 50%. The level of ketone bodies in blood increases by 32% but remains unchanged in liver. Our data indicate that hyperammonemia alters lipid metabolism and results in a significant decrease in body lipid content.  相似文献

In two laboratory experiments using tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and common carp (Cyprinus carpio), we investigated the effect of lipid content in the fish carcass on the stable carbon isotope ratio (δ13C). In both experiments, a significant negative correlation was found between lipid content in the carcass dry matter and δ13C of total dry matter, but there was no influence on the δ13C of fat-free dry matter or lipids. As the lipid content of fish is known to vary with reproductive stage, season or nutritional state, separate analysis of fractions of the proximate composition of dry matter will lead to more reliable results than analysing the whole body. The differences in δ13C between diet and fish carcass (trophic shift) were different for the two species, calling for feeding trials under controlled conditions using the species and the feeds in question before applying the stable isotope tracer technique in the analysis of food webs. The use of green algae ulva meal (UM) (Ulva rigida) was evaluated as a replacement for soybean meal in a practical diet formulated to contain 28% crude protein, 7.50% lipid and 15 kJ gross energy g?1. Soybean meal was replaced by 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% of UM (diets U0, U1, U2 and U3, respectively). The feeding experiment was carried out in an open circulation system. Each diet treatment was applied to triplicate groups of 30 fish (21.37 ± 0.193 g average wet weight) per tank (400 L) arranged in a completely randomized design. The fish were hand fed to satiation four times daily between 07.00 and 18.00 hours for 75 days. There were no significant differences (P > 0.05) in growth performance among fish fed with diets U0, U1 and U2. However, fish fed diet U3 had significantly lower growth (P < 0.05) than those fed diets U0, U1 and U2. Fish fed the control diet (U0) and diets including 10% and 20% UM had significantly (P < 0.05) better daily weight gain, relative growth weight, specific growth weight and protein efficiencies ratio than those fed with diet U3. Feed conversion ratio increased with increasing UM content, but only the value found in fish fed with diet U3 differed significantly (P < 0.05) from all other treatments. Survival rates ranged between 91.11% and 93.33%. No feed‐related mortality was observed during the entire experimental period. Apparent protein digestibility (APD) of diets ranged from 87.06 to 69.91% and was lowest for fish fed with diet U3. In general, APD values decreased with increasing inclusion levels of UM, explained by the increase of anti‐nutritional factors and high non‐digestible fibre content. Compared to the control diet (U0), fish fed diets containing high levels of UM had lower levels of carcass lipid and higher levels of carcass moisture. Results show that this product can be included by up to 20% in practical male Nile tilapia diets with no detrimental effects.  相似文献

A factorial experiment was designed to examine the effect on compensatory growth (CG) of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus fed diets containing different protein and lipid levels under normal and temporally restricted feeding regimes. Four diets were formulated to contain either 30% or 36% crude protein, and 5% or 11% crude lipid. Triplicate replicates of each treatment were assigned to 24 150‐L tanks (20 fish/tank density). Fish (mean initial weight ± SD = 8.79 ± 0.34 g) were then fed either the normal feeding regime (thrice daily to apparent satiation) or the restricted regime (1 day feed deprivation followed by 3 days of feeding to apparent satiation) over a 44‐days study period. Fish receiving a diet under the restricted regime achieved weight gains (WG) comparable to fish consuming the diet containing 30% protein and 5% lipids under the normal feeding regime. Fish maintained on the restricted feeding regime exhibited reduced feed intake (FI), WG, feed efficiency ratio (FE), protein efficiency rate (PER) and hepatosomatic index versus fish on the normal feeding regime, except WG in fish fed the diet with 30% protein and 5% lipids. However, the resultant FI (85%~94%) was higher than the excepted 75% intake when fish were subjected to the restricted regime. Feeding 11% lipid diets led to improved FI, WG, FE, and PER compared to feeding the 5% lipid diets. Increased FI, WG, and FE, but reduced PER were observed in fish fed with 36% protein versus fish fed 30% protein. Fish receiving the 36% protein diets had lower whole‐body moisture and ash contents, but elevated whole‐body protein and lipid contents compared to those receiving the 30% protein diets. Whole‐body moisture contents were lower, but whole‐body protein, lipid and ash contents were higher in fish fed 11% lipid diets than in fish fed 5% lipid diets. There was an increase in whole‐body moisture content, but a decrease in protein and lipid content in response to the restricted feeding regime. Ash content was not affected by the feeding regime. The present study shows that Nile tilapia fed diets subjected to a restricted feeding regime exhibited growth comparable to those fed the diet at 30% protein and 5% lipid levels under a normal feeding regime. This positive effect was more pronounced in diets at a high protein level or in a combination of high protein and lipid levels.  相似文献
